As alcoholism is setting in for all to see, and stelvins are ever more on the increase, I am going to be bold and go for 613. Many many stelvins in there and very few good old corks.
    And I’ll go for a 75% to 25% split.

After carefully measuring the containers, the height, the relative “crush” of the various items, allowing for perspective and windage…then throwing all that out with a wild guess…648 with 94% Stelvins.

Not many vineyards persist with corks, just a few who seriously value the aging process. Even my not insubstantial cellar is coming closer to 50% stelvin closures.

Perhaps asking how many of the corks are from bottles you paid for yourself might make it a bit more interesting, would make the task of counting them a bit easier too.

    What’s the definition of alcoholism?

The biological mechanisms underpinning alcoholism are uncertain, however, risk factors include social environment, stress, mental health, genetic predisposition, age, ethnic group, and sex. Long-term alcohol abuse produces physiological changes in the brain such as tolerance and physical dependence. Such brain chemistry changes maintain the alcoholic’s compulsive inability to stop drinking and result in alcohol withdrawal syndrome upon discontinuation of alcohol consumption. Alcohol damages almost every organ in the body, including the brain; because of the cumulative toxic effects of chronic alcohol abuse, the alcoholic risks suffering a range of medical and psychiatric disorders. Alcoholism has profound social consequences for alcoholics and the people in their lives.

Most of them consumed alone too probably, according to the people down the hall.

Just hope the rumour is not true David after consuming so many bottles of wine.

A cabbie picks up a Nun.
She gets into the cab, and notices that the VERY handsome cab driver won’t stop staring at her.

She asks him why he is staring.

    He replies:
‘I have a question to ask you but I don’t want to offend you.’

    She answers,
‘My son, you cannot offend me. When you’re as old as I am and have been a nun as long as I have, you get a chance to see and hear just about everything. I’m sure that there’s nothing you could say or ask that I would find offensive.’

‘Well, I’ve always had a fantasy to have a nun kiss me.’

    She responds,
‘Well, let’s see what we can do about that:

1, you have to be single and

    2, you must be Catholic.’

The cab driver is very excited and says,
    ‘Yes, I’m single and Catholic!’

‘OK’ the nun says. ‘Pull into the next alley.’
The nun fulfils his fantasy, with a kiss that would make a hooker blush.

But when they get back on the road, the cab driver starts crying.
‘My dear child,’ says the nun, ‘why are you crying?’

‘Forgive me but I’ve sinned. I lied and I must confess, I’m married and I’m Jewish.’

    The nun says, ‘That’s OK.
My name is David and I’m going to a fancy dress party.’
