David – Ive been away for the weekend, but was pleased to read over that time that the Pope has demanded a recant from the recently de-excommunicated bishop who denied the extent of the holocaust – and a few other things.
El Papa says he didnt realise the history involved. Im not sure about that bit – I think more likely is a bit of politics in the vatican where some italian staffers are probably thinking that theyd give this ayrian upstart a bit of a challenge of leave out some of the important bits from the popes briefing papers. Whatever the cause, hes done what you were demanding (but I doubt if he actually knew of your demands!)

Anyway I was fully expecting to see a post on your blog when I got back last night from you saying something along these lines: “Opps – the pope is not a jew hater after all.I am pleased to see that he has demanded a recant from the renegade bishop and maybe I myself opened my mouth a bit too eagerly” or words to that effect.

But nothing…………..

[DPF: Your comment is to be blunt pathethic. I never called the Pope a Jew Hater. In fact I was very respectful to the Holy Father, but concluded he was putting Church unity over sensitiivity. I also put his childhood in Germany into the correct context. And likewise it is an inane comment to say I opened my mouth too early. The Pope did a backdown. He did that because of the criticism. So to say criticism is premature because criticism led to a backdown is, well as silly as your entire comment has been.]

Barry, the “de-excommunicated bishop” is still de-excommunicated, whether or not he recants. The recanting is only a condition for allowing him to resume lawfully, his functions as a bishop (episcopal functions). In David’s shoes, I would be watching to see if any such recanting occurred before getting too excited.

Our government give away untold millions of OUR money in the way of aid to other nations (interestingly Klark increased that amount last year to earn herself some brownie points with the UN) most of these nations are piss pot little pacific islands or third world hovels.

Given what we have seen in Aussie over the weekend I would rather my tax dollars were sent to help these poor bastards who have lost everything in the bush fires.

guys just spare a thought today for those here in Aus. There is an air of disbelief in Victoria. So far 84 dead and more to come. It has to be the single most horrific way to lose your life..

Did you know that the Pope is by definition infallible as he receives direct inspiration from the tolp floor? Yeah. He’s making some inspired mistakes. Top floor may need a holiday or a couple of asprin and a whiskey.

Two points.

The most endebted country in Europe has just pledged £28m to Gaza.

Which will be in a briefcase heading for Switzerland before anyone can utter Jihad.

The HMG then announces yet another database to track all travel movements of its citizens.

No doubt this will be Carbon Credit, debited to the bigger pensions for Sir Humphries Inc. There has to be a tax for travelling soon.

What do you think about this:

The Teachers Council says that 10% of graduates from teacher training are incompetent, but it’s not a significant percentage.

Your tax dollars are paying for that training, and some of those incompetent graduates get jobs.

What do you think about this:
Gerry Brownlee put his (considerable) weight behind pressuring the oil companies to drop the price of petrol to New Zealand customers. Har bloody har!
btw. caught the drift of how the general public view the government’s decision to allow fatty and sugary junk foods back into the schools? Have you? Or are your ears blocked by the sound of your own baying? NActs – you’ve stuffed that one up 🙂

greenfly – oh no! schools not dictating what our kids eat! oh the humanity. we all know, only the state can raise i child the right way.. or is that the left way?

everyone i know is stoked that stupid nany state rule has been given the ass.

PC is this country peaked last year.. its all down hill from here greenfly 🙂 i just feel for aussie, united states and the UK… they havent peaked yet.. but they will. the golden age of PC is goneeeeeeeeeeeeeee

However, we have yet to see any evidence that Barry is not a Jew hater, after his comments that the Jews brought the holocaust on themselves, and that apparently they have a lot of nasty people throughout history.

Given what we have seen in Aussie over the weekend I would rather my tax dollars were sent to help these poor bastards who have lost everything in the bush fires.

While I have plenty of sympathy for those affected by the bushfires, Australia is significantly richer than New Zealand. Helping them out would be like giving money to your rich cousin.

There are dozens of natural disasters around the Pacific each year that pass unnoticed bcause the media aren’t present. I would much rather any aid money went to helping out people in a country that is too poor to provide much help itself.

CCTV, Passport Controls, Driving Licences, and ID cards promised.

Methinks that all these Governments are playing the very same game.

All using terrorism and AGW to push taxes and more control.

The Money Laundering legislation was nothing to do with Terrorism. Everyone knows that the Islamic World has its very own cash, credit, and debit systems.

All the Money Laundering Legislation is about is maximising the Tax Revenue take.

No more, no less. So all the airport security checks will stop radicals with a stinger, or basic RPG taking down an A380 on ascent?

Thousands of poorly paid jobs in a new industry.

John Key, interviewed by Paul Henry this morning, said he had spoken to Kevin Rudd offering up to 100 NZ firefighters to travel and assist.

That is aid that we could all support, isn’t it?

Likewise getstaffed – the video clip this morning of Kevin Rudd consoling then hugging a rough-as-guts bloke was especially poignant – both men were totally overwhelmed by the enormity of it all.

Yes Aussie is richer, but we are talking about people here. The Australian Gov has reacted fast and decisively. I am no Rudd fan (not a lot of people are anymore) but this is weird. Every-one just puts their hand up and says I;ll pitch in. It is not about how rich a country is, it is about knowing that others care and that you are not alone. The Aussies will give and give big, but no one wins here. Every cent helps. And just remember the help coming the other way during the floods in NZ (about 2.4 mil from ordinary Aussies if I recall) and also during the great earthquake down in the BOP.

Don’t care what I believe in? Come again? I live by what I believe in. I certainly don’t want any government to fail. I’d like to see them and us prosper. There are some serious barriers to that happening, and Brownlee is just one bloated one. Tolley is another (her ‘food police’ bs will be one of those actions that hurts the NActs. People aren’t stupid (for long).
Brownlee made big noises about his influence on the price of oil, then went all ‘mum’ when it swang completely out of his ‘control’ – what a plonker.

“guess you’re a cyclist or a walker then” yea thats it… or i just dont care what it costs? anyway, i just looked, petrol is $1.65 … thats cheaper than when national came into office right? just how cheap would you like it to go? you also realise that our dollar is piss weak right now?

personally, i was hoping for gas to hit $4.. imagine the glorious empty roads for Dime to enjoy!

“People aren’t stupid (for long)” – 9 years was a decent amount of time.. although to be fair, there was a year of rogue polls!

as for the food police.. im sure your green/socialist friends are upset. BUT normal people are pretty dam happy the state is no longer telling them or their kids what to freakin eat!

i just hope you and your lefty friends stay in denial… “people just wanted a change! but they loved the nanny state. they cant be trusted! only us elite lefties know how to live properly” etc etc etc
