Sci Fi Channel?

March 9th, 2013 at 7:32 am by David Farrar

Chris Keall at NBR reports:

What I’m talking about is an actual William Shatner moment.

is bringing the Star Trek star to Auckland later this month.

I’m thinking the event must be the launch of the sci fi channel that unemployed Wellington man Pat Pilcher has pushed so hard for (and, earlier, Sky TV CEO John Fellet told NBR ONLINE a sci fi channel was number two on his list, after Soho).

If the speculation is correct, that would be great news. I will happily pay for the Sci Fi channel.

I would too. But I’d be happier if I could reduce my basic subscription price a bit by ditching channels I don’t ever watch.

I understand that it costs money to bring this programming but what better way to determine whether a channel is worth it than by allowing subscribers to choose between channels, as long as they have a minimum o say 10 or 15 on the basic subscrpition

a great idea but you would hope that a sci fi channel would have more than the three programs that soho has. I’d much prefer Mr Fellet to make Prime hi def permanently. they did it during the olympics so they can do it

I’ll ditch movies to watch this channel. I can always hire any movie I want to watch, to watch whenever I want to, before they appear on Sky. And if I really enjoy the movie, I’ll wait until they go ex rental, pick it up for $14.00 and it’s mine. JB hI FI haqve very cheap deals on DVD’s as well. Much more cost effective than Sky Movies, and a much bigger selection

Shatner? Is there a widescreen format large enough for him now that he’s left the main sequence? ;)

    Prepare to be disappointed,
given that the “Star trek franchise” programming is to be included in their new “classic” channel I would guess Shatner is here for this
