If it’s good enough for Labour and the Greens to hijack and sabotage the partial sale of energy retailers when National was in office

I hereby give Simon Bridges permission to loudly advise New Zealanders not to take part in the purchase of any “Kiwibuild” property, as they will be cheaply built shit boxes within a subwoofer of State House tenants. I repeat ‘loudly’.

This will piss Twyford off no end.

That just clearly demonstrates the fear that both the coalition and Ardern the liar in particular have of him.
    
    Now that may make you feel warm and fuzzy all over but remember, they may be currently muzzling someone you despise but they are also avoiding honest assessment of what is really happening so your warm fuzzies may well be based on a pile of bullshit.
    
    Don’t you care that Karel Sroubeck, a known drug dealer and gang affiliate was given residency in NZ despite advice to the contrary?
    
    As a New Zealander, aren’t you concerned that you have no idea what the terms of the agreement between Ardern the liar and the Toxic winston really involve?
    
    Do you really not give a shit when the leader of your party and the current unelected pm resorts to obfuscation or blatant lies when questioned or to bolster her fragile ego?
    
    Are you not concerned when a known personal associate of Ardern the liar, D Handley, receives both citizenship and a job without legitimately qualifying for either?

      All the above concern me greatly and together we could probably both assemble a huge list where we have complete agreement, mate.
      
      But I happen to think that Soimon isn’t up to the task of leading the opposition to this bunch of criminal hugging quasi communist ecofucks and I frankly despair that the party that he leads has much of a chance of saving our country from becoming another Zimbabwe or Venezuela within the next few years.
      
      p.s. I’m writing this fresh in the knowledge that I’m a slightly right wing Libertarian (see marcmywords’ ‘political compass’ thread below 😀 )

        I guess you have watched him in the house and unless you and I are in different planets I see nothing to make me wish to offer him anything other than respect.
        
        Without wanting to push any of your buttons, please identify where you think he could do better with the limited press time and zero press support he receives.

        I’m not in the minority at all. At the last poll only 7% of people preferred him as a possible PM and this figure is a DROP of 3% from the previous one.
        
        The man comes across as a featureless dribble in his media performances and he has no FIRE and zero PASSION.
        
        Even if his mind is in the right place, he seems to have absolutely no ability to express this in a way that connects with the audience. Actually I wonder if his mind IS in the right place, but hey, let’s give him the benefit of the doubt.
        
        Adern is an openly communistic ecofuck, an incompetent and probably corrupt liar and freak show who accidentally got pushed into the job and she commands 42% approval and rising. Stop and ask yourself “Is National in deep shit or what?”

        I’m fascinated by the amount of disagreement with my unbiased and factually based assessment of the so-called current ‘leader’ of the so-called ‘opposition’.
        
        Measuring by the sheer number of downticks alone it seems that a huge majority here think that National led by this bloke has a shit show of unseating the communist alliance in 2020.

    artemisia, I hope its not F&P product ,we recently spent a lot of money on an entirely new kitchen including taking out walls , 2 large beams ,builders,electricians, jib stoppers ,plumbers etc etc
    when finished the only problems we have had is the Fisher and Paykel junk ,both the hob and fridge have been problematic .
    DON’T buy this rubbish,after 3 months the fridge was bleeding water all over our new floors and the hob had started to crack,hob replaced and it took three visits to fix the bleeding fridge……

      I know some F&P stuff is bloody rubbish. In this rebuild I’m staying in, the bottom of the oven went after 3 years and the side light, got the guy to fix it this time last year, within 6 months it all went again. In many cases the budget brand in the store is better. It sadly is a case of buying the German, Scandinavian or even Italian btand instead of ours.

        Yup, I was in Harvey Normans, and the Chinese sales assistant told us to avoid F & P as its made in China. They also have a whole bunch of clones that are even worse. F& P are aware of this ( I know someone who works for them) but what they will do is another question.

      Very unlikely that a large government adjacent (see what I did there?) programme would buy appliances from other than a local company. I had a look at a couple of Kiwibuild developer websites but couldn’t see appliance brands.

  This Kiwi Build is starting to look like a train wreck for quality control and proper process. It seems developers are tapping in and cutting corners which is nobody’s best interest except for numbers on the board. Labour should slow down and make sure they have it right. They could use National’s current poor performance as an opposition to do that now. I would hope National realises this and do their homework on this now rather than continuing to shoot itself in the foot and become more submerged in coverups. I’ve read predictions that National are now polling under 40%, if that is true Labour should up their game with quality of governance – if they can of course. Kiwi Build is a place to improve the systems, not just a chance for photo opportunities over what may soon become a stinking carcass.

    I should verify that I have no confirmation of the issues with Kiwi Build, but rather concerns when developers can sell half their intended build off the plans to the Government. It has to be right, not rushed – because of the financial commitment for young families and the Government role should be a water tight guarantee.

Tracy Watkins makes a solid play for Mike Jaspers recently vacated spin job this morning. Her latest offering on Stuff this morning is a poor damage control effort though. No mention of Sroubek/ILG cock-up, Labour youth camp abuse debacle, Socialist Cindy’s being rebuffed by both the USA and China leadership or the KiwiBuild fiasco. These are all recent and hanging over Labour like Damacles sword: she obviously didn’t think she could really get away with it which is why no comments allowed.

But Watkins gives away more than she should have. No mention of the Greens at all. I have heard things are really not good in the coalition, esp. with the Greens highly annoyed at Winston getting all the light. 2019 won’t be good Tracy, but for all the reasons you are trying to hide.

        Media were quickly shuffled out of the room during a meeting between Malaysia and New Zealand when Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad started airing concerns over China’s actions in the South China Sea.
        
        Imagine if this happened under National’s watch! NZ MSM would be making a big story about themselves being “kicked out” as front page news, superimposed with “leaked” shots of John Key or Bill English smiling when greeting Mahathir Mohamad, with Patrick Gower and co reporting from outside the doorway (blocked by Security “thugs” of course) saying “National suppressing reporting of any hint of criticism of themselves by world leaders etc” ….
        
        Perhaps though in this case Jacinda was anxious enough to ensure no-one back home here sees that not all world leaders have been smitten by “Jacindamania”???!!! Oh dear 🙂

It has even slipped in the backdoor of WO as the blubber masters struggle to fill in the daily space in his absence. Now commentators have turned new tricks as contributors making us think they might be better suited to idling away in a spare deck chair. Passing through Sanson yesterday so made our usual stop at Viv’s Kitchen. Once again provided with great hospitality, great music, great food, and no screaming kids.
Used male covenience, noticing a brat table has still not been installed, so the whinging millenials who caused a stir with a compliant media have been ignored . . . good decision Viv.
Seems adverse publicity had a reverse effect as they were as usual, very busy . . . many contented customers, being vested workers, boomers, and just a nice cross section of community.
Keep up the great work and don’t be intimidated by left-wing media, whinging millenials, or vile feminists.

Are landlords selling up? What’s up with new borrowing by property investors? (They would be the folk supplying the private rental pool.)

Looks like room for some data cherry picking by Mr Twyford and Ms Ardern to demonstrate that property investors are *not* getting out of the market.

Feel free to read between the following lines ….

1. Mr Twyford quoting Corelogic “National saying that landlords are selling up is simply scaremongering,” he told NZME. “Corelogic data shows that landlords purchased 38 percent of properties in October, which is consistent with the last two years – there has been no change in landlord activity.” (Newshub link 19 November)
2. Brian Fallow. ”In September, the share of new lending going to investors was 21 per cent, down from 26 per cent two years ago, while the share going to first home buyers rose from 12 to 17 per cent over the same period.”(Herald link 23 November)
3. Salvation Army. ”The demand for rentals is growing at three times the rate of home ownership in New Zealand, a new study says.” (Newshub link 17 October)
4. Trademe October property price index 21 November. “…. far more houses coming onto the market than last year, in October there was a 14 per cent boost in the number of properties for sale compared with 2017.” And “Buyers in the Auckland region have plenty to choose from at the moment with 23 per cent more properties onsite than last year.” So 14% more properties on the market nationwide, compared to a year ago. And 23% more in Auckland. (That’s a lot more properties on the market, more than a usual spring surge obviously. Are they sellers emigrating? Landlords selling up? New builds waiting for buyers? What happens to prices and developers if they don’t sell in a reasonable timeframe? Has the Housing Minister asked his advisers?)

For those who have watched season 2 of Making a Murderer, here is analysis of important elements by an American expert.

“Zellner’s consultants used a high-powered microscope to examine the bullet from Avery’s garage. It has fragments of wood embedded in it.

Zellner fired some bullets through a piece of wood siding and ended up with reference samples that look the same under a microscope.

This was a bullet that someone shot through a piece of wood, smeared with a known source of Halbach’s DNA, and dropped on the floor of Avery’s garage. It is crude work that does not hold up to scrutiny.

It was contrived to support a theory that does not fit with the blood evidence in the back of Halbach’s car, which forms two recognizable patterns and could not have been faked. The blood evidence shows that Halbach was bludgeoned when she was standing behind her car with the rear cargo door open. Her body was loaded into the back of her car. The skull fragments suggest she was shot twice in the head with a .22, presumably to make sure she was dead.

Reasonable people can debate who killed her, but physical evidence leaves no doubt as to how it happened.”

So the question is why was Teresa standing behind her vehicle with the cargo door open? Could Bobby Dassey have persuaded her to do so? Whoever did went on to be part of the conspiracy to frame Steven Avery. In New Zealand the police planted bullet evidence to frame Arthur Thomas in a similar vein to this bullet evidence planting here. Did Lieutenant James Lenk embark on the ultimate solidarity campaign and inveigle the help of PC Andrew Colborn to get the 36 million law suit off the county’s back? These guys were exposed for deliberately keeping Steven Avery in jail for 6 years while they knew who the rapist was, and the law suit conveniently went away after this murder with Avery in jail.

Does Zellner believe Bobby Dassey did it or is he a convenient Denny suspect as Glen Weggery was in Lundy?

This American guy is intensely interested in the Lundy case and has the whole trove of files, court submissions and evidence, access to everything. He and a number of others in America are hell bent on exposing the case for the international good, to debunk hoax forensic science and generally to get innocent people out of jail and off death row. Internationally court systems can not be trusted in this endeavour.

This we all know.

Over the next several months the case is to be correctly retold and the full truth revealed, and it could be one local court proceeding away from being out of the hands of New Zealanders, the media here are afraid to investigate and report.

        nsf, I agree Latta is a charlatan, and I add as useless as a spare prick at a wedding. This being said, he is probably correct in his opinion of Lundy, but he had screeds of information to draw from to form his opinion; doesn’t need to meet the man. I will further add that a lawyer who once was involved in an attempted Lundy retrial, is sadly now clinically insane.

        Jonathan Eaton is dedicated to the case. He seems shocked by the decision which is incorrect at every pass. He is far from insane, and has previously achieved the exoneration of Rex Haig and George Gwaze. Read the tea leaves, defence attorneys know infinitely more case facts than judges, that is the nature of things.
        David Hislop hanged Lundy by finding Colin Smith and Ironside to concede a falsehood, that the stain material was pure CNS tissue. There is no forensic evidence it is CNS tissue at all, and contains animal dna, so is from the food chain.

  Abolish prisons in Aotearoa.

        While the Lundy case is a lead balloon on KB a very significant point is reached. Whilst we have Christine’s DNA on his shirt (the same as probably every other married male wife’s DNA,) there remains a big problem that no DNA from Christine was found in the alleged CNS material (interally that is). Also not found were any neurons (the building block of the CNS with billions in even a tiny speck) – what was found was mammalian DNA in quantities larger than human DNA. Until that is resolved the Lundy case will not go away. Among the many questions is how does CNS possibly not have neurons? Why is there a border between DNA being on the shirt but none in the alleged CNS (yes right inside as it should be also surrounded by billions of neurons – but instead animal DNA). No signs of any other material from the wounds either. Of course I expect some bright Kiwiblogger can explain how DNA arrives in isolation on a shirt but none in the alleged CNS if, and it’s a big ‘if’ they arrived at the same time? Easy one for somebody filled up with Latta and ‘no man has the right to have his wife’s brain on his shirt.’

      I was convinced that Lindy Chamberlain killed Azaria. Then the baby clothes were found chewed up by a dingo.
      
      But in this case who is the ‘dingo’?
      
      The fake grief at the funeral was the sign. It was comedy gold.

        This is a matter of public interest when the police lock up the wrong man and leave killers unharrassed. 10km away and 10 years later killers took out Scott Guy. Many believe they are from the same societal strata as the Lundy killers, maybe they took comfort from this unsolved case.
        Oh, and maybe Lundy had some good points, he was at the hub of an active social group your friends clearly didn’t belong to. Most people are not subjected to public character study.

        The strata I refer to would fuel up on p for dutch courage for a purposeful home invasion.

        I don’t like excess plastic. But the risk is that dumb people think that this measure will solve the problem. Examples. Yesterday I bought two sandwiches. In thick clam shell plastic. I had a small computer component delivered. Packed in thick plastic that required a knife to open. All packed inside bubble wrap inside a cardboard box. Fucking nuts.

Their collective consciences are now all clear because they visit the supermarket with their jute bags. And happily wander the aisles of the supermarket. Surrounded by products contained in plastic.   I listened to the news.
  As far as I could tell vaping is going to be banned in the same places as cigarette smoking, for example restaurants, malls etc
  I hardly ever see anyone vaping in our neck of the woods and never where cigarettes are not allowed. Personally I’d be pretty annoyed if someone on the next table was emitting great clouds of smoke all over the place and I doubt if I’d be on my own.

The plastic bag ban is bullshit, when milk is sold by the millions in such containers. I personally like milk in cardboard, but it is not priced for the less well off, so plastic reigns there. I refuse to use those supermarket ‘bag lady’ containers. I notice that we don’t buy ‘impulse’ items any more, probably because of the hassle of packing them.

        Ask Ardern the liar to call the election and then we’ll see what has been developed. I thought I saw you referring to your gun club, apologies if I’m wrong but if so, why would you fire your rounds before you got to the hunting ground?
        
        The major difference was that labour had 9 years to sort their shit out. They didn’t but went into an election campaign with uncosted promises and feel good appeals to the simpler minded among us. That got them 37%. The greens always have their simpllistic voters how don’t even look at policy and winston gained 7% by promising to abolish maori seats and cut immigration to 10,000. Neither of those policies were doable and he didn’t even try to get them through in the “secret” agreement. The election was a fraud but we still have a majority of people getting the bulk of their income from the state so National, the party of achievers will always struggle to get much over 50%.
        
        Get ardern the liar to call an election and let’s see who has the policies.

      That’s a minor cop-out, Tall Man (if I may be allowed to say so). National should not be concentrating on the National faithful who may occasionally read its website. It has to get targeted, vote-changing messages through to those whose votes installed Peters’ COL in late 2017.
      
      It’s for Simon Bridges and his senior spokespeople to capture the political attention and interest of non-National voters. To induce them to think about issues and policies in a manner that is different from that used by our pervasive left-leaning media.
      
      So far, Bridges has not shown the analytical, strategic and leadership skills to achieve those necessary objectives. Nice guy, Bridges, but with a lack of personal cut-through to the masses.

        I don’t agree and it’s not election year so why announce anything. There are 2 more years of this coalition and a good policy should be formulated in response to current actions. Those actions are still progressing and so is the policy.
        
        You may not like Simon Bridges but consider this, how much airtime has he had without a negative presenter doing their best to undermine him rather than interview him. Yet he has endured that and is still considered a nice guy.
        
        If the media had performed in an identical manner with ardern the liar would many in NZ feel the way they do?

        Agree or disagree but Simon Bridges is appearing more like a leader as time goes by.
        
        As a previous commenter has stated, National probably won’t win the election, the coalition will lose it.
        
        Policy will not cut the mustard for approx 37% of the voters, we saw that last year, but a small number of those will leave when they realise that path that Ardern the liar is taking and a few of the disaffected greens will avoid making a decision so will not vote.
        
        The Maori Party will gain some ground back at the expense of labour and will naturally distrust Ardern and the rest of the party based on the non event the 3 years of labour will be.
        
        Many NZ first will swing back to National refusing to buy into winston’s lies yet again.
        
        That’s my opinion or hope but it seems a likely scenario, especially when D Handley speaks, and he will and the Sroubek case report gets released.
        
        Eventually the “coalition agreement” will be leaked and Ardern the liar will lose credibility permanently.

      It’s been my experience as a case manager who worked with clients with medical certificates, it’s easier to find 20 plus hrs work for a mentally disabled person who is eager to work, as opposed to fully able person who doesn’t want to work.

Gist of this piece is Nat MP Simon O’Connor (Simon Bridge’s brother in law) is considering having a tilt at Auckland’s Mayorality, this being taken as an indication from Simon O’C that he does not expect the Nats to win in 2020. Normally I would have expected Whaleoil to have applauded any move for a Nat MP to have a tilt at the Auckland Mayoralty rather than cast it in the light that the MP is considering jumping ship because he has no confidence in a 2020 Nat victory.
  As with Brian Henry, the cases involving Cam and Winston are quite separate. If there was a potential conflict, Brian would have declined to represent Winston in the superannuation leak matter. Brian was AFAIK engaged by Cam for the ‘health professionals’ case well before the superannuation matter arose. As for the ‘health professionals’ case whether Whaleoil received payments for running the items critical of the ‘health professionals’ is probably a key matter since this would undermine defences to the alleged defamations.

    As long as assets are held by another family member or a trust they are generally safe. If someone gets rid of assets within two and five year ‘bright lines’ they can be regarded as still belonging to that person. So you cannot get of assets then defame someone soon after. Similarly the trust needs to be properly run to avoid it being busted.
    Also just make sure any expected bequests are paid ‘in trust’ so the Official Assignee cannot grab them.
    So it may not matter too much if a high risk blogger is bankrupted. Also AFAIK bankrupts do not have freedom of expression limited.

  I’m not sure how reliable these online questionnaires are (one of them put me as a NZF supporter before the last election!) but I found this one sat well with me and the explanatory blurb is really spot on.

Twitford says a new bill will allow the govt to compulsorily “acquire” privately owned land.

The HUDA will have broad powers, including being able to ignore existing council designations, amend or write its own by-laws and grant its own resource consent, and councils will have no veto power.

“It’s going to be a tooled-up agency that can cut through the red tape.”

The HUDA will also have the power of forced acquisition, were private land owners can be can be forced to sell to make way for a development, though the minister says the powers are just “in the back pocket”.

“I don’t think it’s likely at all that someone’s private property or their house will be acquired for one of these projects.

  I know that it’s not PC to address the outstanding issue of Maori political privilege in this country, but I would like to remind National of the stunningly positive effect that Don Brash’s “Orewa speech” had on National’s ratings.     Bettering aboriginals lives won’t ever happen until aboriginals live in bigger towns, as Australia is a barren continent and services cannot be provided on a practical level.
    
    Flying doctors dispensing medicines and vaccines while doing yearly check ups on aboriginals in remote places in the 1960’s is far different to providing round the clock mental healthcare to alcoholics, drug addicts, the mentally ill, violent offenders including rapists, and other dysfunctional aboriginals is simply not practical. Webcams with the best health professionals in Sydney can’t even solve these health issues. And you can’t move 50 professional and 100 other people into a town just to service 300-400.
