Some commentators such as The Wall Street Journal are describing the Australian elections as the first centred on climate change. Take note, Simon and the National Party. Overall people who fear job loss and rising prices, as in Queensland, voted for the more realistic approach- care for the environment and a cautious approach to climate change- they voted for the Coalition. They didn’t opt for Labour’s Green-influenced extremist, costly and complex policies.

National should not be afraid of putting jobs and the economy before the vague ideologically-driven extremism of the our own Labour/ Green’s climate change scaremongering.

  In climate research and modeling, we should recognize that we are dealing with a coupled non-linear chaotic system, and therefore that the long-term prediction of future climate states is not possible.

    When I was selected for ACT in 2008 I was given a crash course in various issues I would have to have a position on. Climate change was one. I spent half a day with a scientist who knew about the issue. I will never forget her analogy: if the worlds greenhouse gas emissions in one year was a two litre jug of milk, our contribution to that jug was one half of one drop.
    
    We could go back to the stone age tomorrow, and it wouldn’t make a blind bit of difference. We should only contribute to the climate change circus to the extent that we absolutely have to.

        I’m a vegetarian so am not willingly part of the food chain which kills dolphins or sea turtles.
        
        It is a step towards reducing the amount of bags which end up in the ocean only to be mistaken as food by sea life (in case you haven’t seen the whales with plastic bags in their stomach???).

Some random observations on the Australian Election.

1. It was the hip pocket issues that sank Labor. Attacking over 65s with the franking credits and changes to superannuation. When citizens get into the voting booth and have the pen poised over the ballot paper the question for them is. Which of these Bastards are going to punish me the least.

2. Where were the Pollsters. How did they get it so wrong. Same with Trump. Can the citizens believe any polls now ans should polling be banned in the period before an election lest it influence voters who want to vote for the winning side.

3. Thank goodness for the Aussies they are condemned to a Luddite Labor Government run by the Unions and determined to wreck the economy.

4. Hopefully the NZ citizens will take note next year.

  the nats needs too realise that next year will be the year of NZ’s royal wedding. She is going to have so much free media coverage, wall to wall woman’s mag. They need someone that can actually say something in the media and get traction. With as much coverage as bridges gets with appearances on radio and tv the only thing I can remember from these things right now is the slushy machines. I have more memory of Seymour standing up for things at the moment than Simon

    The National leader will get all the coverage they want in the run up to the election, but it won’t be much use if they’re dull and unconvincing.
    Bridges has kids, he’s been in Women’s Weekly, he’s young and good looking.
    Paula Bennett has been in magazines looking good.
    They all do it and it only counts for so much.
    Ardern may or may not get married next year. If that swings National supporters to her side it doesn’t say much for the depth of National’s appeal.

  If they don’t win they will find every excuse in the book (now I see some in Australia saying it must have been influenced by the Russians/America etc), apart from looking at their own misgivings.

Rightly or wrongly the “Polling Industry” has a major problem I think. Looking around the internet and reading about the Australian election most are rubbishing the polls –especially Joe/Jane Bloggs in blog comments.
I think the MSM have bought it on themselves with their polls. They have become so partisan or biased and openly slag people with different views that many people must just be lying to the pollsters or not willing to participate so they do not get any flack. It is probably similar with people in social situations where they avoid comment –which leads to the “bubble” mentality that is now so apparent.
So the pollsters have real challenge ahead of them.

  We’ve been here in Oz for a few weeks and watched a fair bit of the electioneering. labour didn’t lose the election, The Nat/Libs won it.
  
  The Nat Libs promised more of the same and labour promised more tax and more spend, much like ardern did but as we now know she was just lying as usual and had no intention of going forward with any of her promises. labour lost in 2017 with only 37% support so they actually have no mandate to implement anything.
  
  The electorate supported the centre right policies of National with a little spice on immigration for “what’s in it for wynston”. Unfortunately, labour gave him the “moon” but that still does not give them a mandate for any “labour policies” that may come out of those pathetic “committees” she formed.
