  Yesterday the Prime Minister and Shane Jones took the Provincial Growth Fund gravy train to the West Coast, where they announced $140 million in taxpayer-funded handouts – including money for luxury spa facilities, a mining venture, a dairy business, and a premium train carriage for ‘high net-worth’ tourists.
  Once again Labour is looking after its friends. What Ayn Rand called “Looters” in her book Atlas Shrgged.
  It’s all been done before and it failed.
  In 1972/73, Kevin Meates, a Christchurch businessman and friend of then Labour Prime Minister Norman Kirk, established Matai Industries as a regional development initiative, believing that the government would provide subsidies and other support for the project. Two directors were appointed by the Government and one by the Opposition, the Opposition nominee being National MP Robert Muldoon. In November 1973 Matai Industries opened four factories on the West Coast producing woodware, metalware and plastics in Rūnanga, Greymouth Reefton and Westport. The Rūnanga Miners’ Hall was one venue given a new lease of life; interestingly Greymouth’s Regent Theatre and Reefton’s Criterion Theatre were other Matai Industries conversions.
  However, following a dispute about the actual nature of any government support, Matai Industries was placed into receivership in 1975.

      Ayn Rand, born Alisa Zinovyevna Rosenbaum, mentally was totally unzipped. If she had stayed in Russia she could have become a leading Marxist theorist, steering the Soviets into a Red form of Scientology.

The motive the police concocted for the Lundy murders is absolute nonsense.

It was Christine who convinced Mark that to get the rootstock supplier/business partner’s invoices was okay and most of the GST went to help with this vendor and the operation generally. The land from 2 vendors was well priced, it was sold later for much more. 2000 was a great time to establish a vineyard in New Zealand, and accordingly the prospectus for investors was a thoroughly responsible document, but there is nothing unusual for people to hesitate, and they missed an opportunity. Most people prefer to control their own investments, and will hesitate where a sink salesman is driving it. Fair enough. Given the land was worth more at the time of the murders than the unconditional contracts represented, and Mark knew this, he had no reason to embark on the dumbest criminal act in New Zealand history (had he in fact been the murderer). And he went unconditional on the land against his better judgement because his lawyer was in rehab in Hanmer Springs, out of contact, with the rootstock supplier/ business partner pressuring him.

Then as has been pointed out, 40 is the time the thugs are tired of the mayhem and hopelessness of violence and failure, this is not the time a small business man will embark on this path particularly with no motive whatsoever.

He didn’t

What did happen is the rootstock supplier/business partner owed a lot of money, 700k when bankrupted later. Note above Christine gave him most of the GST, 60k, she received on the invoice basis from the IRD. Why did he need it and what did he do with it? These are the questions the police should have asked, and should still be asking. Is there not one curious cop out there who can see through this Lundy charade? New Zealand deserves such a brave man in our midst, a man prepared to speak out and do some sensible investigating.

  JJ, perhaps the bench dwellers were stunned that one of their own was affected, given they usually escape involvement. The real change however comes from parliament, and with 120 MPs statistically they or their families will not escape crime. As we have seen in the UK example, MPs are a gutless lot who are so easily silenced when Muslims threaten death or violence.

  That would be highly improper and the DCJ would be most careful to not being influenced by the victim’s position and the victim would accept this too. However ‘the hammer would come down’ if the offence had something to do with the judge’s official duties.
  He was charged under s189(2) of Crimes Act, maximum 5 years jail but no ‘strike’ (because presumably there was no intent to cause the injuries, just reckless disregard). I would have thought that 6 months home detention would have been a more appropriate penalty. He is effectively banned from some overseas travel eg Australia or Canada.

According to the American media the Mueller investigation is in it’s final stages now they have written answers from the president.
Who believes that Mueller will find anything? Does anyone still believe that Trump is a manchurian candidate, a traitor to his country, that used Russian interference to swing the election away from Hillary Clinton?

CNN and other mainstream media will look pretty silly when they find no collusion after covering nothing else but Russia for 2 years.
I would like to say they will be embarrassed. But actually they don’t care about being truthful or accurate.
The only thing they care about is bringing down the duly elected president of the United States and making the world safe for liberal Democrats.

Phil Twyford, in housing and transport infrastructure, and Shane Jones, in forestry, have both issued such a plethora of statements and claims and named so many various agencies, that no one can really follow now what they are doing and ascertain any level of progress or success.

It may seem as simple as Shane Jones saying –
“This year we exceeded the planting goal, with over 60 million trees planted”

But forestry, “pre-Shane”, used to annually replant about 50 million trees.
Is Shane counting those in his total?
So 60 million less the usual “private” 50 million means Shane may have only planted about 10 million at the most?

Just as Phil Twyford is buying into developments that are not of Kiwibuild origin, is Shane Jones counting every new tree he sees as one of his own?

60 million trees extra should take up about 600 square kilometres – roughly cleared before planting.

48,000 hectares of forest planting is estimated for 2016, an increase of 3,052 hectares from 2015 plantings, and 2,658 hectares above the harvested area in the year to March 2016

On the above figures, while 48,000 hectares were planted for 2016, they apparently whacked down 45,342 hectares.

So if Shane insists on stealing “private” numbers, he can surely take only about 3,000 hectares or roughly 3 million “private” trees.
And “re-plants” is the operative word (or words) – forestry re-plants just a few percent more than they chop down.

Would Shane be better as Minister of Immigration, where you seemingly need not be bothered by the facts?

Like, “Planting 100 million trees per year in a Billion Trees Planting Programme” – Coalition agreement between the New Zealand Labour Party & New Zealand First Party

Management costs will skyrocket as supervision increases and paperwork and time – to performance manage, train, retrain, reretrain, fire, hire – goes through the roof.

    Another $120m is being committed to research initiatives that help reduce the barriers to tree planting.
    
    It will be interesting to see what initiatives are found “in how to do something” that will cost more than what is spent “in actually doing it”.

      Regardless of views on native trees, they are too slow growing to be worth planting for harvesting value.
      
      Pinus radiata timber is pretty much for the bottom of the market.
      
      Foresters are, or were, however, growing eucalyptus in Southland for chipping and use in high-grade papers.
      
      There must be lots of other tree types around the world that entrepreneurial folk could grow in NZ for higher returns than from radiata pine, which largely is exported in logs, with no value added. When milled in Asia, the timber mainly goes into low-value products such as crates for export goods.
      
      After planting, Melanesians will be brought back for pruning, then not too much later brought back permanently to provide cheap labour for felling and any milling.
      
      Temporary labour schemes of the Melanesian-NZ type almost always turn into permanent settlement, as with Mexicans in California and Turks in Germany.
      
      On the face of it the Melanesian temporary worker scheme looks to be a worthwhile form of foreign aid, but beware of any scheme that comes from UN bureaucrats, as this one does. Those guys want to erode national borders, especially those of Western countries.

Has anyone read this article by this anonymous left-wing editorial writer.? The writer plays down the proven assault by Fightery but believes the allegation of an unhappy staffer. The reality is that all political parties have staffers doing party work. This could be just a disgruntled staffer making this claim.

Now that Wellington City Councils Mayor and his Conncillors have sadddled the Ratepayer with what is called as a living wage. Yes that was sometime ago yet services for some rate payers have taken a big hit, one Case in point. Out in the suburb of Tawa which once was a showpiece for top council services. Known as the Borough it was a great example for the then elected Councillors and local Mayor
Sadly since it was absorbed into Wellington City Council the services by the Council have become extremely tatty.
Must be something in the water . Tawa boasts of 6 reps voted in as a group known as the Community Board, plus 3 elected Councillors as well as a Deputy Maori Mayor. All paid very well by the long suffering ratepayer.
Yet for some reason or other no one seems to be in charge of at least cutting the grass or giving a directive to the new ratepayer funded pay scale .called a living wage.
Seems grass berms near Tawa College and the Ratepayer Car Park beside New World is daily left in a complete scruffy unkempt third world eyesore. Maybe it is time the overpaid fat cats from Wellington City Council got off their mean spirited arses and at least made an attempt to earn their money for doing some type of Tawa Ratepayer Service rather than forever getting paid for doing nothing.

As a former tax accountant Ive been trying to decipher Cullen the C…. (CC) comments about having found a way to introduce heritance or death duties.
The family home will be deemed to have been sold when it passes from Mum and Dad to the kids or whoever no matter the vehicle it is held in a Trust or Company.
Tax will be due at the entities rate.

In the case of Retirement Villages when the oldies snuff it the village operator will pay tax on the Licence to Occupy price increase.

Imagine the tax from just that source as the average LTO is 5 to 7 years. So the operators will recover the tax either upfront or load it onto the next LTO.

And forget Simon. The amount of tax will be so great and so easy to collect that no future government will repeal it.

From a tax point of view its a winner. it has all the elements. Relative certainty as demographers can tell the government how many people will die that the tax will impact. No downside as losses wont be allowed. Estimates on real estate prices will determine the likely tax haul each year and also longer term.

  Death duties can be expected to be levied on a retirement village unit every several years, when the occupants pass on. What a wonderful money-maker for the State.

    Death duties, or estate duties, are an efficient and effective method of tax collection from the State’s point of view.
    
    With a once-only collect, and typically inheritors of the residue of the estate keen to get their share and unlikely to fight too hard, death duties are cheap to administer compared with income tax and GST.
    
    Ideally you could abolish income tax and just rely on death duties. They are hard on family businesses, such as farms, but that could be overcome by giving the estate a year or two to settle the bill.
    
    The retirement village units, presumably those in NZ, as mentioned by Odakyu-sen, usually are not owned by the people who go into them. The occupants buy a right to occupy, and the cost of buying the right, less a discount, is returned (presumably usually to the children) when the unit is vacated.
    
    The retirement village firms’ customers effectively lend the capital, interest free, to buy the land and build the village, and all capital gain from the value of the village, goes to the firms. Usually these are on big, attractive sites that are bound to become more valuable.
    
    I bet retirement village developers and owners would back any campaign against capital gains tax, which would fall on them.
    
    It’s the total tax take that counts.

    All the novice taxes.
    We have had them all before. They have been systematically removed by many past governments.
    We finally got a practical system now and the commies want to wreck it. It has the flexibility to adapt as needed.
    
    What we have is good. PAYE, GST, witholding taxes and excise duties provide a large part of the revenue. They are inescapable, cheap to collect and all provided out of immediate cash flows. Taxes on corporates are reasonable with shareholders getting credits. The IRD also watches carefully for company profits being sheltered.
    
    The negative income tax we have is reasonable too. It, WFF, replaces the former tax rebates for dependents and the Family Benefit. Everyone is taxed on personal income the same and a two weekly rebate is paid by IRD or its agency like a negative PAYE to allow for different family obligations. It is not to subsidise employers. This has eased PAYE administration and taken a burden off employers. It has its own phased abatement scheme to avoid sudden cuttoff.
    
    Accommodation supplement is more political than a tax matter. It is paid by the tax agency as a subsidy–they are largely dealing with the same population. This subsidy is intended to deal with the injustice of people who are in work and on lower incomes not having the special lower rents of those in social provided housing whose income is similar. An abatement scheme operates too.
    
    The changes being targeted seem to be principally envy motivated by a COLL determined, without mandate, to bring about state ownership and control in NZ.

    Explain how my reasoning is faulty. Governments van introduce Deemed Sales even when there isn’t one. Think the current FDR on foreign shares.
    
    No cash dividend yet that doesn’t stop government collecting a tax.
    
    And to answer others Yes it will result in the home being sold in order to pay the tax and that’s part of the beauty of CC proposal. It will result in family homes having to be sold by the estates beneficiaries therefore freeing up more houses for sale.
    
    Note I am an absolute opponent of CGT having worked in regimes where it operates and seen the perverse outcomes and avoidance and even evasion.
    
    CGT is a distortion of the market place and will result in bad outcomes for hard working taxpayers.
    
    But CC wants to transfer wealth and this is a good way to do it across a generation. Baby Boomers estates will be taxed on the family home the bach and every other asset EXCEPT collectibles which the TWG as rules out as too hard.
    
    So get into art jewelry classic cars as these wont be taxed when past on to your heirs. Everything else will be taxed.
    
    And no losses allowed. CC has already ruled on losses being claimed. This is a one way tax CC’s way.

  It has no certainty of collection: there is no cash asset. In many cases that will cause the house to be sold. Not everyone can or should borrow the amount required.
  
  Also, what about inflation? That varies year to year and between markets. The CPI is not relevant. The inflation in house prices is not the same throughout NZ either. The effect of a forced sale will be to rob a family of cash that has may have to replace accommodation in the current market and quickly. No equitable CGT is possible. Feelingz.

So when is the coalition going to come clean regarding its intentions towards the UN Compact on Migration which opens for signature on 10 December? This globalist tool abolishes the concept of illegal migration and commits governments to provide anyone who breaches their borders with virtually all the benefits of citizenship.       Chris Lynch and Bruce Russell have mentioned the Migration Compact on air several times. Bruce has covered the Compact extensively, but sadly late at night to a select group of informed contributors to his show. Bruce is of the opinion that it is a done deal. He is horrified.
      
      I would strongly encourage those of you who take this issue seriously to respectfully approach, in person, where possible, your elected MPs for clarification.
      
      Also get on the phones to talkback and hammer the issue.

Hanukkah is upon us. So to all non haters of my Jewish friends, “Happy Hanukkah.”

And with that said, for the benefit of the few pro-Muslims and anti-Jewish folk here, a story about a grizzled elderly central-European Jew.

It seems that he spent a large sum each week to purchase a copy of the most virulent anti- Jewish publication available.

As he read, while sitting on the front steps to his house, he frequently muttered: “Wow, gosh, really, marvellous, wonderful” and the like. Puzzled, his friends asked: “Why do you spend so much to buy and read that rubbish?”

Well, he replied: “If I didn’t read it I would never know how powerful I am.”

So, I missed the news last night (was working so I don’t know if it was mentioned) but on NewsTalkZB this morning they were talking about the new reduction in GP fees to those “less well off” with community service cards, but that the doctors would make it up by charging everyone else more? Those that they consider could afford it. Isn’t this blatant Socialism? – ps, this wasn’t an opinion piece. This was the news headlines.

  “Labour’s GP policy has been a mess from the start. It was rushed out in response to National’s pledge, meant to be rolled out by July and meant to make GP visits cheaper.
  
  “But for the hundreds of thousands of New Zealanders who don’t have a Community Services Card, doctors’ visits could actually be more expensive from tomorrow. This is in marked contrast to the promise made during the election campaign that all New Zealanders would see a reduction in GP fees.
  
  “That’s because the government funding for doctors’ visits for adults with a Community Services Card is capped at well below the cost to some practices of these visits. So to make up for the shortfall, these practices have been told by the Government that they should increase the consultation fee for patients without a Community Services card.
  
  “It is unacceptable that middle New Zealanders, who are already struggling as a result of this Government’s poor policies which are driving up the cost of living, will be subsidising the Government’s botched GP policy.
  
  “The rollout of this policy has been questionable at best. GPs were forced to opt in or out of the provision of the cheaper visits with little time to think through the consequences and impact on their practices and patients and whether or not they could cope financially. If practices decided not to opt in they would lose all funding for the free under-13 GP visits.
  
  “A number of GPs are now worried about their ability to perform a duty of care to their patients due to the fact that they have no idea how this policy will increase their patient numbers.
  
  “The Minister needs to assure New Zealanders that those without Community Services Cards will not be paying more to subsidise the policy and that practices will not be facing an unfair burden.”

    Currently I pay eighteen dollars at the 3 King’s A &E Clinic, which is fine with me.

        It is a point of Grammar in English that Subject Nouns and their verbs show agreement in NUMBER.
        
        So a singular noun has the verb in the singular form, and plural nouns in the plural verb form.
        
        Your sentence should have read:

My daughter has been flatting for a few years while she is at Uni
All good relations with the landlord, all inspections big thumbs up etc.
BUT…
The landlord wants to add an en-suite, the tenants are being kicked out for a few weeks, so far not great but they can cope with a little give and take… however the kicker is she DEMANDS they continue to pay rent or she will kick them out permanently.

I find this sort of shit to be outrageous and an obscene abuse of natural justice.

If the landlord gets away with this then I am a supporter of a law review that would allow such bullshit.

  Sounds so strange there may be more to this story. Common enough in some locations esp Dunedin for rent to continue over the long vacation to retain a tenancy even while tenants are away. But being told to move out and pay rent is a whole different thing.
  
  Tenants might be completely in the right, but the landlord is the person who decides whether to renew or continue a tenancy. Might be cheaper to pay the rent.
  
  Landlords can ask for what they like, but if it involves a change to the tenancy agreement both parties have to agree.
  
  Suggest the tenants check the Tenancy Tribunal database to see if the landlord is recorded there, and if so for what. Might be a pattern.
  
  Tenants should make sure they get everything in writing to / from the landlord in preparation for as application to the Tenancy Tribunal. May not be needed but best to be prepared. One big advantage for tenants is that if they go to the TT and landlord then gives notice to them they can ask the TT to declare the notice retaliatory and set it aside. They don’t actually have to make a TT application but it is the simplest route, and cheap.

Also National better bloody come out against the UN Global Compact. Why is that even debatable? An athlete who pushed himself to the limits on extreme runs went too far with a sex worker, ignoring the safe words they had set. They agreed that “red” meant “stop straight away” and “yellow” meant “I need a break”, after he had lightly squeezed her throat for the first time.

The code Marcelo Luis Vanzuita, 47, and the woman agreed had worked until August 17, 2017. In text messages leading up to their meeting that day, she had talked about being punished, and discipline in a sexual context was part of her work previously.

But Vanzuita grabbed her by the throat with both hands, held her against a wardrobe and she felt dizzy and short of breath, Judge Peter Hobbs said in the Wellington District Court on Friday.

She said “red”, and told him to stop, but Vanzuita continued, holding a hand around her throat and applying pressure periodically while he had sex with her…..

The victim, 28, said in court that the incident had left her feeling anxious and had given her vivid nightmares.

A probation officer’s report noted that Vanzuita had a sense of ‘entitlement’.

Judge Hobbs also noted that the boundaries had not been respected.

‘The application of the force to the victim’s throat occurred in circumstances that were indecent,’ he noted.

Marcelo Vanzuita is known for competing in high-endurance sports competitions such as the 700km Ultra Yukon race in sub zero conditions.

So I’ve had a little more in depth look at the migration compact. This is a longer post. Bear with me.

How Labour voters who were anti immigration could support this is beyond me. And NZ First voters?! Why National are not using an opportunity to take swing votes is beyond me. You don’t even have to deal with the migrant issue? How about pure national sovereignty? The potential for Iwi/kiwi dichotomies is immense. Winston and our idiot PM said many things on immigration. Why are National not exploiting it? Go around the media until they have to report on it.

Clause 11 says, paraphrasing ‘because illegal immigration is going to happen anyway we need to facilitate it’. As Stefan Molyneux points out, that logic only applies to illegal immigration. Not guns for example. Or free speech. Or free enterprise. Or sex trafficking. Imagine applying that logic to rape. Rapes are going to happen anyway so we need to facilitate rape and cooperate with rapists at the points of departure, transit, and settlement.

Clause 12 says ‘countries are being transformed forever’ as if it has nothing to do with deliberate policy decisions. It’s just a fait accompli a priori.

Cl 13 “migration should never be an act of desperation” – why? It should be ‘consensual’ lol. They do that Jordan Peterson Crowleyian redefining of words. Its consensual if coerced.

Cl 14: allows for national sovereignty before the total carve outs.

CL 15: the Compact is an anti discrimination Trojan Horse. “We reaffirm the commitment to oppose all forms if discrimination against migrants”- If you oppose anything migrants want like genital mutilation etc that’s an offence at international law.

There are 23 objectives which are a total wishlist. They simply dissolve any difference between citizen and illegal alien. Just a few examples “facilitate mutual recognition of skills” – because the University of Swahili is the same as Otago. “Provide full access to services” – why? They are a privilege of citizenship. “Establish procedures for the portability of social security and other earned benefits” – right. So national super should just be a voucher the wielder ia entitled to instantly and from anywhere, including back home in Mumbai! And its totally equal you know. Any white person is fully entitled to portability of their Pakistani benefits in New Zealand.

“Ensure all migrants have total legal support and individualised due process” – the compact actually bans collective actions. See, in every single other facet of life the globalist SJW promotes group identity. But not here. Here, everyone is an individual entitled to tax payer funded legal deliberations. And the compact would set up a while set of new bureaucracies to defend illegal aliens from any form of legal redress.

Objective 8 bans govts from preventing ‘humanitarian assistance’. So if Soros wants to fund the Indragheta to ship in millions of Africans to Sicily he can do that with impunity. A govt cannot prevent NGOs ‘helping’ and is prohibited from ‘collective actions’. Obj 17 eliminates discrimination ‘against migrants’. There is no provision for discrimination that goes the other way.

It says migrants have to be given tax payer dollars to collectively punish ‘incitements to violence’ defined as infringements on their right to do whatever they like. Ah, that looks familiar. The NSW law criminalised speech using exactly the same tacit language. I wonder who will benefit from this little ? criticism of migrants will become a hate crime equivalent to violent physical assault.

Objective 17 c is the worst one. It says states must re-educate media to be pro migration, and ban all forms of media which are ‘xenophobic or discriminatory, including internet based media’…

If Labour fuck everyone with this it will be a total betrayal of their election platform.

I mean look at it. Look at the state of this document. New Zealanders will recoil from this.

Internationally I don’t see how this can be resolved without violence. Trump needs to get back control of the CIA and start arranging plane crashes and nuclear plant accidents for the authors and supporters of this evil. Because this is pure unadulterated neo-babelism. This is Rotherham on steroids. We have to start sinking the boats. This is a recipe for the end of the world.

  I am not anti immigration, but are strongly against this. All countries have a right to chose who lives there and are answerable to no one for those choices.
  
  Once a person is allowed into a country – then yeah – equal rights for all. And I mean equal, not “special” rights for selected groups.
  
  Of course this sort of common sense approach will never work in 2018 and I expect NZ will be signed up to this and the media will celebrate Ardern for doing it.
