  That’s only your opinion, founded on post modernist reletevism. After all. If there is no God, then the strongest man decides what is moral. And if we follow that thought to logical conclusion, then morality is only what suits the strongest at the time.

    Padriv – totally agree with your comments. I actually attended the protest. I had 4 people ask me on Monday whether I was going to the meeting? By the time of the 4th person I thought God was trying to tell me something and so I said yes. I am very glad that I did go.The media say there were hundreds there. I would have thought there was at least 1000?
    
    It was interesting that the movement was led by Maori who are obviously very concerned about this development. It was mentioned that in 1854 the parliamentary prayer was instituted.
    According to an elder who spoke, he prophesied that the parliament which prayed to Jesus Christ could be seen as a house built on the rock. Once you take away Jesus from the prayer then Parliament becomes a house built on the sand. And he prophesied that the house would not stand. The house would be swept away and another house would rise up and take its place.
    
    It was a pretty powerful prophecy. The foundation of our nation is Christian. The talk that this is a secular nation is nonsense. This was the pronouncement only of Helen Clark, who no longer holds office.
    
    Our nation was built on the foundations of Christianity and in the name of Jesus Christ. Without that spiritual foundation we have nothing on which to stand.
    
    Lastly looking around at the crowd there were a lot of Maori and a lot of working class people. If I was a labour MP I would look at that crowd and say there are lot of labour voters there. Labour may not believe in the power of Jesus particularly but they do believe in the power of the ballot box. And needlessly upsetting all of those people who likely vote Labour, is a serious mistake on their part, in my opinion.

  Exactly. We are a secular state, thank god. There should not even be a prayer at all. Our national anthem likewise is cringeworthy. The Maori version is far more preferable, as it actually sounds good to the ear — even though, and yes I do know this, it is a direct translation of the awful English lyrics.

      Maori spiritualism. The weird thing is the mainstream Christian denominations seem to be the ones who , apart from gubmint types , have been the most enthusiastic embracers of said stuff.
      
      But as with all things cultural marxist/post modern , the important thing is not what our betters have introduced , it’s what has been done away with …..

    It just means a separation of powers between church and state. To stop the kind of thing that Henry VIII did.
    A prayer if said, in a Christian country, as we are, (just look at ALL our laws) MUST have God and Jesus Christ in it.

One of the most vilest regimes in the world, the CCP, have bought NZ’s political class. Andrew Little, Phil Goff, John Key, Simon Bridges all little bitches who have all sold out to the CCP.

Currently CCP are fisting their way across the Pacific with their predatory lending while NZ taxpayers pour billions into the Pacific. NZ looks the other way to CCP buying up the Pacific.

Given that this country is founded on the Westminster system and Judeo-Christian values I failed to see how one Socialist in a temporary position can trump the value system of this country.

And I’m not of the Christian faith, but I will defend the cornerstone foundations of this country.

  I can’t see that the form of the prayer in Parliament does much to rock the foundations of the Westminster system, to be honest. I’d have thought MMP, say, or talk of a republic was much more significant.
  Likewise I’m not sure that this specific move is much of a threat to the non-religious Judeo-Christian values we have inherited (some of which can crop up in various other cultures as well – e.g., the “golden rule”). Which in particular do you think are threatened by this specific move?

    One thing we can be sure of, is this – every time the regressive left smash down some western convention, value, or foundational axiom, SGA will state “I’m not sure that this specific move is much of a threat”.       On the other hand, the Chicken Little, “the sky is falling”, mindset has its disadvantages as well. If we had frozen our conventions and values in time, we would still have an absolute monarchy, slavery or serfdom, and all be Roman Catholics. And I’m sure that there were those at the time who saw such changes as the beginning of the end. Our culture has always changed with time – they’ll be giving women the right to vote next (shudder).

  The roots of British democracy come from pre-Christian Saxon and Scandinavian cultures. Alfred the Great may well have used Christianity as a unifying system against “Pagan” invaders but he was building on structures and traditions already in place.

  I’m RC , and that prayer is very Anglican and in history and intent , anti Catholic . I’m more than happy for it to be retained in its Anglican format and don’t feel in the least bit “excluded” , in fact I’m damned happy to live in the system we have , long may it continue ( which is what the left don’t want , they want change ) Fuck ’em.

Any faith that was reliant on being included in parliamentary prayer to exist probably isn’t a very good faith.

Go to church, sing your hymns, give your tithes and offerings. Parliament need not be involved.

To take this reference out of a Christian prayer at the opening of our Parliament shows just how contemptuous of our history are Mr Mallard and others like him.
It’s a shame and a disgrace. He’s pissing on our past.

    While I am an atheist and do not believe in an all encompassing god.
    The bible should be read and interpreted as a working manual for good and respectful living.
    There in it has a purpose, for everyone.
    How to respect yourself
    How to respect others
    How to behave in your day to day life.
    and in all that, the whole thing is written as a suggestion.
    The kingdom of heaven is open to you IF you do all these things otherwise…….
    If you don’t believe in God it doesn’t matter what the consequences are, because you don’t believe.

There were only hundreds – I know that was the case – I read it in the papers!

Although if you were a lying media whore, you could tell yourself that every thousand is made up of ten “hundreds” and so if there were around two thousand people there – you wouldn’t be lying because there was in fact 20 hundreds of protestors!

I think the behaviour in Parliament has been somewhat better under this leader and speaker. In the past, straight after the prayer, behaviour would seem to mock the prayer.

This move could be to be more encompassing or could it be an indicator of “New World Order” which this Christian talks about, warning also of Christian Zionists.

Marx once stated that ‘Organised religion is the opiate of the people’ which is why the old USSR was determinedly anti-Christian, and decreed that ‘There was no God’.

That statement is still adhered to by socialsts everywhere, Mallard included, and his action was only a matter of time in its enforcement. It is evidently a reflection of the man and his ethics and principles.

That the SLG and her cohorts didn’t oppose the prayer’s removal is also revealing, and I would suggest that is a reflection of their own belief systems.

Noticeably, none if the MSM have asked the SLG what she believes. Perhaos they should. I’m sure her reply would be enlightening…
