Jacinda Ardern at it again telling people how good she and New Zealand are at fixing problems like the Russian invasion of Ukraine and how to fix it.
What the world really doesn’t know is Jacinda Ardern our Prime Minister talks a lot on what she would do which normally ends up doing nothing and moving on to make more problems for her to talk about how she will fix them.
Jacinda Ardern is all talk no substance and you only have to look at the mess she is making in New Zealand to understand she is a expert at everything and a master of none and likes to blame everyone else for what ever goes wrong.

How can the darling of the New Zealand and World Media be so inapt you might ask but you only have to look at her track record to see, Jacinda can’t be wrong and can’t be told , criminals have more power than hard working taxpayers, wants to make Maori a equal partnership in Government dispite having just under 17% of the population and is prepared to sell out our water rights to Maori even though over 70 % disagree, Jacinda Ardern our Prime Minister is all hui no doey a expert in everything and a master of none but is prepared to tell the World how to stop Puton and Russia but can’t fix the ordinary problems New Zealander’s face.

    I’m no fan of Clark or Cullen but you do them a massive disservice by casting them in the same league as Ardern. They were basically competent managers who did some damage to New Zealand’s prosperity. Ardern is destroying us economically and socially. She’s in a league of her own when it comes to incompetence, hubris and arrogance.

      While NZ is certainly going downhill rapidly under Arden, the rot started with Clark.
      
      She is a member of the nasty, global, socialist, elite cabal. Ideologically she is the architect and sponsor behind Ardern. Proof proof the left will cry, where is your proof?
      
      Look no further than her position in WEF think tank Chatham House and her presence in Davos this year. Her sponsorship of Ardennes career, and how she was the natural replacement to go to the US in Ardens place. Surely that would have been the Deputy PMs or Foreign Ministers role not some has been ex PM from 6 terms prior.
      
      Clark is undoubtedly more intelligent and capable than Ardern — but the teacher is well pleased with her student.

        One of Helen Clark’s signature achievements was to systematically destroy credible alternative Labour PMs. Hence, when the voters finally saw through her & voted her out, the cupboard was bare. Labour went through a series of incompetents before latching on to Jaxxie in some kind of strange reverse miracle.

        OTOH the net government debt had been ground down to practically nothing by Cullen running surpluses and paying down debt. Grumbles from many that the money should have been used for tax cuts. The same people were scratchy about how Kiwisaver and the Super Fund were also taking out money that could have been used for tax cuts.

  NZ isn’t too small to have a nuclear opinion. Kim Jong-un runs another small country, and big countries listen to him.

  Regardless, in the run-up to the 2023 election nukes and Ukraine won’t count as French bomb tests did politically for Lange.

OT staff are considering striking (Herald yesterday) over pay, workload and cultural issues. The latest annual report shows that as at June 2021 it employed 4977 people and had 5250 children in its care. That’s an interesting staff / client ratio.

Meanwhile OT has been hammered by The Treasury on how it is spending the $1.1 billion extra funding in the 2019 Budget, saying the cost of putting a child into OT’s care was increasing without any appreciable improvement in outcomes.

Sounds like OT staff and management should take a good hard look at themselves and make sure proposed strike action is correctly targeted.

  OT waste all their time on Maori wonderfullness efforts and activities and pussyfooting around abusive drugged up irresponsible parents and whanaus. Gotta question the whole approach of leaving kids with shit families. Maybe they’d be better off with care in a high standards institution – state run residential schools where they get cared for and educated properly by people who give a shit.   The problem I have with DPFs comments is that ship has already sailed. The liberal elite has already lost the plot. Our settled opinions are insane.
  
  For example :
  – A child should be able to choose their own sex and have surgery to change to their self appointed gender identity.
  – A man can marry a man and be husband and husband
  – The world is ending because the temperature has gone up 1°C. We should give up all fossil fuels and return to pre-industrial civilisation in response.
  – It doesn’t matter what form your family takes. On no account should we prefer the traditional family of mum and dad and the kids.
  – Pre European Maori society was marvellous and we should change everything to be more like NZ was in 1839.
  I could do this all day. However if you disagree with any of the above you are a hateful person with an irrational phobia of some kind. 🤔

    Wallis is a really interesting speaker to listen to – I heard him talking about the changes that occur in the teenage brain from childhood and then into adulthood. Basically it goes through massive rebuild and for a period the thinking part of the brain loses function and the emotional part of the brain compensates. The brain is similar in function at this point to a 2/3year old. He said typically girls brains mature to adulthood much earlier than boys, around 18 for girls and 24 for boys.
    
    So based on this talk I would have thought if we want adults making decisions then we would stick with a voting age of 18 and maybe raise it for boys.
    
    Hard to understand how he is advocating for lowering the voting age.

        Hi Alan, I agree that most teenagers like most humans are good people.
        
        However I find the research being done that uses modern scanning technology to understand more about brain development fascinating. There is no doubt that the brain develops and changes throughout our lives and the ability to photograph this and analyse it is a very recent activity. It isn’t crap that some radical changes occur in the brain during teenage years, just as they do in other parts of the body. Can’t write that off as crap.

      Meh. Three points to be made after reading that.
      
      First, it smacks of the usual Lefty claim that we’ve heard about every generation since the late 60’s: “The Youf Are With Us”. I began to grow sceptical of that claim as I wondered who all the people were voting for Thatcher, Reagan, then Clinton, Blair and so forth – and not Tony Benn, Corbyn or Bernie Sanders. In the 1980’s and 90’s at least it turned out it had to have been a lot of those 60’s Boomers.
      
      Second, as such there’s the usual whiff of “Resistance is futile” for all the ideas they sprout.
      
      Third, the reason so many Boomers (and then Gen X’rs) became more right-wing with time was less to do with age than the experience of getting screwed over by the dopey ideas they’d held in their youth. The same thing is going to happen here as this crowd moves from…
      
      While not even one-third of older Baby Boomers in America personally know somebody who is transgender more than half of Zoomers do
      
      …to “I don’t want my five year old child to be sexualised at school”.
      
      In case Mr Goodwin has not noticed even gays and lesbians are starting to fight back against the Trans movement and given how much Gen Z loved Harry Potter I’d be surprised if they’re willing to burn Rowling at the Trans stake. It’ll also be fun to see their reactions when they, in turn, are burned by their own theories because they can’t live up to them.
      
      As for Mr Goodwin himself, I did a Wiki check and lo and behold…:
      
      He is the co-editor of The New Extremism in 21st Century Britain (Routledge), and co-author (with Roger Eatwell) of National Populism: The Revolt Against Liberal Democracy. He is also the author of New British Fascism: Rise of the British National Party (Routledge) and co-author (with Robert Ford) of Revolt on the Right: Explaining Support for the Radical Right in Britain (Routledge, 2014). His research has appeared in the New Statesman, The Guardian, The Westminster Hour and Prospect magazine.
      
      In other words, these kids are his personal wish fulfillment. TBF I see he’s also involved with the British “Free Speech Union” so we’ll see what he thinks after he gets done over by his Gen Z students for speaking a little too freely in class.

        They’ll be like every other generation of kids before them.
        
        Revolution today, agitators at Uni, get a job, grow up, slowly mature and eventually become what they rebelled against. Some stay the course, for sure, but most grow up, stop being, well childish, make the best of things and get on with it. Before they know it they’ll be in their late twenties / early thirties, flying all over the place, weekends in Sydney, trips to Fiji etc, but sure, driving an EV and having solar panels on the roof to assuage their guilt – because apparently getting poor third world kids to mine rare earth minerals is the way to save the planet i guess?
        
        The only difference between the current generation of kids and previous generations is that previous generations of kids didn’t have the ridiculous media hanging on their every word thinking they were some font of wisdom.
        
        The world would be a far better place if the media focussed less on the inane thoughts of kids and just let them be kids and realise they’ll grow up!

    I think we need to get back to basics and school kids shouldn’t be allowed a day off to protest – why is the Govt allowing this?
    
    Bet the Govt wouldn’t if a bunch of kids wanted a day off to protest covid-mandates or 3 Waters etc – my point being who determines which types of protests are “acceptable” (and which aren’t), granting children a day off school? Just how about school children stay at school and learn!
    
    The other thing is, these protests are aligned with the Green Party. So again similar thing – which political parties have the right to manipulate school children? Should other political parties be given that privilege? Again, just how about school children stay at school and learn!
    
    The other thing is, these protests are manipulation on a grand scale. After all their calls to “cull the cow herd by one-half” … said by NO kid ever (unless said kids are being manipulated by the political/environmental left, which they are).
    
    And these protests are the height of ignorance and absurdity. Everything they ask for won’t change the climate.
    
    But worse these protests are self-fueling mental health issues and depression – look at the despondent protesting kids who seriously think the world is going to end as they know it? Frankly the adults manipulating them should be chucked in jail (ok maybe not jail but held to account)!
    
    So how about this, if school children (and greenpeace type adults) want to effect their own change in their own way (and feel virtuous), how about not buying petro-chemical products, such as fancy cellphones, laptops and macbooks, then walk everywhere (no to using trains and buses as they are no better than using cars as they are all industrial products), and go set up their own commune and live out in the whops and leave the rest of us, including the farming community, alone!

  You are obviously not aware that about 80 countries are parties to the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons. New Zealand is among these nations. It was actually signed by the National government as one of the founding parties of the Treaty..
  At the moment these nations are basically from Latin America, Asia, Africa and the Pacific. Only a small number of European nations are parties, though most of the smaller European nations are dialogue partners.
  The intent of the treaty is to make the possession of nuclear weapons unlawful. This has been achieved with chemical and biological weapons. There is obviously a long way to go with nuclear weapons, but to dismiss the aspiration as childish is of itself childish.

      I fundamentally disagree. In fact back in the early 2000’s a former USAF 4 star officer General Butler, who was the Commander of Strategic Forces argued the the nuclear deterrent was a myth. That it wasn’t nuclear deterrent that kept the peace.

      Look, I get the argument for nuclear deterrence, but I also get the argument against.

I had the misfortune to listen to Wallace Chapman and the Panel yesterday. He had Simon Wilson and someone else on so I knew it wasn’t going to be an even playing field and it wasn’t. But they interviewed Fran O’Sullivan about the Mood of the boardroom survey ( which I didn’t think the TV news channels mentioned last night) and she dealt to them. Simon asked something and Fran told him he was being facetious. Wallace was trying to get her to admit the mood and findings were low because the Govt has just come out of the worst crisis facing any Govt and she pretended not to understand his question. She sounded fed up with them by the end.

Thinking about public policy it seems to me eventually, as the range of “isms” are tried and fail that transformation rarely works and the middle ground is where we arrive.

For example, climate change. The alarmists say the world is ending, the deniers deny everything. When the adults take back control we will mitigate what we can gradually and economically and the world will be better off.

Regards Maori aspirations. Cogovernance is an extreme demand. In contrast the democratic extreme position would be a referendum on every decision. While this may work for Switzerland I don’t think it would here. Our current system is already a compromise. It is a three year tyranny, with checks and balances, broken by a democratic election. At some stage the adults will wake up to this.

Conservatism is a terrible name for the middle ground approach. It does not imply a lack of progress, it is more a reflection, gained through living, that extreme transformational approaches are generally counter-productive.

Here are some of the facts Ross.
Deaths:
2016/8: 90,982, 91972, 92,185 = 275,139
2020/2: 98,124,91958,91,300(est) = 281,382
So a difference of 6,243.
Worldometer shows Swedish covid deaths to date as 20,147.
The 2022 (est) is based on figure to 29 July extended.
Subtracting 275,139 from 281,382 leaves a total of 6,243.
Worldometer 20,147 less 6243 indicates that perhaps 69% of Sweden’s covid victims would have died by now regardless.
If we halve the 6243 number we get a New Zealand equivalent to compare with our covid deaths – plus this year’s excess deaths.
Not a lot to make a noise about really.

Ardern and Trudeau are the most obvious. The Ken and Barby of world politics.     We live in a very small street. 10 males between the ages of 24 and 70. 2 major heart attacks. Both within 4 weeks of second jab. Both survived but noticeably weakened, even a year later. Of course correlation is not causation, but stat like these need further investigation, not more advertising dollars pushing a jab that does nothing beneficial for the majority of people.

    To be very sure that 80,000 were going to be saved you would have to have done a lot of research. That figure was thumbsucked.
    
    As I remarked at the time, for 80,000 to be saved even using the exaggerated IFR figures in Italy NZ would have had to have a population of 55 million.
    
    And as we know, some time back Italy down graded
    the Covid death toll from 130,000 to about 3700 .
    
    With the IFR that has now been established, to save 80,000 lives, NZ would have had to have a population of 540,000,000. It would appear Shaun Hendy got paid $1.X million for throwing a dart at a dart-board, with no reference to reality.
    
    When making prediction, scammers always use “could”, “may”, “might”, “it’s possible” to cover their butts.

      JackRabbit – if you get a chance, read the paper which Hendy and his pals sent to Ardern. It’s dry reading, but the part I found interesting was their constant referencing of the completely disastrous and subsequently peer ridiculed, Imperial College forecasts by Neil Ferguson.
      Hendy referenced it at least half a dozen times in an attempt to justify his own predictions and to give them some semblance of authenticity and accuracy.
      Read this discussion of the computer code used in the Neil Ferguson Imperial College paper.
      
      The model. What it’s doing is best described as “SimCity without the graphics”. It attempts to simulate households, schools, offices, people and their movements, etc. I won’t go further into the underlying assumptions, since that’s well explored elsewhere.

In Blenheim from where it originates it retails for $39.

The Blenheim retailer doesn’t pay import duty into the USA or freight costs to the other side of the world.

Further to yesterdays gleeful post regarding Trump being charged for fraud. Firstly, James has taken a civil case, therefore the penalties will be damages if Trump were to lose. James has claimed that Trump and Trump entities will be barred from doing business in New York. That is not a penalty that can be handed down in a civil trial. Secondly, she claimed that in 2011, Trump valued 40 Wall St at $524m when it should have been $200m. Comparable buildings in NY that sold in 2011, 230 Park Avenue, $750m, Park Ave Plaza, $569m, 340 Madison Ave (sold 2010), $570m. This list is not exhaustive. And 40 Wall St is an iconic building, the others aren’t. Thirdly, the Banker was Deutsche Bank, and the Trump organisation’s valuation statements apparently had standard accountant’s disclaimers all over them (this statement is not audited and the parties to which it is presented should do their own due diligence etc). And last but not least, James’ poll numbers have cratered to the point she is trailing her Republican challenger.

Since 1800 the CO2 ppm have increased from 283 to a total around 419.
The world population has increased from 1 billion to about 7.97 billion (8 billion in November).
It is estimated that since 1960 the world’s Urban population has increased from 1.02 billion to 4.46 billion.
In the same time period the population jumped from 3 billion to 7.97 billion.
Does any of this suggest that there may be reasons other than GHG for the number of people affected by ‘natural’ disasters.

Just watched the Wellington mayoral debate on TV3 (The Nation).
Made me want to weep, nash my teeth and put the house on the market !!!!
I would rank the calibre of the three leading candidates minus 5 out of 10.
Eagle brazenly rorts the political system, Foster is the great ‘doer’ (who has a 6 year plan and its only 3 years through) and Whanau is the great ‘uniter’ who will have a go at Parliament if she misses out cause ‘she needs a job’ !
These three make Poto Williams look very competent.
Go Ray Chung ( I THINK thats his name ).
Guess the only light at the end of the tunnel is that we will hold the Ranfurly Shield over summer (our longest reign I think !).

In Britain, the pound dives to a 37-year low in response to the radical tax-cutting British budget.

In America, Wall Street stocks dive to their lowest of the year, oil prices fall. European and Asian stock markets also fall.

In NZ, the sharemarket also fell, less drastically, but the Kiwi dollar is down to US57.4c.
