Can someone lucidly explain to me please, why we should “scrap and overhaul the justice system” ,essentially because Maori commit more drug inspired/ violent/ family crime than any other ethnic group??

    Reservations have done the North American Indians and even the Australian Aboriginals little good.
    
    The first point that needs to be rammed home is that we do not have separate identities and citizenship. We are all New Zealanders and should be equal in opportunities and the outcomes will take care of themselves.
    
    Continually harping on about our differences is divisive and ultimately doomed to fail one side of that “card”. Too many maori are pushing a line of separation. That needs to be depowered and deleted from our conscious as it will fail to unite us or lift anyine out of the crap they currently find themselves in.

        So many experts on a report they haven’t read. Maybe we don’t need reports and should just rely on mostly anonymous message board experts. Maori bashing now about crime rates and last night wailing about National having no mates since the Maori Party, who put National into Government 3 times, were rejected by their own electorate. The world is changing folks try to keep up. Bill English was enlightened on this subject but there seems to be no one left with his capability. Then someone wise decided that Simon and Paula would attract the Maori vote which doesn’t appear to be happening yet. Middle NZ want better outcome for Maori, the majority of middle NZ didn’t like the budget being leaked and published, 52% of National voters thought it was fine – there’s the road block to the treasury benches.

        We actually have racism and sexism written into our legislation because perhaps sometimes it is necessary to define a persons characteristics for practical reasons such as ‘male suicide’. It is when the funding and power of a minority group becomes dis-proportionally large in favour of themselves – that we have true apartheid.

  Morning Report explained why: colonialism. Expecting people to function well in a different culture and language is unfair and leads to inter-generational deprivation.
  
  For a moment that made sense. Then I thought of all the brilliant Chinese and Korean kids I know who come here with very little English and soon are getting top marks in every subject. Through intelligence, hard work and huge amounts of parental supervision and support. Including parents deciding to have no more than 2 kids usually, so that they can give them a lot of attention.

      Not my point, King, and you know it.
      
      Immigration needs to be very limited for infrastructure alone, without going into ‘colonialism’ issues.
      
      But when it comes to attitude and achievement, indeed many Kiwis of various ethnic groups and cultures could benefit from the incredibly hardworking, family oriented attitude of the Asian families I meet. Interestingly, *they* are doing more to promote good aspects of European culture (e.g. medicine, science, music) than many other Kiwi kids are encouraged to do these days.
      
      Many Asian families in NZ seem to be great at choosing the beneficial factors of a culture and running with it, brilliantly. Good on them.

    No matter how their forebears got here.
    
    Mine were born elsewhere but schooled here, so only citizens.
    But their mates, Chinese, Indian, NZer’s, French, USA stock all Kiwis together, but they are Tangata Whenua as they were born here.
    
    We are totally against this First Nations rubbish.
    We are all equal, the Maori are NOT 1st class against the rest of us…..

    Maori deprived themselves by not having a written language. They had to take on the newcomers lingo to survive the changes from pa to modernity. Transliteration adds nothing to an extant society.
    
    Brilliant Chinese & Korean? By comparison there is an average 20pts IQ difference between them and our Maori society. There’s the schooling attainment problem. On average they attain “not achieved” grade. Culturally many are even denied their innate ability as not having the required social standing to be seen to be more able.

  The Justice & Legal system are both unfit for purpose, judges whose judgment is so out of kilter with public opinion, the delay in offenses being tried, eg The Labour sex scandal being heard in the Auckland District court on 2/9 18 months after the alleged offending. Decisions by Auckland district lawless society on complaints of Lawyers misconduct, normally – no further action often despite clear evidence of misconduct in the eyes of most people. And Politicians and Lawyers why they are continually at the bottom of the pile of trusted people!!!

    Ironically they are currently immune from justice.
    
    A proper misconduct and complaints process for Judges and lawyers would ultimately involve a jury for serious offending, along with penalties such as fines, compensation or dismissal.

    Under the Lawyers and Conveyancers Act 2006 that role was transferred to the New Zealand Law Society on 1 August 2008.

While the overall poll results for the National Party weren’t great the results from the specific question on the Budget hack is terrible news for them.

Was National right to seek out and release Budget details before Budget Day?

While 32.6 percent said yes, 55.4 percent of respondents said no – they thought it was wrong. The rest didn’t know.

This confirms what I’ve been hearing and explains why National are so very, very desperate to shift the narrative away from the hack itself and onto the response by Treasury and Robertson, and now even Andrew Little.

The Nats are hitting out in the dark because they realise getting a pound of flesh is crucial in the face of current opposition by a clear majority of Kiwis.

        1. It was NOT “leaked”, it was openly put on a web site.
        2. National only reproduced what was PUBLICLY available.
        3. As for lying, people who tell lies, should be expected to be called LIARS. Your statement of the chronology of how this played out, is incorrect, I may have called it a mistake on your part, but when corrected by the FACTS, you kept repeating the lies told by Robertson etc.

    What seems to be constantly overlooked is the National only revealed what might be best described as ‘insensitive’ material. They acted responsibly by not releasing anything that would adversely impact the markets.

  This would have been asked under the assumption that there was some underhanded behavior to announcing of budget details, and answered by those polled when they were under the assumption that what they had done was illegal.
  
  To me this is the standout between the two polls and helps to explain the difference. If a significant number of the polling results were from the immediate 36-48 hours from when the poll started, it was in the media that Treasury was hacked and in the very best light, National were beneficiaries of illegal behavior, and at worst those committing the illegal behavior.

Very interesting article in powerline about the Muslim “war on the cross”. It appears that Muslims are so enraged by the site of a cross, whether worn around the neck, or on a church, that they will commit violence up to and including homicide!

Examples include a Muslim immigrant in Rome who stabbed a Christian man for wearing a crucifix around his neck. A Turkish boy spat on and beaten by his fellow pupils and his teacher for wearing a silver cross around his neck. And a Christian cemetery in Malaysia desecrated and the crosses broken.

All this of course is following the founders of their religion Mohammed who believed that one day the crosses will all be broken. This is perfectly rational behaviour for a Muslim who takes his faith seriously.

Once again I would warn New Zealanders against naïvely accepting the claim that Muslim immigrants to New Zealand will be “us”.

  So too is the seemingly otherwise inexplicable sight of Muslim mothers not only being unconcerned when their children become suicide bombers, but being actually ecstatically happy about it. The Koran teaches that no Muslim, no matter how observant, is guaranteed to go Paradise – except those who have died in jihad or as martyrs.
  
  With that understanding, the seemingly inexplicable reaction of these mothers is totally understandable: what mother wouldn’t want their kid to have a guaranteed place in heaven?

That’s a strangely worded question. I was not aware that National actively sought out the information. If they did, fair enough, but if they didn’t, it’s a misleading question designed to sway the answer. Makes me wonder how other questions were worded. This makes National sound sneaky.

But most of the questions seemed to be slanted towards dirty water ways, and what farmers should be doing to fix them – and then asked what I thought would be the appropriate fix!         Putting aside the “balance” issue, let’s focus on “irrelevance”.
        
        Many of the programmes on RNZ predate modern media and information channels.
        
        Let’s take simple examples:
        
        1. Music – RNZ has a few programmes specialising in New Zealand music. With Spotify and specialist websites e.g. https://www.muzic.net.nz/ why do we need RNZ to be all hip about NZ music? There is simply no market failure that justifies public spending to disseminate information on New Zealand music.
        
        2. Rural affairs and farming – they act like nothing has changed since the 1970s when mum and dad farmer sat around relying on RNZ for the weather and stock prices. There are now rich forums and information sources online for farmers, e.g. http://farmnews.co.nz/. And farmers use these intensively. There are also online forums where they can network.
        
        3. Weather forecasts. All RNZ does is read out the weather forecasts and weather warnings from the metservice website.
        
        Of course quite apart from its irrelevance, RNZ is a repository for socialist activists who promote their own agendas. If it were unplugged there would be screaming and tantrums, but after a few weeks it would be forgotten. The socialist activists would need to pay for their own platforms. And trampers would get the mountain weather forecasts from the metservice.

      Even on RNZ Concert we now have presenters, not content with simply introducing the music they play, but pushing their propagandist, progressive and often alarmist views. References to ‘border walls’ ‘climate emergency’ ‘public arts funding in the USA’ and so on are all issues that have been referenced recently by RNZ Concert presenters.
      
      I love the fact that they have given listeners the ability to text opinions via 8824. It’s fun giving them a bit of forthright feedback! Generally I take the line ‘Play the music and cut the progressive talk-fest’.

        Yes commercial radio shits me because of .. well the commercials. I just don’t see much relevance for broadcast radio as a music source or an information source. Concert Radio is an anachronism. Use spotify.
        
        Maybe RNZ would be helpful in a national emergency. So if we can’t get rid of it, cut its budget by 60 percent. Turn it into a basic news service. It can rebroadcast international news for 16 hours each day. It does not need to read the f****** weather forecast each day. We have the metservice for that. Neither does it need to announce the share prices of random stocks or the exchange rate. Total duplication.
        
        Sadly the last government could have taken on RNZ. But it did not. Now it is just going to double down on the madness, at even greater financial cost.

I was somewhat skeptical to read a tweet from ‘Hanna Tamaki’ where she maintained that ‘Sir Robert Jones’ had offered to pay Bishop Brian’s legal fees, should he wish to sue the Dominion Post over a cartoon they’d published

Sure enough, i found this post from Sir Robert, which reads in part: “….A month ago the Dom Post published a grossly offensive cartoon asserting the Bishop’s real God was money. There’s no evidence of that and Tamaki could take them to the cleaners should he sue.
I wish he would and I would happily fund it”

Sir Robert goes on to say: “….A large part of the animosity seems to stem from Tamaki refusing to go along with the recent vogue of treating blokes who like to put their cocks in other blokes bums as pursuing some form of higher art form. It’s not.”

Regardless of what people think of Charles Colson – one of the Watergate Seven and jailed for obstruction of justice, where he first-hand witnessed the plight of many African Americans – he may have been right when he said “in effect” that America enslaved the Africans Americans twice: once until the Civil War freed them and then by telling them how badly off they were in every respect of social standing, enslaved them a second time.
That statement was in a discussion with New Zealand legendary interviewer Brian Edwards – sorry, no link – and years ago, but could still suggest that a similar statement may apply to Maori – effectively “colonised” once, until the Treaty, then in effect colonised again with the endless statements of their occupying the lowest social statistics.

  Or – In over five decades of following politics, I have watched politicians condemn the Maori, Pacific Island and low class White communities to a life of prison, poor help and low living standards. – Lastmanstanding, kiwiblog [1] 
How long do politicians need to chant this fundamental hate speech until mere repetition gives it some credence? 

Example 1
No mana for Māori – Press Release: New Zealand Labour Party
“After nine years of this National Government, propped up by the Māori party, there’s not a lot to brag about. Māori are more likely to be overweight, depressed, homeless, incarcerated and uneducated according to these disturbing statistics produced under National’s watch. … “There’s no mana for Māori who support a waka that’s shackled to the National Party. [2] 
Repeating the mantra of Maori failure in all social statistics for cheap political gain?

Example 2 
Criminal Justice Summit: Plenary discussion on over-representation of Māori in the system. ‘It’s our fault he spent nearly half a century in a gang’ – the story of reformed prisoner.
 Sam [now 60] was just 10 years-old when strangers arrived at his house in Mangere and took him away. His only crime was that he was born into a whānau of 16 children. They took him away from his home, away from his family, and put him on a train to a boys’ home in Levin. He had never known abuse or violence in his life until he walked through their doors. Four years later – and Sam was put on another train and sent back to Auckland. Within two weeks he had joined a gang – a new home, a new family he would remain with for the next 48 years … 
There had to be dozens of points in Sam’s life when someone could have stepped in … There are 5000 Sams in our prisons. And they include his children, and his grandchildren. 
… We need to do something together to create a different future for Māori and for their whanau. We need to break the cycle, connect them to their people, help them, and have hope for them.
 … I’ll probably never know why Sam trusted me with his story. I was a stranger to him. 
… What are we going to do to deserve Sam’s forgiveness? [3]

Example 3
… the disproportion of Māori prisoners was only one issue.
“There’s a definite racist skew, and not just the over-representation. Studies have found that Māori are more likely to be investigated, more likely to be apprehended, more likely to be prosecuted rather than warned, more likely to get a prison sentence rather than a community-based sentence, and that sentence is more likely to be longer.
“This sort of mantra about one law for all, well, Māori are saying, ‘Great, give us some of that’. Because at the moment it isn’t one law for all. And we can’t turn a blind eye to that.” [4]

Example 1 and 2 are both Kelvin Davis, MP for Te Tai Tokerau – Minister for Māori Development, Corrections – to show perhaps how subtle, unintentional, and institutional the “racism” is.

And example 3 is in the report A Vessel of Tears, which was released yesterday morning by the Safe and Effective Justice Advisory Group, chaired by former National Party Minister Chester Borrows
– still doing yet again what Charles Colson’ comment seems to suggest is a problem.

And the Borrows’ quote – “Māori are more likely to be investigated … apprehended … prosecuted … [deja vu]” came just after a statement that –
“What Māori are saying is that they’re ready through their communities and organisations to step up and provide solutions. We’ve got to make sure the system accommodates the solutions.” [4]

Could go anything go wrong?
Perhaps it just did. Again.

      There was (and would be) no issue with either of those possible substitutes if our PM was unable to represent NZ at such an important commemoration.
      
      However, we’ve never heard any explanation of why the PM chose not to attend. So we can assume that she simply didn’t want to do so – and risk being ‘upstaged’ alongside more important Leaders from our WWll Allies.   D-Day aaniveraries are not a significant commemoration for New Zealand. The major military commemoration this year was Cassino, which passed unremarked on Kiwiblog.
  The government’s commemorations programme, set years ago, identified two major anniversaries for 2019 – 100 years since Versailles and Tuia Encounters 250.
  So, if the G-G isn’t important enough to go to D-Day, when does she get to do her share of head-of-state stuff? The Queen of New Zealand doesn’t represent us anywhere.

    Take Winston Churchill: in my view indisputably the greatest statesman of the 20th century. He was a pisshead – almost certainly an alcoholic – a racist, something of a misogynist, and on occasion ruthlessly chucked subordinates under the bus for decisions he had signed off on.     RP: Yes indeed….perhaps the worst example in New Zealand is Listener “journalist” Paul Thomas – his expertise is in sports reporting – whose diatribes about Trump seem to appear in the Listener every second week. He quite clearly suffers badly from TDS…the problem is there really is no New Zealand equivalent magazine…North & South only comes out monthly, costs more than twice as much, and contains a lot of stuff that is of no interest to me. And I only rarely manage to get the Listener cross word out.

        Quite correct freemark. He paid people to get fresh content, then he charged people for access to Megaupload where people could access the content, and the content creator would not get paid. That’s neither legal not ethical.
        
        I refer to the case of the New Zealand software developer, who is mentioned in the brief of evidence. He created a sound editing software package, which initially sold well, but suddenly the sales dropped. He then discovered a link to his software for free at Megaupload. He contacted them, and asked that the link be taken down. It was, then sales picked up again, then dropped off, and again and again, he found links on Megaupload. He contemplated legal action against Megaupload, but realised that it would break him financially, fighting the might of Dotcom and his rich mates.
        
        My personal belief is that Dotcom is a snake oil salesman, who is happy to profit from the work of others, and has no regard whatsoever for others’ property rights. I would be very surprised if the Supreme Court rules in his favour, and won’t lose any sleep if he is extradited to the US to face the charges on which he was originally arrested.

Everyone knows the issue of partisanship of different tribes on different social media sites, and in some countries there are media that cater to either left, or right, wing slant of the news.

So what does make of the rival Jessica (TVNZ) and Tova (TV3/Newshub) shows on Sunday night – totally different takes on the current state of popular opinion on the political parties?

Do they seek out those polls that comfort their target demographics (old people who own property who watch TV1 and that younger demographic that does not watching TV3)? Or is this just a happy coincidence?

Of course, if they were to do a follow up today using the poll done by the other, they would end up becoming a parody of the commentators on the muppets.

I see that Budget 2019/20 allocated yet a further $12 million to the Pike River Mine recovery agency.

That will bring the total allocated to more than $50 million.

Meanwhile, down the road in Greymouth, there is a new hospital just waiting to be opened, but they cannot afford to put any beds or equipment into it. They are presently repainting the new hospital grey, regular maintenance no doubt on what is now a non productive asset !

      My wife given 6 months/1 yr/2yrs to live due to a heart condition, all tests not done or reported on since February, she’s getting worse.
      We call, and can’t get a response from the nurses involved, have to leave messages and wait.
      She needs replacement nose tube for the Oxygen machine….who to contact?

      Under National when she NEEDED a back operation, after being told for 5 years, she would have to wait. Less than one year after Tony Ryall became health minister, it was being arranged, the 2 CHCH earthquakes delayed it, but it was done straight after that.
      I take this opportunity to THANK National but more specifically Tony, for having the competence, drive and work ethic that lead to the good out comes then, for my wife.
      I spit on Helen Clark and Annette King for their borderline corruption and incompetence, that caused my wife so much pain (Morphine every day).
      And I am back to the same attitude from yet another useless and lazy Labour Govt., that is causing her suffering AGAIN!!@!@!!

“Macron warns Boris UK economy will be plunged into turmoil if he withholds £39bn divorce payment”

It appears Macron does not really understand economics like some else we know. Alternatively or maybe both, he is just attempting blackmail (cannot be bullying from from a short ar..e like him).
The article is behind a paywall but this is the start

“Emmanuel Macron has warned Boris Johnson that Britain’s economy will be downgraded and plunged into turmoil if the UK withholds the £39billion Brexit divorce payment from Brussels.

Mr Johnson used his first interview of the Tory leadership campaign to warn that he would “retain” the divorce bill until he got a better deal with the EU.

He said in an interview with The Sunday Times that the money would be a “great lubricant” to persuade European nations to reopen talks on the Irish backstop and the terms of a future trade deal.

However a source close to Mr Macron, the French President, said the failure to pay the divorce bill would represent the equivalent of a “sovereign debt default”, such as..

Johnson should give up and just walkout, assuming he gets to be PM. The EU has no intention of changing the Berlin Agreement (as some in the UK call it).

    Equally, as the HoL has determined, there is no legal basis for the divorce payment. So, Macron would be well advised not to antagonise the UK, else he encourages the UK to ignore him and they talk to the organ grinder (Germany) rather than the monkeys.

Kiwibuild homes could become more affordable when large buildings full of shoeboxes come on stream. Provided there are buyers for them of course.

Given there are already a lot of shoeboxes on the market in cities, and not with a lot of social housing neighbours.

The shoeboxes will be 1 bedroom or even studios. Noted that over half of those on the state housing list do not have children, and most are single people, it is pretty obvious where supply and demand might match up.

Reserve Bank lending to residential landlords well down on a couple of years back – close to 65% down now from mid 2016. Talking around $1.5billion down a month – that is a truckload of rentals not bought.

The move towards Maori separatism continues, as the Government announces more than $40 million for the “Te Hurihanganu” initiative.

Kelvin Davis, Associate Minister of Education, says the project money is “towards addressing racism and bias in education systems and better support Maori learning.”

Is Davis saying you run education on racial lines to combat racism?

Two “critical factors” were identified that support Maori learners, high quality teaching that reflects Maori culture and identity, and strong engagement from whanau and the wider community.

New Zealand is pushing hard towards more parallel systems based on race: in education, in justice most noticeably.

If that’s what the country wants, fair enough. But is describing a race-based strategy as anti-racism hypocrisy?

My two-volume, 1973 Shorter Oxford English Dictionary doesn’t even include the word “racism”. The word has has been created since then, likely by political activists.

An online dictionary called “English Oxford Living Dictionary” (with “Living” in italics) gives the word “racism” two meanings:

1: “Prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one’s own race is superior.”

2: “The belief that all members of each race possess characteristics, abilities, or qualities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races.”

The fund Davis has announced support for seems to fit the second definition, particularly if you drop the second clause, which says “especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races”.

He would have to agree if he wants NZ separatism to be differentiated from South African apartheid.

If he doesn’t support this definition, surely he must accept Maori school pupils are not different from others in “characteristics and abilities”. In that case, why a race-based grant?

It is a shame that we have a prime minister who prefers to be guided by what the unions want than the hugely positive results the charter schools were having. It shows she does not care for poverty, she does not care for lifting kids out of the cycle of failure that is the state education system for those that struggle with it.   The Wellbeing Budget allocated $42 million over three years to the programme, which builds on the Te Kotahitanga programme. The Ministry of Education stopped funding Te Kotahitanga at the end of 2013 after spending more than $40 million on it over 12 years.
  
  This will possibly thwart the Waitangi Tribunal consideration of Labour destroying partnership schools.
  
  But how much were partnership schools costing in their operation?
  It appears to be a never revealed detail.

A genuine question – why is what would have been taken for granted as quite normal in our past now totally unacceptable today?

Is the poverty being discussed today really a poverty of infrastructure, in this case housing, or is it poverty of spirit, of ambition, of responsibility?

My parents both had outside longdrops growing up, washing was done in a copper with a machine and wringer subsequently, small bedrooms with multiple kids etc etc – but they turned out alright.

I’d be interested in any thoughts.

    It is frequently defined as living in a family on <60% of average income. Which is a rather obvious marxist agenda on display by the promoters.
    
    Some questions from poverty surveys:
    
    -suitable clothes for important or special
    occasions?
    -have a holiday overseas at least every
    three years?
    -go without fresh fruit or vegetables?
    -buy cheaper cuts of meat or buy less
    meat than you would like?
    -continue wearing clothing that was worn
    out?
    -postpone or put off visits to the doctor?
    -postpone or put off visits to the dentist?
    -spend less on hobbies or other special interests than you would like?
    -put up with feeling cold?
    -delay replacing or repairing broken or damaged appliances?
    -delay replacing or repairing broken or worn-out furniture?
    
    I fail on all of these at times, but like fuck do I live in poverty. I just prioritise savings over spending.

  For those of us who saw any of the late 1950s / 1960s, Swifty, your penultimate paragraph says it all. That level of grinding, material poverty for ‘working class’ people is thankfully today a thing of the past for most of our population; and today’s ‘welfare state’ provides an ongoing protective shield against the worst ravages of such poverty.
  
  Your question about a “poverty of spirit, of ambition, of responsibility” may be mixing metaphors a little confusingly, but I think that it comes close to identifying some of the issues. Two other aspects, however, are:
  a) many ordinary people once assisted and supported their neighbours to a greater degree than today when the the latter were in obvious need or hardship; and
  b) earlier generations may have had a greater personal discipline and / or incentive in their quest to escape lasting poverty, i.e. before the arrival of the ‘welfare state’.

Now we have streaming services for music and given the subscription price and the available on them content ripping music is now no longer common or worthwhile

Same thing is happening with movies and streaming services.

New technologies, new business models that is the answer

Most people are not going to illegally download content if they can get it on netflix or rent or buy it from iTunes for a reasonable price

I agree with your comments about the business model Andrei; it was genius. You pay a small number of people to accumulate content, which you then charge a vast number of people a subscription to access.

Unfortunately, it was also illegal. Dotcom was patently depriving those who created the content the opportunity to make an income from it. You can’t compare Megaupload to Netflix or Spotify, because they pay the content creators for the rights to use it. Dotcom was cutting out the middle man.

  Yep, hosting pirated content is illegal, or should be if the illegality can be disputed (much like exploiting people’s security mistakes to access their data). However, the content owners (not creators, those are very different groups) were as much at fault in this as Dotcom was.
  
  If you set up business models in which most people can’t access your content except at great expense (eg, you sell exclusive rights to the content to a local provider, as though the Internet had geography or something), people are going to say “Fuck that” and access the content some other way.
  
  Illegal or not, Dotcom was just meeting a popular demand created by the very content owners accusing him of theft. If people perceive laws to have no ethical mandate, they don’t obey them (eg, witness the general flouting of rules against recreational drug use).

  Suicide related to a custody dispute is very sad.
  
  I did a search at The Spinoff and found just one Mark Daalder article mentioning Jesse Anderson. It was dated 2 February.
  
  It was a pretty flaky and predictable opinion piece, for example roping in Mr Multiculturism – Paul Spoonley – and former News of the World (closed because of phone hacking) reporter Andrea Vance.
  
  But surely the Family Court would not have based a custody decision on political scribbling like Daalder’s.

    It’s a cop out by friends and family blaming the courts etc for their failure to help him and get him help.
    
    Just another loser taking the easy way out while people who go through far more and struggle to live through each day keep waking up fighting to live.

  Why was custody of Mr Anderson’s child before the Family Court? The existence of an uncomplimentary blog post about him is an unlikely reason, so there was presumably something else behind it.
