Political Polling Forum documents
May 11th, 2012 at 12:59 pm by David FarrarGreat to see so many people attend the inaugural Political Polling Forum on Wednesday, and especially the questions from audience members. There were a number of excellent contributions.
For those who couldn’t make it, but are interested in political polls, a number of documents have been put up on the MRSNZ website. Three which may be of special interest are:
- Rob Salmond’s presentation
- Murray Campbell’s presentation
- The ESOMAR code/guide on opinion polls
The ESOMAR code is 39 pages long (and an excellent resource). One of the challenges going forward is if we can come up with a NZ version which is concise enough to be of practical value to media as well as research companies.

I thought the most interesting thing from the forum was the pollster who admitted they broke the law by asking people who had advance voted whom they had voted for.
