Outbreak of Gun Violence: Warning for public to be vigilant as criminals ” increasingly ready to pull the trigger”.
Wow is this what we expect and have to live with now because of Labours be kind,go soft on gangs and a policy of reducing prison numbers.
A growing number of criminals are carrying firearms- and they are becoming increasingly ready to “pull the trigger” says Police Association President Chris Cahill and he says members of the public need to be vigilant in case they find themselves caught in the middle of a armed situation.

    bollocks- a gun register whether it will be by gun or owner will make zero difference to gangs and criminals – these people live outside of societys laws- the Mobs cree is “give it to me or we will take it”- the only way to get this under control is raid them, harass them continuosly so it becomes an unattractive option to be a gang member.

    That’s an overreaction. The main problem was AR15’s that were Category A when they should have been Category C. That is down to the Police. They allowed it via the “thumb hole” loophole.
    
    Having said that, Jacinda told us that confiscating guns from lawful owners would make us safe, would remove dangerous weapons from the hands of criminals. What’s happened is the opposite.

  The police association have their own axe to grind in this. They have forever been pushing for cops to carry guys. Any comments from them must be taken with this in mind.
  
  If they were honest they would call out the police commissioner and the government for sending all the wrong messages to gangs. Regardless of the work the cops are putting in, messaging about reducing prison populations by reducing sentences or simply not jailing people, alongside gangs being community groups, all serve to increase gang numbers and activity. This was coupled with the gun buyback where the police refused an amnesty on illegal gang weapons, thereby keeping the guns with the gangs.

    I do not think the gangs were ever going to give up their guns. The whole buyback scheme was completely daft: there was an inverse relationship between the chances of a gun being used for ill, and the chances of it being bought back.

        In the Aussie confiscation, they paid 120% of the value, and paid it to anyone who came in with a gun. This was the advice given to NZ by the Ozzie cops.
        Here they paid less than the value, typically around 75%, didn’t pay for now worthless acessories or ammunition, and only to licensed firearms owners. The ones hidden under the bed by non licesned owners are still there. If they had paid for them, some would have been handed in

    A growing number of officers have been “riled” by the Government’s funding of a gang-led methamphetamine programme, questioning whether it’s worth the risk of policing gangs who are armed, dangerous, and dealing the harmful drug.

    Trout of course were not even indigenous, but did that matter?

  The point is, of course, that the virus is now loose in Australia, and New Zealand is next, but the Government is dragging its heels out of terror at making a wrong move. That’s what you need in times of crisis, of course. Abject, snivelling cowardice, but most of New Zealand seems to share that characteristic, so I guess they have got the mood just right.

      One thing that is affecting the pandemic worldwide is that Covid-19 doesn’t seem to fit into a seasonal pattern of spread. The virus is still active in the Northern hemisphere (summer), so we can’t expect there will be respite here just because winter ends.
      
      Sure there are some factors which aid spread in winter (closeness in living and public spaces), but these are not so important as they are for “seasonal” flu.

      Possibly only “due” to pop off if one considers all the retired a burden on workers. I donated for free a decade and a half after retirement to voluntary unpaid community work that actually saved some lives.
      Now living with compromised lung function I am well in the demographic but still very conflicted on the vaccine and that alongside fringe Paramedic experience. As stated previously we dodged a bullet with Thalidomide as swmbo suffered extreme morning sickness in both pregnancies including a bout the morning she birthed our second when the drug was on the market, whew that was close.

    This statement could only be true if:
    
    [1] They made the vaccine 5 years ago and it had passed FDA approval.
    
    [2] Clinical trials had been carried out with double blind tests, where the infection rate was identical for both groups. or:
    
    [3] The clinical trials involved 2 groups of 1000 monkeys (or human volunteers) that were deliberately infected with Covid-19, after one group had taken the vaccine and one had taken a placebo.
    
    [4] The effects on said monkeys (or human volunteers) are tracked over 2-5 years.
    
    Otherwise it is just selling snake oil or coloured lolly water, and trading off peoples’ fear. An no mentioning of the effectiveness of Doxycycline, Ivermection, and other compounds, or urging people to boost their immune systems. If appears that if you have a dodgy immune system you are at risk from both Covid-19 and the mRNA vaccines.

        I think you have your wires crossed, as I said nothing of the sort.
        
        [1] I don’t care if they are billionaires or not.
        [2] I do care if the vaccines create more long term problems than they solve, or are simply ineffective.
        [3] I care if those billionaires got wealthy over selling an untested unproven vaccine.
        [4] With potential billions to be made, There would be temptations to blur the line on side effects.

        14 years. So you apprecite the need for due diligence, and the risk of it all falling over because of adverse reactions.
        
        I am also aware of teams that have had significant investments in new drugs and over many years only to have fallen over because of ineffectiveness and side effects.
        
        How would you feel if that team you mention rushed through the drug in 3 months and launched without FDA approval but ’emergency permission’ on the basis that efficiency and safety data would be filed in 2023-2015. And made billions without real proof until 2023-2025 that it worked? And where long term side effects won’t be visible immediately.

        The technology for RNA vaccines has been in development / trial for 10 plus years. Whilst these are the first vaccines build on this tech it is hardly new or untested.
        
        ’emergency permission’ does not equal unsafe/ untrialled. The Pfizer vaccine was tested on 40,000+ people in multiple countries. It is one of the largest trials. Often normal trials are much less becuase people dont want to be involved. The clinical results were excellent and well reviewed.
        
        Yes we don’t know the longe term effects of a drug, but we never really know that for any drug until it is approved and used in mass.

  A single dose vaccine that doesn’t require a cold chain. So it could be administered just like the flu vaccine is now – in small and medium workplaces, at community meeting points (sports grounds, churches, shopping malls).
  
  But no, we still have Pfizer only. Which you can only get at your workplace if you have 1000+ workers, or certain ethnic/workforce groups and then there still have to be 70 workers on site. No joining up with the next door business either, or allowing family on site to make up the numbers. Crowd control, you understand.
  
  97% of NZ businesses have fewer than 20 employees, according to MBIE (https://www.mbie.govt.nz/assets/small-business-factsheet-2020.pdf )
  
  Of course, if you’ve never worked in or run a business and don’t live on the average wage, taking time out from work twice to travel from your workplace to a vaccination point, wait, vaccinate, wait again, then get back to work/pick the kids up on time – I guess that doesn’t seem like a monumental waste of time and energy.
  
  Perhaps somebody could work out the carbon cost of that, and contrast it with workplace inoculations. Or ask Mr Whippy how they manage to transport cold products to point of sale…

    Just a small point.
    
    Whilst the Pfizer vaccine needs to be stored cold, it comes in refrigerated boxes (dry ice) which are designed to be taken to small venues and dispensed. The vaccine can survive for at least 7 days in said box. Teh vaccine can be issued just like the flu vaccine, you just need two visits.
    
    There is nothing stopping chemists, schools, churches etc from dispensing on site. The issue is with a lack of supply and poor execution from the ministry of health (Bloomfield and co).

      The issue is that they know that many medical professionals do not agree with the vaccines safety, and if the public ask for informed advice, the vaccine uptake rate may plummet.
      
      The public should be very concerned when medical professionals do not agree with the vaccine, nurses refuse to take it, and members of armed forces resign rather than be forced to take the vaccine.

        I don’t know. However the boxes are temp monitored and will tell you if they have become to warm. The process would normally be…
        
        Box of 5000 (they come in a variety of sizes)
        Open the box take out n vials for use and close the box. The vials can be stored in a normal fridge for up to 48 hrs. So a bargain chemist (for example) could get a box on Monday and get out 1000 per day for example. Any left over at the end of the day could be used first the following day before getting more out.
        
        Like I keep saying, this isn’t rocket science. The MOH seems to be making this harder than it needs to be. There is no need to the ‘oh no we have vials that are about to go bad, anyone want them’ process that seems to be common.

      Thanks for the clarification RoboRob. The Ministry says it needs 70 people on a site minimum to be able to vaccinate there (and will only consider such a small site if there are other factors, like shift workers, Maori/Pacific Islanders or distance from another vaccination point).
      
      I would have thought efficient and effective would have been a small vehicle going door to door through our industrial areas. Sounds like it could also be a vaccinator going floor to floor through the commercial buildings.

        There are chemists all over the place (especially malls). You could just setup in the mall and do hundreds / thousands a day.
        
        Also in NZ the idea of needing people to be seperated while they wait before and after vaccination is just loopy too.

    You raise a good point, much of the discussion about today’s protests has missed the fact that many of those involved in organising are not farmers but builders and other small businesses or individuals who have been adversely affected by by bad government over the last decade.
    Admitted Labour governments do show a special hatred for the productive sector, and do provoke protests.
    How effective these particular protests will be depends on a variety of factors, they should at least be better than rolling over and dying.

Let’s look at a few salient points. Firstly. farmers’ tractors generally don’t carry a corporate branding, other than the makers’ name. Nor do their utes. Secondly, many tradies are self-employed, and not in thrall to corporates. Thirdly, those tradies who do employ staff are small business owners who has much as anyone, have had to deal with an uncaring government hell-bent on regulating them into oblivion.

If anything, Clint’s attempt to discredit A Howl of a Protest is likely to increase protest numbers. People are sick of the smears, the misinformation and the innuendo pedalled by the likes of “Hey Clint”.

I am off to join the Groundswell protest. At the heart of the protest are issues of property rights and freedom. We either live in a country where no property is safe from Government’s interference at the behest of any lobby group or we draw a line in the sand and say enough is enough. Property rights are about certainty and security.

Equally the growing encroachment of regulations that are unnecessary and burdensome makes all business too stressful, less economic and intolerable.

Farmers have pulled the country through the Covid crap and deserve better. The present Govt’s attitude toward rural NZ and all business is unacceptable and needs to change.

    Maybe, just maybe, the Ute Tax may cause a tradie or farmer to pause and consider if the ute needs replacing or not, and keep another polluting machine of the roads. After all, most of them are replaced because the tax accountant says so, we too easily forget that a tax avoided is passed on to someone else. If the farmer keeps his ute for another five or so years it will still be going ok and he will have saved quite a bit of capital costs and be able to provide cheaper food.

        Clearly you aren’t a tax accountant- if people pay less tax thats within the rules and the Government (who sets the laws) instead of passing that on- could always become more efficient i.e stop funding gangs (unlike labour when they get in the public service (of which I suspect you are one) ballons).
        Technically taking the Family tax credit reduces a vast amount of peoples tax to the point the are contributing zero re the tax take- are you saying that tax is being passed on to say couples without children and others so people taking the family credit are avoiding tax….?

      No one forgets John, because it isn’t true. Tax isn’t “passed on” if someone else pays lower, or no taxes. For instance, people on $60k or under with kids are generally net income tax beneficiaries, ie: they receive more back from the Govt than they pay in income tax. That doesn’t mean the net tax they haven’t paid is passed on to wealthier people. It just means the proportion of net tax paid by wealthy people is much greater than that paid by less wealthy people.
      Every NZ’r has the right to mitigate their tax as best they can. If a farmer doesn’t have to pay tax because he can structure his affairs, purchases etc in a certain way with in the Tax Act, then he|she is fully entitled to do so. That is what the Tax Act does, give guidance as to what and when you can claim as deductions and what must count as taxable income.

      Muppet. A vehicle like a ute is a legitimate expense fro a tradie or farmer. They need it to do their job. It needs to be reliable and work, every time, every day.
      WHen people say it is “tax deductable” like you do, they are implying that it is free. It is not. At best, you save 28%, being the company tax rate. You have to stump up the whole cash up front to buy it, and 72% of it is a hit to the pocket. Sensible business people watch expenses, as cutting useless waste is the easiest way to increase profits. Knowing quite a few farmers and tradies as I do, they all think very carefully before spending large sums, especially debt financed. The ones who don’t soon discover the error of their ways when the milk price drops or markets change. Milk solds were under $4 a few years ago, after a great year the previus year. Every dairy farmer was losing money that year.
      Something governments don’t understand.
      Worse is that such expenses are usually capitalised, as our greedy government has unrealistically low capital write off limits, so they benefit from the time value of money, and don’t care about the dead weight admin and tax accountants cost.

  I reckon that there are some genuine concerns amongst some folk in the rural community, but just hope that they will not be mislead by the nutters who are popping up amongst them.
  The Agriculture Action Group is active in Gore where the Groundswell movement has been set up. The AAG is leaning heavily on groups such as Groundswell to promote their rubbish views re United Nations Agenda 21 and others.

      Like the 17 sustainability development goals – they look and sound wonderful – we are going to eradicate poverty and have equality – have a sustainable future and look after our environment.
      
      But, if you go to http://www.aag.org.nz (Agricultural Action Group) and go to the link and download the fine print of what that Agenda actually is – and it’s a 352 page document – that covers every aspect of our lives – healthcare, education – that stock takes every single living being and resource and mineral on the planet – so that ‘they’ can control it.
      
      You start to get the picture, because we have not been consulted or involved.
      
      That ‘they’ want to eradicate that which is not sustainable – and that is – the private ownership of land. i.e farming – private ownership of motor vehicles, roading, irrigation, ski fields, golf courses – even the family unit – in their eyes is listed as unsustainable. That this is something that they want to eradicate. So once we read the fine print we become aware of where our Government is taking us – she says that the insane legislation that is crippling our agricultural sector – starts to make sense.
      
      Heather Meri says that everyone has to do their own research – because if you are not aware of what’s in the fine print – and you hear her for the very first time – it will sound quite bizarre and crazy – so the imperative is for all NZers is to see what is being planned for your future – and if you a parent – your children’s future. (and you have been cut out of the dialogue, with zero input).
      
      She says that anyone who today criticises the Government narrative is deemed by the Government to be ‘a conspiracy theorist’ – however when you read the fine print you realise that this is ‘not theory.’

  Income related government subsidies are very widespread across the population. Beneficiaries might be caught up, but so are plenty of others on low incomes who actually get off the sofa and go to work.
  
  There was a story in the media a few months ago about a mother who increased her working hours from 30 to 40 a week, and ended up with a net $50 in her pocket due to reduction in government transfers. (She was philosophical, not complaining though.)

OneEwes reports – new date announced….

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern was due to deliver the long awaited formal apology to the Pasifika People for the 1970’s Dawn Raids, which had been originally set down for June 26th at the Auckland Town Hall.

However, due to an unexpected call from her Dressmaker requiring an urgent fitting for the Wedding Gown, that date has now been rescheduled to August 1st.
The venue remains the same.

        For posterity, let’s review what has happened here.

        2. At 10:32AM, KevO’Brien snidely responded by saying, “So, she’s going to apologise for Norm Kirk?”
        
        What could Kev possibly have meant by this? Clearly, he was “wondering” if, given that the “dawn raids” policy was devised under the Kirk administration — but may actually have commenced under the Rowling administration, i.e., as from 6 September 1974 — would the prime minister, the Rt Hon Jacinda Ardern, also apologise for Norm Kirk?
        
        3. Knowing that the raids took place throughout 1976, i.e., during the first year of the Muldoon administration, peaking, as I recall, about October/November, I responded by querying why she should do that, given that subsequent National prime ministers hadn’t apologised for Muldoon.
        
        4. Yabster, possibly not knowing the history of the dawn raids, but obviously being aware that I like to correct Kev’s memories of the 1975–1984 Muldoon years, suggested I had a Muldoon “fixation”.
        
        5. I responded by pointing out that Kev knew full well that Muldoon continued the ‘dawn raids’ policy of the previous Rowling administration, my clear implication being that there is no imperative for the prime minister to apologise for Norm Kirk, when Bolger, through to English, had not previously apologised for Rob Muldoon.
        
        6. Then, at 4:28PM, Kev pleads ignorance, even though (aged 36) he was a National Party candidate at the 1975 election! It beggars belief.
        
        Kev, you still have a chance to redeem yourself. All you have to do is tell us why you (sarcastically) think the prime minister should apologise for Norm Kirk, even though you are perfectly happy that National prime ministers, subsequent to Rob Muldoon, did not apologise for him!

        I’m very aware that Muldoon was not the architect of the policy, but, under his administration, it was carried out with alacrity, until, finally, even he realised it had gone too far.

I’ve looked at the Bruce Smith, mayor of Westland, UTube video on Three Waters. It is a well considered piece from someone with a lot of the facts. No sane rate payer could support the Three Waters as proposed. The proposal takes over $200 million of rate payer assets for only a $7 million write off of debt in return. The projected costs both for Council and new entity ownership are fiction with Buller, Grey and Westland all supposedly having the same future costs despite being different Councils with different start points. The adverts are pure propaganda full of misinformation that seem to be targeted at kids not ratepayers.

      Hullkiwi..was thinking of Sir Keith as i drove back to Pahiatua from Dannevirke through all that beautiful farm country and too had thoughts of how appalled he would be the way the farmers were being treated by this inept govt and also how his old seat of Pahiatua had been absorbed into the Wairarapa electorate and was now represented by a MP who has proclaimed how proud he is to be a socialist.         Here’s hoping that McNulty is sent packing. My family has over 150 years history with farming in Southern Hawkes Bay (Takapau to Dannevirke). My late father was so proud to have come from the electorate of “Kiwi” Keith.
        
        The National Party needs to do some serious listening to rural NZ, else they’ll find they are not going to recover. What we need is a true “country party” to keep the urban suits on their toes. What I’ve seen of Judith’s advisors I’m not hopeful they are getting the message though.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has announced a whopping $2.5 billion package to ensure local councils are not only “no worse off”, but “better off” from the restructure of water assets.

    Having strung some Christmas lights high in trees bordering the back yard, and having not taken them down, I note that in the summer they are still blinking at 4am to 5 in the morning, but in winter (as now) they last only about 30 to 45 minutes after they come on. Any one catch the 3 new article on 3 waters last night and the $2.5 Billion dollar bribe, basically made out the Government was doing the council and rate payers a favour. No mention of the proposed boundaries being drawn up along iwi lines, no mention of the fact if it happens the infrastructure would be controlled by Iwi (50%) representation on the regulartory board – (Maori make up 10% of the population in the South Island) – democracy be damned.

As we all know this Governments constant policy failures cost us huge money.
Unfortunately it’s not always easy to quantify the cost of these monumental cockups such as Kiwibuild,ending child poverty ,homelessness, Miq and border failures , lack of vaccines etc.
The Government is to adept at deflecting , disembling, obfuscating and lying for us to ever quantify these costs but yesterday the Prime Announcer told us the exact cost of just one policy failure.
$2.5 billion for the simple lack of doing the basic work to present a sound , coherent and well thought out plan to take over council water assets. Mahutas failure has lead to a bailout bribe of $2.5 billion because she didn’t do her bloody job properly.

These are the eight levels of controls by Saul Alinsky to transform a nation through socialism into communism.
I read these and they sound disturbingly like NZ government policy to me.

1. Healthcare – control healthcare and you control the people.
2. Poverty – Increase the poverty level as high as possible, poor people are easier to control and will not fight back if you provide everything for them to live.
3. Debt – Increase the debt level to an unsustainable level. That way you are able to increase taxes and this will produce more poverty.
4. Gun control – Remove the ability to defend themselves from government. That way you are able to create a police state.
5. Welfare – Take control of every aspect (food, housing, income) of their lives because that will make them fully dependent on the government.
6. Education – Take control of what people read and listen to and take control or what children learn in school.
7. Religion – Remove belief in God from the government and schools because the people need to believe in only the government knowing what is best for the people.
8. Class warfare – Divide the people into the wealthy and the poor. Eliminate the middle class.

It seems like every week their is a gun related crime being committed somewhere in this country.

Our PM’s gun buy back scheme has done nothing to stop the crims getting hold of guns and using them on people.

Only the law abiding citizens handed in their weapons anyway while the crims kept theirs.

Don’t be surprised at more gun crimes carrying on in NZ for some time yet.

There’s a FB group called Anti P Ministry run by an ex-gang member. It looks to be largely successful and holds rallies in small towns. A lot of members have been to the worst places possible because of P, its primary leader Brendan Warne is an ex-addict who passed his qualifications as a Minister but he is far from the ordinary. His work is extraordinary and he has been going for years with good success.
He like most will be concerned about the gun crime because whilst once it was a rare event it has become too common even without data the link top is strong, petty crime turning into major events over such things as hi-jacking cars, having firearms in a vehicle turning into a shooting event when the worst-case scenario was maybe 3 years turning to 20 plus.
I don’t know if toxicology tests are made on those arrested for such crimes but surely there must be some statistics at hand now. While at the same time groups like Warne’s support those wanting their lives back. Many members show before and after photos which are quite shocking and people often announce how long that has been off p, for many it is years.
Work for me now, but don’t hold off on the downticks before complaining to the mods about my support for those assisting the baby whale Toa.

      The point is to tackle the problem hard and effectively and not let it balloon out of control.
      
      Once it has ballooned out of control then it needs to be brought back under control. That is going to take more time and effort.
      
      So how could they do it with limited court facilities etc:
      1) Work longer: night courts etc too.
      2) Work smarter: courts are extremely long-winded. They could probably turn around cases much faster.
      
      And prisons: what’s wrong with smaller cells, container cells, etc etc.?

Initial data out of Arizona forensic audit (Biden ‘won’ by 10400):
3,981 people voted despite registered after Oct 15 deadline
11,326 voted who were not on rolls on Nov 7 but were on Dec 4
18,000 voted and then were removed from rolls after election
74,243 mail-in ballots counted with no evidence of ballot ever being sent

They are currently running a final machine recount using 3rd party scanning equipment before they release their tabulated vote results, but prima facie there was large scale fuckery in Arizona as well as Georgia (and probably other swing states too) and it appears likely that Trump won Arizona.

Democrats in Arizona still stonewalling and ignoring subpoenas on some info required to complete audit. Looking very very guilty.

    They have had to fight tooth and nail against State democrat and in some cases Rino stonewalling and threats from the DNC controlled federal govt and govt institutions for 8 months to get access to documents that would allow them to prove fraud, even now they have still not been given access to essential information that judge ordered handed over 5 months back. (Nothing to hide right?)
    
    What we are seeing now from Georgia and Arizona is the result of a very long hard fight to be allowed to investigate, and surprise surprise the evidence long expected on the back of 1000’s of election observer affidavits and published analyses of weird election data anomalies is being backed up by close inspection of ballots.
    
    But the analysis needs to be as complete as possible before going to courts (given how eager they are to ignore the fraud and the heat it will bring on them), and that means somehow overcoming the (DNC and ‘deep-state’) roadblocks preventing access to the needed data – The auditors have never stopped asking for it and have done what they can to get access to it, releasing preliminary results like these has obviously been compelled by the need to gain the political backing necessary to force the rest of the data to be released.
    
    What possible justification is there for preventing comprehensive (preferably bipartisan) auditing to ensure that there wasn’t fuckery – other than guilty knowledge that there was.

  DOC boss Lou Sanson had to be rescued twice when his electric vehicle ran out of charge whilst commuting from Wellington to New Plymouth. I don’t think MSM published this fact? Electric vehicles are useless in rural areas where there are no or insufficient charging points and their battery performance is poor in cold wx. Some gvt agencies who have been forced to use electric vehicles are carrying backup petrol/diesel generators. DOC Stewart Island is one example that made the news. We are burning dirty Indonesian coal and running generators to help keep electric cars running. Doesn’t that defeat the purpose?

Interesting to see the number of people here who have been told they must not attend this protest in company branded vehicles.
There is a real fear out there that there will be some sort of reprisals from this kind government and the corporates.
A rural based organisation to which I belong also sent out a message to all members telling them not to go in branded clothing or as representatives of that organisation.
I object to that.

Am I the only one who missed, until last night, any TVNZ mention of the internet runaway music hit related to New Zealand – the Wellerman sea shanty?

Versions have now collectively reached over 100 million views on YouTube. It’s an old New Zealand sea shanty no-one I know had heard before it was revived recently by a Scots music enthusiast.

Those who have recorded versions range from the Vienna Boys’ Choir to the US Navy Band, from a Ukrainian in a tartan shirt to Germans as pirates and to young women performing modern dance to the song.

The shanty’s about Weller brothers whaling crews in Otago in the 1820s and 1830s, about their supply ship from Sydney, and about a whale chase.

The Wellerman YouTube videos are mostly compiled on TikTok, on which people make, share, compile videos.

At the end of last night’s news our State TV presented an NZ version of Wellerman. It was of a young Maori group.

Unlike the YouTube versions that broadly keep to whaling and seafaring, these young Maori folk turned Wellerman into a propaganda push for New Zealanders to learn Maori language and pronounce Maori place names correctly.

That’s cultural appropriation on a grand scale by TVNZ.

It contrasts with TVNZ’s tut-tutting about cultural appropriation back in the day when violent Maori activists attacked and injured Auckland engineering students in pseudo-grass skirts who were performing a haka lookalike for some satirical purpose.

By the way, has anyone seen anything on TVNZ about Jacinda’s $2 million handout to the criminal gang, the Mongrel Mob?

In addition to sunlight, water and proper temperature, plants need certain nutrients from the soil to grow their different vegetable parts.
For example, plants need potassium for root development, nitrogen for healthy leaves, and phosphorus for flower development.

Pietermaritzburg & Durban in KZN, South Africa, are now taking stock of the mess they are in as well as many surrounding towns.

Factories, warehouses and shops have been looted and burned. People are starting to go hungry.

Unbelievably, most people do not have any stocks of food at home. Basic prepping is a basic survival tactic even in NZ – in South Africa it is essential.

This is going to bite hard in the next few days and hungry people will go looking for food where they think they might find it (even if it isn’t there): in more affluent suburbs – mainly white and Indian.

Some politicians are really trying to push for a racial conflict – especially Zulus against Indians. In the 1940s the Zulus ran amok in Indian areas killing, raping and looting. Indians went into Zulu areas and gave them some back. These animosities are still felt by some and there some politicians would find it politically expedient if this happened again.

FYI: This is where my grandparents had their farm until they were kicked out by apartheid laws in the the 1960s. Not quite the picture it was:

  Correction: My grandparents were kicked off that land in the early 1950s (legislated in 1950). By then my grandfather was dead so it was really just my grandmother.
  
  Of course there is a huge deal made about Blacks, Coloured and Indian people who were kicked off their land but nobody seems to remember that White people were kicked off their land too.

I am currently in MIQ for the 2nd time(1st last October which was actually better)

No there is not a shortage of staff. Or there wouldn’t be if they got their systems shit together.

I have been in systems and processes for over 30 years. Including 7 years in hospitality- think tour groups of 100!!
Its appalling and ridiculous the MIQ systems are. Inefficiency at its highest level!!!! Its a ferkin joke!

Went thru the MIQ process in Cambodia. Yep nominally a 3rd world country. Fast & efficient. Makes NZ MIQ look like dickheads.

NZ MIQ From handling arriving passengers to doing the swabs.

I remember when

Think the Labour Government have seriously underestimated the ‘Groundswell.’
I haven’t seen this many farmers, tractors, utes, industrial vehicles together since the Field Days.
An awful lot of people, largely farmers, talking about what’s wrong with the Government.
Don’t see how it can possibly be good for Labour.
Wouldn’t want to be in one of those blue to red seats.

  1) Farmers are typically not Labour supporters, so no votes lost.
  2) Farmers are a small % of the population, so no votes lost.
  3) Labour have been driving a wedge between rural and cities for ages with classic them vs us divisiveness. Filthy farmers filling our clean rivers with muck, cruel people who exploit our 4 footed brothers and sisters, climate change criminals, etc etc.

      Seats do not win elections. What really matters is the proportional voting part of the ballot.
      
      For the most part, all seats do is change the party make up and even then not by much because most marginal MPs are probably on the list anyway.

    Add to “farmers” the hundreds of thousands of other horticulturalists, vintners, market gardeners, orchardists, transport operators, rural delivery contractors, many and varied rural and farm contractors, shearers, vets, stock & station companies & agents, motor vehicle dealers, fuel suppliers, fertiliser suppliers, fencing suppliers etc etc.
    Plus beekeepers, aquaculturalists and foresters.
    
    God: get all those people together and there could be a new political party before 2023:
    “The Country Party”.

Proud of our province’s great farmer and supporters turn out at the protest today.
Hundreds of tractors, utes, other rural related vehicles and cars as well. They assembled on the outskirts of town from two directions.
The bigger of the two convoys stretched several kilometres to the town centre.
At least 1000 people gathered in the town square in what is a small provincial centre – in front of the District Council buildings.
Interestingly, not one of the 6 rural ward based elected councillors turned up to support the people who voted for them . No local mayor either.
Too busy hobnobbing with the elites at the local government conference to spare a few minutes to speak to the peasants.
