A death sentence for a film
November 29th, 2012 at 11:00 am by David FarrarThe Herald reports:
An Egyptian court has convicted in absentia seven Egyptian Coptic Christians and a Florida-based American pastor, sentencing them to death on charges linked to an anti-Islam film that had sparked riots in parts of the Muslim world.
If you get death sentences for making crappy films, then someone should kill all the cast and crew of All The King’s Men! That is the 2006 version, not the 1949 version.

Except the film didn’t “spark riots”, it was used as an excuse for Sept 11 rioting and murder.

Peter Jackson would be fucked. King Kong and The Lovely Bones would be two of the most shambolic pieces of crap ever made…

The worst film I’ve ever seen was “Alexander.” Couldn’t even last until the end.

I’m with iMP on Alexander. Also, Tom Green deserves to be stoned to death for Freddie Got Fingered.

Certainly the biggest disappointment nod has to go to Prometheus.
How Ridly Scott could take a prequel for a fantastic movie (Alien, which he made) complete with big budget etc and completely cluster fuck it is beyond me.

The term “Egyptian court” is a joke and oxymoron.
The vile “religion of peace” would love to exterminate the rest of us who do not share its primitive and backward-looking view of the world.

Brokeback Mountain is apparently a pathetic movie. I nominate that!

Attack of the Clones was pretty dire.

It was an excuse in some places. In other places, I’m pretty sure there were protests against the film. That’s why the pretext worked for a while. It took the protests in some places and transplanted it to another.

I hope everyone who makes such threats to kill is placed on a travel ban from their Neanderthal habitats.

Anything with Steve Martin in it is usually a safe bet. In fact, he has invited jihad upon himself for the completely piss poor effort in reprising the Clouseau role.
Outside the movies: well, hard to go past the bad acting that is John Cambell. [serious deep voice font] “Ooh, look at me, I’m a Thunderbirds puppet”. Blurghh.
Vote:November 29th, 2012 at 11:38 am
Yes, but it was still an excuse. Just depends on who was using it – the Obama administration or those who organised the riots.

@iMP. absolutely. I stopped watching Alexander half way through. I’m not into torturing myself.
@Murray. Yup. the Libya incident on 11 Sept that resulted in the death of the American ambassador has since been confirmed as a pre-planned terrorist attack.

Oh, and my nomination is Southland Tales.

Hm, looking through that Wiki list I’d have to add Highlander II as a runner-up deserving only a light beating.

And this somehow proves that no-one anywhere in the World rioted against the film?

Yet Coptic Christians posing as Jews doesn’t rate a mention.

Exactly! The best thing about the movie sadly, was the title. How you could screw up a movie that was basically killing Surf-Nazis in inventive ways, is beyond me. This is the perfect B-movie plot. That takes a level of incompetence that frankly, astonishes me.

Independence Day took the cake for being the crappiest, most overhyped piece of trash I confess to paying my money and sitting through. All the cast and crew should be shot (barring Harry Connick Junior as his character was killed off early). I cried when I realised that my 10 dollars could be better spent elsewhere.

Have been entertaining the 8 year old recently with classic 1990s dumb blockbuster movies from my teenage years.
She found Independence Day boring but loved Jurassic Park and Small Soldiers.
We’ll probably leave Aliens & Starship Troopers until she’s a bit older…

Peter Jackson has made some crappy films, but I guess is constrained in what he can do now he is a genuine movie mogul. I’d like him to do something as good as Heavenly Creatures. I’d settle for a good Dambusters but even if it gets made I won’t hold my breath.

What about if the Labour get back in in 2014. PJ has been certified as an “enemy of the people” by the left hasn’t he. I expect he will be first up against the wall when the revolution comes, along with the Mad Butcher, etc.
