Act concerned by taxpayer funded research into Jacinda Ardern’s Facebook page.
Jacinda Ardern and the Labour party believe they are the entitled and laws are there to be broken when it comes to using devious ways to gather votes.
Just like all the complaints before on Jacinda’s dubious use of taxpayers money like the film on Jacinda ” they are us” our Prime Minister does not know anything about it and it’s not her fault.
Well for Christ sake she is the Leader of our Country the CEO who if in private business in this Country wouldn’t have a job if the excuses of I don’t know and it’s not my fault was used like Jacinda uses.
Asked why taxpayers were paying for her Labour Party- branded facebook page to be polled, Ardern said: ” to be honest I have no awareness or knowledge of that”.
Acts David Seymour says it is ” blatant misuse of taxpayers money “.
“Its not quite corruption but is certainly skating right along the edges of it”, says Seymour.

  The article makes sure to soften the blow with the opening lines from Tova, “The Labour Party is pumping $272m over four years into boosting incomes for low and middle income New Zealanders.”
  But when you think of that, it is pathetic chump change compared to light rail or even the money handed over to Pacific nations for climate change. Each well over a billion $ a pop.
  What ever happened to ‘poverdy’ in NZ?
  Wasn’t it the needy children which caused the PriNZcess to enter politics?
  Is the implication that kiddies need a tram to the airport despite going to school in barefeet?
  
  The former head of International Union of Socialist Youth doesn’t seem that good at her targetting with said socialism.
  Looking forward to a tone-deaf public celebration of the royal wedding, to drive more true socially conscious lefties to the Greens, and swing voters & actual productive folk to more competent centre parties.

    Instead spend all the money building car park buildings and you have just increased the lanes on nearly all the roads by 100% — and halved everyone’s travel time, and almost halved the fuel use — for just $14 billion!!
    And that may include Wellington. Cookie cutter buildings. And they get the money back with car park fees!!

  The top emoticon for the labour party working for families announcement was angry face.
  
  And second why has RNZ our nationally funded news completely banned public comments. Why can BBC, Telegraph, Daily Mail, The New York Times, The Australian, The Atlantic, The Sydney Morning Herald, The Sydney Morning Herald…..hell even the Russian Times all allow public comments. But RNZ has turned them off completely, and Stuff and Herald ban commenting routinely on anything where the government is impeding our civil rights.   @Yvette. What astounds me (actually not really) is the complete lack of adult thinking in the Government (or the MSM) over this.
  Let’s do some simple maths.
  30000 vehicles (I think that is light by the way) want to leave Auckland (Time slot or not) then there are 30000 checks to be made on all of the occupants of the car. Scanning their aps or papers and making sure they are not fakes, say 2 mins per car.
  So 2mins x 30000 = 60000min or 1000hrs or nearly 42days. Even splitting half going north and half south that is 21 days.
  So by the time the last one has left the first will have already come home

    Where will they stop them to check? There’s quite a few ways into and out of Auckland. Surely they realise or not that it will cause delays of hours if not days but maybe that’s the idea to put people off. Can’t wait to see what their solution is, maybe on 29 Nov?

  I think our PM seriously thought she could divide New Zealand without a peep based on all those people changing their social media profiles to show they were jabbed but she has found out this is not the case.
  I wonder how much longer she will stick around as her popularity wanes, Grant will get his shot at being PM next year I think but is it a job he will want come next election when he has to fix this mess?

    It’s not “safe” it was only ever a temporary strategy to give people time to get vaccinated.
    
    Now that everyone has had enough time the cards will now fall where they may; relative to those who did the sensible thing and got vaccinated the stupid minority of idiots can now look forward to around a 20 times higher death rate + ICU admission rate + admission to hospital rate + “lying at home thinking that death would probably be the preferred option if this gets any worse” rate.
    
    So be it. The only downside is that they’ll take up beds that are needed by the sensible. Personally I’d like to see the vaccinated given priority to hospital resources; unfortunately the medical professionals treat people equally – even the profanely stupid.

    I find it odd that last year, those from rest homes who died after contracting Covid were recorded as Covid deaths. This year, the MoH seems to be trying its hardest NOT to categorise and deaths with Covid as pandemic-related.
    
    I guess that’s so the PM can continue to tell the world that we have the lowest per capita Covid mortality of just about anywhere.

    The data has shown that the peak viral load between vaccinated and unvaccinated can be similar. The degree to which infected people infect others also depends on the length of time that viral load is being shed – and the data clearly shows that that period is reduced to about half in vaccinated people.
    
    Your biggest nonsense however is failing to account for the fact that vaccinated people are around 10 times less likely to be infected in the first place. And they can’t pass on to others what they don’t have. So overall, the vaccinated are around 20 times less likely to be responsible for someone else getting infected. Or to put that another way, the idiotic clueless 10% who refuse to get vaccinated can wipe out much of the good work everyone else has put it.
    
    This is the problem when people like you “educate” yourselfs from misinformed sources. I’d like to think that doctors are a damn site more educated about the benefits of vaccination than you; here’s a link to 6733 NZ ones who think vaccination is a no-brainer:

      The “20 times less likely “ shows that “Alan1930” is simply parroting the article from Stuff a few days ago, which in turn was using the computer model of a couple of Australian biostatisticians.
      
      By contrast the recently published article in The Lancet, conducted by Professors of Infectious Diseases and based on a precise, year-long study of several hundred people, yielded the conclusion that there was, at best, a few percentage points difference between vaccinated and unvaccinated people when it came to spreading the virus.
      
      Which conclusion matches the surge in cases being seen in highly vaccinated populations from Ireland to Israel.

      It’s amazing how long reality takes to filter through the fact that Christmas travel (if it happens – note the alternative word often used is “summer travel”), is dependent on many isolated communities accepting it. Whilst many here strut out talk of protests, the only real protests since March last year have been communities shutting out travellers who may have Covid. For many in such communities, Aucklanders could be considered as “covid spreaders.” In reality, they are correct and the political signs are weeks old now, first mentioned by the PM as “local shutdowns” then later by Judith, perhaps in a different context, “parts of NZ” shut down.
      I can’t say it bothers me, I’m reminded of WW1&2 were those in the Pioneer and Maori Battalions travelled “home” to enlist. Nothing like a sense of who and what you are fighting for.

    I seriously doubt that they’re that short sighted. The difference in the consequences of the virus between Auckland and the rest of the country 6 to 9 months from now is going to be about zero.
    
    They’d be up-rooting themselves to go from an area with high infection rates (and the restrictions that go with it) to head to an area that’s about to be exactly the same.
    
    Additionally, other areas don’t have the infrastructure to support large numbers moving; it would drive rents and house prices through the roof; ironically lowering them in Auckland – which would probably attract an influx of people.

  Much as I’d love to see the clusterfuck of them trying to organise time slots for hundred’s of thousands of Aucklanders to leave for holidays, I suspect what is going to happen is that all this has been a delaying tactic until they get the vax-app working. Once this in place, say early December, they’ll walk back from the 90% double-dose aim, claim it was always aspirational (and most of the pathetic media will not question this 180) and say the current rate at that point, probably above 80% is ‘world leading’ and let covid rip. They have boxed themselves into a corner – locking Aucklanders up over summer is game over so can’t happen. They can’t fudge the numbers enough – all DHB’s at 90% won’t happen, if ever, until Jan or Feb at best. Therefore, they’ll blink, open the gates and spin furiously that opening up at around 80% was always the plan and everything else was aspirational…just following science etc. Labour – crap at doing, world leading at spinning!

  Very good article. It reaffirms the questions that need to be asked but are constantly shut down. WHY is Ivermectin not allowed to be discussed, even worse, maliciously demonised as a “horse medicine” – a patent lie.
  WHY did the NZ government ban the importation of antibody testing? WHY was HCQ and Ivermectin effectively banned in NZ? WHY did the government indicate their would be exemptions to vaccination but then all the relevant organisations sent letters to their members specifically telling them NOT to issue exemptions?

    Antibody testing, in particular, provides information. Antibody tests are not treatments. Banning antibody testing is suppressing the information that they provide.

      As for the ‘outlier professor’, Professor Robert Clancy ran the leading mucosal immunology research unit in Australia and focussed on protection against infection of the airways and the relevant immune response. He was awarded the first DSc from the University of Newcastle for that work, and an Order of Australia. He sounds like a serious, eminently credentialed individual to me.
      
      To your claim that this article ‘flies in the face of tens of thousands of medical professionals – thousands of who have far more relevant qualifications than this gentleman’, perhaps you could substantiate that with some evidence? Where exactly are the papers showing the lacking efficacy in respect of Ivermectin from these ‘tens of thousands of medical professionals’?

    One of the reasons that Ivermectin has been banned is it is an effective treatment for the COVID19 virus. Pfizer applied for, and was given Emergency Use Authority for the use of its vaccine by the FDA and WHO, and governmental health agencies.
    However, an EUA can ONLY be given when there is no ‘recognised’ effective treatment available, and Ivemectin fell into that category with regard to the Covid19 illness. If Ivermectin was recognised, there would be a much smaller market for the vaccine, and then where would Pfizer be?

He’s got a bee in his bonnet because he’s being shunned by most of the medical research profession so he hops on his soapbox whenever someone gives him an audience.   Even saying he “invented” mRNA is a stretch, a better description may well be “he was one of the first to discover it”. Either way it certainly doesn’t make him an expert in COVID-19 vaccines – and it certainly doesn’t make what he says is correct when it flies in the face of what tens of thousands of his colleagues are advising.

Two prominent virologists said on Saturday that Germany should reintroduce free testing for all rather than restrict access to venues to only vaccinated people.
Allowing only vaccinated and recovered people to enter venues, a system known as 2G, would give people a “false sense of security,” Jonas Schmidt-Chanasit, a virologist at Hamburg University, told Deutschlandfunk radio on Saturday.

He said that vaccinated people could become infected and transmit the virus, even if the probability was lower than with unvaccinated people.

Schmidt-Chanasit said that the only secure option is a 1G system – that is to test everyone, whether vaccinated, unvaccinated or recovered.

He warned the government against abandoning testing, saying that Germany instead needed a “test offensive.” He also criticized the fact that free rapid testing had been abolished in mid-October.

Hendrik Streeck, head of virology at Bonn University, also said that the 2G rule was fraught with problems.

“The vaccinated have the feeling they are no longer part of the pandemic and behave accordingly,” Streeck told Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland (RND) on Saturday.

“The second problem is the unvaccinated, who will be excluded and are thus even less likely to get tested.”

“If unvaccinated people are not allowed to participate in social life, they may organize parties at home. Then, chains of infection can no longer be controlled at all,” he warned.

Streeck also called for the reintroduction of free Corona tests.

Saxony became the first German state to announce on Friday that it would introduce 2G rules for venues such as restaurants and bars.

Meanwhile, Austria decided on Friday to introduce a nationwide 2G rule. People without vaccination or proof of recovery will no longer be allowed to visit pubs, hairdressers and events from Monday.

Several politicians and heads of medical organisations have called for nationwide 2G rules in Germany.

    This has always been the case, particularly in the authoritarian countries. One Trofim Lysenko comes to mind here. But non-authoritarian countries were not spared either, anyone remembers eugenics? Sweden practiced sterilization of “useless” citizens well into 1970’s. US did the same to its prisoners until 1960’s. More recently, even in NZ there’re many instances of “repressed memory syndrome” being touted as based on “science”.

    I think the purpose of science hasn’t changed, but the definition certainly has. The number of people using the scientific method has plummeted under the pressures of politics, easy money and ideology.

      developing models are common to many forms of investigation or research.
      
      However, the scientific method requires critiquing and testing of hypotheses /models and ultimately
      rejection, refinement, or provisional acceptance of the hypothesis.

    This the unfortunate result of being seen as a “cost” rather than what they are – value providers.
    
    Whenever people, or the function they perform, are seen as a cost then the goal becomes to minimise costs. This tends to start a race to the bottom. Wages go down, being screwed around increases and the operational margins get hammered.
    
    Disruption of any sort causes a lot of problems and then prices go up again.

      As Master I run the vessels Budget and crew. Crew costs to join/depart have gone from an avg 2-3k US$ too 30K+ US. Taken into account Covid testing, Quarantine and sky high flights etc.
      The insurance industry is very worried about the high casualty rates and costs which essentially boils down to right crew for right job, Not too mention severely fatigued Seafarers over contract.
      The Sea and Weather waits for No man and can be a relentless 24/7 operations.
      As previously posted it is a Central planning issue and NOT a Supply chain issue.

This is despite the fact that 66.9 per cent of Germany’s population has been fully vaccinated, which puts it on par with the UK (68.1 per cent).

  Over there they have about 6x the number of ICU beds per capita to NZ.
  That’s why there’s a nervousness about opening up.

  This leaves a few pitfalls for the government.
  
  Keep Auckland isolated.
  
  This would, as case numbers continue to chug along, be consistent with the public health narrative.
  
  This is likely to be met with growing civil unrest from the people of Auckland and the team of $55 million can’t maintain the fiction that they are solely “Anti-Vaxers” for very much longer.
  
  There will also be considerable pressure from the rest of New Zealand, in desperate need to some Auckland holiday dollars.
  
  Their second option is to open everything up.
  
  This is going be a big shock to the half of the population that they have been scaring silly for the past 18 months, there will be fear and confusion which will ultimately turn to anger as they start to figure out they’ve been lied to.
  
  I expect local government labour sycophants are already trying to figure out how to distance themselves from the Labour brand in order to avoid a blood bath.
  
  Labour’s only recourse is to Bribe, Bribe, Bribe the taxpayer with our children’s money.

Light Rail.
Oh now you’ve got me going so there.
From the Auckland CBD to the Airport, Michael Woods has produced his 3 answers.
He has got 3 different propositions, all highly flawed.
There is above ground all the way which will cost lots and cause devastation on roads like Dominion and others in the CBD. This is called light rail and is only $9 billion.
Then there is light Metro which follows a dedicated route and is above ground and underground …a snip at $16.3 billion.
There is tunneling option which is $14.6 billion……to me this sounds like it is a version of heavy rail!
So Mr Wood reckons there will be a decision by Christmas.
But hang on…..who will use these options?
Will the guests at the Hilton , the Pullman or the Grand Millenium walk, dragging their suitcases, to the Light Rail terminus at the Wynyard Quarter…..no they will get a taxi and then continue straight to the airport.
Will the residents of Herne Bay and Remuera…….hmmmm, still need a taxi ride to even get to the rail route, so may as well continue all the way.
Will the residents of Mangere, Onehunga and Mt Roskill be taking the light rail to the CBD to in the main attend at industry there; no…… the light rail doesn’t go to Penrose, Mt Wellington or Manukau, so a bus or heaven forbid a car is way more practical.
When will these fabulous projects even be started let alone completed…….5, 10 perhaps 15 years and then there is the inevitable cost overruns typical to all Government and local government projects.
We have here a junior Government minister who will commit vast amounts of money , materials and untold labour resources to a vanity project that has no credible basis.
If the tunneling option is taken little Jimmy Shaw would not be well pleased with the amount of concrete required….. the making of cement takes vast quantities of the evil coal . So that is another reason to not proceed with a country ruining project called Light Rail.
So the $608,000,000 per kilometre or the $7978 for every NZ household is looking like a pretty bad deal.

    Well, I did. In order to see my Mum for the first time in three months the rest home required evidence of double Vax, covid test within 72 hours prior and a temperature check once there.
    We are both double vaxxed. I wonder what the end game is. Maybe that is her lot now, a half hour visit per week from a single visitor only, masks, no contact. I don’t see how 90% double vaxxed and the traffic light system will provide any more safety or any more freedom.

  I had a test maybe six months ago because I had a cold and I needed to see the doctor about something else.
  I didn’t think the clinic would appreciate me turning up coughing & sneezing & farting without confirmation it wasn’t covid-19.
  I was apprehensive about a cotton bud being ground around in the back of my nose, but it was no worse than a smack in the face by Mike Tyson.

But COVID-19 cases aren’t falling in California anymore. They have climbed back up to the CDC’s blood-red “high” level of virus transmission as the highly contagious Delta variant continues to wreak havoc.

Meanwhile, the virus has gone quiet in Deep South states that abandoned mask orders, opposed vaccine mandates, posted lower vaccination rates and saw larger outbreaks over the summer. California’s case rate is now well above Texas’ and double Florida’s, which along with the rest of the Gulf Coast are down to the CDC’s orange “substantial” transmission level.

Last week (for the reporting period ending Thursday 22 October) the void between the 30m seal and the portal emergency door was backfilled with gravel, the service pipes were hung, the emergency door was closed, ventilation ducting and transition removed and the main fan has now been turned off permanently as ventilation is no longer required as you can only walk in up to 5 metres. This 5m area is still classified as an underground coal mine and all regulations still apply.

Re a recent submission here by my good self, in which I discussed The Lucy Principle – i.e. people who tell teh truth can be relied upon as logically truthful, I’ve hit a sticky spot.

I made two unconfirmed allegations in two separate inputs: they were both false.
One Italy had revised its covid death figures
Two Pfizer’s CEO had been arrested for fraud.

What have I learned?
Take nothing for granted and check your facts.

That’s my two slices of humble pie for the day, I will return with bombast and satire soon.

However, I can confirm that Sue Grey’s outstanding effort to get Section 7A into the Public Health Act (allowing for exemptions from vaccination) has been revoked – and will be subject to sign off by Bloomfield for 6 monthly periods.

Which suggests to me they have absolutely zero intention of returning us ‘to normal in 2022 or 2023.

Thank goodness we have electronic voting technology – as I’m sure it will be necessary for our next election. Can I get a “Yes Please!” from everyone who considered this perfectly ok for the USA recently?.

There are new drugs, and some old ones, which can effectively treat Covid and prevent hospitalisations and death and Pharmac is buying them. Pfizer has announced a new drug which is very effective which is exciting.

If this is all true then there is no reason for any mandates or any other restrictions. The restrictions are there to “protect” our health system. We have the tools now. So what’s the point? Of course the media won’t ask so maybe I will have to shout it out when the PM is in town next week 😉

If the bars and restaurants open mid December what hope do they have if Auckland is empty. I actually predict level 4 end of November for a sharp 2 weeks before allowing full freedom on Dec 14 with no restrictions.

Why hasnt the Government expanded its thinking on getting Kiwis home?

How about making Queenstown a “”sandbox””.
Get all the locals vaxxed and allow the place to cater for unlimited inbound vaxed and tested Kiwis from low risk places.

Returnees would get to stay in the town area for 5 days, get another negative test then go home.

Vaxed families could join them for the 5 days.

Hospitality/jobs would be winners
Kiwis coming home would be winners.
The governmnet might look good!

Then leave all that other MIQ for peeps coming from dodgy places.

    I spoke to my nephew the other day. He lives in a small town in the middle of Southland which is 46% fully vaccinated.
    He is overweight, diabetic & unvaccinated. Mr Bug loves guys like him.
    He’s not anti-vax, but doesn’t want to put himself out.

Thinking Christmas, an issue that has not been dealt with is the early doses. March doses will be nine months old at Christmas, good for protection from a serious outcome but not much good at preventing infection.

Those vaccine certificates won’t mean much.

I wonder if the vaccinated but infected are any more likely to asymptomatic?

Before this pandemic came along I read a novel by Scott Turow called The Last Trial.
The gist of the story was a guy had come up with a wonder cure for cancer that was a real life saver for thousands of patients who would otherwise have died.
The problem was during the trials a very small number of people had died from the side effects and he’d used some jiggery pokery to cover it up.
His lawyer was a mate of his and it was his last trial.
There was a side issue, brought up in the book, but not relevant to the trial.
The drug was taken off the market meaning multiple people would now die from cancer as opposed to the small number who would die from the drug.

From the Herald: “Unitec student loses both parents to virus in two weeks”

A Unitec student who lost both his parents to Covid-19 in a space of two weeks in Sri Lanka is now faced with a $25,000 bill for their hospitalisation and funeral costs.

Isuru Bodahandi, 34, said he is at a loss to how to pay the debt and is has taken on an all-nighter job as an airline online ticketing agent while also studying full time during the day.

Bodahandi first got a call from his mother saying that his 78-year-old father had a fall and was taken to hospital and later to intensive care on August 16.

“He tested positive for Covid-19 and less than 24 hours later, my father passed away,” Bodahandi said.

“This came as an absolute shock because my dad was a healthy person, he rides a motorbike and some people even said he was just like someone who is in his 40s.”

Both his parents were vaccinated, Bodahandi said.”

The numbers in the latest UK Health Security Agency vaccine surveillance report look really, really bad when it comes to vaxxed vs unvaxxed. It seems that Covid is way worse amongst the vaccinated. It’s so bad that the report has dumped graphs showing the numbers and the Office of Statistics Regulation has written to those producing the report demanding that they somehow make the numbers look better –

We focused on the risk that the data presented on rates of positive cases for those who are vaccinated and those who are unvaccinated have the potential to mislead – and indeed we noted that these data have been used to argue that vaccines are ineffective.

  My issue with those numbers is that we don’t know how many naturally immune people are in either group. If, as is possible, there are far more naturally immune in the unvaccinated population, then the numbers might well be misleading.
  
  Given that by some estimate up to 98% of the adult population in the UK have antibodies from vaccination or infection, then there should not be many actual “unvaccinated” meaning unprotected people left.

Why is it that nobody is stating the obvious: that the daily “cases” of CV-19 are simply the known tip of the iceberg.

There will be hundreds, if not thousands, of people out there who (a) either have CV-19 and have no symptoms and are therefore not tested, or (b) who have already had CV-19 and are now immunised for good.

If this is the situation then anything other than treating sick people is a waste of time.

  The UK Health Security Agency (formerly Public Health England) publish weekly seroprevalence data by age co-cohort. It is very useful information, showing the percentage of the population that have vaccine provided and naturally provided antibodies. It would be good to have that here, although I suspect we’re not even capturing the data from routine blood testing.

It is an ongoing dilemma to me why so many people support Cindy, given that she runs the worst government in our history.

I try to get clues from the socialists who post here – for example the Batty Boy, the Milky Bar Kid, and Cosy. Alas, these posters don’t post anything about their love of Cindy. Instead, their posts are mainly infantile jibes against centre-right contributors. Perhaps they want their posts to result in the opinion that socialism supporters are unintelligent, churlish and childish. So be it.

Anyway, it now seems that we may have reached a turning point. Support for Cindy appears to be finally falling fast. I’m not sure why. Her performance has been atrocious since day one, so why it should suddenly collapse now, is hard to fathom…

It should be possible to ‘easily’ sue neighbours who make your life hell… if they have no money, the owner of the property pays. The house can be put through a forced sale if necessary. Penalties should reach up to the value of the property. Such is the nightmare that anti-social neighbours can cause.

Other associated laws need updating hand-in-hand too, such as eviction laws.

Why don’t we see Jacinda talking about this? Things that make a real difference in peoples right to peaceful enjoyment of their home?
