I have decided to simply ignore philu today, unless he makes an effort to grow up and act like a mature adult – yeah, can’t see that happening.
I highly recommend others to do the same. Let’s see if he gets the message that petulant immature posturing is not particularly becoming in a 60-year-old man.
Key suggests doing nothing.
David Shearer suggests manual labourers should get super sooner.
The Maori Party says Maori should get super sooner. They have a shorter life expectancy.
“..The forthcoming biography of Barack Obama by Davd Maraniss already grabbed the nation’s attention with accounts of the President’s former girlfriends -
- and now even more so as details of his pot-smoking past in Hawaii have emerged.
As it turns out, Obama wasn’t just an occasional smoker -
- but part of a legitimate crew of marijuana enthusiasts (he and his friends called themselves the “Choom Gang” –
Here’s a story you won’t hear much of because it doesn’t fit with ‘the official western narrative’:
A Pakistani doctor was jailed last week for alleged links to a banned militant group – not for helping the CIA to track down Osama Bin Laden, the text of the trial court’s judgement shows.
Whether it is true or not is another matter. Who knows?
Using their logic, lets allocate a tick for each box… Labourer, tick…. Maori, tick… Male, tick… And lets add smoker for measure, tick!
So we have a male Maori labourer that smokes. You can retire at 45! Mind you, if you’re getting $30 ph as Willie Jackson wants to, you could save quite a bit towards your retirement. And yeah, my tongue is firmly in my cheek.
Instead, they have pitched in another idea: that bright sunshine – or the lack of it – is to blame for variation in swing.
“When the ground heats, it makes convection currents which make the air rise off the cricket pitch – that creates turbulence in the air on a sunny day,” Dr James explained.
“On a cloudy day you get stiller air, because you don’t get these convection currents coming off the ground.”
So there you go. Cloud + still conditions = swing.
Ah, sorry, I see immigant was talking about Pete’s link.
I think United Future’s approach actually has some merit. Allow people to take superannuation at reduced rates from an earlier age, although I worry about the costs of that.
So what’s the demographics for Pacific Islanders? I assume they also have a lower life expectancy.
And does it work in reverse for those people who are lucky enough to have a higher life expectancy? Will the Asians in our country (who I assume would have a higher life expectancy) be told they can’t get Super until they’re 75?
I bloody hope not either KS. Maybe both these parties need to focus their attention on why Maori do die younger… Frying everything in sight and drowning it in cream sure in the hell doesn’t help.
There’s also problems with determining manual labourishness (I manually labour in the weekends) and Maori-ishness etc etc. Should someone with a terminal illness immediately qualify?
Picking short lifers is unworkable. That’s why providing a choice is a better approach, but it’s not without some difficulties either. It’s been criticised for discriminating against the poor.
A reprise (worth pondering) on the Budget and MSM attitudes, from Chriss Lee and Partners, May 28:
“Budget – Thanks to an invitation from the ANZ bank … I attended a post budget presentation by the Minister of Finance, Hon Bill English.
“English is a very good presenter, which made it all the more disappointing for me when shortly after leaving the presentation I experienced both radio and television media zero in on a light hearted moment for a misleading headline.
“When asked by the floor about protests and criticisms about the budget his response was that in his experience reactions had been fewer than ever before in his time as MOF and that perhaps students might learn something from the vigor of Greek student protests.
“This drew a laugh, as you would expect. That was the intention.
“The media however, presented this humour as evidence that the MOF viewed students as greedy and unworthy of more generosity from the government. It was absurd that this moment should reach the headlines or be twisted the way it was.
“If such behaviour had been witnessed of a financial adviser, the Financial Markets Authority would have been knocking on their door with allegations of ‘deceptive and misleading’ before the sun went down.
“Perhaps the media were frustrated by the lack of big headline grabbing changes in the budget.
“Anyway, I didn’t start this paragraph to waste 160 words on media performance.
“Contrary to the headline hunters I was impressed with the budget. It is more about adjusting the attitudes of the nation and making progressive structural change than throwing money round or trying to hit home runs to satisfy the electorate.
“There are no ‘short term fixes’, just leadership on necessary strategies for long-term improvement.
“John Key, and his cabinet, recognise that making significant changes over short time frames is hugely disruptive to a population and therefore to the economy. A government is much more likely to succeed with its goals if it takes us all with them via progressive change in the direction that they perceive to be best for the nation, overall.”
Hmnnn… Never agreed with chrissie wussie before. But perhaps we could add RM (red melons), GF (greenfax), Dk (mallard)
LH, P(w)H, MM and SC, to the list.
I would not object to FLIP, and I doubt there would screams of outrage from DPF.
Phil; I don’t swear often, but bugger off; your obsession with David Garrett has long since become tiresome, and you ruin this post day after day with your smears and hypocrisy. Do us all a favour, before DPF bans you for eight months.
So many Asian men are heavy smokers I doubt whether they will have a longer life expectancy. Chinese have a tendency towards stroke but with all the smoking they greatly increase their heart disease rates…Funny how so many heavy smokers are allowed to move here when Tariana is on her smoke free campaign , but then as Treasury so tactfully put it , many smokers never live long enough to incur national super..
I query all these figures because different things have been said over the years..Anyone know any facts?
Yeah, not too sure joana – so far as I know, stats in New Zealand are gathered for Maori and non-Maori, male and female, rich and poor. In other words, no other nationalities.
If you have a floating rate mortgage, try twisting your bank’s arm. Right now is a great time to haggle with them. A colleague at work made a couple of phone calls and got 1% shaved off his mortgage on the first phone call without really trying. He’s now phoning around other banks to see how good a deal he can get.
“..PHILLIP URE…former armed robber, long term beneficiary, and now by his own admission, the holder of at least two identities and the documents to establish them! ..”
(and..)..”..I know how utterly maddening the brain damaged runt is! It’s OK! We all feel your pain…we are all sufferers of “philophobia” (def: ‘a passionate dislike of parasitic leeches who presume to lecture others on their failings and past mistakes; a condition where one is unable to control a compulsion to try and show parastic leeches the errors of their ways or positons’ )..”
(and..)
“..Brain damaged or mentally ill ..”
so..y’know..you really are just blowing it out yr butt with yr ‘poor garrett’..eh..?
Phil… I’m no ones pet. And as I said before, at no time has your record been accessed by myself. I initially attempted to converse with you, I held no judgement. You however suggested that I’m a masochist wanting to re enact white settler, dusky maiden fantasies. Racist and sexist, much?
You continue to address me with a abuse, even when I don’t even post or address you…
Phil… Again, I invite you to make a difference to the lives of those you say you represent, you tirelessly work towards informing them towards a better life. Come to South Auckland.
Come and meet the single parents that are working their butts off to provide a better future for their kids, and tell them they are abandoning their children by working. Come tell the low income families that it isn’t ok for them to slog their guts out to send their children to private schools, that they are sell outs. Come call some 6 foot plus 120 kilo PI that eating meat is wrong and he should embark on a vegan diet…
Because you know what’s best for us, Phil. Seeing as you’ve been to uni and all. And we’re just dumb brown chil’ens that don’t know any better.
Speaking of not holding back, it seems the Polish Foreign Minister and Prime Minister have had a gutsful of the moron known as President Obama and are demanding something a little more meaningful than a rote apology from some administrative flunky – White House shrugs off Polish apology demands:
“I am convinced that our American friends can today allow themselves a stronger reaction than a simple expression of regret from the White House spokesman — a reaction more inclined to eliminate once and for all these kinds of errors,” Tusk told reporters in Warsaw.
“Today, this is a problem for the reputation of the United States,” the prime minister said.
No kidding. Foreign Minister Sikorski had preceded this statement with his own:
“The White House will apologize for this outrageous error,” Foreign Minister Radek Sikorski tweeted. Sikorski said that Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk “will make a statement in the morning. It’s a pity that this important ceremony was upstaged by ignorance and incompetence.”
Hardly a surprise though, given the degree of ignorance and incompetence that exists in the Obama administration.
The whole kerfuffle started when Obama gave a speech celebrating the awarding of the Presidential Medal of Freedom to a now-deceased Polish war hero who personally got word of the Nazi death camps to FDR during WWII, after witnessing what was happening first hand.
In his written, teleprompted speech, Obama referred to the “Polish Death Camp”. This was no off-the-cuff remark to reporters in a press conference. It’s incredibly bone-headed and stupid. So much for “Smart Diplomacy”.
We seem to have had a whole spate of left-wing leaders over the past few years who have been hailed by left-wing commentators are “brilliant”, “smart”, “informed”, “subtle”, yada, yada, yada. In Australia it was the Mandarin speaking genius that was Kevin 07, preceded by the nearly insane Mark Latham who was lauded in his day, followed by the working class barrister, Julia, who combined working class grit with high IQ and solid leftist credentials. In Britain it was Tony Blair in ’97, then Brown who were hailed as tough, smart hombres: at least in Blair’s case that proved true, but did not save him from condemnation when articulate smarts chose war in Iraq.
And of course in the US it was “the smartest President ever”; Obama, the guy who claimed that he was smarter on policy than his policy wonks, a better speechwriter than his speechwriters, and might even be a better Chief of Staff than the ones he hired (I see he’s now claiming that he knows more about Judaism than any other President). What an arrogant putz.
The scales seem to have fallen from lefty eyes on a lot of other issues about Obama, so has it yet happened with regard to his intelligence? Or are lefties still willing to claim – in the face of yet another incredibly stupid, offensive blurt from Obama, following on from several years of such – that he’s smarter than the villified moron, GW?
Whether lefty opinions about Obama’s intellectual capabilities (not to mention his “gifted” oratory) have changed I can bet that it won’t stop the next left-wing leader who emerges anywhere, from being hailed as the new genius. It seems to be a feature of left-wing ideology: no wonder every communist regime has developed a cult of personality.
It’s not super annuation as one does not contribute directly to it. So before you talk about who can draw it and when ,why don’t you get that straight first?
It’s a non contributary state (taxpayer funded) old age pension.
I don’t much like the politics of Radio NZ’s “National” Programme.
However, I was saddened this morning on its news to hear it joining the TV emotion vultures by broadcasting the grief stricken murmurings of the parents of the triplets killed in the Middle East fire.
If anyone needs a shield to grieve in privacy away from the ears and eyes of a morbid public, it is these parents. After sweet talk from a reporter, they might be persuaded to believe what they are doing in crying to the reporters is the right thing to do. But surely they are too vulnerable to make a reasoned, independent choice so soon after their family tragedy.
In my view what Radio NZ “National” did this morning, and what TV and the rest of the MSM are doing, is catering to the low human instinct that had crowds waiting to watch the guillotine executions in the French revolution. Many of the women waiting knitted between “chops”.
Radio “National” with its funds from the taxpayer, doesn’t need to descend to this.
Aw tom, mething you doth protest too much. The slip ‘Polish death camps’ really leads you to doubt the President’s intellectual capacity? Not just blinded by faux ideological hatred? Nearly as funny as calling Obama ‘left wing’. Why don’t you just denounce him as a ‘socialist’ as well and go completely over the edge?
Oh god, another candidate for RIP, and I see WeeklyWorldNews is as smart as ever: “midterm” elections are so-called because they are in the middle of the Presidential elections, of which 2012 is one.
Folks, I have decided to simply ignore philu today, and highly recommend others to do the same. Let’s see if he can get the message that petulant immature posturing is not particularly becoming in a 60-year-old man.
Mikey: Polish death camps is not actually a slip…some of the worst death camps – I think maybe even including Auchwitz? – were in then-occupied Poland. They certainly are “back” in Poland now.
Saw a short snip of footage of little kids showing their tattooed arms on the History channel last night…even after seeing the same clip 1000 times it is still horrific isnt it?
Someone give you 100 lines for encouraging the leech?
I agree with your approach, though. I wish others would do the same. I do not have much time to post but read GD regularly. The last weeek has been one big bore and waste of time. It is hard to believe the wasted space taken up by the resident abuser.
Steve (North Shore) posted about gen4energy last night on GD. I found it very interesting. One question, though (I know very little about nuclear energy in general, so bear with me) – what happens to the waste? That is what chiefly worries me about nuclear energy.
All I could see on the site is that after operating for ten years, the system is allowed to cool for one to four years, and then returned sealed to the assembly facility. So I assume there is still some form of nuclear waste to be disposed of?
Whereas you would not have reached the same conclusion had it been Bush who uttered something that dumb? And of course we actually do have a very comparable example from history, in the “slip” that President Ford made about the Poles in a 1976 debate with Jimmy Carter – and we all know how high the left-wing’s regard for Ford’s IQ was.
In any case I don’t judge the man on a mere “slip” from a free-wheeling press conference or interview; all politicians have such moments. But this was a prepared speech, added to other such events like as “corpseman”, referring to the Falkland Islands as the Maldives, and countless others.
Come on milky: imply once again that you’re balanced, fair and objective by telling me that you think Obama is as smart as a whip.
P.S. I love the he’s not a real left-winger/socialist nonsense that gets trotted out every time one of these lefty heroes is found to have feet of clay. As it went with Tony, Gordon, Kevny, and now Julia.
Jack5 at 1028 posted his disgust about the way RNZ broadcast “the grief stricken murmurings of the parents of the triplets killed in the Middle East fire”
Yes, we heard that too, and join Jack5 in condemning such lowest-common-denominator blatant appeal to the sensitivities of its listeners.
When we hear an interviewee reduced to tears we imagine the radio news staff and reporters in the studio high five-ing each other for having reduced the subject to on-air sobbing.
Unfortunately this broadcasting of the sobbing breakdown of some unfortunate or other who has suffered a mighty personal blow is becoming, or has become, all too common.
I’m reminded of the old saying that “Patriotism is the last refuge of the scoundrel”
Well in this case, broadcasting the tearful sobbing of a victim is the lowest level or ‘Last Refuge’ of public broadcasters lacking the professional ability to air more appropriate and sensitive coverage which protects the dignity and privacy of the victims whilst informing the listening public.
Its an easy cop-out for a lazy broadcaster who is apparently incapable of presenting news in a manner that doesn’t rely for impact on such gimmicky elements as tears.
If tom had provided actual evidence of Obama’s intellectual inability, rather than trot out some speaking errors, that might be the basis for a debate. Any evidence that Obama is a ‘left winger’ could also be entertaining. Or he could just stay with ‘Obama is a Democrat, so there must be something really wrong with him’. You must be quite tempted to join the birthers.
don’t get me started on that effete/over-used/simpering excuse for punctuation…
..it should be banned forthwith…
..if we talked like the number of commas overused by most in their writing..pausing for each of the cowering-imperatives..we would be talking like staccato machine guns…
“.. and stripped capital letters of their rights…”
..what ‘rights’..?..the capital letter is a class-riddled consolation prize for the peasants…
….it’s ok..you aren’t one of us..a sir or a lord…but you can call yrslf ‘mister’…(with a capital letter of course.)…there you go peasant..be happy with yr false honorific…
..and they had to be used at the beginning of sentences..because of the cost of paper…
..with internet white space a gloriously huge area to gambol in…that imperative has also now gone…
..and in fact..you will find that every capital letter…is utter bullshit…and not needed..
“..Jack5 at 1028 posted his disgust about the way RNZ broadcast “the grief stricken murmurings of the parents of the triplets killed in the Middle East fire”..”
i have found the television coverage of this tragedy to be some of the worst tragedy-voyuerism i have ever seen…
Jack5 and Akaroa: I agree. Journalists seem to feel it necessary to hound victims and their families at their lowest, most vulnerable points, and it is wrong. We can imagine their grief, we don’t need to see it in glorious colour and listen to it in high fidelity.
I wonder how often people ask to be left to grieve in private, and are simply ignored, all for the sake of ratings?
Due to the short life expectency of Maori men who die earlier than Euro men consideration should be given to establishing a fund that will allow Maori to access super earlier. I would set up a fund that Maori contribute to and call it Maorisaver and operate it along the lines of Kiwisaver.
The fund would be kick started by whanau ora and Maori will contribute and self fund this super initiative.
An MP was speaking. some chick. had no idea who she was or what party. she started OK. then became one of the most over expressive smug b*tches ive ever seen.
the sort of persona that would appeal if you were on her side. but if you were in the middle or the other side its just off putting.
it turned out to be some labour hack called Moana Mackey.
Bhudson, fact is they’re as bad as eachother, but each side’s respective supporters are only able to see the mote in their adversary’s eye rather than their own’s plank.
Partisan conditioning or human condition – take your pick. (or take the piss like I do)
Dime: well, if one was a cretin without the most basic knowledge of 20th Century history one might thing the POLES had set up death camps…mind you, when senior New Zealand students arent really sure which side NZ was on in WW II, and the best guesses are “the Americans?” then I guess you might be right…
“…when senior New Zealand students arent really sure which side NZ was on in WW II, and the best guesses are “the Americans?” then I guess you might be right…”
That mentality is not surprising -
The NZ Left always wanted a ‘war on religion’ but when it finally came time to fight it, they refused, knowing that they’ed have to fight on the side of NZ – and G W Bush.

More information on where all the Whanau Ora money is coming from would be appreciated? Is is being taken from health , education budgets..See my comment yesterday in the article re Winston questioning the 5 million spent last year on ”Family reunuions.” Separatism is the high road to nowhere.
However, I note many of the liberals so concerned about the right of homosexuals to adopt children do not have the same concern about the sexual abuse of a 14 year old girl by a number of adult males who CYF and the Family Court have protected.
It will be interesting in the near future to find out who the counsellor is as well as a well known TV presenter.
However, I note many of the liberals so concerned about the right of homosexuals to adopt children do not have the same concern about the sexual abuse of a 14 year old girl by a number of adult males who CYF and the Family Court have protected.
How do you “note” that Chuck? I don’t see any comments on that story, or any thread here on KB, where “many of the liberals so concerned about the right of homosexuals to adopt children” state that they are not concerned about that case. Are you keeping the evidence to yourself for some reason?
Here is my Open letter to John Key about his trip to Europe where he wants to get first hand knowledge about the financial situation. I argue he already knows and should keep our tax money where it belongs; here in New Zealand instead of gallivanting all over the place finding out shit he already knows .
I note many of the liberals so concerned about the right of homosexuals to adopt children do not have the same concern about the sexual abuse of a 14 year old girl by a number of adult males who CYF and the Family Court have protected
Nah Chuck, it’s just that some liberals can smell crap, unbalanced sensationalist reporting from a mile off.
I suspect the ‘CYF approved councellor’ and CYF themselves have a very different take on what actually happened.
That’s not to say the councellor didn’t fuck up (they should all be registered) but let’s wait for the whole story to come out eh?
Is not it a criminal offense to have sex with an underage girl?
would not this so called councilor be liable for aiding and abetting a criminal offense?
Why no referral to the police? why no arrest for statutory rape?
cyfs is one sick organization if this has occurred as reported
Caught a bit of “willie & JT” at lunch time. Apparently if 60k has been wasted in whanau ora then its just a “blight”. Course if it was anything to do with national or act they would be “rotten mongrels” and williw would get in something about “john keys mates”.
anyway,
they talk about how much work they do in south auckland and west auckland etc good for them. the programs sound quite good. my question though:
whanau ora is maori only?
do any other poor people have any programs like this? or is it race based charity and help?
Sounds like someone is just desperate to play the deligitimisation game – which is why the Obama campaign wet themselves with delight when Trump hosted some fundraiser for Romney the other day. By contrast, being associated with Al Sharpton or Corzine is apparently not something that Obama has to disavow. In short, the issue is not one of political correctness but the double standards applied, to whit:
If tom had provided actual evidence of Obama’s intellectual inability, rather than trot out some speaking errors, that might be the basis for a debate.
My point – which I’m absolutely sure you get, and hence want to avoid – is that “speaking errors” were absolutely taken as evidence of Bush’s intellectual capability. But somehow Barakus Pompus gets a pass even from left-wingers who claim to have no time for him. That’s my bone of contention. He gets a pass because even if he is a turncoat it’s still absolutely vital that he be seen as a smart, informed guy – because that’s how left-wingers see themselves, and the people they vote for. Anything less than smart might be seen as a reflection on their own intellectual capabilities – and we can’t have that can we?
Any evidence that Obama is a ‘left winger’ could also be entertaining.
Oh milky, you’ve been dancing around this forever on this blog. I can think of several ways in which it could be argued that Obama’s not a left-winger, but they all turn on the usual rat-swallowing that happens in politics. I’d much rather hear from you why he’s a nae a true Scotsman, as the saying goes.
Strangely, that’s a hard question to answer. http://www.tpk.govt.nz/en/in-focus/whanau-ora/ defines Whānau Ora as “an inclusive interagency approach to providing health and social services to build the capacity of ALL New Zealand families in need. It empowers whānau as a whole rather than focusing separately on individual family members and their problems.”
So on the one hand it talks about all NZ families … but on the other specifically talks about whānau. Since I have family, not whānau, I guess that lets me out.
But anyway, browse around a few places and you find statements such as “He Korowai Oranga (Māori Health Strategy) defines Whānau Ora as Māori families being supported to achieve their maximum health and wellbeing”. I’d say it’s a safe bet that you have to be Maori to access it.
“..The use of cannabis is associated with lower mortality risk in patients with schizophrenia and related psychotic disorders – according to a forthcoming study to be published in the Journal of Psychiatric Research. (Read the abstract of the study online here.)
An international team of investigators from the University of Maryland School of Medicine and Inje University in South Korea assessed the impact of a lifetime history substance use on mortality in 762 subjects with schizophrenia or related disorders.
Researchers reported, “[W]e observed a lower mortality risk-adjusted variable in cannabis-users compared to cannabis non-users – despite subjects having similar symptoms and anti-psychotic treatments.”
Authors speculated that the association between marijuana use and decreased mortality risk may be because “cannabis users may (be) higher functioning” -
- and because “cannabis itself may have some health benefits.”
They concluded: “To our knowledge, this is one of the first studies to examine the risk of mortality with cannabis and alcohol in people with PD (psychotic disorders).
This interesting finding of decreased mortality risk … in cannabis users – is a novel finding..”
Oh, tom, you are the master of the non-answer. So you were among those ridiculing Bush? If not, then I fail to see how you could play that game now. Unless you want to say Bush misstatements = intellect, Obama misstatements = ignorance.
You keep calling the Domcrats left wing and i’ll just keep pointing out that they’re well to the right of the National Party
@ dime continued: There are, of course, loads of initiatives for poor people, but yeah … Whānau Ora are race based. Along with:
- Te Mangai Paho (Maori Broadcasting, supporting 21 Māori radio stations and Māori TV)
- the Māori Potential Fund (which is about realising Māori Potential or Māori succeeding as Māori, in order to better position Māori to build and leverage off their collective resources, knowledge, skills and leadership capability to improve their overall quality of life)
- The Whānau Integration, Innovation and Engagement Fund (WIIE), which is available to help whānau move to greater self reliance and self management by strengthening whānau connections and engagements, developing whānau leadership, and building whānau knowledge, skills and capabilities to achieve their goals and aspirations
- The Māori Business Facilitation Service, which provides advice and guidance to new and existing Māori businesses. Available to those who are of Māori descent.
- The Māori Education Foundation, which awards scholarships to Maori
… and probably quite a few others.
Now, that as such doesn’t worry me. But I do get rather exasperated with those dicks that claim Maori are disadvantaged, without pointing out all the ways that they actually have quite a few advantages and headstarts because they are Maori.
Being unable to recognise irony, I was inclined to give tommy the benefit of the doubt when he raised Obama ‘Polish death camps’ line and linked it to an assessment of his intellect. No I’m just not sure whether tommy believes Obama is stupid and the quote was evidence of that, or he believes he is stupid, but doesn’t have any evidence. It’s interesting; a while ago he was calling Biden the dumbest VP ever, similarly without any evidence.
Maybe tommmy should just stick to “Democrats bad, nyah, nayh, nyah”.
graham – i hope you dont need whanau ora services!
i sit and listen to willie and jt speak about all they do for maori to help them. i wonder if they ever consider that they and their kind are half the problem?
constantly telling maori they arent good enough and the education system is failing them.
constantly telling them they have been ripped off and are owed something etc etc
maori in aussie seem to be doing so much better
is that because the good ones left?
or they just dont hear the bullshit, dont become obsessed with shit that happened two centuries ago and just work like normal people?
graham
I do get rather exasperated with those dicks that claim Maori are advantaged, without pointing out all the ways that they actually have quite a few disadvantages and sometime need headstarts because they are Maori.
Maybe tommmy should just stick to “Democrats bad, nyah, nayh, nyah”
Adding that to -… blinded by faux ideological hatred? – I suppose I should stop milky in his tracks by stating that I have always thought of Bill Clinton (Democrat) as a very, very smart guy. He must be curled up in the fetal position by now at the sight of all this, not to mention Hillary’s reaction.
Admittedly that line of argument will probably cut no ice with milky since Clinton is also considered a right-wing, sell-out so it could be said that I’m merely approving of another ideological soulmate.
But back on point: I’m using the same standards for Obama/Biden that were used for Bush and Quayle.
mike – without pointing out all the ways that they actually have quite a few disadvantages and sometime need headstarts because they are Maori.
examples?
can you give me maori specific examples? why its harder to be maori in trying/awful circumstances than it is to be tongan? samoan? indian? white? jewish?
Is all the money spent on the stone age culture actually doing any good are the statistics improving is there actually proof that the effort that has been put into Maori from the eighties making a change
doubt it some how why would those on the gravy train actually make a difference it would do them out of their cushy jobs
If it has made a difference I am sure that it would be held out as a reason for more funding
bet you
crime statistics as percentage of offenders has got worse
percentage on benefit has got worse
more Maori kids been beaten to death
more failing school system
Etc Etc Etc
go on apologists for colonialism prove me wrong please
“Chuck, I follow that programme as assiduously as I follow ‘(x country) Idol’ or ‘MasterChef (x country)’”
And liberals like you call me a bigot.
I just heard from a very good source who the well known TV presenter who also had sex with this girl.
If this becomes public which it may in the near future we may see an investigation into CYF, the Family Court, YouthLaw, Office of the Children’s Commissioner and a few other organisation which helped in a cover up of the sexual abuse of a 14 year old girl.
Many helping in the cover up were liberal who support the undermining of the family unit.
..what did the poms contribute..?..morris-dancing..?
That’s a joke, right?
Look out your window Phool. Can you see a city, with power and water reticulation and sewage services, roads that you have right of passage on, a stable system of laws and government, and myriad taxpayers all working hard to support your carefree dole bludging existence?
The English brought all that. Show a bit of respect, you worthless POS.
kowtow, I have no problem with giving Maori a helping hand if they need it. Just be nice to hear some of the whingers acknowledge the help they are given, rather than continually complain.
It would also be good to see something being done to ensure that the money being spent is having some positive impact. For example: There is a wide range of early childhood education services available in New Zealand, including kohanga reo which you would think would encourage Maori to enrol their children, right? Wrong. Participation rates for Maori children are lower than those for non-Maori.
(Note I’m looking at some old stats here, so if that’s changed please feel free to correct me.)
So why aren’t Maori using these services? Shouldn’t we look at whether we’re getting a ROI, and if not think about what needs to change? By all means keep these services going, but don’t just throw money in to a bottomless pit if it’s not working.
Yeah, sure tom, it really hurt to hear Dan Quayle or George Bush called stupid, so that make it a good idea to call names in return? I’m sure that nastiness only ever came from one party. If you do think some politicians are stupid, you might want to give examples, or people might think that you don’t actually believe it, but just want to indulge yourself in a bit of abuse.
Um, I understand that. I was just wondering whether you actually thought Obama was stupid, or just abusing him because other people had called Quayle and Bush names in the past.
“..When you set a positive roll (sic) model to you (sic) children as I do..”
so..a homophobe..and a racist…is ‘a good role model’..eh..?
right ho..!
(did you not see the earlier link i posted showing a church full of christians ecstatically cheering a small boy singing:..’no homos are going to heaven’..
..a sentiment you wd agree with…eh..?
..do you forget that you have preached homophobia and racism since forever..on this site..?
Chuck, I also mentioned the story on yesterday’s GD thread around about 5.30, but I’m not sure if anyone saw it..
It is bad, to be sure.
It’s all been happening the past few weeks: politicians giving their (private) blessing to gay marriage, a guy wanting to marry twins, and now a worker from a Govt organisation giving the OK to sex with a minor.
Chuck Bird- In the past few months he has accused me of Racism, Bigotry, Benefit Fraud, Beating my wife, Alcoholism, White Trash’ism, Being a Criminal, Being a Skinhead, Being a member of a Political Party, and even being a Politician (possibly the most horrendous allegation of them all…)
Don’t hold your breath for an apology mate- Just enjoy the fact that you are way, way higher up the food chain than this horrible parasite….
Anyone else notice that the resident leech, knowall got more and more strident throughout
the day as he was ignored, untill about 3.00 pm when he lost it and began screaming
for attention.
Chuck Bird saved him from having a breakdown.
Well done Chuck.
Question is, why would anyone solicit an opinion from, or ask a question of, a bludging loser knowall ?
I missed this from RRM: Sorry I’ve been away for a few days (We’ve just had a baby.)
Congratulations, I hope you at least agree with me on this, that having your own is as good an achievement as you can hope for – and it relegates the niggles here into relative irrelevance.
If posts start appearing in the middle of the night we’ll know what’s up.
Philu- I have only ever repeated what you have told us yourself about you and your son.
That you love smoking Pot, think it is the ‘wonder drug’ and that you and your son get together regularly and have a hearty old laugh at us “rightwingers”…(who incidentally pay for your drug-fuelled worthless existence)
Well – David Garrett @ 4.06pm said it all. I especially loved the “Ah fuck Chuck! Whaddya doing??”
I must confess, I’ve been annoyed by bereal’s daily complaining about the same thing, over and over, but not any more. Bereal – i’m a convert & to hell with tolerance.
Please People – don’t talk to it, don’t talk about it, don’t give it oxygen & it might go away!
Travellerev @ 12:27 – I have survived the ordeal of reading your Open Letter to John Key.
Whatever may be your day job, I suggest that you refrain from giving it up in favour of a career in political commentary.
Your attempts at humour were as weak as any that I have read on a blog in a very long time. (Only that sustained air of intellectual superiority was capable of raising a chuckle.)
I will follow the recomendations as well, even though I don’t like being told what to do. I did not think enough people would do the same and ignore the thing, but it looks like I was wrong.
Bit like a Union thing really.
DPF, you have a strike on your Blog!!!
I have not spent much time on this Gen4 reactor stuff. It seems that the final disposal at the refining plant is not clear. Quite understandable, the idea of every nutbar nuclear bomb wannabe maker having this information is suppressed for security I guess.
Any energy generation will have a waste product which will include the materials to implement the plant. The main thing is that this ‘toxic waste’ came from this planet. It came out of the ground, so it can go back into the ground just like ‘shit’ does
Anyone been following the education staffing debacle? Just listening to the latest installment on Checkpoint. I mean d’oh.
Parata is one of the Nats most capable female ministers. She’s ahead of Bennet and just below Collins. And what does Key do?
Gets all girly when the media starts picking up on the loose end as per the opposition’s neighing and opens the door to admitting the policy as announced in the budget is too harsh. Fucking der. The only reason you’d do that is if you wanted this policy to become the bone that distracts the idiot media who go away and gnaw at it because you know there’s a real stinker of a policy that the idiots haven’t noticed yet. But I know that’s not the case. The reason I know, not think, but know, is cause I know the Nats aren’t clever enough to do that. This is genuine.
I mean I’m a conservative so yay the Nats but FFS. Shaking my head over this idiocy, which was all so unnecessary in the first place.
They’re all mental, and I’m sick of it. Why can’t we get a decent govt.
I wish we could bring dead people back to life. Some of our dead politicians could really fix this place up. It’s quite obvious it’s beyond those living, today, now.
I once tried to read some of the crap posted by trivialrev and ended up flagging it. It wasn’t just the jaundiced, left leaning propaganda, bullshit and conspiracy theories that put me off, it was also the poor grammar / poor comprehension and generally poor form.
Given the choice (at gunpoint) of spending time with either Philu or Bereal at a ‘male only’ sweatlodge I think I might have to choose Phil (Don’t get any ideas Philu…smoke all the herb you want to suppress those urges!)
Bereal’s recent alleged cat-killing spree has some serious alarm bells ringing…

Ideal opportunity for an colonial apologist to get their “the fact’s”across.
And I do not have the band width so I was trying to get luc or MM to find links while I was working.
That’s right phil, she said it on a blog. Social media. Ergo, it must be true. Crikey.
BTW, how’s your sick fuckness going, or don’t you want us to talk about that, tonight? Just asking. Casually. (i.e. I don’t want a big drama about “how dare you, you …. etc etc etc) Just a simple “it’s fine thanks” is ok – I wasn’t really that interested anyway. Isn’t it funny. Sometimes with this blogging business you just don’t know if you’re typing or merely thinking to yourself, do you now…
??
Hydro is the best cheap green energy
No it’s not it’s getting all the green party members to furiously peddle to power generators for the rest of us, so we can be warm and cosy, while they peddle to keep warm and then eat some hay and other vegan crap. That’s the best cheap green energy.
But the big lesson for the day boys and girls!….Yes! If you annoy him, his activity is less! (someone who is more of a geek than me can anaylse yesterdays responses vs. todays)… good, innnit!!
sorry…Freudian slip…”annoy him” shoud have read “ignore him”…
Yes I assumed that was what you meant Dave. I assumed that was your equivalent of Einstein’s cosmological constant which he later proclaimed as the error of a lifetime. Good on you for picking up on YOUR error within a few minutes, he took a bit longer.
Still here? Well, they say that the real plebs just never get it…dragged up as we were, Mater taught us from an early age to detect when we had overstayed our welcome…
I was listening to Willie Jackson yesterday offering the line of the Tuhoe raid shouldn’t have happened but rather the local cops sent in to talk to Tama Iti. I don’t agree with the proportion or the style of the raid, I think it had a distinct ‘message’ to the local population that was one that contained an implicit menace. But after reading the sentencing judgement that F E Smith linked earlier in the week, if the local cops had ‘warned’ Tama Iti by asking him what was going on with the training camps – I’m sure the first thing he would have done was hide the firearms. Maybe the local police weren’t trusted, I don’t know. But any hint that there was surveillance surely would have resulted in hiding the firearms?
So who here thinks, as a fellow conservative, we should press the govt to pass a law requiring all Gween party members and possibly Gween potential and present voters as well, to install pedal-powered generators in their homes hooked up to the national grid?
The plus side is, it gives us lots of free warmth, for nothing. No more expensive gravity and water business.
The down side is, some people who aren’t at all like us in any way, might not be happy.
What is the blog wisdom on this critical issue?
Nostalgia, of course. Duh. This is what really fucks me off. All the lefties in the world are desperately searching for reasons the cops were unreasonable but the more they think about the facts, the less reason they find. And the fucking media, doesn’t change its propaganda line, notwithstanding.
Especially if these pedal powered generators can be made out of wood & recycled plastic bottles. On balance although I would prefer that they walked the talk & demonstrated their commitment to the environment by permanently disconnecting from the grid.
This, plus their unwillingness to send carbon up a chimney, should weed out all but the healthiest Gweens by the end of winter.
“He agreed to convict the pair and discharge them without further penalty as long as they made a donation of $200 to the city’s Maori Women’s Refuge over the next three weeks. ”

Just saying

Chuck you missed by a mile. Sex in public was not my point, the point was who decided where the donation was going? Was it the Judge, family member, the Police, the Council.
There seems to be some interference on money being paid in a certain direction.
I have to work tomorrow but maybe someone who has the time can join the dots as to who is connected with those involved
It’s just a storm in a teacup. Why, if the woman had been five years younger CYPF would have paid for a counsellor & everyone would have had their names suppressed.
I will follow the recomendations as well, even though I don’t like being told what to do.
Fair enough, and I am certainly not trying to preach to anybody. I simply decided to ignore philu today, to see if he can work out that at 60 years old he should really try acting like a mature adult. I will probably try to ignore him tomorrow, as I suspect he hasn’t got it yet. But it’s certainly not my place to tell anybody else what to do.
RRM – congratulations! Welcome to the joys of sleepless nights!
Ah yes Jimmy things were so much better then when the Raj ruled the jolly old British Empire!
I actually think the UK learned a great deal from their rule of India. It was both the platform which both made and broke the empire in many many fascinating ways.
I mean when they first went in, how the fuck do you even rule such a populous sub-continent? I mean you get 20-something sub-lieutenants in charge of 10,000 square miles of territory with no wireless comms and huge tribal insurrections with the signals dept consisting of nothing but jungle drums and horse relays. And out of all of that the Brits managed to pull together what we saw in all the colonies. Stable centralised decision-making, stable institutions establishing first, the rule of law and second, justice, stable consistent education, etc etc etc.
It’s absolutely amazing what the Brits of just 150-200 years ago achieved, given the attitudes of today’s generation who would probably collapse in 5 mins if the internet went down and they couldn’t post on Facebook or interact with “the cloud.”
It’s a bit of a worry, isn’t it.
P.s. I think the “right” smiley is a personal decision Johnboy. A bit like trousers. Does it feel right? If so, you just don’t even need to think about it ever again. If not then you can’t stop thinking about it and can’t wait to take them off.
Some have said my smile is better when my trousers are down Jimmy!
However, perhaps we should bring back the old post of District Officer, where a jolly old public schoolboy had the power of life and death over the fuzzie-wuzzies.
Would do wonders for law and order in say Cannons Creek or Hillary Court Naenae!
Graham
Its called strokes
Normal people get it from a positive experience, hug or kiss, inclusion, praise, presents ,etc
For some some people the only way to get strokes is from what most would call negative experiences. In many this is a learned response.
Others get their interaction by being bullies It bolsters their ago gives them power.
It is not hard to see the preferred method for this phenomenon in some people. …
A parliamentary report published today says that a lack of self esteem is damaging a generation of children who may struggle with school work and forming friendships.
All children could now attend body confidence and self esteem classes at school.
And now calling someone ‘fatty’ should be deemed a hate crime, these MPs say.
The Government should consider putting ‘appearance-based discrimination’ on a legal par with race and sexual discrimination, the report suggests.
I mean everyone knows, don’t they, that 5 year olds simply obsess about their appearance. Every single 5 year old I have ever known has done nothing but preen themselves in front of a mirror and fretted endlessly about how best to rid themselves quick smart of their “stupid” “baby” “fat.” This is just natural thinking for all we humans after all, so naturally the only thing to do is get with the program and get the law involved, with hate crimes. What else could possibli happen? Surely there is no other solution to this travesty? Of course there isn’t.
perhaps we should bring back the old post of District Officer, where a jolly old public schoolboy had the power of life and death over the fuzzie-wuzzies.
You mean this was abolished at some point Johnboy? The folly of man, eh. What the hell were we thinking, at some point in the past? Well, some of us, anyway. What hath we they wrought? Oh the humanity!
Of course public schoolboys should have power over the fuzzy wuzzies. How else are they ever going to learn responsibility and compassion?
Yes LJ I was going to include a whole smegging lot of palaver about how this is a written median and the only way to represent the nuance of communication.

Griff like everyone else on Earth, of course I understand the secret agenda for a global state: a world govt; world central bank; world army imposing the will of the world govt; world currency and a micro-chipped population linked to a global computer. I mean it’s quite obvious, isn’t it. How come others don’t see it as well?
What I don’t understand is, how come I have this overwhelming urge to grow a small toothbrush-like mou and shout maniacally into the mirror at imaginary crowds?
Hope you can help, before I do something silly. Thanks in advance.

Key suggests doing nothing.
David Shearer suggests manual labourers should get super sooner.
The Maori Party says Maori should get super sooner. They have a shorter life expectancy.
Using that logic, should women be eligible for Super later than men?
Or should we just cut the politics and work together on a solution? Cross party and cross blog perhaps.

Interesting!

He’s now phoning around other banks to see how good a deal he can get.

Speaking of not holding back, it seems the Polish Foreign Minister and Prime Minister have had a gutsful of the moron known as President Obama and are demanding something a little more meaningful than a rote apology from some administrative flunky – White House shrugs off Polish apology demands:
No kidding. Foreign Minister Sikorski had preceded this statement with his own:

Private grief as public theatre.

Oh milky, you’ve been dancing around this forever on this blog. I can think of several ways in which it could be argued that Obama’s not a left-winger, but they all turn on the usual rat-swallowing that happens in politics.

If this becomes public which it may in the near future we may see an investigation into CYF, the Family Court, YouthLaw, Office of the Children’s Commissioner and a few other organisation which helped in a cover up of the sexual abuse of a 14 year old girl.
Many helping in the cover up were liberal who support the undermining of the family unit.

kowtow, I have no problem with giving Maori a helping hand if they need it.

In a second year class, a little girl asks, “Teacher, can my Mummy get pregnant?”
“How old is your mother, dear?” asks the teacher.
“Forty.” she replies.
“Yes, dear, your mother could get pregnant.”
The little girl then asks, “Can my big sister get pregnant?”
“Well, dear, how old is your sister?”
The little girl answers, “Nineteen.”
“Oh yes, dear, your sister certainly could get pregnant.”
The little girl then asks, “Can I get pregnant?”
“How old are you, dear?”
The little girl answers, “I’m seven years old.”
“No, dear, you can’t get pregnant…”
Then, the little boy behind the little girl gives her a poke and says, “See, I told you we had nothing to worry about.”

Chuck you missed by a mile. Sex in public was not my point, the point was who decided where the donation was going? Was it the Judge, family member, the Police, the Council.

A work colleague was really excited because he’d just received a text from a woman he’d been dating.
“What does it say?” I asked.
My colleague said: “She said she loves anal….. … dyslexic bitch…. it turns out she loves Alan – my best mate!”

What a c**t.
Or does that spoil the whole anal joke thing?
Or does the mere fact it’s raised in the first place without it at all being a problem in anyone’s minds spoil everything anyway?
Being PC is really fucking complicated.

…EH…
And the effect on this blog resultantly.

Speaking of the UK, what has happened to the Empire Builders?
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2151939/Calling-fat-hate-crime.html
I mean everyone knows, don’t they, that 5 year olds simply obsess about their appearance. Every single 5 year old I have ever known has done nothing but preen themselves in front of a mirror and fretted endlessly about how best to rid themselves quick smart of their “stupid” “baby” “fat.” This is just natural thinking for all we humans after all, so naturally the only thing to do is get with the program and get the law involved, with hate crimes. What else could possibli happen? Surely there is no other solution to this travesty? Of course there isn’t.
