You heard it here first!

NZPA reports:

Wellington, May 6 NZPA – New Zealand Post chief executive John Allen will be the next head of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, NZPA understands.

I like this new order of reporting senior appointments:

  1. Tipped on Kiwiblog
  2. Predicted on Transtasman
  3. Reported on NZPA
  4. Announced by the SSC

He seemed quite reasonable when I heard him speak a little while back, he probably wont mess things up too much I guess.

Careful David, you also reported your own death a few days ago.

It’ll be on the front page of tomorrows Dom at this rate.

It’s OK Murray, his track record is less reliable on deaths. He once reported the death of Michael Laws. It was bloody funny at the time.

So, the appointee has to read KB to find out someone knows he could be in the running, read Transtasman to find out he may get the job, read NZPA to ascertain that it is probable he has got it and then to have the SSC announce confirmation that he has got it.

At what stage in the above process is the appointee actually told he has the job. And is it a surprise?

Will Jim Anderton be eyeing up the possibility of a Kiwibank branch in each NZ Embassy and High Commission office?

So what is the loose lips score?
    McCully 1 vs Mandarins 0
    McCully 1 vs Mandarins 1
    McCully 0 vs Mandarins 1
