Meanwhile, left wing mainstream media outlets lose money as they stubbornly continue to place politics above profit. NZ broadcasters should take note.

Phil, if the Labour Party are talking about taking GST off food they are further from recovery than I thought.

Cunliffe said this morning that the move was being considered.

He also confirmed that there are discussions within the party to exempt food from GST, following a policy already in place in some countries including the UK.

However, Cunliffe told Radio New Zealand the proposed move has not yet been discussed by the Labour caucus.

Looks like they ARE further from recovery than I thought. Nuts.

I feel not one jolt of hypocrisy thanks Philu. You see drop kick I have learned to look at the world thru progressive eyes. When you socialist fucks introduced WFF I saw it for what it is, a plain and simple bribe to the middle classes. I was very much against WFF but I soon got over this for one simple reason. As a family we were entitled to WFF, point one, I didn’t write the rules the socialist criminals did. Point two and why I claim WFF. A good progressive will despise the right and one of the ways a progressive and a progressive system will attempt to gain power will be to collapse the system in place. Myself and my family do not require WFF, it is now simply paying our tax. What you fail to understand phil if everyone who is entitled to WFF claimed it this would put such pressure on the system it simply can’t sustain itself any longer. Of course you will not believe this, I really don’t fucking care, it’s the best way I can see how to kick this crap to the curb. I would encourage everyone to claim WFF. We didn’t introduce or write this law, why start spewing when we take advantage of it.

I’ve paid hundreds of thousands of tax dollars in my working life phil, if my life circumstances change and I can structure my business to pay less tax, I will do so, it’s the name of the game. You can rant and rave all you like, if you want to spew your ring out get upset with those who introduce and write such laws. The Spiegel story linked to below has two lessons for NZ – one on where to buy its railway gear, the other on why China is interested in NZ dairying. The latter is so that it can suck up our technology and flatten us on world markets, as they are doing in rail technology. Note the huge subsidies the Chinese State gives by covering operational losses.

Tax Matters.
Todays headline about the many millions made from bonus shares by the managers of NZX.
Now us poor property investors haver taken a pasting for our unscrupulous ripping off of the taxpayer and the argument was that we should be taxed on our ill gotten gains.
My question (and I don’t know the answer but someone out there will), is: are these fellows paying any tax, either capital gains tax or any income tax on these windfall profits, which are incidentally much greater than I can make on a house in a year or even five.?

NZX chief executive Mark Weldon has cashed in more than 6 million bonus shares issued the bourse operator’s profit distribution plan, netting about $11.7 million, based on the strike price of $1.8728 per share.

Chairman Andrew Harmos and senior executive Geoff Brown also elected to take cash out the majority of their bonus share entitlements, which were offered in lieu of NZX’s 6.5 cents per share dividend for 2009.

Harmos sold 184,724 bonus shares for $345,951 and Brown disposed of 599,084 shares for $1.12 million, the disclosure statement shows.

NZX offered the bonus shares at a 3.5 percent discount to their prevailing price in late March.

Why don’t you try looking for a job in a town where you have no friends to fall back on. You may well than appreciate how difficult it can be. Try walking in someone elses shoes for a while.
OK so there are some bluggers out there but there is still a lot of people that have been laid off for lack of work and the results are yet to be permanent.
We have yet to see how many have been shifted into other programs and we have yet to add on those that have gone back to school or uni because there were no jobs.
Education enrollment is up about 20% and you and I are funding that.
Apply some thinking to your attitudes.

p.s. In my recent experience the Winz guys work hard to place people especially the young ones who are locked out of employment by the useless National Govt and their refusal to allow youth rates.

It’s another sop to the racist Maori Party. Neville Key’s way of bribing them to get along to vote with the National Party when the time comes to inflict higher taxes on the rest of us, e.g., ACC, ETS.

You can also see it as quid-pro-quo for passing the seabed and foreshore legislation, where the Maori Party gets its deadly wishes against the rest of the population.

In the vocabulary of the National Party’s minions and acolytes the process is called democracy or MMP accommodation. For me it reeks of expediency and a complete lack of principles. Political cowardice at its worst.

Lovely small terakihi for tea tonight, then I went to the Tv room to watch parliament. As I sipped on my delightful chardonnay I saw delayed coverage of Toerag Henare and some moll from Nelson who’s tongue in groove partner has expensive tastes in travel. They were spouting about the Waikato Raupatu claim. I watched as they waxed eloquently about how the Waikato River and its tributaries are so majestic and are hallowed ground.
Then I thought; if you were travelling north along highway one and the rain was falling and you were approaching the intersection with highway 29 at Piarere (just north of Tirau, before you get to Cambridge); your wipers would be going in the rain; and you would look out and see that the raindrops to the left of your motor car were hallowed raindrops because they would fall into the Waikato River catchment, but those raindrops to the right of your car; they are nothing raindrops; they will fall into the Piako River catchment and that river does not have the divine rights of the Waikato River.
This is fucking bullshit.
I was reminded of my mate who exclaimed;
“If I want to listen to shit, I’ll fart”.
