      Ardern’s staff were given special training on how to foil OIA requests.
      
      Basically, instead of using texts/email, they were told that potentially awkward info should be communicated over the phone, or in person.

  Seriously? Oh well, just as well I had no plans to watch it as it would be a good minute wasted (turn on television, watch for one minute in bemusement trying to understand what they are saying, give up and turn the TV off again).
  
  If the presenters of TV1 Breakfast want to speak in Maori then good for them – it doesn’t bother me as I don’t watch the program anyway. However, if I did regularly watch it that would lead me to turn off the television for the very simple reason that I can’t understand it.
  
  That’s not racist. It’s not a sign of latent White Supremacy™. It’s a very simple matter of being unable to understand the language and comprehend what they are talking about. So why would I watch something that I quite literally cannot understand? I know people love to howl “Racist!” whenever such matters are discussed, but as far as I’m concerned it’s really very simple – there’s no point in watching a program that I literally cannot understand.       Same here. SWMBO insists on TV1 News at 6, and being just the two of us we eat dinner while watching – so a bit difficult to get out of.
      
      However, we do record it and skip over the bits that don’t interest us, or we find outright embarrassing – which is turning out to be increasingly more of the content that is served up. It’s not unusual for us to skip half the program, and occasionally even more.

        According to the AM show’s experts, NZ has just had (12 months ending Feb) Net Immigration of 52,000.
        Later this year we’re set to hit 100,000. That’s 100k more people arriving than are leaving, because of migration. Our highest level ever.
        
        That’s hugely transforming our society. What mandate does Labour or any other govt have to impose this
        ‘world-beating’ level of migration on our country?
        
        When I visit a Bottle Store — infrequently I should add — but when I do, all the staff seem to be from one ethnic group, and recently arrived in the country.   There is being ‘ill informed’, and then there is ‘plausible deniability’ where those in leadership or public facing roles attempt to deliberately keep a distance between them and information so they cannot comment when they are called upon to do so.
  
  Ardern, a student of the Tony Blair school of business as she was an advisor in his government, considered herself somewhat of an expert at this, but what she failed to realize is that New Zealand is too small, and everyone knows everything, or knows someone who knows everything, thereby negating the ‘plausible’ in ‘plausible deniability’.
  
  This is the main reason why she stopped doing Tuesday interviews with Mike Hosking, because he was so well connected, and he would keep calling her out on the nonsense.
  
  Chris Hipkins seems to think that he is somehow better than Jacinda in this regard, and he seems to think that the creed of plausible deniability is somehow still in force, but in this country, you cannot control the information flow.

Here’s an article outlining the strategic downside to so called “renewable energy”.

Today, Senators Rick Scott, Josh Hawley, Marco Rubio and Tom Cotton reintroduced the Keep China Out of Solar Energy Act to prohibit federal funds from being used to buy solar panels manufactured or assembled in Communist China, specifically targeting those known for the use of slave labor.

Last month, Senator Rick Scott and Representative Bill Posey led legislation to block the Biden administration’s action that protects Chinese solar companies which are actively circumventing U.S. trade laws.

        I think these people are mostly indirectly shilling for conflict with China, rather than being concerned about foreign Chinese influence in the United States.       Luxon says all the same things Key said about NZ reaching its potential. Word for word.
      
      Key also said he would dis-establish the Maori seats. Just as Luxon says (contradicting his Deputy Willis) that they will not join up with Te Pati Maori.
      
      When Key won the election he formed an unnecessary alliance with the Maori Party and said this alliance prevented him from keeping his promise on the Maori seats.
      
      So here we are today with a bunch of Marxist revolutionaries who are pretending to be Maori using their assumed race and the Maori seats to divide and weaken NZ and pervert the election.
      
      When Luxon says he will not form an alliance with Te Pati Maori I believe it about as far as I could kick him. (but has he even said this?)
      
      Sure, the main danger is Labour and their Maori caucus and a Te Pati Maori alliance, but you really do not know about Luxon and what he will give up.
      
      Remember he forced all Air NZ employees fronting with the public to learn the language. Willis has learnt it and Luxon is learning it.
      
      If voting Nats is going to keep Te Pati Maori out then Luxon has to give a cast iron guarantee or else his words are worthless. IMHO.

How will a patient know themselves if they are a doctor’s ability or chemist’s case?
Will chemists have consulting rooms?
Will there be an animated cartoon campaign like the 3 Waters job to publicise this whole set-up?

  Personally, after the debacle that the last 3 years have been, we’ve dropped out of the health system and are doing our own research. I’m over paying $60 for 15 minutes just to watch my doctor google the same sites that I do when checking re the cause of various symptoms.
  Anyway he got it all wrong re the vaccines and the masks. Shaved his beard to virtue signal last year that he was “doing it properly”. Saw him a couple of weeks ago with the beard back, he ignored me and walked away when I asked, as he was growing it back, was this acknowledgment that he had figured out the masks were a waste of time?

I remember my gp saying a while ago he’s stopped going to the break room because he got tired of listening to the young doctors talking about cases and all their answers came from either text books or Google. They weren’t interested in any alternative treatments and in some cases what their patients were saying.

      He sometimes gets back to me after “”reviewing”” the literature(ie medical studies.)

        I would normally agree, except the whole medical industrial complex is now so riddled with corruption is difficult to know who to trust. “Peer reviewed” used to mean something, no longer. The Lancet used to be highly respected, their reputation shredded this year. PubMed, they are pretty much all funded by big pharma to at least some extent.
        No, trust is gone for me.
        I’ll stick a relevant post up tomorrow re the perilous state of health services everywhere. It’ll give you a bit of an idea why things may not be quite like you think they are.

      I used to go biannually for my ‘warrant’. Bloods, heart check, eyes etc.
      No more, I’ll take what comes, they wouldn’t take my wife’s stitches out of her face because she wouldn’t wear a mask. She has an exemption. They wouldn’t accept it. Their actions breach human rights but more so, were morally repugnant. I was forced to be treated outside in the winter for the same reason.
      No, I’ve completely lost trust in what they do and in particular, what they give out in the way of medicine.

      Also I have the means to check my own here at home, as well as a lot more information regarding preventative steps I can take to stop problems arising in the first place.
      It’s one of the biggest problems with the whole system, everything caters towards a ‘cure’, inevitably a pharma product. Nobody talks do much about the reasons the problems occur in the first place and how to prevent them. The BFD has a good article about the huge rise in numbers of ‘Wellness Centres’ across NZ now catering to this issue. I’ll be supporting them instead.

    I have not looked for any data on this… but just from observation, many smaller pharmacies are closing from competition from the Australian discount chemists like bargain chemists. A decade ago there used to be at least 4 pharmacies within 10 minutes walk from the Beehive in Wellington. Now there are none.
    
    Are these discount chains going to buy into this government model of primary medical care? Maybe if they can make money out of it.
    
    BTW I have no sympathy for the small pharmacies going broke. For decades they price gouged us. For example, over the last 10 years, the cost of the contact lens solution I use has dropped from $30+ to about $15.

  Remember people: When there is “pressure [on] emergency departments” it is your fault. It has nothing to do with government incompetence or their vacuous “winter preparedness plans”.

    I used to catch buses in Wellington. I was always getting colds and similiar illnesses. Now I don’t. That is not a coincidence. A typical Wellington bus ride in peak hour:
    
    – You may not get a seat
    – You are forced to listen to loud phone conversation (“I am on the bus!”)
    – Teenagers yelling at each other
    – If you do get a seat, a fat person taking up 75 percent of the seat.
    
    So, no just bloody no. I would rather be stuck in traffic listening to a podcast.

I mentioned a few days ago that it was my belief that if ALL factors involved in getting to carbon neutral including mining, manufacture, disposal etc, that the ICE will do less damage to the planet than the EV equivalent.
Well, somebody has done the numbers that I couldn’t.

What if every car was an EV?

Transitioning the global vehicle fleet to EVs will add an addition 200,000 million tons of CO2 per year to the atmosphere.

Those calculations are more plausible than any of the provably nonsensical models that have been produced claiming the imminent destruction of the planet. It’s a mirror of the nonsensical covid narrative.

It is based on lies and it is part of an ideological agenda that is going to see the majority of people returning to the days of serfs and lords, because you can guarantee the James’ Shaws, Greta Thunbergs and Chloe Swarbricks of this world won’t be doing the hard yards.

Thus, assuming the current global energy mix, transitioning all of the global vehicle fleet to EVs will result in the addition of 200,000 million tons of anthropogenic CO2 per year.

These people are delusional. they are going to be responsible for the destruction of our way of life for absolutely zero gain. No more.

    However, just because it may be a silly law does not mean that the Speaker can circumvent the law.
    
    I thought it was a stupid law when Winston pushed for it. However I have changed my view over time. I don’t think that electorate MPs should be forced out of Parliament if they resign from their Party. However List MPs are different. The Green Party list MP who just resigned from her Party is in Parliament entirely because she has been selected by the Party.
    
    Anyway, I agree it will die as an issue in the next couple of weeks.

That whole thing was totally contrived with packing boxes and her minder there to make sure she stayed on script. It should have been in the studio but the native interviewer is too easily swayed. Nobody is any wiser about the “why” that they were before sunrise today. I read it for the first time a few years ago, but struggled to find a link to it again until now.
Michael Mann comes across as a nasty piece of work. He and his mates did their best to take control of the peer review process, and which studies got published in journals etc.
What I read in this review was a real eye opener.

““On-screen Representation” is classified as at least one lead character from an underrepresented racial or ethnic group, having at least 30 percent of secondary roles be from two underrepresented groups or the main storyline has to focus on an underrepresented group.

According to the Academy, underrepresented groups include women, people of color, people who identify as LGBTQ+ or people with disabilities, and the new standards are meant to encourage diversity on and off the screen.

***The rules are wrong and ridiculous. But question. I would have thought the LGBTQI+ people are over represented in the film industry.

Where are the stats for their discrimination. How many LGBTQ people do they think are in the general population. How many are in the film industry. What constitutes LGB. If you kissed a girl once and you liked it , does Katy Perry qualify. Or do you have to be in a relationship. Imagine getting asked your sexual history at a job interview.

As far as I’m concerned if you win election for an electorate seat in Parliament under a party banner and you leave that party mid-term you lose your mandate to represent that electorate.

To regain your mandate you must win a subsequent by-election.

Also, in the case of a list MP, if you leave the party then you’re out of Parliament in my view and are replaced by the person next on that party’s list.

Both Whaitiri and Kerekere have lost their mandate as MPs in my opinion.

Both have no place in our Parliament. They currently have no mana in that place.

Comer has scheduled a press conference for Wednesday that he says will lay out an array of evidence. That is the deadline for the FBI to produce a document that Comer says exists which shows policy actions taken in exchange for money: bribery, which is specifically mentioned in the Constitution as a reason for impeachment.

Comer says that he has evidence that the Department of Justice has not bothered looking into, evidence that the Biden family has a “web of LLCs” that have taken in millions and millions of dollars from foreign countries in exchange for policy actions. He worries that the DoJ will indict Hunter Biden on some relatively minor crimes in order to refuse to comment or produce evidence related to a prosecution underway.

Why the hell would you take students caving when you must have looked at the weather report and seen what was coming, insane. Best of luck to the searchers I hope this has a happy ending.

A teenage student is unaccounted for – believed to have been swept away by floodwaters at Abbey Caves in Whangārei.

Stuff understands the year 11 Whangārei Boys High School student and at least 14 of his classmates were on an outdoor education school trip at the caves, on Abbey Caves Rd, on Tuesday.

1. Budget 2023 will support funding for emissions reductions with a $300 million boost to New Zealand Green Investment Finance Ltd
2. The bigger balance sheet creates a greater opportunity to develop low carbon projects, drive down emissions, and create green jobs
3. Takes NZGIF’s pool of capital to $700 million, making NZGIF one of the largest direct investors in New Zealand focused on climate change

As usual a pool of money for a politician to splash around probably with little or no audit trail or long term results. I note that at today’s EV rebate rate approx 375,000 Tesla purchasers could be going to benefit. What the country needs is innovation and adaption not more Teslas or trees.

Last evening after my wife had a laugh at the Asians trying to sneak their food into Oz on Border Security I switched over to the Coronation Concert.
I watched for half an hour.
