Parliament this week has been a disgrace. Our supposed House of Representatives has been more of a melee of mongrel misfits in a house of reprehensible behaviour.

If the sort of behaviour we frequently witness in Parliament and in the political arena was practised in councils, boardrooms, committees, bars and school playgrounds they would be seen as dysfunctional and it would be condemned.

It’s bullying, dirty destructive behaviour that wouldn’t be acceptable in most parts of our society. New Zealand’s leaders should be setting a good example but they are doing the opposite.

    It’s a Parliamentary disgrace.

LOL ya can’t say that Kim !!! :)

SUPREME LEADER: Kim Jong Un’s government has ferociously and personally attacked Barack Obama.

In a recently published and lengthy racist screed, North Korea calls President Barack Obama a “clown”, a “dirty fellow” and somebody who “does not even have the basic appearances of a human being”.

“He is a crossbreed with unclear blood,” the North says.

And later: Obama “still has the figure of monkey while the human race has evolved through millions of years”.

“It would be perfect for Obama to live with a group of monkeys in the world’s largest African natural zoo and lick the bread crumbs thrown by spectators.”

Come on guys, this Newstalkzb branch of the Labour Party is again this morning, over the top. The mouth at the mike even had a laugh in her presentation as she read pro-left diatribe. The finale was when they interviewed the most disgusting politician to ever shadow the walls of Parliament, Mallard. This is the mongrel that created a problem for Brash regarding an affair, while at the time, conducting his own with someone young enough to be his granddaughter!

    Winston First
The new constitution states that any new member who agrees to become a New Zealand First candidate will have to sign what’s intended to be a legally enforceable contract.
That stipulates that if they resign from, or are expelled from, the New Zealand First parliamentary caucus, they must quit their seat in Parliament within three days. If that contract is broken, the new rules say the member would be liable for $300,000 in damages.

So Winston excommunicated Brendan Horan, who became an Independent Member and was later found to have NOT fiddled his mother’s estate afterall.
And Winston would get $300,000 ?

minus – there is yet another reason why the $300,000 penalty is unenforceable – the courts will not enforce contractual penalties. It would need to be somehow dressed up as ‘liquidated damages’ but then what ‘damages’ could be legally claimed.

List of little legal liabilities –

    • Was Cunliffe’s six month secret loan for Labour’s so-called American-style leadership “primary” legal, or must Cunliffe still declare it.

    • Was in fact Labour’s so-called American-style leadership “primary” itself legal –
three “candidates” running around the country spouting spontaneous bribes, devoid of real Labour policy proposed and agreed at conferences, and not having any commonality in presentation to reveal actual leadership qualities between contenders. Was Parliament getting anything of worth for three weeks salaries while Labour undertook this internal party matter outside Standing Orders?

    • Is it legal for Dotcom to pay his proposed candidates salaries before they enter Parliament, indebting them to an influence outside Parliament, and appearing to offend under Section 217 Treating?

    • And similarly, is Winston First able to place the $300,000 fine as they have in the New Zealand First Constitution, so it hangs over the heads of NZF Members elected to Parliament, influencing their voting and actions, when such a blackmailing yoke or financial Damocles Sword over any Member of Parliament would seem totally unacceptable and illegal?

Several thousand native trees knocked down in a storm and worth up to $50K each if milled and more if used in furniture industry. This would provide a large amount of work for coasters to remove them, Labour has been complaining about lack of timber for local mills and of course Rimu and Beech are more likely to be used locally for furniture than exported for framing.

What do the Greens propose? Yes that’s right the trees should be all left to rot!

It’s often been claimed that Iran has turned a corner with the election of the moderate President Rouhani. I always thought that was liberal wishful thinking. Here is what “moderate” means in the Muslim world –

“Reza, another former Muslim-turned-Christian, says he shares his faith because he wants Iranians to live in the light.
While President Hassan Rouhani promises societal reforms, Reza said an aggressive government crackdown against Christians continues.”Iranian agents come and arrest us saying that we are spies for Western countries. They say because of that, you are a traitor to your country and should be executed,” he explained.
In fact, few of the 40 or so known Christians imprisoned in Iran have been charged as apostates or for spreading the Gospel. The official charge is usually espionage or undermining national security.
That’s the charge against Iranian-American Pastor Saeed Abedini, still serving an eight-year prison sentence.”

The reality is that Islam brooks no interference and as soon as the Moslems become strong enough they will invoke Sharia law and that is the end of any discussion about human rights. For this reason I am still of the view, extreme though it might sound, that we should end all Muslim immigration to this country.

Exactly. Who is going to stop, if you will, casting the first stone? The reality is that for a Minister of Justice not telling the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, a series of events happened. The consequent behaviour around the Collins’ situation highlight errant behaviour of politicians but will only be remembered as simply mere political detritus. However there is one indelible stain from that latest storm. When a Minister of Justice cannot be trusted to be honest and that is accepted and even defended by the general public, how far have we sunk?

What is it, are the opinions of the Haredi credible or not? By their actions the Haredi are the intolerant extremists – not the Zionists in Israel or most Jews worldwide. So intolerant, they attack all other Jews as apostates and immoral. Thus of course they attack the state of Israel Zionism, for their own Zionism is a Jewish nation in their own image without tolerance for any diversity whatsoever.

Sharia means the way, and the original meaning is the same as for the first century disciples who were called the people of the way. Today what is called Sharia law is a collection of interpretations which have been corrupted by a secular and factional ideology.

Human rights are a product of Rome, and are presented as a substitute for natural rights. The conflict between these two systems is especially relevant in New Zealand because natural rights are part of the law of the land, but civil government is philosophically aligned with Rome and the UN.

PG @ 8.01. The relatively-brief post above is a generalised point of view with which most of us would agree, without getting too excited about it. However, the opinion piece to which it is linked on your own blog goes a lot further.

Leaving aside its impressively-colourful language, why is it that you spend a third of that lengthy item on a cut-and-paste verbatim record of a minor (in relative terms) skirmish involving the PM, the Speaker and the Leader of the House, yet choose not to deal similarly with far more questionable incidents involving the likes of Trevor Mallard and his party’s leaders? That seems to be a rather selective pointing of the accusing finger, despite your calling on leaders of both parties to take action on the behaviour of their respective caucuses.

The exchange involving Key was often amusing (as you will see yourself if you view the clip), albeit to the embarrassment of members across the house who were initiating the specific questions. Key’s testing comments lacked the penetrating, personalised acrimony that we are seeing in the House at times. You would have a much stronger point if you focused your attention on the latter type of behaviour rather than directing your criticism so tellingly in the direction of the Prime Minister and Leader of the House Brownlee.

Britain is looking at giving women soldiers full combat roles, which they have in NZ. In a democracy, the only potential problem is public pressure for caving in if they are taken prisoner by some bunch of ragtags.

The British women will always likely be a minority in some of the tougher units, however. Among the pioneers are five women who have been admitted to the extremely punishing trial for the Royal Marine commandos. If the women get through this, there will be no need to worry about these toughies being sexually harassed. Have any women got through NZ’s SAS selection tests?

There have always been women soldiers (think of Boadicea). They were notable in the Red Army, providing hundreds of snipers for example, a role at which women proved notably adept. The Soviets even had all-women air units, including the “night witches”, who flew almost suicidal night raids in ancient biplanes, gliding in low over German lines and throwing bombs from cockpits.

That’s overstating the verbal brawling, Pete. There was nothing like the physical punch-ups that occur in many Parliaments around the world. This week the House was a little too boisterous, that’s all. Some blame must lie with the present Speaker, who isn’t terribly quick at reacting, and is certainly not the firmest Speaker we’ve had. (IMHO, he could start a tougher regime himself by replacing the fluffy feather horse’s collar thing he wears. If he needs any distinctive garb, better would be some sort of gown such as the previous Speaker wore.)

Better the occasional theatrical histrionics of a puffball like Duckman Mallard, than the House become more boring than it already is most of the time.

The other day a commentator submitted a link to The Princeton Tory where a Princeton student had submitted an article called Checking My Privilege.

The article is by a guy called Tal Fortgang and it got stuck into the US campus scene of identifying people like him as being those who have “privilege” and being told to “check” it by Left-wing enforcers of public ethics and morality.

Another commentator, the ever-reliable mikenmild wanted to know how widespread ‘check your privilege’ is – the subtext being that this is just another hobgoblin invented by RWNJ’s.

Now while I can’t be bothered to fully comply with the usual “show-one-million-links-or-it’s-bullshit” implication I thought the following couple of articles would suffice – in addition to the dozens of angry responses to Fortgang in the original link that explain just what “check your privilege” is and why it’s so important on US campuses. I’d like to say the comments are funny but I found them horrendously depressing. Aside from this the first article is The Banality of ‘Privilege’:

For those who may be blessedly unaware, “check your privilege” is a common command issued to those who check such demographic boxes as white, male, middle-class, in possession of physical genitals matching one’s metaphysical self-conception, etc. In the 1980s, nonconformists were advised by the liberal thought police that their ideas were “politically incorrect,” a phrase that became infamous. Today they are told “check your privilege,” but the two phrases translate into standard English identically: “Shut up.”

I’ve highlighted the first sentence for those in need, but if a National Review is not to taste there is this from one of the Fortgang’s commentators:

Today I’m feeling 101-y, I guess, so let’s talk about privilege.

It’s a weird word, isn’t it? A common one in my circles, it’s one of the most basic, everyday concepts in social activism, we have lots of unhelpful snarky little phrases we like to use like “check your privilege” and a lot of our dialog conventions are built around a mutual agreement (or at least a mutual attempt at agreement) on who has privilege when and how to compensate for that. But nonetheless fairly weird, opaque even if you’ve never used it before or aren’t part of those circles. It’s also, the way we use it, very much a cultural marker – like “Tolkienesque” or “Hall-of-famer” or “heteronormative,” you can feel fairly assured that a large number of people will immediately stop listening and stop taking you seriously the moment you use it.

So it would appear that – in the proper circles (meaning the contemporary campus Left and beyond) – that this is quite widespread. I only wish the last sentence was true. Clearly enough of the targets of this phrase are taking it seriously enough that they’re getting pissed off with it.

That’s why I talked about “degrees”. It obviously depends on how we define “democracy”, but I think a strong case could be made that any state whose constitution (or equivalent) is not blind to race, creed and sex is actually not a democracy.

At the very least, those racially, religiously or sexually specific constitutional elements are contrary to the ideals of democracy as we mean it today. When we talk about how we would like to see democratic revolutions in non-democratic countries, we don’t generally mean “it would be great if Saudi Arabia became a democracy where only Arabic males get the vote”. We mean that we would like to see a world in which human beings are treated equally, regardless of their race, creed, hair colour, sex, whatever.

A democracy where only Arabic males get the vote might be considered an improvement on a monarchy, but I don’t think proponents of democracy would be satisfied that the revolution was complete.

Kea, do you really ignorantly conflate ancestry and bloodline with race?

    Blood Purity and Nazi Germany

Blood purity was very important to the leaders of Nazi Germany. According to Hitler, blood purity would ensure the survival of the Aryan race and the ‘1000 Year Reich’. Laws were introduced to ensure blood purity within Nazi Germany and anyone who acted outside of these laws was deemed to have committed the crime of ‘rassenschande’, which translates roughly as ‘racial pollution’ or ‘racial crime’.

“Blood mixture and the resultant drop in the racial level is the sole cause of the dying out of old cultures; for men do not perish as a result of lost wars, but by the loss of that force of resistance which is contained only in pure blood.

Described are the undue influence AIPAC exerts in the Senate and the House and the pressure AIPAC brings to bear on university professors and journalists who seem too sympathetic to Arab and Islamic states and too critical of Israel and its policies.

    Israel versus Judaism

This website was created to expose the violence and oppression perpetrated by the Zionists and their State of “Israel” against the Jewish people who remain true to the Almighty, Judaism and the Torah.

Judaism does not condone violence. Judaism demands that Jews be good citizens of the countries in which they reside and that they live peacefully with respect for and subservience to the ruling powers.

Judaism teaches us, that the right for the Jewish people to have self rule in the Holy Land is not unconditional. Since the destruction of our Holy Temple over two thousand years ago, the Jewish people have been exiled from this land by Divine decree. The Talmud tells us that G-d obligated us not to rebel against the ruling bodies, and not to take the land of Israel by force (see Babylonian Talmud tractate Kesubos 111A).

It’s not the only holocaust there’s been in Europe or in the world. In many places, particularly in Africa , holocausts continue. And every holocaust is a major tragedy because every human life is valuable.

So on the strength of the goodwill that many people felt towards people who were Jewish – Israel was enabled to get away with murder in Palestine . We will not be silent and allow our suffering as Jewish people to be used to excuse or justify or enable the suffering and genocide of other people. Why the Left Hates Israel

“It is also clearer why Israel stands out like a polished, precious stone amidst the underdeveloped rubble of the Middle East. Detractors will say that American money is the sole reason for that success, but there are sufficient other examples of such money going down black holes of despair and leaving the recipient domain an unaltered lump of coal.

What it did not do was address another old question which now shouts for an answer even more loudly. Why is it that when the wolf is approaching Israel’s door, otherwise sane people the world over react negatively to attempts to protect that entrance? When self-defense pits Israel’s few million against most of the Middle East, its reaction is considered disproportional. The landing of missiles on their sovereign soil is considered by outsiders to be a tolerable nuisance. Self-defense measures like the erection of a barrier wall and the populating of otherwise barren buffer areas, is considered a jack-booted occupation of their neighbours. I believe that unilateral pacifism invites being gored. From what we have seen of the actions, motivations, and aspirations of radicals worldwide, they may as well live in another dimension. The west will never be seen as brothers in peace by large parts of the world, because what we are is too alien to them, as they are to us, and they make the simplistic conclusion that we must be part of their considerable problems. To make things worse, Israel is but a small drop of an alien west placed in the heart of the east. Educators ignore these realities because they have long since surrendered their principles and embraced pretzel logic in order to exclude noise and conflict from their comfortable, cloistered world. It takes guts to defend Israel when such a large part of the world’s population is dedicated to its extermination. The students are merely the children of this intellectual collapse, unable to discriminate on their own, between BS and reality.”

“Effort is expended, much of it successful, in discrediting the human rights record of Israel in its treatment of the Palestinians in the administered territories. In the climate of violence created by the intifada, during which hundreds of Palestinians have been killed by their fellow Arabs, the occasional act of violence by individual Israelis is perhaps to be expected. Every such violation is contrary to explicit laws and standing military orders and is investigated, prosecuted and punished. Certainly, human rights violations against Palestinians are totally contrary to Israeli laws and Israeli policy. Compare that with the human rights violation and the ruthlessness of the Arab states against the Palestinians living in their midst. With the sole exception of Jordan, not a single Arab state has granted citizenship to its Palestinians. Egypt, which administered the Gaza strip for 19 years, never did grant its inhabitants Egyptian citizenship. In fact, Gazans could not attend Egyptian universities and could travel to Egypt itself only in the most exceptional and pressing circumstances. In 1970, during the so-called “Black September” uprising, Jordan killed 3,400 Palestinians in just ten days. In 1976, the Syrian army killed over 23,000 Palestinians. In the three year war of the camps, the death toll of Palestinians reached 3,000. At least that number of Palestinians is reliably reported to languish in Syrian prisons.”

An Orthodox Jewish community has had to face up to claims of child sex abuse after 83 men and two women were arrested.

An initiative was set up to encourage victims to come forward despite pressure from the close-knit religious society to hush up the crimes.
Some 117 male and female victims have approached authorities in Brooklyn, New York since 2006. There were 89 accusers under the age of 17.

Goodman reportedly filmed sex acts with the boys on a webcam after plying them with alcohol in his bedroom and making them watch child porn.

Lubricants, empty liquor bottles, boys’ clothing and a butcher knife were discovered in the 27-year-old’s room.

CANTERBURY, England (RNS) Richard Dawkins, one of the world’s best-known and outspoken atheists, has provoked outrage among child protection agencies and experts after suggesting that recent child abuse scandals have been overblown.

In an interview in The Times magazine on Saturday (Sept. 7), Dawkins, 72, he said he was unable to condemn what he called “the mild pedophilia” he experienced at an English school when he was a child in the 1950s.

Referring to his early days at a boarding school in Salisbury, he recalled how one of the (unnamed) masters “pulled me on his knee and put his hand inside my shorts.”

He said other children in his school peer group had been molested by the same teacher but concluded: “I don’t think he did any of us lasting harm.”

Peter Watt, director of child protection at the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, called Dawkins’ remarks “a terrible slight” on those who have been abused and suffered the effects for decades.

“Mr. Dawkins seems to think that because a crime was committed a long time ago we should judge it in a different way,” Watt said. “But we know that the victims of sexual abuse suffer the same effects whether it was 50 years ago or yesterday.”

Peter Saunders, founder of the National Association for People Abused in Childhood and himself a victim of abuse, told The Times that Dawkins’ comments were worrying and unhelpful, adding: “Abuse in all its forms has always been wrong. Evil is evil and we have to challenge it whenever and wherever it occurs.”

Still not willing to condemn your fellow atheist Kea?

    Talk about minimising child abuse!

“Imagine a senior Catholic official – a British archbishop, say, or a cardinal in Rome – spoke to the Times about his childhood church. Imagine he described a village priest who ‘pulled me on to his knee and put his hand inside my shorts’, claiming this priest molested other boys regularly. Imagine that, while calling this ‘extremely disagreeable’, the Catholic official then said ‘I don’t think he did any of us any lasting damage.’ Imagine he stressed this happened in the 1940s, arguing ‘you can’t condemn people of an earlier era by the standards of ours’, cautioned ‘we must beware of lumping all paedophiles into the same bracket’, and suggested according to the newspaper ‘that recent child sex abuse scandals have been overblown’.
How would atheists online react? Not well, I’m sure.

The Catholic official could count, in John Berryman’s words, on being nearly crucified. Twitter’s atheists would pour vitriol on him; blogging atheists would spell out, painstakingly and once again, why That was another time! is a terrible argument, as terrible here as when used to justify biblical atrocities, and some forms of molestation being worse than others (or some victims’ lack of major trauma) no reason to deny its categorical abusiveness and unacceptability; the forums at RDFRS would, collectively, hold a feeding frenzy.”

Except it wasn’t a Catholic who said this. It was Richard Dawkins.”

Regrettably, as Shawn pointed, out child abuse is all too common amongst all ethnic groups. However for it to occur a few factors have to line up & one of these is the abuser needs a position of power over the unfortunate kid(s).

The vileness of organised religion provides this & more. The abusers prey is conditioned by their gullible parents to respect church authority unquestioningly & they carry a blind belief in their religious leaders which ensures that the child’s protestations will be ignored or punished.

Yes….leaders of youth groups & teachers have been exposed as abusers but there are few so evil as those who shelter behind the failings of parents who cannot live without their pathetic dependence on Skyfairies.

Harry Hay (1912 – 2002) was a liberal atheist advocate of statutory rape and the widely acknowledged founder and progenitor of the activist homosexual agenda in the United States.[2][3][4] Hay joined the Communist Party of the United States (CPUSA) in 1934. [5] He was a vociferous advocate of man/boy love. [6][7] In 1986, Hay marched in a gay parade wearing a shirt emblazoned with the words “NAMBLA walks with me.”[8]

    3. The writer Samuel R. Delaney is an atheist and a homosexual.[9][10] Delaney said he was a supporter of NAMBLA.[11]

he Australian Conservative recently published an article by Ben-Peter Terpstra entitled Preparing for Richard Dawkins’ crocodile tears which charges that Richard Dawkins exhibits selective outrage on the issue of child molestation.[21] In the article Terpstra cites Bendan Oneill who wrote:

“ The New Atheist campaign to have Pope Benedict XVI arrested when he visits Britain later this year exposes the deeply disturbing, authoritarian and even Inquisitorial side to today’s campaigning secularism…
In 2006, Dawkins criticised ‘hysteria about paedophilia’ and said that, even though he was the victim of sexual abuse at boarding school, he would defend his abusive former teachers if ‘50 years on they had been hounded by vigilantes or lawyers as no better than child murderers’. Yet now he wants to put abusive priests on a par with genocidaires.[22]

Ben-Peter Terpstra writes: “In all truth, Britain’s clean-shaven atheists aren’t serious about children’s rights, or they’d be launching venomous attacks against the United Nations, in light of their more recent sex abuse scandals.”[23]
Concerning Richard Dawkins recent selective outrage on child molestation the Christian apologetics website True Free Thinker writes:

“ His reputation has always been the very same and this Pope related publicity stunt is nothing new. Moreover, why would he oppose the Pope considering that what the Pope may be complicit in, surely, relates to some gentle pedophiles.

    What! “Gentle pedophiles”!!!

Oh, no, no, no; those are not my words but Richard Dawkins who, indeed, argues that there are gentle pedophiles and that way too much is made of pedophilia at times.

For these reasons and more Robert Fulford’s referring to Richard Dawkins as a clown is very, very offensive—to clowns. Clowns are lovable and funny whilst Richard Dawkins is belligerent, arrogant, belittling and shockingly lacking in knowledge with regards to many of the issues that he takes on (find ample evidence here).[24]

    Atheist Sex Offenders Are Dangerous.

A self-described militant atheist with a criminal past faces multiple charges after an attack on a pastor who, after his sermon, had asked the man’s girlfriend if she felt safe.

James Maxie, 28, of Springfield, Ohio, is charged with second-degree felonious assault and misdemeanor resisting arrest after an incident Sunday at The Bridge Community Church in North Hampton.

Police Chief Jarrod Campbell said in his 11 years with the department, he’s rarely dealt with “an incident this brutal.”
The Rev. Norman Hayes, 57, said he feared for his life and begged for the attack to stop. Hayes suffered a broken nose, bruises and three long cuts that required stitches across his face. . . .

Maxie and the girlfriend, who attends the church, approached Hayes after the service. She told police that Hayes asked her if Maxie was abusing her, and Maxie became furious, striking pastor several times in the face in the church hallway.

“He came from nowhere and hit me … and knocked me down, and then he got on top of me and just kept hitting me over and over,” Hayes said. . . .

The brutality of the beating in addition to the location are why police charged Maxie with a felony, Campbell said.
“Churches are somewhere where people go to worship their particular religion, and violence is usually the last thing you see,” he said.

Campbell is working with the Clark County Prosecutor’s Office to see if additional charges should be filed.
Maxie served two years in prison after being convicted of felonious assault. He’s also a convicted sex offender, charged with unlawful sexual conduct with a minor in Clark County, and was sentenced to five years of probation, beginning in October 2008, according to the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction. In 2004, Maxie was charged with four counts of cruelty to animals in Springfield.

A self-described militant atheist, according to his Facebook page, a day before the assault Maxie shared a photo from another page titled, “I’m proud to be Atheist.”

The financial crisis … did more than wipe out billions in wealth and millions of jobs. It also sent birth rates tumbling around the world as couples found themselves too short of money or too fearful about their finances to have children. Six years later, birth rates haven’t bounced back. For those who fear an overcrowded planet, this is good news. For the economy, not so good.

    and
It pays to be rude (for retailers)
Ever wondered why some retail staff, and generally in the pricier stores, are rude to their customers?

It hardly makes sense in what we term the service industry. Except that new research suggests rudeness skews buyer behaviour towards splashing out on more expensive items.

So what they lose on the swings, they more than recover on the roundabouts.

Consumer complaints recently have pressured some luxury retailers to train their staffs to be more approachable; Louis Vuitton even went as far as decorating the entrance of its Beverly Hills store with a smiling cartoon apple in 2007. But if luxury retailers want to continue to rake in the dough, they actually should do the exact opposite, [a] study found. The ruder the salesperson the better.

Ahhh. Nothing more liberating than telling a customer who is being an arseole to piss off and not come back. Like phone salespeople who become a pest. Clocked one off yesterday.

Ditto for the slime that follow you unctuously round the shop asking if you need any help every two or three minutes. The local Mitre 10 Mega & Bunnings in Palmerston North would take the biscuit in that respect.

However no tale of retail woe would be complete without my favourite hobby horse…..this involves the idiot women who after having half a ute load of instant sugary garbage scanned & bagged stop chattering like stoned starlings & start rummaging through their purses trying to find credit & loyalty cards.

What happened last time they shopped? Did the supermarket announce its regular “everything is free day”? Oh, right.

I think “the Jews killed Jesus” is a bit of an uninformative and loaded assertion. I mean, Jesus was Jewish. He was, as the story is told, executed by Roman authorities who were being pressured by his countrymen, who were obviously also Jewish. Who else was going to kill him? That’s where he lived.

You could just as well say, “The Jews committed almost every murder in Judea and Israel for centuries.”

It would appear Jesus in fact committed suicide or Romancide, having aggravated his relationship with Temple authorities and other groups many times, but more particularly disrupting the trade of sacrificial animals, then commanding Judas to go do what he had to do to fall into the hands of the Temple guards, pass temple trials on to Pilate, having also offended Roman use of the Temple, and so was condemned to be crucified as a pretender to the throne, and finally fatally wounded by a Roman soldier.

The Toledot Jeshu (Book of the Life of Jesus), is a devastating Hebrew book to belittle the person of Jesus by ascribing to Him illegitimate birth, magic, witchcraft, and a shameful death. The main point of the Toledot is that Jesus is a deceiver and a heretic who was crucified by the Jews and his disciples stole his body and deceived others by proclaiming his resurrection. All the Toledot Jeshu editions declared Jesus Christ to be a bastard.

Virgin Mary is portrayed in the Toledot as a woman who conceived Jesus as a result of rape by a Roman soldier, Joseph Pandera.

“Jeshu” means “may his name be blotted out!”: Most Jewish sources avoid the Greek name “Jesus”, meaning “savior”, and in Hebrew abbreviate Jeschua to Jeshu: “Jeschua” means “Savior”, “Jeshu” means “may his name be blotted out!”

…….Three of the Fathers, St. Justin, Eusebius, and St. Jerome, indicate the content of the letters: Jesus, a charlatan, was killed by the Jews. His disciples stole the body. Jews should have absolutely no dealings with His followers. The decisions at Jabne, promulgated by these letters, clearly constituted a formal and definitive excommunication of Christians from the Synagogue (Edward Flannery, (New York: The Macmillan Co., 1965), pp. 29 and 34).

Jesus told the disciples several times of his imminent death. He then cut the Last Supper short having only three of the usual four cups of wine saying the next time wine would pass his lips he would be in “paradise”, knowing of the custom of offering spiked wine to those being crucified, and his sense of service [warped as it may seem] equated the ultimate selfless example as his highest aspiration.

From the acquisition of the donkey to make his entry to Jerusalem, mocking Pilate who was entering the city on the opposite side coming from Caesarea, to the arrangement with Judas, so his arrest would endanger the fewest followers, indicates the whole train of events were planned as far as he could and could have been stopped at several instances if he chose.

Temple leaders [Jews] wanted Jesus dead. Romans obliged in condemning him and carrying out the execution, with further urging from the Jews, although Jesus to his own ends was in command all the time, and chose death.

The Romans “pulled the trigger” and would not have been pardoned at Nuremberg

And as she was not married until the marriage was consummated, unless they had witnesses who caught her in the act of consummating the marriage they could not convict her of any subsequent adultery.

Anyway the Hebrew book the Toledot Jeshu tells us Jesus was a troubled boy and not a very nice person. It can’t have been easy being a single mother back then, following being raped. Jesus was (The Hebrew book the Toledot Jeshu says) anally raped by Judas. So it is little wonder Jesus went of the rails. Eventually things came to a head and he died shamefully.

I am not sure any of this really happened, but it might explain the total contempt with which Christains are regarded by Jews. That and a few centuries of persecution.

The “Jews for Judaism” web site describes Jesus as a false prophet predicted in the Old Testament.

“…Jesus the Nazarene, who imagined that he would be messiah and was killed, is alluded to in the book of Daniel, as it is said, `And the sons of the transgressors among thy people will rise, in order to establish a vision, and will stumble’ (Dan. 11:14). Can there be a greater stumbling then this? All the prophets said that messiah will be a redeemer and a savior to the Israelites, will bring together their outcasts, and will strengthen their obedience to the Divine precepts, but he (Jesus) caused destruction by the sword to Israel, the dispersion of those left, and their humiliation. He changed the law, and misled many people to worship a being beside G-D….” 17.

Ryan, Oh my bad. So you DO admit Jews killed Jesus ?

I don’t even know if Jesus existed, Kea.

What I said, more than once, is that:

    1. Jesus was Jewish.
    2. Jesus’ countrymen were Jewish.
    3. The story is that Jesus was executed by Roman authorities who were pressured by his countrymen to do so.

So yes, Jesus’ death in the story is allegedly due in large part to the actions of Jewish people.

EDIT: Note, I am saying “the actions of Jewish people”, not “the actions of the Jewish people”, which is kind of my point. It means nothing more to say “Jews killed Jesus” than “people who lived in the country where Jesus lived and died killed Jesus” or “locals killed Jesus”, etc.

My point – and I’m not sure how much clear I can make it – is, “So what?”

THREE PROOFS THAT JESUS WAS JEWISH
1 – He went into his father’s business
2 – He lived at home until the age of 33
3 – He was sure his mother was a virgin, and his mother sure he was God

THREE PROOFS THAT JESUS WAS IRISH
1 – He never got married
2 – He never held a steady job
3 – His last request was a drink

THREE PROOFS THAT JESUS WAS ITALIAN
1 – He talked with his hands
2 – He had wine with every meal
3 – He worked in the builidng trades

THREE PROOFS THAT JESUS WAS CALIFORNIAN
1 – He never cut his hair
2 – He walked around barefoot
    3 – He invented a new religion

THREE PROOFS THAT JESUS WAS MEXICAN:
    1. His first name was Jesus
    2. He was bilingual
    3. He was always being harassed by the authorities

THREE PROOFS THAT JESUS WAS BLACK
    1. He called everybody “brother”
    2. He liked Gospel
    3. He couldn’t get a fair trial

THREE PROOFS THAT JESUS WAS A WOMAN …..
    1. He had to feed a crowd at a moment’s notice when there was no food
    2. He kept trying to get the message across to a bunch of men who JUST
    DIDN’T GET IT
    3. Even when He was dead, He had to get up because there was more work

So these rockets (not missiles), which have killed an average of one person per year for the last 13 years (which is, yes, terrorism and criminal), if one of them landed on their target, you’d expect air strikes from the fourth most powerful air force in the world in retaliation.

How many Palestinians completely unrelated to the rockets do you reasonably expect these air strikes would kill?

The wider discussion is moot, the shield’s purpose is to prevent what happened from recurring.

And there would be nothing to debate, if you want an apologist for what happened in the past (and would happen again in the same circumstances) you will have to look elsewhere.

Ryan, so you do realise that a shield (a missile shield not just a rocket shield) that prevented an IDF resort to retaliation would save more Arab lives than Israeli.

Yes. Do you think there are any better ways to prevent Israel from killing masses of civilians than giving them a nearly billion-dollar system to prevent homemade rockets from killing very very few civilians?

Obviously it depends on exactly how many innocent civilians the IDF kills, but I suspect that US$900 million could save a fuck of a lot more Palestinian (and Israeli) lives if it was spent on infrastructure, medicine, education, etc. To the point where we could almost say, “Well, each year a rocket will randomly get through and kill an Israeli citizen, and then the IDF will bomb the shit out of Palestinians and kill a hundred civilians, but a thousand lives are saved by this investment in infrastructure and medicine.”

Now, I know that’s not going to happen. Saving Arab lives isn’t the reason for the expense.

I just think that, “They’re saving Palestinian civilian lives by stopping Palestinian terrorists from doing something that would make Israel so mad that it would kill a bunch of Palestinian civilians” is a bit like saying, “I’m saving Bobby’s face by stopping his mother from saying something that would make her husband so mad that he’d beat them both senseless.”

As in, sure, the end result is Palestinian lives and Bobby’s face are saved, but it’s not really a solution to high-five about.

Ryan, the shield is not just about the home-made weapons of old (the rocket parts are now smuggled into Gaza, they are not home made) but the weapons in Lebanon. It is not really an optional spend. No country threatened by that array of weaponry would do anything other than develop a missile shield.

And no nation that posed as a peace broker, as the US does, could do other than support measures that improved security and deterred future attacks.

“As in, sure, the end result is Palestinian lives and Bobby’s face are saved, but it’s not really a solution to high-five about.”

Given, neither side wants to make the concessions required for peace, sustaining the cease-fire is as good as it gets.
