I see the long patient voters in the UK are finally awakening to the destruction their out of touch politicians have wrought upon their civilisation and society, with 325 current reps expected to be dumped after the next election. (646 in total).

    http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/politics/article6350604.ece

    When will it happen here?

When will NZers finally show the rage that is being shown in the UK, and dump the bunch of fools and poseurs who in league with their mainstream media acolytes, are doing so much to destroy what was once such a great little country?

    Get angry New Zealand.

  2. Viking2 (6,125) Says:

Now can anyone tell me why the PM would want to bother with this stuff?
None of his business and worse he wants to know about this an yet he presides over our law enforcement agencies that are incapable of telling us the truth over so many cases at law and are apparently incapable of telling us who stole the emails of Brash’s.
As I pointed out yesterday in the abortion discussion the Nats. are onto the red herring press release to move everyone away from the real issues. Stupid Brownlee has bought up a 5 year in the making report that tells us power has been to dear 3 times in the last seven years. They are Helen Klark type smoke screens designed to cover the arse of the English man.

PM wants the facts on Veitch
Key determined to find what TV bosses knew
By JONATHAN MARSHALL – Sunday News
    Last updated 05:00 24/05/2009

Prime Minister John Key last night told Sunday News he and Broadcasting Minister Dr Jonathan Coleman were determined to get to the bottom of exactly what TVNZ managers knew of Tony Veitch’s attack on his ex-partner.

Yesterday it was revealed TVNZ knew then-sports presenter Veitch had kicked his partner in the back leaving her requiring hospital treatment six months before the saga became public.

When the story broke in July last year, TVNZ indicated it was not aware of full details of the incident, subsequently confirming that Veitch had met senior managers to discuss the situation.

Details of Veitch’s December 2007 meeting with managers Anthony Flannery, head of television Jeff Latch, head of corporate affairs Peter Parussini, and a lawyer are included in a 358-page police file released to media earlier this week.

At that meeting Veitch was told by a manager that the incident “wasn’t an employment issue”.

The police file revealed Veitch had told senior TVNZ managers about the incident and that he had paid some of Kristin Dunne-Powell’s medical expenses, the files show.

When the managers were told Dunne-Powell was seeking money from Veitch one person at the meeting commented that it was “akin to extortion”.

Key said last night: “We will need to look at the circumstances in which TVNZ was given the information (by Veitch).”

The PM said Coleman would speak with TVNZ CEO Rick Ellis later this week and before either men commented further they wanted more information. TVNZ spokeswoman Megan Richards said the broadcaster had conducted itself with the “greatest of care through the conflicting requirements” of various legislation.

Veitch’s spokeswoman Glenda Hughes last night said: “All I can say is that Tony has been consistent with his story from the very start and he continues to be consistent. If you go back through everything he has said from the start you will see he has not once changed his version.”

Last month, Veitch pleaded guilty to one charge of injuring Dunne-Powell with reckless disregard.

He was sentenced to 300 hours of community service and fined $10,000.

  3. village idiot (748) Says:

    Viking2 – because he’s a control freak and a populist.

  4. Redbaiter (13,197) Says:

“Now can anyone tell me why the PM would want to bother with this stuff?”

He’s being advised by Public relations experts, who want Key to remain popular with the kind of Shortland Street retards who think that Veitch is an issue but that political corruption in the upper echelons of the Police Force is a bore.

  5. Patrick Starr (3,662) Says:

why doesn’t he just focus on being the PM for a while? – FFS even poking his nose into the Hillary museum drama

  6. Viking2 (6,125) Says:

    This from HoS.

“Veitch’s lawyer Stuart Grieve has said the police file should never have been made public.

“The material disclosed to the media contains allegations which have never been tested and which would have been the subject of serious challenge had the matter proceeded to a defended hearing. It is not evidence and should not and cannot be taken as representing a true account of what occurred.”

He said Veitch felt “let down” by the system. It is understood Veitch has laid a complaint with the PCA.

Greive is one hundred % correct and the police should be taken to court for releasing the file. No wonder they are no longer trusted by Kiwi’s.

Key would be better to ask his employee’s why they released this file. Why won’t they release Ellis’s and Watsons as well as Brash’s.

  7. reid (9,990) Says:

For those few of us interested in geopolitics, and are worried about Pakistan.

US stirs a hornet’s nest in Pashtun.

  8. starboard (2,447) Says:

Anybody see Hone “the muss” Harawira on Q&A this morn..what a dirtbag. Biggest racist on the planet…

  9. Redbaiter (13,197) Says:

    For you Reid-

  10. Southern Raider (1,317) Says:

Anyone else vomit over the story on the front page of the SST in regards to the family selling all because of the recession?

I’m sorry but this makes me fuckin wild that real families are living on the bread line yet some fuckwit wanna be who has no concept of reality is turned into the “face of the recession”.

This had nothing to do with the recession just greed, ego and a lack of the accounting skills expected to be achieved by most 5 year olds.

Some of the classics have to be
    - buying a $20K baby grand piano. Does anyone in the house actually play this or does it just look good
    - of course the $100K HSV, bike and boat. Felt insecure after visiting big boys toys

And of course the wife acknowledging she should have looked at the bank statement sometime in the last three years.

  11. Southern Raider (1,317) Says:

    Also in the hypocrite category.

Sri Lanka has send a request to the UN endorsed by 12 other countries to butt out of their internal politics and not to even think of looking into possible “war crimes”.

Now I have no issue with Sri Lanka, but look at the list of countries that have signed this endorsement. They include Bolivia, Egypt and Saudi Arabia. I’m sure these countries are the ones always hammering Israel and saying the UN needs to take control.

Also we have Somalian Govt being backed by the West to stop the Islamic militants at all costs. 17,500 civilians dead in the last two years. Surely the UN should be calling for sactions against the Somalian Govt and we should have world wide street protests calling for them to stop defending their country.

  12. village idiot (748) Says:

Hone Harawira knows that John Key will assign seats on the Auckland Council to Maori. Once the hikoi is done, Key will ‘respond’ to the voice of Maori and grant them their rights. (Sickened laugh)

  13. metcalph (751) Says:

Greive is one hundred % correct and the police should be taken to court for releasing the file. No wonder they are no longer trusted by Kiwi’s.

I would have a lot more sympathy for Greive if his client’s underlings hadn’t been releasing their own deceptive spin of the charges in the months before the trial.

  14. Patrick Starr (3,662) Says:

Southern Raider – anyone who names their daugther “Porsche” and their son “Jag” has more problems than just the recession

  15. Southern Raider (1,317) Says:

And just for Reid etc. Taken from http://www.drybonesblog.com

    11) Why did “The Palestinians” never try to become independent until after the devasting defeat of invading Arab states in the 1967 six day war?

  16. Southern Raider (1,317) Says:

Patrick agree but why do the MSM have to glorify these idiots and normalise their actions?

The title should have been “Dumb Arse Wanna Be’s Forced to Live Like the Rest of Us”

  17. grumpyoldhori (2,102) Says:

Nukes and Iran, while every bugger is worried that Iran may get nukes we have a country falling apart which does have nukes.
But I do enjoy the hypocrisy of the yanks, do not want nukes in the middle east, except for one country
Dumb bastards helped let the genie out of the bottle now they have no chance of stopping Iran from getting instant sunshine weapons.

  18. dime (3,925) Says:

i hope lefties arent complaining about the power companies over charging us 4 billion dollars.. over 7 freakin years!

you people want to send 3 billion a year to russia FFS

  19. Redbaiter (13,197) Says:

“But I do enjoy the hypocrisy of the yanks,”

There’s few posters on here that share your own vile record for hypocrisy, exampled this time in your hate for the “yanks” when if it wasn’t for thousands of their soldiers dying in the Pacific defending New Zealand, you’d be working for Toyota, eating sushi and drinking saki today.

  20. jarbury (461) Says:

My word it was fun walking across the Auckland Harbour Bridge today. Did anyone else here do it?

  21. Whafe (636) Says:

How many turned out for the Bridge Walk today, anyone know?

Has or will it help achieve anything?

  22. jarbury (461) Says:

Quite a few thousand, check out this pic to get an idea of the crowd: http://www.aucklandtrains.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/protest1.jpg

Hopefully it is the first step towards having pedestrian/cyclist access to the Harbour Bridge. A few more protests and I hope NZTA at least reconsider it. They could even just open it up on Sundays for us to enjoy at the very least.

To all motorists who got caught in the traffic chaos – this was NZTA’s fault. If they had been organised then lanes could have stayed open. It was NZTA who stuffed this up and led to all the northbound lanes having to be closed.

  23. AG (1,232) Says:

    reddy:
“if it wasn’t for thousands of their soldiers dying in the Pacific defending New Zealand, you’d be working for Toyota, eating sushi and drinking saki today.”

Somewhat ironic, then, that Toyota has five major assembly plants in Huntsville, Alabama; Georgetown, Kentucky; Princeton, Indiana; San Antonio, Texas; Buffalo, West Virginia. And that it has the fastest growing share of the US car market …
    http://articles.moneycentral.msn.com/Investing/Extra/TheUnitedStatesOfToyota.aspx
Does that mean those thousands died for nothing?

And what’s wrong with sushi? Or saki for that matter.

  24. Viking2 (6,125) Says:

Thought Hone was intelligent and fair in the interview. Made the point that the world hasn’t fallen apart since the Maori Party hooked up with National. Indeed there seems to be progress with a number of issues. Clearly he stands for Maori but he also stands for Pakeha when it is necessary. The previous attitudes and inattention have caused grief so we need to try something else.

Further to my thoughts on the hipocrasy of Key wanting to investigate TVNZ he should also have a look at this mans actions. Make a good mate to Klark. Oh he was.

Council investigation – I’ve done nothing wrong: Mayor

    18.05.2009
    by Imran Ali

Far North Mayor Wayne Brown is under investigation by his chief executive after filling out council submission forms in other people’s names.

Mr Brown completed six submissions to the district council’s draft long-term plan in the name of his wife Toni, and employee Wayne Franks, as well as two submissions each in the names of business partners Sean Kennedy and Eddie Aicken.

The mayor did not disclose on the forms that he had made the submissions on behalf of the other parties and, under FNDC rules, he was not required to.

Mr Brown said he made the submissions publicly across the FNDC counter.

Submissions to the long-term plans have the potential to influence council spending and decision-making.

Cr Ian Bamber has asked chief executive Colin Dale to investigate and has queried whether the practice is ethical.

Cr Bamber asked for the probe after noticing the handwriting was similar in four submissions and that the mayor’s telephone number and address was on the form in Mr Franks’ name.

“There’s nothing illegal in that [writing submissions on others' behalf] but … I’ve asked the CEO to investigate,” Mr Bamber said.

Toni Brown told the Northern Advocate she was unaware of the submission in her name, but that her husband may have filled it out.

However, all the other parties knew.

Mr Brown said he made no secret about the submissions. “If someone’s trying to allege there’s something naughty there, well, why would I have done it over the counter? Where’s the trick there? Nowhere do you have to sign the form … You just have to be genuinely representing the name of the people.”

He said Crs Bamber and Laurie Byers, who had seconded the motion calling for the investigation, were trying to find “any dirt” they could throw at him.

The mayor agreed with his CEO that there were loopholes in the “stupid” submission forms.

“The forms don’t ask you to sign them, they don’t ask you to give your name, your age, and whether you’re working or not because I would have said we missed a golden opportunity to find out who’s submitting.”

The mayor’s cellphone and postal box numbers are listed under submitter Wayne Franks’ name.

Mr Dale said one weakness was “not getting people to sign the forms.”. The other weakness was not specifying how forms should be completed, like asking submitters ‘Are you the submitter?”‘ He will table a report into the investigation at a council meeting on May 27.

Local Government NZ did not specify rules, communications manager Kirsty Anderson said. “Each council has to make its own decisions on submissions and how they relate to the principles of the Local Government Act.

  25. big bruv (9,840) Says:

I missed John Harawhira on Q & A this morning but I understand he came out with a classic line that went something like

“I would hate to be a pakeha”

Substitute the word pakeha for the word Maori and swap the person saying it from brown to white and watch what would happen.

Sometimes I fucking hate this country.

  26. Patrick Starr (3,662) Says:

yes Bruv, 9 long years of indoctrinating the population as to the evils of white, heterosexual middle class tax paying males has taken it’s toll.
Problem is I dont yet believe there is yet a strong enough wrist in the corridors of power to correct this travesty

  27. Banana Llama (1,105) Says:

If Pakistan goes to the wall you will have fundamentalist states with nuclear weapons in the middle east, GOH is right, instant sunshine for everyone.

  28. village idiot (748) Says:

Big bruv – “I missed John Harawhira on Q & A this morning but I understand he came out with a classic line that went something like…”
Get a grip bruv, you didn’t even see the interview. You’re shooting your mouth off.

“Sometimes I fucking hate this country”
And get onto an anger management programme.

  29. Chris G (106) Says:

hone is an angry man. but really burt, chill out.

who cares that he said ‘I would hate to be a pakeha’ – you know he’s kidding himself. We all know that white males have a disproportionate amount of power.

Southern Raider. I thoroughly agree with you re: that twit labelled the ‘Face of the Recession’ What a fuckin joke. I read that shaking my head at those idiots.

The names ‘Porshe’ and ‘Jag’ are without a doubt the funniest part of that family’s affairs.

  30. starboard (2,447) Says:

I missed John Harawhira on Q & A this morning but I understand he came out with a classic line that went something like

“I would hate to be a pakeha”

Yup..pretty much right. Just a complete asswipe racist and he gets away with it. Its beyond me. His arrogance is beyond reproach. Fuck you Harawira..you’re a c-u-n-t.

  31. Murray M (455) Says:

Its shit that comes out of the mouths of c-u-n-t-s like John Harawhira that makes me spend most of the year in Queensland and pay my taxes in Australia. So John you are depriving two of your beneficiary bludging cuzzies an income.

  32. rolla_fxgt (175) Says:

I’m looking forward to the Police charging every single person that crossed the harbour bridge today, to the full extent of the law.

I can think of quite a few charges they could press. 1 illegally being on a motorway, 2 Obstruction of justice (for those who pushed past police), 3 disturbing the peace, 4 unlawful assembly. To name just a few.

I think everyone who crossed should be charged, with images from the bridge cameras used to help identify them. Even kids should be charged, or parents of those to young to be charged, with perhaps extra charges like endangering a minor added to to the parents list of charges.

Imagine the outrage if boy racers decided they’d had enough of waiting for a race track, or enough of the overzealous police persecution, and used the harbour bridge as a drag strip, after being told not to by transit & the police. I can bet you they’d all be charged, and most would loose their cars.
How is this any different? The answer is it isn’t.
Why didn’t the Police use the Dunedin police tactic of turning up to situations like this with riot control gear, or call for reinforcements? The police & those who committed this outrage need to be dealt to, and answer for their actions.

I imagine if any of the drivers held up by this outrage had made a break for it and carried on with their lawful journey, the police would of charged them, so why not equal enforcement for all?

  33. starboard (2,447) Says:

“I’m looking forward to the Police charging every single person that crossed the harbour bridge today, to the full extent of the law.”

    Get a life

  34. Steve (2,169) Says:

    Yeah copy and pasted.

The drivers would be charged, instant fines, even arrested etc etc.
The rent a mob will never be charged for breaking the law because they are special people.
Get on your bike or walk the long way round if you want to save on fuel.
The bridge was made for quicker transport, not flakes who cycle or walk and then get a vehicle back over the other way.
Oh mum, I walked the bridge today and the cops were not happy, great day huh? I pissed off the cops.
Here is a pic of me on TV being a wanker

Imagine if some mentally challenged, deranged idiot decided to make the untimate protest and jumped.
We walk amonst them. Fuckwits with nothing better to do.
Police overwhelmed? Where are the TAZERS?

  35. Whafe (636) Says:

Will be interesting to see the media tomorrow after the Sunday show and the Anti Smacking PC bullshit law…. Where by the guy was found guilty for one of the 3 charges….. Feel for the guy immensly….

  36. adam2314 (211) Says:

when if it wasn’t for thousands of their soldiers dying in the Pacific defending New Zealand, you’d be working for Toyota, eating sushi and drinking saki today.

I do not want to dishonour all of those that died.

America did not go to war with Japan to defend NZ.

We were a convenient base for their activities.

  37. Patrick Starr (3,662) Says:

DPF – FFS have you seen what the Standard is accusing you of?

“The Standard now largest NZ political blog?
    http://www.thestandard.org.nz/the-standard-now-largest-nz-political-blog/
Gentle ribbing aside, did you see the fast one DPF pulled last week?
He put up a post noting that the ipredict stock on Jim Anderton announcing his retirement this year had been increasing and strongly suggesting that someone was buying with inside knowledge (which is all well and good). The stock rose further on that news. A couple of hours later DPF put up an update purporting to be an email from Jim Anderton saying he was not retiring. The stock crashed but, as he wrote, DPF had been able to get out first.
Deciding how to realise information to the market and when allowed DPF to make a tidy sum of money in a couple of hours. It seems that goes beyond the mere use of insider information, which is good in a predictions market, to actively manipulating the market, which is at least unethical.
You have to wonder too, who had pushed the stock up in the first place to lay the grounds for the bait and switch if there was no underlying truth to it. It could be that DPF pulled a pump and dump.
ipredict is DPF’s company If DPF wants to use his power as an information distributor to rip people off that’s his business but I’ve closed my ipredict account.- Marty G”

  38. Redbaiter (13,197) Says:

“I do not want to dishonour all of those that died.”

Well you just did. Why don’t you take your VUSA, Workers Party, Global Peace and Justice bullshit somewhere else you nauseating commie. If there was no threat to NZ, what the hell were NZ soldiers fighting for?

  39. Redbaiter (13,197) Says:

    “We all know”

How about if you’re going to portray yourself as an ignorant fool you refrain from assuming to speak for everyone else in New Zealand?

“that white males have a disproportionate amount of power.”

The racist Maori Party has political representation far beyond its vote base and Maoris also have their own seats. You’re talking utter bullshit. Not that I’ve seen one post from you on here that wasn’t the same worthless crap.
