100 people to follow on Twitter

August 17th, 2014 at 12:00 pm by David Farrar

Bryce Edwards in the NZ Herald gives a list of 100 people to follow on Twitter for the election.

Redbaiter will be delighted to have made the list. Well done Red!

The slightly sad thing is I think I was already following 99 of the 100 people listed (can’t follow myself!)

Thank you Mr. Farrar, and thanks too for your kind support when I first ventured into that medium.

I’ll do my best to continue to try and “come across as crazy”…. :)

Bryce Edwards clearly showing his very left wing biases there. Red is certainly strident ,but not crazy. What red advocates is merely what was mainstream conservativism from 30 -40 years ago.

How Bradbury is not described as “crazy” is proof of my assertion of left wing bias. Completly bonkers.

Actually, to be fair to Bryce Edwards, he did say I only “came across as crazy”, which is not quite the same as saying I am crazy.

He pointed this out himself on Twitter.

The funny thing is the person who most often says I am crazy is Whaleoil.

(and thanks Johnboy. Coming from you that’s really meaningful :) )

If you read Erich Fromme Johnboy, as I am sure a man of your intellect undoubtedly does, you know that the line between insanity and sanity is very relative.

(Fromme’s thesis is that madness is quite more prevalent in society than we realise but not noticed because so many are suffering it appears normal)

If Labour keeps declining, and National keeps turning further and further left, perhaps one day the Conservative will be the party of the right, and National will be the party of the left !

Well done Red – definitely one of the posters on KB who is worth a read either for the truth you shine on matters or for a good laugh when in full attack mode.

I’m in the David Garrett camp on this on.

Twitter reinforces the thought that you had to be stupid to begin with to think that social media was the best thing since sliced bread. You had/have to be a complete moron not to realize that 95% + of the content is totally moronic.

People operate on the following levels:

    1. Instinct

    2. Feeling

    3. Logic and clear thought

    4. Eventually #3 turns into what appears to be cynicism

Twitter operates on level 2. To many, it feels good to spout off about absolutely meaningless things and get a “like” It is a form of affirmation/validation. Perhaps in our dumbed down world this is where the cultural war has to be fought as the soundbites of the left are short “diversity”, “equality”, “bigots”, “racist” and suit the Twitter medium perfectly.

Now, I will sit here and secretly hope you up vote me and my great comment :)

EAD, Twitter has two things going for it. Its reach and its immediacy. Its the true people’s media. News gets to twitter far more quickly than it gets into the MSM. That is why so many of them subscribe to it, for its immediate news value.

Secondly, its world wide, so you can get stuff from all over the globe on an immediate basis. Hashtags provide the capability to keep up with newsworthy events as they’re actually happening.

As for the tweets, sure there are a lot of idiots on their wasting their lives with inconsequential trash. But you only read those you choose to follow. I try not to follow people I have no synergy with, and to only follow those who have something interesting to say. There are some great contributors out there across the globe and they provide so much interesting and thoughtful fact and opinion.

You also have the choice to block those you consider a waste of time. Pete George for example, and most of NZ’s media who are pretty much the most boring bunch of progressives out there.

So its not all bad. You should try it. Follow some interesting accounts and you might change your mind.

A society/nation requires rules in order to function Baity. Traditionally the state was responsible for justice & defence while the churches covered charity, education but above all, provided a method to keep the unwashed under control with promises about the next world.

What my generation started was the consigning of the Skymagic to the dustbins of Western history.

All that has happened is that the state has stepped in to fill the vacuum left.

    Do you follow News.com.au?

I can’t work out what to make of this story:

IN WHAT can only be described as a lurch to the extreme right by the conservative CLP Government, a 500km stretch of the Barkly Stock Route has seemingly been declared sex free.

While only a minority of Territorians are attractive enough to get free sex, the official sex free prescribed area would be a first for any jurisdiction outside the Vatican.

In what is an ironic situation for a road named a ‘route’, a Territory Government sign on the remote road announces the new restrictions without any explanation: “Warning No F**k for 500km.”

The second paragraph (“While only a minority of Territorians are attractive enough to get free sex”) makes me think it’s a satirical article.

Particularly because of this blurb at the end:

About the author: David Wood has won worldwide acclaim for his work in the area of euphemistic jokes, and was recently described by nymag.com as “the man who could someday win a Pulitzer for groundbreaking work in dick”.
