    Well i really really like listening to Heather. Now shes moved to Auckland i’m actually hoping to bump into her somewhere so i can introduce myself. She sounds like my type of gal – bubbly personality and very smart.   RNZ reported that on Sunday internet hits on the 2 NZ Inmigration web sites jumped from 2500 on Sunday 12/05 to 11000 on Sunday 19/05, and actual people applying for visas went from 20 a seek ago to 750 yesterday. However, reality will kick in when they find out about NZ wage levels and cost of living.
  
  The other interesting point is the volume of enquiries coming from Queensland.
  
  I said it it yesterday and I’ll say it again, NZ doesn’t need a bunch of sore losers who can’t handle a democratic result.
  
  And for the benefit of Stephie, Micky, Ian Boag and PM:
  Yes, a lot of us on here (this blog) bitch and whinge about Jacinda, Winston and the CoL, but most of us (some have) have not said we would leave though.

      Left wing voters gave ardern and her bunch of empty promises 37%, watermelons with their extreme left policies gained 6.3%.
      
      Centre right parties like National and “what’s in it for wynston” gained 54% of the popular vote,
      
      Please list me any policies promoted by “what’s in it for wynston” that you deem to be left of centre.
      
      As far as I am concerned reducing immigration to 10,000 per annum and removing dedicated maori seats are about as right wing as any party would have the balls to put to the electorate.

  I had an astoundingly hateful post crop up on my FB news feed, from an Australian person who is normally apolitical. When I commented, on her being upset at the election results, her husband then started in on the abuse. One of his comments was frankly threatening – but I don’t think he realised that I don’t live in Australia.
  My reply was that if people share views to my page, I feel I have the right to respond.
  And was promptly blocked, before I thought to take a screen shot of the comments. Damn.

  Ardern’s performance was easy and conversational, but only because Ferguson didn’t ask any important questions, and amiably allowed the PM to direct the conversation. It was like a nice chat over a coffee. It’s typically sycophantic behaviour from RNZ. Had it been Bridges, he’d have been given RNZ’s very best, both barrels, bully treatment on just about anything they could drum up.

Why can we not see the entry into the Pike River Mine ?
Understand that the media have been banned.
Buy surely we would expect Peters and Little to keep their promises to be the first to enter the mine.
Why would they forgo the publicity they would expect.
Perhaps it is because Cindy is not there to see it and take all the credit for the spending of some $36 million.
She would not let them upstage her.

Its going to be increasingly tough for pollsters like DPF to get it right. Its the ‘shy Tory” problem.

The Left dominated MSM have made it a sin to suggest or say you support the Right. You might as well say you are a baby killer.

So Right supporters either lie and say they will vote Left or say Dont Know increasing the Dont Know vote and completely confusing the Pollsters.

As the Left and its MSM double down in the face of defeats such as in Oz expect them to pour even more vitriol on the Right. They know no difference. They are so deranged that they have gone past the point or being able to debate issues in a rational manner.

Take Climate Change or as the ABC now calls it Climate Crisis or Climate Emergency or Global Heating.

All they have are slogans. Nothing more. Facts that dont fit their narrative are batted away as wrong no matter the proof.

For those of us on the Right we will continue to speak up and speak out even in the face of being penalised for Hate Speech by Andrew Little and his thugs.

  I’d be interested in reading a post by DPF about the way such pollsters keep on getting things wrong- including his own expectation that Labour would win in Australia, though I expect that was just an expectation based upon those relentless pro- Labour polls.
  
  It will be interesting to see the results of Thursdays EU elections in the UK and see the accuracy of polling that puts the Brexit Party at anything up to 35%. Voter turnout will play a big part in that election I expect.

    Polling is a black art with many pitfalls and tricks of the trade. It also depends what questions the client ants asked (‘Yes Prime Minister’ – ‘Leading Questions’ hits the nail right on the head).
    There is also an ‘echo chamber’ effect. If a pollster polls the same group on successive occasions to try and identify trends, the group tends to become narrower and narrower as dissenters fall away.

      Part of the problem is Journalists are not much good at maths and don’t read the fine print on the polls where it talks about sample size and margin of error. The last few polls on the Aussie election had Labour ahead 51 to 49 two party preferred. That is a statistical dead heat.
      Heard DPF on the radio last night explaining that in a first past the post election few votes either way in a few marginal electorates can turn a dead heat into a bit of a rout. Morrison obviously knew that and picked the seats to defend and the ones to try and win.
      
      Much the same in the 2016 US election. Clinton won the total vote by an amount within the margin of error on the polls but Trump won the States that mattered by quite small margins.

There is one small thing people are NOT taking into account with this superannuation thing has thrown up.
The fact that many people who come to NZ with less than 10 years to retirement, bring with them the entitlements from their country of origin.
This is subtracted from their NZ super, so WE don’t pay them the full entitlement any way.
So calculated the tax they have paid, since arrival, it is about right to pay them.

I was in a club a cpl years ago and saw a party gathering, asked the barmaid what/who was the celebration for, turns out some guy had turned 65 and was officially an OAP, I enquired if he was now retired/retiring and barmaid looked at me as if I’d just shit in her handbag and said ‘pffft he hasn’t worked for 40 year’s’ shook her head and served someone else. So I guess the celebration was just moving from the benefit to super?

I just listened to Winston explaing why they had not done more on funding ambulances. Reading between the lines, it sounds like the year of delivery is dead in the water. They haven’t got much spare money, and what they have they want keep for election bribes next year. I guess they blew it all on a billion here and a billion there in the first few months.
Will their voter base go for the promise that 2021 will be the year of delivery? Time will tell.

Im guessing twyford will lose kiwibuild, pretend doctor clark will lose health, immigration will be given to someone else. There are so many screw up and under-performing it could be a major reshuffle but what gets what is hard because it is just a disaster no matter what you do.

This is the second time the crown underwrite for developers building Kiwibuild homes has been called. This while the housing market outside Auckland is still strong and affordable homes still apparently scarce in Auckland. If Twyford ever manages to get Kiwibuild volumes up and we have a serious housing downturn at the same time we wont be able to pay the Nurses and teachers anything at all.

Labour sex conference scandal
In the absence of any media reports or information on this matter I wrote to the N Shore DC for info on any trial etc and have commented on GD the lack of info. I have now received a reply which answers the primary question – copy below – and am writing to Auckland DC for more details excluding the names. Any one with more or better info please let me know.

Apologies for the delay coming back to you.

I made enquiries with a number of different staff in our office, and checked our list for upcoming trials but couldn’t seem to find anything that might have been this case; I will also admit I was surprised if we did have a case with this high a profile, that nobody was aware of it off the top of their heads.

Finally, as I was about to write this email to you, I may have just figured out why. I found the below article:

which notes that the name suppression hearing was conducted at Auckland District Court (late last year), rather than North Shore. I’m uncertain if the charge may have initially been laid here and transferred to Auckland, or if it originated there in the first place, but that indicates to me it is likely where the case file will still be now.

Therefore, if you want to make contact with Auckland District Court (auckland.dc@justice.govt.nz), there will likely be someone there who has more information and can let you know of any relevant trial dates etc.

The names of those involved were supressed so I cannot state a name but the case in question had a very high profile in the media shortly after the alleged incident, I have heard anecdotally that the offenders name may be [deleted by DPF] but I would have thought you may be aware of the matter as the offender was reported by the media and that the case was due to be heard in your court in March 2019. Hope you can help identify the case and whilst I was careful not to ask for details that may be sub judice and really only need information on if the case has been heard or when it will be or were transferred to – Auckland District Court perhaps. If you are unable to trace I will make further enquiries and perhaps you will advbise what information apart from the name subject to suppression will help you. I am happy for any reply to refer only to the case ref. My enquiry is a general public one for the purpose of being able to attend any trial.

Unfortunately I am struggling to answer any of your questions at this stage though, as I’m unable to identify the case you are referring to. I am aware of the Labour Party Conference allegations through media reporting, but have no knowledge of such a case currently or recently being heard at the North Shore District Court. This is not to say that such a case was not brought here at all, but simply that I am not aware of its existence and without knowing the name of the defendant or a case number I can’t look up any of the answers to your more specific questions.

Do you have any details of the case specifically that would help us identify it?

Then, if we are able to identify the particular case you are interested in, I would need to know your relationship to the case (if any), or if you making a general public enquiry. For privacy reasons, we are quite restricted in what information can be released publicly, particularly while a case may still be ongoing. Alternatively if you have a relationship to the case (whether the defendant or a victim), there is certain information that can be disclosed via people in particular roles (defence counsel, victim advisors etc) so I could ask the relevant representative to get in touch with you.

My apologies again for the lack of response to your earlier email. If you could please advise any of the further information noted above, I will see what more we can do to help you.

As NZ Courts are taxpayer funded and being a taxpayer I expect those employed officials to respond to a request for information or if such information is time consuming to provide either acknowledge and state a date when the information will be provided or advise the information will not be provided with a lawful reason, you have done none of these and instead ignored my reasonable time. If a reply is not forthcoming within a week from today I will make an official information act request and ask my local MP to ask the Minister of Justice for guidance on how the courts should deal with such requests and the timescale.

3) If the case was postponed please confirm the new trial date?
4) If the case was transferred to another court please confirm the address of that court and if a trial date was set for a hearing?
5) If the case was heard was a decision reached or if a reserved decision when will that decision be announced?
6) Was name suppression continued ?
7) If name suppression was lifted please confirm the names of the accused?
8) If the case is not to proceed please advise the reasons – ie plea bargain etc?
9) Apart from the allegation of unwanted sexual behaviour were any charges concerning the supply of alcohol to minors laid?

The delay is disturbing given other more complicated cases have already been tried albeit the offense was later, and the possibility of permanent name suppression concerning as it may well in itself indicate a link to a high profile person in Govt making the possibility of many people being implicated wrongly, hopefully there will be no name suspression after the trial.

  Update – reply from Auckland Court – impressed with speed of reply –
  The reference number for the case is CRI-2018-004-005593. The Jury trial will commence on 2 September 2019 at 10am at the Auckland District Court. The trial courtroom has not been allocated yet. If you are attending the trial on that day, please proceed to the Auckland DC Criminal Counter in Level 1 to get the courtroom number. The counter staff will direct you to the trial courtroom.
  
  I cannot provide other information except the ones that I have already given. The Judge has directed an interim suppression on the names of defendant and witnesses. The details and facts of the case are also suppressed. If you require more information, please file a formal application to have access to the court case. The application will be placed before the trial judge for approval.

At the Breaking Views blog, Bruce Moon takes on a key aspect in Maori argument for reserved, unelected, race-based representatives on local bodies.

The tip comes from the Point of Order blog, which has a link to the background row – in the Hastings District Council – in the second link below.

The unelected, race-based representation row has widened to other councils, such as Canterbury Environment Council. Ngai Tahu tried to gain representation on it by a Parliamentary bill, but this was voted down jointly by National, ACT, and NZ First MPs.

  I’m sure we all know who one of them is, let’s see had an affair with another mp, a radio journalist, a tv3 political journalist and woman have talked about how abusive Jamie was. Any other industry these people would be fired, maybe even charged, here they are being protected. Sounds a bit like the Catholic Church.       No, it’s a true cross-party issue. Plenty of well-known offenders from all political persuasions. But it’s not just the MPs – lots of staff there have had very bad reputations.
      It’s a weird environment, and a significant minority of people there use that as some kind of excuse to behave very badly.
