    Maybe this is computer generated!!!

  2. Jeff83 (751) Says:

I see Israel has successfully sabotaged another round of peace talks, with their puppets on the right in the US seeing demands for a cease of building settlements as an “unreasonable request”.

  3. MT_Tinman (1,666) Says:

Most of yesterday the news was led by information that the poor bloody taxpayer was going to have to fork out for fast internet connection for those who choose to live in the wop-wops.

Why can’t the bastards who choose to live in for out places pay for it them-bloody-selves?

  4. Inventory2 (7,224) Says:

Interesting comment by Trevor Mallard yesterday about photo opportunities. He has a VERY short memory!

Why do you not apply the same logic to those who want me to pay the cost of hosting a rugby world cup?

Next you’ll be suggesting it should cost more to send a letter from Auckland to Invercargill than it does from Mt Eden to Mt Albert.

  8. Brian Smaller (3,409) Says:

Mr TM – I use Farmside satellite. Go and see how much it costs. I do pay for it, and I also pay taxes that are used to build infrastructure in the cities. Can I have a rebate please?

  9. Doug (342) Says:

    MT_ Tinman
You are typical of Labour and Labour supporters, shoot self in foot comes to mind.

  10. big bruv (9,840) Says:

It is better to stay silent and let others think you are an idiot than to comment and remove all doubt.

  11. big bruv (9,840) Says:

Nope, I will use yours as I always do when I want to pay for things I do not want Mrs Bruv to know about.

Brian I also live in a rural area – have for many years (as Big Bruv will attest).

Brian, I CHOOSE to live in this area and (admittedly not happily) pay the costs associated with this choice.

As an aside Brian, the infrastructure required for you to live in a rural area (roading etc. plus policing, emergency services et al ) is likely to cost the NZ taxpayer more per person than those who live in urban areas.

Can the NZ taxpayer have a refund please.

I do like it when Christian types rant that their values are better than others.

Hmm, those Mormon politicians gave him a standing ovation in the state senate when he resigned, they do have strange values.

    Jeff
    see the bigger picture.
Israel is being told what it can do in its sovereign territory (won by war) and it’s capital, Jerusalem.
The Arabs have never even met their conditions of agreements that they’ve signed only Israel is expected too.
The buildings are legit and in their area of authority.
Biden was coming over to announce (whoop de doo) that they were restarting 3rd party talks as 1st party broke down on the Arabs side 15 months ago and they refused to talk since!
Will Arabs get castigated for formenting violence?
    NO! Duh.

Meanwhile OB1 is terrified that Israel will hit the Iranians and close down their nuke program for a while and make him look weaker than he already is.
As closet Muslim he is bound to obfuscate until they have a Nuke.
He is embattled at home so needs an outside pressure event to look strong because he hasn’t got any at home to point too.

Great thing is more Americans support Israel now than at the beginning of his presidency.
    Most of those aren’t Jews.

  15. MikeNZ (3,234) Says:

    you are such a plank!
A Morman is not a christian, it is cult all on it’s own.
They believe that when they die they go to the planet Golb and get given a planet of their own and breed more little gods.
The redeeming work of Jesus in no way gets in the way of this, neither does His millenial reign.

This is so ingrained that women will often marry men based on their ranking in the Temple and heirachy as that determines the status of planet they might get and her salvation is based on his.

Laughably dismal “free Palestine” demonstration on Lambton Quay this lunchtime, about a dozen unemployables chanting out of time with each other.

  17. wreck1080 (2,009) Says:

The new ASB “kiwi bank” advertising is bordering on fraudulent.

They are an Aussie owned bank, so to label themselves a kiwi bank is really deceptive.

I think the only true kiwi banks in nz are kiwibank and TSB. Correct me if I’m wrong.

  18. Pete George (12,308) Says:

“A Morman is not a christian, it is cult all on it’s own.”

They are the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

“They believe that when they die they go to the planet Golb and get given a planet of their own and breed more little gods.”

Why is that more incredible than heaven and hell beliefs? At least we know that other planets exist.

  19. kaya (1,360) Says:

Tinman – there must be some return in it or they wouldn’t do it. Not enough voters in the wops to be doing it as a bribe. (BTW I’m typing this from a bach on Gt Barrier using my own satellite equipment which I bought and paid for, happy St Pat’s!).

  20. KiwiGreg (2,273) Says:

“I think the only true kiwi banks in nz are kiwibank and TSB. Correct me if I’m wrong.”

depends what you mean by “kiwi bank”. If it takes NZers deposits, lends money to NZers, employs NZers and operates branches in NZ is it somehow less “kiwi” because the share certificates are held by Australians? At least you could buy a stake in ASB (through CBA) unlike the 2 “kiwi banks” you cite.

Yeah Mike, the planet Kolob, the Chamber of Guf and Jinn aint got nothing on a virgin birth and a resurrection.

  22. wreck1080 (2,009) Says:

Well, yes, actually it is less of a kiwi bank in that case.

It is my opinion that ASB are trying to convince people they are buying “NZ made” with ASB products.

However, the adverts neglect to mention that not-insignificant profits are repatriated to Australia. That is, when they are not being penalised for ripping off the tax system.

  23. Put it away (2,307) Says:

Mormons are fun to bring up when regular xtians are trying to push their spiel on you, you can say “well, as tempting as it sounds to spend eternity telling your god how great he is, I’m considering a better offer from the mormons”.

  25. KiwiGreg (2,273) Says:

“However, the adverts neglect to mention that not-insignificant profits are repatriated to Australia. ”

Or indeed the not insignificant amounts of (Australian) capital deployed to allow the bank to function.

If you think the ads are misleading (I think they are pretty clear) you can have recourse to the ASA

  26. cha (1,196) Says:

  31. Pete George (12,308) Says:

ASB are on to the the “Kiwi bank” issue – they have just sent out an email detailing what makes them a “Kiwi bank”, and point to a web page that I think covers the same information: http://www.asb.co.nz/kiwi

(I do most of my banking with Kiwibank but also do some banking with “the Kiwi bank”).

Heh, put a bit of bait out and those who support strange sects bite like Great Whites :-)

MikeNZ, close down the Iranian nukes, using what, nukes ? that would be clever they are likely to find Russia or China treating Israel like a mad dog and wiping it from the Middle East with nukes.
Believe Americans would support Israel in a case like that ?

What will be interesting is what happens if Israel sinks those Turkish aid ships going to Gaza.
The Turks are one bunch the Israelis should be wary of, after all even the ANZACs came second to them in a scrap on Gallipoli.

  34. TimG_Oz (672) Says:

GOH – the aid is not from the Turkish Government, but from a separate aid organisation. It’s pretty unlikely that anybody would be sunk.

Finally, Turkey and Israel are friends! The “borders” (by air, obviously) are open between the two. Israel has sister cities in Turkey!

However, you’ll find that Turkey and Syria aren’t exactly friendly…

The jury has retired to consider its verdict in the Waihopai Ploughshares case.

The defence of “Claim of right” is alive, and the jury has to decide if the crown has eliminated it beyond reasonable doubt.

Acquittal possible if not probable. Conviction unlikely.

    Bets anyone?

  37. LC (162) Says:

The theory doing the rounds is that Israel will nuke Iran facilities, but claim that they used conventional bunker busters. Any resulting radioactive fallout would be blamed on the Iranian ‘nukes’. Good one.

  38. Repton (769) Says:

Wait — acquittal is “not probable” but conviction is unlikely? What is the third option?

  39. Viking2 (6,125) Says:

So at last the Nats. have shown their true lack of guts and commonsense.

No support for youth wage rates

    Wednesday, 17, Mar, 2010 3:43PM

Bad news for ACT MP Sir Roger Douglas and his bid to bring back youth wage rates for 16 and 17-year-olds.

The National Party Caucus has decided not to support his Private Members’ Bill.

Without National behind it the Bill is doomed to fail, as Labour and the Greens strongly oppose it.

Apparently its Ok for young people to remain unemployable. They are truly fucking hopeless. The Nats I mean, not the young people.

“I think the only true kiwi banks in nz are kiwibank and TSB. Correct me if I’m wrong.”

Wrong. SBS is a true kiwi bank.

PSIS is not, strictly speaking, a bank, as their literature takes pains to point out.

  41. Inventory2 (7,224) Says:

The law is indeed an ass if protesters can scale a barbed-wire fence, wilfully damage the property within, then claim that they didn’t know that they were doing anything illegal. Whatever happened to the old concept that ignorance of the law is not an excuse for breaking it?

  42. eszett (1,024) Says:

Well, it’s not guilty after all.

    http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/crime/3466305/Waihopai-activists-found-not-guilty

  43. MikeNZ (3,234) Says:

The verdict is open season on anything they deem to be unlawful and causing human suffering.
Just goes to prove our judiciary are not fit for purpose and have made the legal system a lottery.

Breaking into someone else’s property with the intention to destroy or damage property that doesn’t belong to you is not excusable. They should have been convicted and sentenced to jail.
Bet if members of the security forces had shot or manhandled them, they would have been up for it.

So it’s open season on abortion practitioners and clinics in God zone now is it?

I want to add to this, just why the fuck does the Bammy regime think that screwing over its traditional allies (Britain, Israel) to appease Islamist thugs, Arab oil sheiks and Chavez puppets is a strategy that will work? “We need courage!” he yells. Yeah, we’ll need courage to get through the next three years with Axelrod, Emanuel and Biden in charge of US foreign policy. Good analysis of the clusterfuck on Mere Rhetoric, clean of the pro-BR shite excreted by the Dependent.

On a different point: the BR gave the green light to the largest arms sale to Taiwan since 2001 a few months back. Why are the Palis now more important than the Chicoms?

  47. Fisiani (539) Says:

Tony Ryall said “Under Labour’s trend there would be 2,700 more public servant positions than there are now. At an estimated average cost of $63,000 for a Public Service salary, that’s around $170 million in staff costs saved and available for reinvestment in frontline services. ”

Hawaii considering law to ignore Obama ‘birthers’

HONOLULU (AP) – Birthers beware: Hawaii may start ignoring your repeated requests for proof that President Barack Obama was born here.

As the state continues to receive e-mails seeking Obama’s birth certificate, the state House Judiciary Committee heard a bill Tuesday permitting government officials to ignore people who won’t give up.
