If you did not catch up with the TDS coverage of the Bush 41 funeral yesterday, the following (link to) crap sums up the sickening WP/NYT/CNN/MSNBC attempt at “fair and balanced” reporting ……
I say that because I watched the entire event live, and then when I read the crap in both the NZ Herald and Shit (pardon, Stuff), i almost threw up.
The Washington Post purported to know what Trump was thinking and saying by his actions at very moment of the service. There was no mention of the earlier private meeting between Bush 43e, Jeb and their wives, and DJT and Melania. Nor was there mention of the extra courtesies extended to the Bush family at the direction of DJT. And then the WA Post lie that “lock her up” and slick Billie, ignored the Trumps. It is true that DJT ignored Hillary ( ns V V ), but “lockherup” did glance toward and nod at Melania.
Sick, but read for your self ….

  It is amazing that our mainstream media even with its straight reporting cannot stop themselves from massive ideological bias and identifying who they like and who they don’t like. In the at least 4 but probably 8 years of the Trump presidency, Donald Trump will never do anything right in the eyes of our media.
  
  Contrast that with the previous president, who in the eyes of our media never did anything wrong! Imagine that, in 8 years our media could find nothing to criticise about President Obama.
  
  The sad fact is that Trump is doing well, even though you would never know it by reading our media’s coverage of him. The American economy is booming, the North Korean situation has calmed down considerably, Isis has been largely defeated and the American energy sector is also booming.
  
  While here at home our media love our Prime Minister and cannot fawn enough over her. Our prime minister has unilaterally axed the energy sector, annoyed Australia by demanding to take some of their refugees, spends huge amounts of money on first-year university students who don’t need it and is constantly looking for ways to put more taxes on the already overburdened Kiwi taxpayer.
  
  Our Prime Minister has no clue. The American president is doing well. But you would never know this by reading New Zealand newspapers, listening to New Zealand radio and watching New Zealand TV.

  The thing would have been ‘protocoled’ to … if you’ll forgive the expression … death.
  
  The Presidents (out of office) would have had to arrive separately and in rank, from oldest to newest.
  
  They’d have to be seated accordingly.
  
  The current President (and remember his Vice President was there too) would have to have been the last to arrive … and, from a Security Service point of view, would have to have been the first whisked away to relative safety from a gathering that looked like a terrorist’s wet dream.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has the right idea “What we want is more learning in schools and less activism in schools.”

Teachers need to to be telling the truth to schoolkids -how the world works and functions, about natural climate cycles. We’re currently in a period that’s turned from warming to cooling and and that global temperatures will continue to decline for some time.
Plants need more Co2, not less.

Question for our more experienced (I don’t want to say ‘older’) Political observers-

Have we ever had such a disengaged Prime Minister before?
What was the stat that came out yesterday? She hasn’t shown up for work for something like 16 of the last 35 days??

Look I’m aware that the PM has other responsibilities- But it seems Ardern deliberately avoids getting her hands dirty in Parliament and just does the ‘fluff’ stuff (Woman’s Day photoshoots/Visits to Schools etc)
To be honest I’m not sure whether she is being deliberately hidden by Labour or she simply thinks she is too good for ‘day to day’ business in the House- Either way I think NZ deserves better for their $500k!
Have we ever had a Part-Time Prime Minister before in New Zealand History??

  After her first term in Parliament, her rise through the ranks of the parliamentary labour party & despite the media waxing lyrically about her, she was recognized as the laziest member of the parliamentary labour party.

    My ex wife and great friend recently died of cancer. It took six years and she was just 41 when she died. I know how bad it is but bludgers in my opinion have it too easy.
    Maybe if my wife didn’t have to work such long hours to pay the mortgage and so much tax. Maybe if the bludgers paid their fair share; my wife wouldn’t have been so stressed and maybe not got sick in the first place.

Tamaki says that not allowing his programmes to be used in prisons is a breach of human rights and a breach of the Treaty of Waitangi. He insists he has applied to have them be used.

Tamaki would not tell lies would he?

But rather in any submission to the Waitangi Tribunal for redress, he will surely have documented any application to Government showing what he would present, to whom he made his submission, and communications of any rejection and reasons for that.
That should be easy enough to show media, to prove his point, shouldn’t it?

  I don’t agree with Brian Tamaki using the race card and the Treaty of Waitangi to get funding for his man up program. However Brian Tamaki is one of the few people who can reach gang members and help them through a Christian based program to turn their lives around. He is doing massive amounts of good work and Christian charity in South Auckland.
  
  Unfortunately he strikes a massive amount of hubris from our mainstream media and our left-wing secular government. However I think that fair-minded New Zealanders would agree that if he is doing good with a very hard to reach group of people, then he should be given all due consideration when it comes to government funding.
  
  I think we would agree that it is not work that many of us would like to do. His ability to positively impact the gang members should be commended in my opinion.

      God is not real but people’s belief in God is real. Prisoners are not rocket scientists and there are plenty of people who only avoid bad behaviour because they think God is watching.
      
      These programmes should be judged on results. I have no idea whether Tamaki’s approach will work, but as long as we are spending money to try to reduce recidivism, he should not be excluded just because we don’t like his moral and religious views.

    It said it met with the church to discuss the programme last year and asked for a proposal in writing but never received one.

      Call me cynical, I find it challenging to believe that the Mongrel Mob are about to revoke violence and intimidation from their charter.
      The Mob is the largest most violent ethnic gang in New Zealand and have a long history of rape and murder. They are recently emerging as the kingpins of the methamphetamine sale and distribution and are interlinked with other criminal groups.
      By using Tamaki’s man up programme they are attempting to legitamise their activities and secure public funding to further their criminal enterprise.

Hosking this morning downplayed people concerned about the UN migration agreement and said there was a ‘more realistic’ view.

He obviously needs to understand what is happening in Europe (e.g. in Germany) with men pretending to be ‘minors’ and ‘refugees’ and wandering in without papers. These men were not checked for their age medically, but from pictures and behaviour they are clearly adults. It also became clear that they are on economic migration for the generous German welfare system. They simply strode into Germany and helped themselves to ‘infidel’ girls and women they thought exist for their availability.

This law would prevent me from even writing this fact: islamists do not respect the concept of male/female equal rights.

And CoL actually want such misogynists in our country!

  Yes, awful things have happened in Germany after Germany opened its borders and let anybody who wanted, in, without any check or consideration as to whether they were really a refugee or deserving of assistance.
  
  However, New Zealand has not done that. Nobody is suggesting that New Zealand should do that. The UN compact will not oblige New Zealand to do that.
  
  There are good arguments against joining the UN agreement, but adding hysterical misinformation into the discussion doesn’t help them.

The question is if signing up to it was healthy and was not a problem and a good idea why has it not gotten the coverage which surely as voting citizens in NZ we deserve. Am hearing from my weekly report from Wellington that a serious number of male senior Coalition Ministers are losing favour with their part time Prime Minister.
Several, in the last few days, are openly getting tired of being contradicted (told off publically) by her when she condescends to turn up in Wellington and is not either working from home or at a kindergarten.
Having looked at a list of the senior Ministers I find that I can see disdain from them quite obviously more so recently and and contemptuously.
I understand that she is treating her own Ministers like recalcitrant and naughty schoolboys and they are beginning not to like it. There is only so much that they will support. Robertson is quiet currently but it is believed he is continuing his ways – even with the Princess, now that her polls a beginning to slip.
Some like those in the Peters Party are openly and obviously publically contemptuous of her – see Shane Jones. Am not sure that Peters is not likewise but he only partly shows it in Parliament.
Because she is a mummy is no excuse for the low bullying treatment she is giving them.
A touch of Clark but handled badly.
She will have to learn to treat her own Ministers with more respect or they will turn.
There are already grumblings.

  Weinstein makes (obliquely) a reasonable point. If scientific and technological discoveries hadn’t come from the west, they would have eventually (though likely not until centuries later) come from elsewhere. Chinese came up with a lot of tech and science advances and were more technologically advanced than the west until the middle ages, their mandarin system was meritocratic and bought out much of the best in their population. There were (and are) more geniuses outside of the western world than within it.

    Tell me – how can it be that in a warm CO2 enhanced glasshouse environments plants grow fast and furious but if the planet warms and has more CO2 there will be food shortages because plants can’t cope.
    
    Tell me – how warm water suspends less gas but if there is more CO2 and a warmer planet the extra CO2 will make the oceans acidic.

        I’ve urgently contacted my uncle who has 5 very large glass houses (he’s had them for 20 years ) and told him he has it all wrong. That the massive crops he grows by increasing the temperature and artificially increased CO2 levels ( which he has an expensive system for ) are holding back his crop production. I wonder what he’ll say when I tell him he’s had it all wrong for so long !

  It is a moving and sombre experience.

        I hope your uncle and Aunty Mikeno had a happy life together. My father served in Egypt/Libya/Tunisia/Palestine/ Italy etc. and was part of the retreat across Crete.
        One of his mates hooked up with an Italian lady who followed him back to NZ and they had four kids together before they both passed away in the last 20 years or so.

  Most people say it’s going to happen and probably bigger because the banks were bailed out last time. It’s just a matter of whether it’s this year, 2019 or 2020. Diversify your holdings – don’t hold everything in one bank and keep some cash to one side (look at how things panned out in Greece a few years back). If you’ve got a bit spare, holding some gold or silver wouldn’t hurt either. I personally hold some crypto too but am obviously not giving financial advice. My prediction is that BTC will drop to $2K US next year before going up again.

Here is why people don’t use buses…My son was at bayfair mall in tauranga, planning to get a bus back home to the mount.

They are redeveloping the mall, and the old busstop has been demolished since June this year. So, he walks around a bit looking for where it has been moved but cannot find it. So, calls me

I check online , and the bus service map still shows the buses as driving through the old bus stop. I see a link to intercity buses which mention they stop on the other side of the mall, i told my son to check and he says he does not see any buses stopping over there (they are not that frequent anyway).

So, I call the bus service phone line, and the woman on the other line tells me the buses still stop at the same place , next to the demolished bus stop. I explain to her, that it would be almost impossible for the buses to even drive through the modified construction area and she starts getting a bit agressive at me for not believing her. But, the website still says they go there, and there are no service notices under the service notices section so maybe I am wrong?

I tell my son to go and wait where the busstop used to be… he does so for a while and says the buses are just driving past down the main road and not coming to where the bus lady said they would.

So, I phone again , and someone else answers, puts me through to a manager who tells me they moved the bus stop to another location in june, but they just didn’t update the website or bother to tell their phone staff!!! The bayfair bus stop is a mini hub too, you’d think the bus people would know where their bus stops are located!

  You would think that with the increased congestion and the increased population that bus patronage would be up!
  Maybe its because most people don’t want to use a bus (if they have a car)
  They also don’t want to use bikes and risk getting run over and battle in the wind and rain.

So what?

Everyone has to die. Therefore Maori death rates from all causes added up are exactly the same as Pakeha: 100%.

If more Maori die of heart problems (lifestyle choices?) then less are dying from some other cause for which Pakeha rates will be worse.

But no, expect a whole lot more spending on a “problem” that can’t be fixed.

    That reminds me, had some poms stay 4 nights in our holiday rental. The first time i have had any bad feedback in all these years was from these whinging bastards.
    They said our house was a “dumping ground for unwanted utensils”. I couldn’t believe what i was reading at the time but did know they weren’t brand new but well above average.
    I replied back to the site that these people were unsuited to other baches around NZ because they insisted on have cutlery etc for fine dining and probably would require a butler…..

    $1400 for a 40 hour week ain’t champ change plus overtime at 1.5 or 2 times that rate.
    Plenty of others don’t make that and many of the ones that do are just your average airport staff.

Its 9.14am on Saturday
Does this mean its going to be another GD free Saturday.
I wrote to DF a while ago about the varying start time for the GD and that it should be 8am.
Since then it has almost always been on at 8am.
I know its a free blog.
Bit it is annoying when you want to see what is happening or make a post and there is no GD.
As mentioned before it should really be at 6am, as many of us go to work early.
