Oil for Food Corruption

The report into the UN Oil for Food programme is absolutely damning. Not only is the official in charge of the programme exposed a liar and a crook, but the former Secretary-General and the son of the current one are also both under a cloud.

Now we have the finger pointing with former SG Boutros Boutros-Ghali blaming Kofi Annan.

It has been interesting to look at the coverage back home. The Dom Post had it as the lead story of the world section, while the NZ Herald had a tiny piece on Page 17. They devoted more space to the fact that Iran did not like President Bush’s state of the union speech!
