Rugby World Cup 17 September 2011
September 17th, 2011 at 6:12 pm by David FarrarYesterday
- NZ v Japan 83 – 7. A very reassuring game.
Today
- Argentina 43 v Romania 8
- South Africa v Fiji – no now. Bloody difficult to know who to cheer for. I’ve decided to support the Boks.
- Australia v Ireland – 8.30 pm
Tomorrow
- Wales v Samoa – 3.30 pm. Hoping Samoa do an upset.
- England v Georgia 6.00 pm. All behind Georgia.
- France vs Canada 8.30 pm. Can Canada do it again?

Just got back from watching Argentina v Romania live at Rugby Park Invercargill. Great occasion! Huge number of Puma fans present, the stand was dominated by blue and white (as was the sky actually – in just the right shades). Very happy crowd – had a Mexican wave going round the ground at one point about six laps. Fun rugby to watch also – plenty of tries. At one pont Romania grapped an intercept about 10m from their own try-line, ran it all the way up the field, only to be stopped about 5m from the Argentine line, at which point the Pumas got the ball back and ran it all the way back for a try!

Went to The Cloud last night – it’s a piece of crap. Better to watch games in a pub somewhere than that shithole.

Must support my forebears fellow countrymen – Go Wales. Although I am glad that I am nowhere near some of my old classmates from Viard College when I say that.

We are all different. I thought the cloud was great! Going back next week for the Fiji v Samoa game.

Boks looked ominously good tonight. Fiji was out-muscled, out-skilled and out-thought.

Some questions:
Vote:1. Has the All Black A team played yet?
2. Do Henry Smith & hansen know what it is?
3. Will the A team play together before the knockout rounds? More than once?
4. Will the selectors continue to use the round robin as a trial to find, among other things, a winger – given that they only selected one wing who simply isn’t up to it?
5. Is SBW the back up to Dan?
6. When will SBW make his debut at No8?
7. Have we seen all this before? It seems familiar.

Having a good feed is no excuse to support the old enemy! Heh.
Boks looked good. I suspected Fiji would fall over if they couldn’t make a contest of it for some of the game up front….that was the case. The yarpies had a good structured defence too.
The big guns are starting to show a bit of form. AB’s were impressive……next week is gonna be massive!

Check this out: http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/rugby/5642613/Aussie-Irish-fans-shun-Aucklands-public-transport
The reporter is trying SO hard to find someone to dis on the transport last week but she failed miserably. You wouldn’t know that from the text though.
Well seeing as there were no dramas in Hamilton last night I guess Philly is going to congratulate the Government on how well they handled controlling Hamiltons public transport systems.

Nookin, you’re worrying about nothing. The base of the No 1 team has pretty much been together, especially the tight five….we’ll get a better gauge next week against another well structured team in the French.
The midfield were good last night and as long as Slade, Toeava (no pressure butter fingers) & Guildford (all over butter fingers) don’t get too much time, we’ll be right enough.
Wobblies in a few minutes, GO Ireland!!

>Bloody difficult to know who to cheer for.
So we were all Welsh last week, but Samoan tomorrow (so anti-Welsh) and anti-RSA last week but pro earlier today (possibly)… before all being Irish?
Bloody difficult to keep up

If the Irish had a backline it would have been a rout. Amazing game.

How much proof do Robbie Deans fans need before they will finally admit that the guy is a crap coach?
Vote:September 17th, 2011 at 11:16 pm
They beat us last time round BB. And we fielded an A team (if there is one).
Vote:September 18th, 2011 at 12:27 am
Yes, it is because one of Aus or SA will knock the other one out and we only have to face one of them
