So now the PM is pulling out of interviews on weekend current affairs shows. Says everything and the media know it.

Along with Winston Peters flip flopping on his stupid loyalty document, we can see some media outlets are bored and now openly laughing at the Joke Government.

In my line of business, I am regularly called upon to repair or rebuild poor… ‘workmanship’ for want of a better word. I can often spot the disasters before they happen by simply knowing the caliber of those involved.

They are almost always Flash Harrys who talk a big game but just do not have the necessary skills.

So I think this is what National are doing, to a degree. They knew Winston would be destructive, they knew Labour’s talent pool was extremely shallow and divided, they knew the Greens would be whackos.

Sometimes you just gotta stand back and let people f*** it all up, then wait for the phone to ring.

Jacinda is not leading this country. A year in and she’s in full damage control, negotiating instead of ruling and putting out fires all over the reservation just like the end of Clark’s last term.

Jacinda is losing the media, but what I am closely watching now, is subtle behaviours from other Labour MPs towards the PM. They are going to be the bellwether that tells me when the end is nigh.

  I think that the answer in question time on thursday that there are emails between Clare and Cindy about Derek Handley’s botched appointment (via her Gmail account) is the reason for the cancellations. The MSM has been the biggest cheerleader for Labour. I will never forget Katie Bradford and her “No Matter what we do, no matter what we say” speech with regard to Nationals polling numbers.

They are starting to turn.

If nothing else, the fourth estate are seasoned political observers, and they know that something is very wrong with this government. The change in tone that we have been hearing from certain journos as it dawns on them that not only do we have incompetents on the treasury benches, but that they may have had a hand in putting them there, is starting to become tangible.

Gower and his “Lost Luggage” analogy. Barry Soper on ZB essentially calling the diary mixup unbelieveable.

I watched Katie Bradford on the news the other day talking about the government and looking very angry.

The COL’s total incompetence was not the final nail in their coffin, but their compulsive lying could well be.

  However, it is becoming more and more obvious that this coalition is not fit to govern. I have even had friends who are Labour Supporters admit this. Criticisms made on social media of this government are far less likely to get pushback from the left as their inability to govern becomes more apparent.
  
  The Mainstream Media, realizing this, now understand that their reputation is on the line, given how they reported during the campaign, and that they have lost the trust of their readership. This is why the worm is turning now.

Me thinks Winston is stuck in a hole in his quest to pin his leaked Pension details on National and needs to cause trouble against Labour to regain some of the voter that follow the stardust the media created for Jacinda.

  All is not bad in our young children
  10,800 children participated in the AIMS Games in Tauranga (the 15th time) all week, in 22 sports.
  They came for all over New Zealand, Australia and as far away as Tonga.
  The congeniality was wonderful all the time.
  As before the vast organisation was superb.
  The children were a credit to themselves and their families.
  No, it went well , especially as Ardern was not there.

  How about the parents (if they know who they are) helping them with homework, maths, English, etc., the things that matter. Oh, forgot, parents are apart, mother is out pubbling with a de facto, spending the extra benefit payments.

    They don’t just fail to help their kids with their homework.
    The traditional way huge families take care of their kids is to make the older kids look after the younger ones.
    That may have been excusable when both parents worked/ there was no contraception available/ no state support.
    But now you get welfare queens having 10 or more kids on the benny and they keep the kids out of school to look after mums latest little money-earner.
    While mum blows the kids’ money at the pokies or pub.

  When they grow up in a house with no books, unemployed, illiterate parents whose only aspiration is the next benefit payment how on earth can you expect those children to aspire to anything more. How can you expect teachers to change the mind set of those children. I feel for those teachers.

Was watching NZs Parliamentary question time a couple of days ago. Judith Collins had a couple of questions for an ex Public Servant who seemed to be in the same mold as Claire Curran.
The “Minister of Building and Construction” was the fancy title endowed on the ex Public Servant called Jenny Salesa. She couldnt answer Judith Collins questions any which way . It got so bad that the clown called Trevor Mallard as her defacto protector saved her pathetic answers as “Minister of Building and Construction”. Salesa just like Clair Curran was completely out of her depth as NZs “Minister of Building and Construction”/Destruction.
Seems it is just another indictment of the type of losers and no hopers in Lie-bour/Green Parties that Peters with intended consequences selected to stuff up NZs economy and quality of life. Nuff said.

  How about Meridian Energy cancelling prompt payment discounts because it is unfair to the poor who cannot afford to pay. So far it is only Meridian but other energy companies are considering the change.
  No penalty for late payments so we can now cancel our automatic payment and take 3 months to pay our account. ?

Ive been thinking about Cindys missteps as regards statements she makes.
Having employed many people over the past 45 years I have encountered the few employees usually in low grade unskilled positions who have trouble keeping up with events.

So you ask them something one day and they gove you an answer and then you ask them the same thing a day or so later and they give you a completely different answer.

When you question them about the differences they look at you with a blank stare.

I think Cindy suffers from the same problem.

Am I being pedantic or why do people have to embellish disaster stories?

Fox reports the first fatalities of the hurricane were killed when a tree fell on their house. Definitely attributable to the hurricane. No problem here.

1 died while plugging in a generator. ???

Another had a Medical event and could not be reached. ???

So this mega storm has caused the deaths of 2 people. And a further 2 died, one of electrocution ( probably) and another died of other causes and may have died if medical personnel had reached her anyway.

Or is it not news unless there is death and mayhem….

      Yes cmm I think you’re right. Before the election I wrote on this blog that I didn’t trust Peters, but even more importantly I would never vote for any party that had that prick Jones on its list.
      
      I was delighted that the Peters party only got around 7%….. but then horrified when he betrayed the country’s clearly stated preference by appointing Labour as the government.
      
      The last election will go down in history as the first visible sign of New Zealand’s decline as a first world democracy. The decline actually started with Nationals soft socialism and race based policies….. but sure as hell that cunt Peters accelerated the destruction and his voters must be shitting themselves to see what he did to their trust.

        Actually, I think that New Zealand has gone further down the road towards the third world than most people realise.
        
        The Law of Unintended Consequences has created our version of MMP which was originally intended to give a ‘voice’ (whatever that means) to diverse groups and political views. An opportunity for those outside the mainstream to be ‘represented’.
        
        But in practice this means that because no single party can reasonably be expected to gain an outright majority, almost any small group of racists, communists, single issue fanatics or nutters can effectively govern the country by proxy by appointment and the threat of withdrawing their support.
        
        This kinda worked OK when the racists and nutters were just ACT, the Maoris and that bland bow tie whstsiname….. but now we have seen the full horror come home to roost, and it’s not funny.
        
        We will never be able to rid ourselves of MMP either, because any referendum to remove it would be seen as just a power grab by vested interests and not as a genuine attempt to rectify a faulty system.
        
        It doesn’t matter really whether the COL continues to destroy our country or whether the soppy Nats do it. Either way we’re fucked.
        
        Under the current MMP system there is only one realistic outcome. Continued social and economic destruction leading to armed resistanc, revolution and the breakdown of society. Hopefully the Americans won’t come to our aid as every country they ‘help’ seems to turn to shit. Maybe the Chinese will rescue us as they will value us as a big dairy farm….. Who knows?

So there is a difference between a real capitalist (me) and those phoney Chamber of Commerce type crooks or inner business groups. The Chch City council’s decision to build a new stadium to bail out all these poor businessmen, who invested nearby “because there was going to be a new stadium.” Oh such a sad story. Actually the money is coming from Central Government which is even worse. The way that Super Rugby is dying, and the fact that in five years time the golden era of Read, Barrett, Whitelock, Retallick will be over. All year this stadium will be empty. Then there was the Kiwibuild scheme, it is now a you pay first, crooked companies will then build it. I don’t know how many times I have seen, interest rates go up, these companies fold and depositors lose everything. There are business men out there that prefer leftwing governments.

      I don’t believe it was ever a government department. The Consumers’ Institute was always funded by subscription, but there was some statutory support – firms couldn’t use the reports for advertising etc.

Thought Simon did a damn fine job on the Nation this morning but Lisa Owen just wanted to bang on about his expenses leak which really was a non issue.
You could tell he wasn’t interested because he was keen to talk about the fiasco within the COLs but Lisa was not having a bar of it.
The panel who are the darlings of the PM gave Simon a very hard time about things he hadn’t done….!! I was left shaking my fucking head !~

  I find this quite interesting as I have been wondering how much the unelected first fisherman is involved in the Peters-selected Prime Ministerial office while he is supposedly primary caregiver to Ardern’s child.
  If he is entitled to chat on social media about what is/isn’t recorded in the Prime Minister’s diary, what else is he privy to. What is his security clearance?
  Who might he be accountable to for, say, information that leaks from that office? Can his personal correspondence be OIA’d to check that none of it contains government business?

I have had second thoughts about what the speech tomorrow will be all about.
Jacinda will be using the opportunity to re-position the Government with her faithful, after almost 11 months in power.
She will talk positively about all the things they have achieved (ban on oil & gas, Family Support package, multiple working groups, abolishing partnership schools) and ignore all of the problems that have arisen and are emerging.
She will then use baby Neve as a political prop. offering up cuddles to anyone that wants one.
Her sycophantic mob will cheer loudly on cue and be dancing in the streets with joy afterwards.
The media will be back to praising her leadership and vision and all will be well in the world again.

  There’s not much love lost between the islanders Komata. Years ago we used to cart truckloads of hay over the hill for various pony clubs & after unloading we’d make a beeline for the nearest pub with sufficient parking for a couple of truck & trailer units.
  
  The Quinns Post in Upper Hutt was one such oasis but the ethnic divisions in the public bar would have been a challenge few multiculturalists could have got their heads around.
  
  Samoans in one group then two rows of vacant leaners to the Tongans. Another gap & then the Maori, Pakeha, Cooks & the Tokes. The same in the Porirua bars.
  
  Anecdotally, the assembly line at Todd Motors was organised along the same lines. Mix ethnicities & there’d be a bloodbath.
  
  Problem is that most of the bleeding heart knowalls sit in a group wanking furiously while singing Kumbaya & drinking green tea. They have absolutely no fucking idea about how their pet theories pan out in the real world.

    Oh yes, I’m very aware of the ‘divisions’ between the islands and for the following reasons:
    
    Many years ago I worked for the then NZ Railways, supervising wagon loading, and learnt very early on that the ONLY way the wagons could be loaded with any degree of speed was to have loading gangs composed of a single member of each island: One Tongan, One Tokolau, One Nuiean, One Samoan and One from Raro. The rationale was a very simple one; The represntative from each island was ‘honour-bound’ to uphold the ‘pride’ of his island. He would therefor work to maximum capacity to preserve said island’s ‘status’. They would also be watching each other like hawks to see if they could be accused of ‘slacking’! The arrangement worked well and very effectively SO LONG AS THERE WAS ONLY ONE MEMBER FROM EACH ISLAND!! Introduce two from a specific island into the mix and it was all on as the ‘newer’ (second) member would automatically try to ‘Lord it over’ those whom he considered ‘inferiors’, with his mate being equally honour-bound to support him!! In such situations, things could become slightly ‘exciting’ very quickly.
    
    Notice however that I do not mention Maori within these loading gangs.
    
    This was done very deliberately, as if a Maori so much as showed his face within such a group they would instantly forget their antipathy towards each other and turn en masse against the common foe! Maori Supervisors, because they had ‘Authority’ were respected on that basis (but ONLY on that basis), but the ‘ordinary’ Maori guys learnt the realities very quickly and were never in sight; it was too dangerous!
    
    I saw something similar happen in a pub on Quay Street as well and with similar results; Islanders fighting each other for ‘the Honour of their island’ but instantly uniting when a Maori guy walked in!
    
    Very, very dangerous for the foreigner.
    
    Yet curiously (at least to me), on a Friday night when the Liberty boat from Devonport base landed at the Ferry Building steps and ‘The Navy came to town’, Maori and Islanders forgot their grievances and ALL joined in against the Navy!
    
    Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Police were noticeably absent on such occasions, althought they DID stroll along afterwards and ‘uplift’ the survivors…
    
    In such situations, the ‘do-gooders’ haven’t a clue!

  I was referring to all those subtle little put-downs Maori usually become aware of from early in life.
  They may seem harmless to others, but they can infect a person’s psyche and cause a lot of damage.
  I remember a pleasant Maori guy from up north saying in the media that when he was growing up, “to be Maori was to be nothing”.
  What an awful way for a section of your society to feel about themselves.
  Yes, I know the behaviour of many Maori contributes, but it does no good for anyone to make others feel bad about themselves.

Actually no, ‘taint the case; they are usually put down BY THEIR OWN PEOPLE!!

Maori and Pacific Islanders can be almost insanely jealous of those whom they consider to be ‘up themselves’ by wanting to succeed and to escape from ‘The Tribe’. Their standard tactic is to use ridicule and derision against such an individual and, where that doesn’t wotk will resort to main-strength violence to subdue the person’s intentions!

Maori and PI girls are especially targetted for such treatment, by both the family and, where that doesn’t work, by their female peers and it is not unknown for ‘ambitious’ (self-motivated, succeeding) Maori or PI girls to be ‘ganged up on’ by other , larger and more numerous, female members of their both their ‘tribe’ and school community and beaten severely for daring to want to ‘Be Pakeha / Palagi’!! Those so-called ‘school riot’ videos are frequently no more than these actions that have been videoed.

There is unfortunately little that can be done to curb this jealousy / envy, and, ultimately ‘ignorance’. Some manage to escape through shear will power but in doing so are deliberately alienated from the tribe by the elders and their peers (Unless they subsequently succeed in which case ‘all is ‘Conveniently’ forgiven / forgotten’). Most, especially the girls, having learnt their ‘place’ within the tribal hierachy, simply acquiese to the tribal wishes, although some do find another way of escaping, doing-so through marriage to a European male, an event which gives them ‘status’ within their community, and also enables them to escape from its all surrounding, and very suffocating clutches. Such events are however rare.

And the result of all this? For the tribe, the confirmation of its ‘superioririty’ and ‘ignorance’ , the creation of an atmosphere of fear and the reimposition of ‘control’ over the recalcitrant individual. It has won, it is once more in charge. And for the individual subject to the violence mentioned above? A lifeless, uninspired and bleak future, where the motions are gone through, while the spirit inside slowly dies, mourning what might have been.

Both the tribe and the individual have lost; the tribe without knowing or caring (the ‘monolith’ intact) the individual caring, but, unable to do anything, dying a slow and infinitely sad death..

I’ve seen it happen, it is very, very sad…

On the basis of the above (and in the interests of accuracy), your statement should really read ‘…Being put down by ignorant family and Tribal members, all their lives’.

Such is the reality. It’s rarely reported, and never by the communities involved. Silence has advantages…

  Quite a few P I girls these days are marrying European guys, especially English ones.
  I’ve never heard of anyone criticising them for doing so.
  Maori are a pretty depressed race, let’s face it.
  I do believe subtle put-downs contribute.
  I do agree though that being put down by your own family/tribe would be even worse.
  Worse still are attitudes in Maori culture against using contraception, male entitlement and violence, and farming out kids all over the place.
