  It’s a TVNZ hit-job. When they published the story online yesterday, the first question asked of Muller was whether any other National MP had been leaked “that” document, i.e. the one that Walker leaked to media outlets.
  
  But lo and behold, when TVNZ ran the story on the news last night, the question about “that” document was at the end of a sequence of questions, not the beginning. Someone had sneakily edited the order the present Muller as untruthful.
  
  Odd that it’s National that continuously gets accused of “dirty politics” when there’s some pretty low rent stuff going on in broadcasters’ editing suites.

      That’s the issue NK. Woodhouse never had “that document”; Boag sent it just to Walker, probably because Woodhouse wasn’t replying to her emails. So when Muller said at the outset of the interview that Woodhouse hadn’t seen it (despite that question appearing to end the interview), he was correct.
      
      TVNZ is also failing to ask the most obvious question; who was sending private, confidential health data to Boag at her private email address, rather than her Helicopter Trust one?

    I don’t know. Woodhouse said on Kathryn Ryan yesterday that he told Muller on Tuesday. That means he lied as far as I can see. Either way I have a feeling the Boag fiasco isn’t over. National needs to get any information about contact with Boag out now. By any other MP’s. or Muller. They need to assume anything they are hiding with end up public. Tell the truth, do it now. Otherwise it will come out eventually and the damage will be ten fold. Journalists smell blood here. woodhouse had better have told the truth too. Because Boag will be cooperating with the investigation so any emails she has sent or received will get out. They need get ahead of this because every time they report and use the dirty politics label it does damage.

      No, it’s over from most people’s point of view.
      
      An unknown young fellow f@#ked up, his leader spanked him, he resigned.
      
      That is all most will consider counts except, mainly and if National keep reminding everyone, that Muller acted promptly and decisively at exactly the same time as Clark was forced to sack himself.
      
      So is the “dirty politics” claim as far as being of any value.
      
      Dirty politics is now regarded as the norm by most and, I suspect, only Mr Seymour indulging in such would raise eyebrows outside of Parliament and it’s slime.

      Woodhouse comes across as pompous and evasive to say the least. I hope that the enquiry will require him to hand over his Dunedin based computer for analysis. And anybody that believes him when he says that he couldn’t access his private email address from anywhere else than Dunedin has got to be in dreamland.
      
      Seems to me that Boag, through her bizarre actions has not only stuffed Walker and Woodhouse, but has also caused Muller a huge amount of grief. It would be interesting to listen to what Bridges has to say over events of the past few weeks. Bet he’s pleased he is not under media scrutiny.

        I can assure you that’s entirely possible. Many people are not that tech-savvy or understand how email accounts work. I have access to my Gmail account and two work-related ones through a single Outlook instance and can access them on laptop or mobile, as well as the standard Gmail access through Google.
        
        My wife, on the other hand, accesses her Gmail only from the mobile, and her Outlook only from her laptop, despite me offering numerous times to set it up so she can access everything from any device. She’s comfortable knowing which is which.
        
        Woodhouse could easily be in this category, and may want to only access a particular account when he’s in Dunedin, as he said. I don’t see anything necessarily sinister in this.

        I wonder if it is acceptable for any MP from any party exchanging parliamentary business using a private email address. Will the QC be asking to not just check Woodhouse’s personal computer but Muller’s as well?
        
        I wonder if Woodhouse went to the trash and deleted again or deleted to whole trash just after deleting Boag’s email.

      There are two issues Bruce. There are the three or four emails to Woodhouse from Boag, which Muller learned about on Tuesday night. But the email to Walker was last Friday, several days later.
      
      Woodhouse claims not to have acted on the emails he received. Walker did, and therein lies the big difference.

        Yes. I understand all that, but the story he told about this in the interview sounded wildly implausible to me, so I am sure it did to the msm journalists. I hope it’s all true, but my points is don’t lie, you will be found out and make yourself more trouble, and get everything out there, if there’s any more. Not only about Woodhouse but anyone in the party. Otherwise it will come out over time and be much worse.

        Woodhouse, who is a senior MP, about #7, received an email from Boag with leaked info he knew she should not have sent on 21-June.
        He should have spoken to his boss & it would have been nipped in the bud.
        He sat on it.
        Next minute.
        Walker put out his inflammatory 11,000 Asians swamping Queenstown flyer.
        Woodhouse says nothing.
        Walker leaked the info Boag sent him, which may or may not have been the same info Boag sent to Walker.
        Woodhouse said nothing.
        Muller railed about the shambolic government who engaged a QC, at eye watering cost to us, to find out just what’s going on.
        Boag appeared on the panel furiously typing out emails.
        Walker came clean ten minutes later.
        Boag’s email arrived five minutes later.
        Muller can’t talk to reporters because he’s having a cup of tea and a lie down.

    Muller needs to come out and state all taxpayer-funded broadcasting/television networks will be sold within 100 days of election or when a buyer can be found. Stuff will be gone in a short time, so that should weed the majority of leeching left from positions of public influemce. This current pro-Ardern/CoL crap is over the top.

      If National and Muller really want a media hit-job done on them during the election campaign, then yes, this is what he should announce.
      
      On the other hand, if they don’t want that, and I think they should avoid it at all costs, then they shouldn’t announce it. I’m not saying they shouldn’t do it if in government, but it would be political suicide to announce it like this.

    Be careful what you wish for Justitia – remember, Act’s early gift to New Zealand was Donna Awatere-Huata! I would want to look closely at what potential catastrophes sit on the Act list from about #6 down.
    
    It’s also interesting that there are two David Seymours on the list, at #1 and #19, and the presser Act published along with its list noted the list contains 13 licensed firearms owners!

        If ACT delibrately advertises that its members own firearms (I assume because they think it would appeal to their pool of potential voters – otherwise it’s strange random fact to include), then they do so knowing it won’t appeal to others.

  But I definitely see a rise of support for ACT around here.
  And a long way to go before the shine wears off St Jacinda’s halo for any mass defection.
  National Party? We have rather a smug and ineffective chap here as our MP, but can’t see him losing. Too many large vested interests.

  Captain, Mrs HK and I have been having the same discussion.
  
  I’ve been a member of the party 43 years and the last time I remember this level of ill discipline, disunity and rank stupidity within the caucus was the era of Jim McLay.
  
  As for our support in K & M, ordinarily we would be 2 votes Nat, what has stopped us supporting Act was the local candidate (Act’s former deputy leader), who as Chair (now deputy chair) of the Rodney Local Board turned voters against her and any thought of supporting Act.
  
  But what I would like to know, where has been Muller/Kaye and Goodfellow laying down go MPs “discipline, discipline, discipline and unity, unity, unity”.
  
  Anything less equals failure!

  ACT had better be thinking about whips, management and wrap around support because this will be their shot at the big time and the pressure on Seymour as a brand new parliamentary leader will be huge.

If the stakes are indeed this high can anyone explain to my friend why the hotels and motels where the quarantinees are detained and escaping from are not being guarded by security armed with machine guns with orders to shoot to kill any escapees?

  As I have said all along, the threat was/is not as severe for the general population as ardern etc claimed. This is why the health minister, with all the available info and data, felt safe enough to breach lock down with his family and wander the streets and bike trails of Dunedin.
  
  The “covid con” has been a tool for ardern to do the usual labour trick of deflecting scrutiny away from her absolute incompetence.

Early during the ‘lockdown’ me and my Maori mate were discussing the ‘strange’ rules and regulations that the Gov’t had brought in like no butchers etc and we got around to the stupid thing about not being able to go surfing or swimming but the gangs could set up roadblocks. I said why is that do yah reckon. He thought for a minute and then he said Maoris ‘don’t surf’. We both fell about laughing. I went to the fridge and got another couple of beers.

The notion that 7th Century cultural practices followed by Arab tribesmen is the perfect recipe for modern society is absurd. A sick joke.

In many, many ways our culture is better. And I strongly suspect Ms Miles-Mojab knows this but refuses to say it.

While I would have nothing but respect and civility for the women in the link above if I met them in the street – I refuse to ‘celebrate’ or regard as equal cultures that bring these backward views and practices to New Zealand. And regardless of the spin, pleadings and clamourings from Ardern, the Greenies, the Islamic Women’s Council etc etc – they are not us.

We’re better than that.

I remember when

Our nieghbourhood is full of waxeyes (silvereyes, white eyes) this year. This appears to be largely the result of one, or perhaps more, people having bird feeders in their trees.
It would be interesting to know what sort of effect bird feeders have on Bird Week counts.
Although waxeyes would have been noted locally, the numbers dominate this year.

  When I bought my current house I took down the feeder she had. Not long after I saw an increase in fantails. Not scientific, but my impression is there are more. People shouldn’t really put food out unless there is snow on the ground.

    We have a lot in our garden most of the time, along with Fantails, Blackbirds, Tui, Sparrows, Yellow hammers occasionally in the summer, Gold finches, Chaff finches, minahs, rosella’s, starlings and a couple of times a real native pigeon.
    We have a variety of trees and flowering plants, live in the middle of a town area.
    
    Don’t have any ducks or chooks.
    Biggest problem is the bloody neighbours moggy’s.

  We’ve had a bird feeder (bottle) for about five years. It’s popular with local populations of tui and korimako. Their numbers have been increasing.
  
  For the first time this winter there have been flocks of waxeyes around and trying their best to get sugar water.
  
  There’s been more fantails around as well, sometimes in groups up to half a dozen.
  
  There has been a major possum kill going on over the last couple of years which is helping native bird populations and also native bush regrowth.

  Maggy, We have birds waiting for breakfast every morning. They get four pieces of soggy vogels, two apples and bird seed. Consequently the word has got out and daily I now see – My old Black bird “Bob”, Wax eyes, a pair of Doves, Minor birds (a pair), a couple of Finches, a Tui and Sparrows of course.     We have a little garden pond and were warned that we would get an influx of mallards onto it each winter… They didn’t appear for our first couple of years here, but then a pair arrived and hubby began feeding them…The came back for three years, and word got around…. last year he was regularly feeding (poultry pellets) 17…. (From May- December).
    
    This year, we have 4 males that fly in for breakfast and hang about until mid-afternoon… around Lunch time a female arrives, sometimes with her mate in tow.
    On the hottest day in Feb this year a juvenile paradise duck wandered in….. She’s taken up residence and calls us when she needs a feed (tho’ there’s plenty of grazing on our lawns and garden beds) and now controls the activities of the mallards/cats/visitors to our property.

Regarding Hamish Walker’s initial remarks – a press release which Housing Minister Megan Woods called “racist”, saying “I think it’s disgraceful and reprehensible. It’s scaremongering and frankly it’s racist,” Woods said – Walker defended the remarks, saying they weren’t racist – and that his claims could be substantiated.

Stuff has spoken to Walker’s source, a South Island medical professional, who confirmed Southern officials had been told to expect 11,000 people to go through isolation there, although they would not all be undergoing isolation at the same time.
“It’s disappointing the minister doesn’t know where the majority of our live cases in NZ are coming from,” Walker said.
“The minister should come clean and tell the people of Southland and Otago how many of the 18 current Covid cases originate from Asia, which is a region of great risk.
“My focus is on keeping New Zealanders safe,” Walker said.

Woods said Walker was wrong to claim that 11,000 people would be undergoing managed isolation in Dunedin, Invercargill and Queenstown.
“It’s factually untrue. It says there are 11,000 people heading for the bottom of the South Island there’s only six and a bit thousand across the whole of New Zealand at this stage,” she said.

Woods said there had been no decision about putting quarantine facilities in that part of the country.
She would travel to Queenstown and Dunedin next week to assess the “feasibility” of opening facilities there. [1]

Can I suggest the way to deal to the Cancel Culture and the Left in general is to laugh at them. Make a joke of what they say. It winds them up. They have no humour therefore they have no defence to humour.
Ive always done this and find it works a treat. When they see they arent intimidating you which is their agenda they move on and away to another target.

  Humour and ridicule is definitely part of it. But another part of the problem is that capable professionals are hounded/dumped from their jobs and shunned thereafter.
  
  There are a couple of regulatory changes I’d advocate. One is to make a explicit in legislation that any statements made by an individual are theirs personally and do not convey the views of their employer. Following that, make it illegal for employers to dismiss employees on account of any personal views.
  
  Many countries have elements of these protections already, but they tend to be ‘general purpose’. The now-rampant cancel culture demands a more focused response.

    Welcome to the glorious world of a flexible workforce. It wasn’t an issue back in the 80s and 90s when governments were stripping back employee rights but now since it’s people with the same political views as you then their rights need to be protected.

A question for those that have condemned Todd Muller over the last couple of days can they name any Journalist that have in three year taken Jacinda Ardern to task and called her out on the lies she tells, now many of these same Jounalists found delight in trying to blacken John Key for bending the truth so do we have double standards. Many of the Senior Journalists in NZ disgust me with there ethics when they are supposed to be leading examples for those that aspire to become champions of political Journalism. I am not a fan of Todd Muller and it seem that those like Bill English, Simon Bridges and Todd Muller are or have been a thorn in our Media’s approach so the media have taken a orchestrated attack to get rid of them or destroy their credibility.

It’s been a great week for Muller.
1. He has cleansed the National party of Walker who demonstrated he simply wasn’t mature enough to add any value to the party.
2. He got rid of Jian Yang, who by all accounts was a nice guy but his background was a continual risk to the party.
3. He got rid of Boag (for good) and her dirty style of politics.
4. He demonstrated he can make tough decisions and is a leader.
5. He has spoken to the troops and explained to them the expectations for their conduct.
6. And then yesterday announced a well thought out and considered plan for economic development (note: it was a plan not a series of slogans!)

The Nats are much stronger now!

So Chris Hipkins is angry about the irresponsible behaviour of some people in isolation.
At present a population the size of a medium town is in isolation. So it would be expected there would be people with alcohol problems, drug problems and ongoing depression problems amongst this number.
The Government made the rules under which isolation is administered and supposedly made allowances for these people. Therefore they must have foreseen this type of behaviour and planned accordingly.
I am certain those dealing regularly with the above mentioned, would not have expected them all to follow the rules.
It isn’t everyone else’s fault! The system failed on each occasion. Michael Woodhouse did not send himself the list of patient names. The lists resulted from a systems failure and lack of oversight.
The Opposition have a job to do for the voters and the media are making that impossible.

    How can you expect quarantine or managed isolation detainees not to escape when the former Minister of Health thought nothing was wrong with a 24km trip to the beach with his wife and children.
    
    What’s worse, was that he made that trip after his wife suggested it probably wasn’t a good idea, with New Zealand being in lockdown, and him being the Minister in charge of the lockdown, and all that.
