Watching TV1 News last night- That Katie Bradford character would have to be the absolute worst excuse for a reporter I have ever seen. She stammers and stutters through her reports and has terrible pronounciation, and while most reporters these days are pleasant in demeanor this lady literally scowls at the camera..
Any reason I am missing why TVNZ would persist with her?

Outstanding column from Rodney Hide this morning on climate change and the stranding of Prof Turney’s expedition; loved this bit:

The nuttiness is readily apparent. The expedition issued a statement that, “Sea ice is disappearing due to climate change, but here ice is building up.” Bad luck, really. The climate scientists were in the one bit of Antarctica where there’s ice.

Here’s something that has irked me for decades now:

Why does every drama show on TV have to have a ‘dumb white guy’?

Why if there is a stupid judge is he always white?
Why are the cops in shows one black and one white until their characters are corrupt; then they are both white?
Why are the good psych nurses black and the bad ones white?
Why is the cheating sports team always made up of white males who will eventually be humiliated by a majority ethnic team?

Why do black comedy families feature: The Cosby Show, The Jeffersons, The Fresh Prince etc… and white people are represented by the likes of: Rosanne, Mike and Molly… etc.

I could go on all day. Surely this is simply racism.

And the ship that went to Antartica with the media crew to show that the ice has gone (in summer), didnt get locked in ice, along with a second icebreaker. And the climate science team and media crew havent suddenly morphed into “tourists”.

And the left stream media arent doing their best to suppress the whole embarrassing story.

Maybe they should have just looked out the window instead of relying on their “model”. And maybe they need a new model.

    Good points.

Last night we were re re treated to The Green Line……though Hanks was of course the sympathetic figure the Hollyweird theme was the evil whites execute (innocent?)black who can save….

Mississippi on Prime ,presented by the black Sir Trevor MacDonald…..wasn’t really about the Mississippi but about black slavery……it even made the claim that Katrina was the US’s biggest natural disaster……wrong!

2012 ,a disaster movie had numerous blacks in important positions……

I checked the US census ,13 % of the population……..judging by the number and prominence given to this minority in the American and other international media you’d think it was closer to 50%…….

I believe the same processes apply here in Aotearoa ,formerly New Zealand.

The worrying thing is not the portrayal of one colour skin as better than another but that people watch this crap at all.

As an aside I have noticed the increase of black skins on my television – fully half of the cast of one NZ based “reality show” I watched yesterday were black and, switching again to another channel, there was, later in the day, a black fellow running around at backward point.

Later still the whole cast of another “show” had brown skins.

    Concerning indeed. ;-)

Have you noticed something similar around the world including New Zealand when it comes to sex.

A number decades ago the was a show called, “Father knows best”. It was a sitcom about family dynamics. The end of the show always ended with the father looking good without his wife being put. This is a marked difference with the current lot of family sitcoms where the father is made to look like an incompetent fool.

We see here in NZ the ad about not supplying alcohol to minors where the father is made to look like a complete dork.

This does not sound like rape to me. If some woman agrees to have sex with someone who says in a text he is 20 and agrees to wear a blindfold and does this. The “victim” found the sexual encounter exciting and agreed to a second meeting. Whether she got conned into believing the her sex partner was a 20 year old or was into kinky sex with her ex it does not sound like rape to me. What do others besides Judith think?

An embarassing 5-0 ashes whitewash by Australia. As much as I don’t like seeing Australia thrashing the opposition but England deserved the whitewash as their performances were pathetic. Yes Aussie played well but the jury is still out on them because this series was more about how badly England played IMO, It was only about 3 months ago that Australia had lost 3-0 in England and 4-0 in India and were being labelled the weakest Australian team in a long time. The series against SA should be a true test of how far they have come as this time last year and in 2012 they whitewashed Sri Lanka and India at home before being thumped on their subsequent overseas tours.
