Man I get off on watching Jacinda losing her shit in the Chamber when the Crown Prosecutor casually whacks her like a skeletal pinata. Labour are a transparent tribe all right; you can see their leader’s spoilt princess behaviour quite clearly. She takes it personally! I don’t think I’ve ever seen such behaviour in a politician.

Looking at her weirdo ‘Comrades!’ Youtube clip, and the one where she’s dressed in PVC, I’ve been trying to assess her mental pathology.

What do we know about Mormons? What do we know about ex-Mormons?

Maybe Jacinda just swapped a crazy, rigid, joyless ideology for another one.

  Saw her on TV last night where she was being interviewed by ‘no matter what we say, no matter what we do’ and, it was obvious that on the top lip in the bottom right hand corner, the red lippy had been applied over something.
  
  Now call me conspiracy theory Tim (Tim Apple) and it could have been a bit of odd scrambled egg left over from breakfast with the lippy on top, but I doubt it.
  
  It looked to me like a cold sore or the ilk and, in my experience, these little bastard sores are a result of considerible stress.

      Why does there need to be something extraordinary, she was always prone to stress, it is more of a job being PM than Jacinda has done as an opposition MP and she has got a baby as well, you would be stressed too.
      
      Empathy can take a toll and she is dealing with ‘her’ MP’s and must know that the day to day stuff is not going so well.
      
      How hard would it be for anyone to give up the role, when she knows that the party needs her even if the country doesn’t.

      Right RB it is the consequence of identity politics for any politician stuck on a masthead being captured in their true state by live coverage. Most will remember the sight of Hillary Clinton getting the wobbles made more conspicuous by the rush of burly security staff support. Many will also have noted from her last OQT appearance looking disproportionate that resulted from an unfortunate wardrobe choice. Not helped by avoiding any semblance of an answer with her characteristically long verbal responses that say nothing meaningful. The only “take away” for viewers was how little she knew or more importantly understood about the TWG report.
      That weak attempt of verbal cover up was exposed deftly by Simon Bridges quiet probing supported by the relevant page and paragraph from the report. Not helped by old Winston First’s questioning how National knew so much so quick after the report was released? Lol

    I wish. Mine seem to flare up whenever I’m a little run down, or the ol’ immune system is busy fighting something else some where (hence the name “cold sores”). When I was younger, they were more malicious – lurking until they knew I had a “hot” first date with someone. Bastards.

I have been watching the shine come off Justin Trudeau. Having worked with a few Canadians, it is obvious by my discussions with them that Trudeau has been better regarded overseas than at home, where many see him as an embarrassment. and that his inexperience is now come to the fore.

He was elected on a wave of popularity with little scrutiny, backed by a media that is openly biased against the right.

I see the same happening here.

If running an NGO puts Ardern in touch with small business I would like to know how she coped with steeply rising compliance costs? What were the risks to the business and who were the competitors? When wage costs went up by record amounts how did she remain competitive on the global market? How did she restructure the business and deal with the unions when there was 2 options restructure or close the business. How did she deal with having to increase revenue when a couple of her biggest customers signed deals elsewhere. How did she cut costs when it was a necessity for the business.
Yes, yes thats right being leader of the International Socialist Youth group is JUST like running a small business in NZ.
If Ardern ran a real small business that doesnt have the tax payer as the never ending revenue stream – that business would be tits up by lunchtime.

I am going to take the debate to them and say if you believe climate change is real and happening very soon, then what do you think should be done about it on a world scale.
Playing with tax credits is a joke.
I am sure that China and India both grow by more than 5 million people (NZ’s pop) a year.
They need to start a serious world population decrease.

    In Japan, the birthrate is falling and the average age is increasing. However, this phenomenon is not distributed evenly across the country.
    The population decline is felt most heavily in the rural regions. In the urban centers such as Osaka and Tokyo, it is business as usual.
    Go up into the hills or the rural coastal villages and you will find many abandonned houses. This is largely due to the tax system charging significantly more money against bare land than against a plot with a rotting building on it.
    
    In Japan, the government cannot so easily “replace” the native population with immigrants due to the uniqueness of Japanese language and culture. In New Zealand, where the language and culture is effectively identical to other nations in the Anglosphere, it is relatively easly to do so. Even populations from outside the Anglosphere can be grafted in, with liberal dosings of an “anti-racism” anesthetic to suppress any local reactions.
    
    So, even if young New Zealanders decide that the price of housing is so high that they can’t afford to have children, the government can bypass them by replacing them with immigrants who will. This is not a problem to a government that is willing to throw its native-born people and their shared culture and history under the bus.

  I know one thing, sending kiwi dollars overseas is going to do nothing towards helping kiwis deal with climate change. (It is after all inevitable sarc). We should be investing in making NZ a resilient as possible, as wealthy as possible, as independent as possible (for food and energy) and as healthy as possible. Preparing for the approaching solar minimum. That’s the sort of initiative we won’t be seeing from the government – thank our agricultural sector for responding to the real world.       They should be putting glasshouses on rubbish land not Pukekohe soils as when glasshouses are installed they strip all the top soil off and sell it. Very hard to ever convert back to cropping land. And less land available for cropping.

    If the NZ government is paying for these “credits,” then what proportion of NZ tax-payers are aware of this fact? What proportion of NZ tax-payers support such a payment.

    The decision of “who gets to breed” should never be left to the State; it should be left to the market. It is not a good idea to pay for the underclass to have more children.
    
    Reminds me of an old story about a Rabbi and a Preist having lunch together. The Priest commented that in his community, the brightest and most talented young men devoted their lives to the Church, forgoing fatherhood to instead be “fathers” in the community.
    The Rabbi replied that in his community, the most talented young men devoted their lives to the Church, and that the community found good women for them, with whom they could raise large families of bright children.

In view of our very high wages and the continued increase in them , how long do people think that Chinese people (on $4 an hour) will be able to buy our food.
While they sell us useful stuff like clothes, and tvs and phones.

    Scott, the USA was built on immigration. I don’t know the numbers but I’d guess that the ratio of immigrants per year to total US population is no different than it has been for decades, and probably lower than at times in the past. And at the time, some of these immigrants (e.g., Irish, Jews) weren’t held in high regard.

      Open immigration is fine in a country with no support services like benefits, healthcare and education to pay for. You make your own way, living or dying on your ability to make a life for yourself. The problem arises when you have a system that provides free stuff, and no population to support it as is happening in California. Rising social costs and a falling tax base as workers flee to lower tax states and arriving immigrants live off benefits. Life ain’t pretty for ordinary Californians who face rising crime and the degradation of their community – only the rich in their gated houses are fine with it. New Zealand would be no different if we chose to open our borders.

  The US still has a legal immigration limit of around 1 million. The Preference being for skilled workers.
  The problem is the 80,000 per month of unskilled and poorly educated (if at all) illegals crossing the border.
  Already there is a discussion about the effects AI will have on unskilled and semi skilled getting jobs.
  For example there are almost 4 million Truck Drivers. Put them out of work with Autonomous Trucks and you’ve got roughly 10 million people affected by it.
  And that’s just one segment of industry.
  The Democrats don’t care though. They just want power which means enabling illegals to vote.

Another broken promise from the CoL govt.
PM Ardern said “There’ll be no nationwide strikes on my watch”

So school kids are going on strike now.
But in all fairness, the kids are just taking their cue from their teachers who have signalled a nationwide strike on 3 April.

But I bet these kids don’t even know what they’re protesting about.
They’ve been brainwashed that the planet needs saving.

If the use of fossil fuels is so bad, how about the teachers educate the kids on the huge amount of damage done to the planet:
– in the manufacture of cell phones and ipads that every one of them has
– in the manufacture of cars and buses that the majority of them ride in to get to and from school
– even in the manufacture of cycles that a lot of them ride on to get to and from school

Instead of ‘protesting’ that the govt hasn’t managed to change the weather, how about the teachers educate these kids on things that can be achieved – changing their own lifestyles.

Then when the kids get home from school, they can educate their parents on the facts they were taught at school. They can tell their parents they’d sooner not have a cellphone and ipad and not travel to town in the car or bus and not go anywhere that involved an aeroplane.

When they protest about those implications in their own time, that’s when I will support the students……until then get back to class!

The students at the rural schools can also ask their teachers to debate the disrespectful ways the government is approaching agribusiness.

Pigs might fly.

Mark Taylor currently feels entitled to help, perhaps as a result of being assisted before when detained by Pakistani security forces on February 11, 2009, after trying to enter a tribal region on the Afghan border, identified as a Taliban and al Qaeda stronghold, without permission.

Was there no subsequent examination then to ascertain whether his mental situation contributed to that predicament or held implications for future activities, as has come to pass now?

A relative says when Taylor was about two-years-old “he had a major fit with teething and that created a bit of brain damage. He went through special school, but he was brought up as a normal child. The relative learned Taylor was in a Kurdish jail in Syria through the 6pm News. “What went through my head was… oh he’s alive, because we actually thought he was dead.”

So, apart from questions of basic citizen morals and likely criminal offending – joining a terrorist organisation and inciting violence – this man appears to also be mentally very unwell.

Which seems to be a problem for politicians – distinguishing when a situation may evolve from being, for example, an inquiry to find who is simply leaking some inconsequential information, to trying to establish who is displaying a high degree of mental ill-health, and needs help so much so as to be eventually removed by police to safety from railway tracks .

The attitude of politicians may be a concern of course in the up-coming remedying of the manifest inadequacies of New Zealand’s mental health services – where a little empathy and kindness may be helpful.

Meanwhile, if Mark Taylor becomes accessible, New Zealand to put him back where he belongs – most likely in protective custody.
Anything else is not a particularly good look, especially if you have gone all preachy at the the United Nations General Assembly and in front of the world.

    It just seems a bit perverse that Taylor’s current predicament is a matter of agreement between Ardern, Little, Peters and Bridges, and that none of them acknowledge that a similar position in Taylor being detained in February 2009, should have lead to an mental evaluation to prevent a reoccurrence.

        Masculine, feminine, neuter, plural are only the beginning. Then there are six cases for each of these. That’s 24 possibilities.
        
        Then there are types of adjectives: hard ending with stress at the beginning; hard ending with stress at the end; soft ending; mixed type 1; mixed type 2. The possibilities run now in total to over a hundred.
        
        Beyond that, many adjectives have alternative short forms, with gender.
        
        And Russian is a piece of cake compared with Hungarian, Finnish, and (I believe), Arabic.

        In fact, going one better you can imply intensity as well, e,g. ascending in intensity from the air being jasmine-tinged, through jasmine-scented and jasmine-fragranced to jasmine-laden.
        
        For me, some are self indicating
        fetid – marshes or bogs,
        rank – decaying grass
        rancid- off fat or milk
        Perfumed- flowers
        Musky- heavy male animal smell
        Musty- stale air/old books
        Reeking- smelly cloud, probably wood smoke
        Noisome- really nasty bog.
        
        They all can be qualified, but may not necessarily require it.

      What a bland world that would be. One of the things I like about the English language is the way that you can easily switch from a very basic form to the incredibly precise. That and the rich history that can be uncovered by looking into the meaning and origin of many words.
      
      I pity the American historian looking back and having to guess from context whether the written record of someone was that they wrote an order to pay money or a simple tick in an a box andvthings like that.
      
      Likewise, would a record of the Marchioness saying something to the Marquess imply a different type of potential conversation to a Marquess to Marquess one?
      
      Too many subtle definitions have been lost already. Many nowadays would only think of birds in flocks, and miss the humour of being able to class a single crow as attempted murder.

        On that I really cannot agree. I really can see no use at all from learning Latin. It isn’t as if Julius Caesar is going to drop in for afternoon tea is it?
        French is, at least for me very useful. My wife and I go there at least once a year.
        My accent is terrible but I can get by in the language. On the other hand I only learnt it as an adult. Like all those for whom the language is not my native one I often get the gender of words wrong. Native speakers never do. I think it is because they learn the gender at the same time as they learn the word. The gender is simply part of the word at the time you first learn it and you never forget.
        The one that really confused me is that the country is LA France but the language is LE francais.
        However it is still a beautiful language.

  It is an undeniable fact that their performance drags every one else’s stats down. I worked in a high school for many years and found that there was an attitude amongst polynesian males (both maori and pacifica) that they didn’t need to study because they were going to be highly paid rugby players. As we all know most of them wouldn’t be and would leave school with nothing to show for it. There is also an attitude amongst maori, less so amongst pacifica, that if you study hard and try to achieve you are being disloyal and “do you think you’re better than us”, they are masters at trying to bring others down.

    Not all chiefs are of equal rank and lesser ones cannot challenge higher ones. They know who they all are in their own society. Children of higher ranking chiefly families are expected to be seen to do better at school and other children defer to that.

There is an interesting picture going around the internet, particularly among teachers. A USA secondary teacher obviously got annoyed at cell phones “ringing’/beeping” in class so he/she did an experiment. For one period the class was asked to turn up their cell phones and each time one beeped they recorded what it was. The picture going around is a photo of the chart produced. I do not know how to link a Whatsapp image so here is a summary of the times each service was used to “contact” a student ( in just ONE period of class)

While riding my Harley, I swerved to avoid hitting a roo, lost control and landed in a ditch, severely banging my head.

Dazed and confused I crawled out of the ditch to the edge of the road when a shiny new convertible pulled up with a very beautiful woman who asked, “Are you okay?”

As I looked up, I noticed she was long and lean, she could have been a model.

“I’m okay I think,” I replied as I pulled myself up to the side of the car to get a closer look.

She said, “Get in and I’ll take you home so I can clean and bandage that nasty scrape on your head.”

“That’s nice of you,” I answered, “but I don’t think my wife will like me doing that!”

“Oh, come now, I’m a nurse,” she insisted. “I need to see if you have any more scrapes and then treat them properly.”

Well, she was really pretty and very persuasive. Being sort of shaken and weak, I agreed, but repeated, “I’m sure my wife won’t like this.”

We arrived at her place which was just few miles away and, after a couple of cold beers and the bandaging, I thanked her and said, “I feel a lot better but I know my wife is going to be really upset so I’d better go now.”

“Don’t be silly!” she said with a smile. “Stay for a while. I don’t mind. By the way, where is she?”

“Still in the ditch with the Harley, I guess.”

I am trying to work put why Muttonbird hates successful immigrants so much. I think it’s beause he is not too intelligent, probaby has major inferiority complexes and is generally envious of success. Please feel free to develop this hypothesis so we can suggest a course of psychiatric help that may relieve him of the agony that he is obviously suffering from.
