Police Recruitment

The Labour/NZ First pledge to increase police numbers by 1,000 is looking increasingly shaky, and as Simon Power points out they are already on Plan B after just 13 days. Actually one can argue they are on Plan C.

Plan A – recruit 1,000 extra police on top of replacing retiring extra Police.

Plan B – lower fitness standards

Plan C – target teenage school-leavers

So what will be Plans D onwards? Maybe:

Plan D – reduce minimum height restriction to 4’6″

Plan E – allow police to charge protection money to supplement earnings

Plan F – designate all parking wardens as police officers

Plan G – strike profit-sharing deal with Mongrel Mob, in exchange for Mob acting as recruitment arm
