Labour MPs corrupt ‘get rich quick from their time in parliament’ scheme is slowly but surely exposed.

“National claims contracts around Covid and Smokefree New Zealand went to Henare’s partner’s ad agency.” (newstalk ZB)

In January I opined in kiwiblog..

“The NZ voter has to push for a detailed audit of all government spending over the last 5 years to find out where the wasted billions ended up.

We also need better controls on government spending and conflicts of interest so inexperienced and undereducated labour mps are discouraged from seeking public office to make their fortunes. ”

Recently Thomas Cramner wrote:
“there does urgently need to be a complete and comprehensive overhaul of the laws and regulations relating to conflicts of interests, complete with independent oversight”

We also need harsh consequences if conflicts of interest policies are breached.

So what can you do?

Advocate for parliamentary oversight which can be used to shed light on corrupt MPs putting our money into their back pockets (Citizen’s referenda is my preferred solution).

Insist that Ashley Bloomfield, Grant Robertson, Chris Hipkins, and Jacinda Adern are investigated to uncover why they lied to our fine nation about medsafe’s report on the safety and effectiveness of the covid jab.

Insist on a forensic audit of all government spending and an investigation into the wealth and sources of income of the Labour Hierarchy and their family.

There is a reason the Labour Hierarchy poisoned an entire nation, effectively killing tens of thousands of Kiwis.

We need to know what that reason is.

  Looks like the Aussies are going to reject The Voice. If so they will be smarter than Kiwis. They have seen thru the bull shit and realised its not about helping the Aborigines but like here its all about enriching the Elites at the expense of everyone else.
  Pity Kiwis werent smart enough to demand the ToW and all its bull shit be confined where it belongs to history. This divisive bull shit has no place in a fully functioning democracy in the 21st Century. It belongs in the 19th Century.

    It’s all starting to be very clear. Should this government remain in later this year, it will prove that a majority of people stand against my minimum standard for society, that everyone has equal rights.
    
    If Australia reject a race based takeover by the elite, i will join the exodus and go enjoy their democracy. Yes, I will take my $50k in tax with me (plus gst)…

        I read UNDRIP and I agree with Key’s summation that we complied before he signed it.
        
        The Labour Hierarchy used UNDRIP as an excuse to funnel millions into the coffers of the Maori King’s family. See my comment above as to why.

    We might expect lastmanstanding that that is why we think all those Maori Ministers appear to be so useless and they all preoccupied with their own Caucus matters that are only about how to push the Maorification. We have to concede they have made so much more headway in convincing and controlling Labour and even got a special holiday that nobody is bothered more than getting another day off.   That is a small kickback for $2B worth of vaccines.
  Locking the place down, forcing vaccines, forcing masks, instilling fear porn, lying constantly, and she got paid for it. Just remember, no information was ever reported by NZ Media.

      This shows the importance of performing autopsies on all covid/mRNA deaths, which Fauci discouraged. Until such time as all such deaths have postmortem, appropriately stained microscopic examinations of all tissues nobody can conclude that the death was not vaccine related.         mawm – exactly. This is the big chance for the government and their ‘experts’ to silence those ‘anti vaxxers’ and purveyors of mis and disinformation. This is how they end the speculation.
        
        ANY sudden or unusual death should be tested for vaccine involvement. Within 6 months there will be clear evidence one way or the other whether the vaccine has contributed to the worrying large increase in all cause mortality.

        Dr Campbell is excellent. It has been quite the journey watching him become red pilled over the last 2 years.
        He was initially a staunch supporter of the jabs, but he’s very thorough at statistical analysis and he slowly realised things weren’t adding up. Then methodically went through the issues and explained them well to the layperson.

      Just heard about another unfortunate vaccine injury in my circle. Same as my friend experienced earlier, which I’ve mentioned on this blog. Brain swelling/fluid in brain, leading to brain damage and loss of vision. Same demographic as my friend. Mid 30’s female.
      
      It fits with the studies showing a large increase (doubling from memory?) of blindness in the community post vaccination.
      
      I do not think it is a coincidence that many young people are suffering heart attacks, strokes, diabetes, blindness, tinnitus, immune system disorders, nervous system disorders.
      
      It is a tragedy.

      But we are still none the wiser as to why, after receiving the medsafe report concluding the covid jab was neither safe nor effective, Adern told the nation the opposite and mandated we all have the jab.

  Thanks Mark but this is already being done on a less formal way and at no cost to the tax payers. National are conducting a line by line check in all expenditure by Shadow Ministers for their particular areas of concern. It is also essential for them to know this to not just keep Labour accountable, identify wasteful spending as frequently stated but also help with formulating to get the most out of expenditure. It is also abundantly clear that the mammoth mess to be cleared up will keep will more than anything else keep them all busy.

    Piniwi, I’d be extremely surprised and worried if National weren’t reviewing expenditure and making a plan. They will have to act very very quickly to limit the enormous damage so need to be prepared.
    
    I’m advocating they use the resources of state when they gain power to follow the money trails.
    
    For example, Wayne Brown identified the enormous wasteful spending on road cones.
    
    I’d like to know which road maintenance companies and which road cone manufacturers received the money.
    
    Then I’d like those companies to be investigated and monitored for any current or future links to politicians /civil servants.
    
    A very difficult task I know but the Labour Hierarchy aren’t that bright so there will be plenty of clues. Failure to hold the Labour Hierarchy to account will see a repeat of the corruption in 9 to 12 years which will make the cost of the forensic audits look like chicken feed.

      The problem National has is that they can’t rely on any financial forecasts until the PREFU in September; the official “opening of the books”. Only then will anyone know just how bad things are.
      
      I still remember 2008 when the PREFU was predicting a “decade of deficits” as the Global Financial Crisis began to bite, but even then it was only a guideline. When the briefings to incoming Ministers took place, our financial position was already significantly worse than the PREFU had forecast, in just a matter of weeks.
      
      That’s why the downturn in the Grown accounts this week was so concerning. Tax revenue down by $2, indicating a lowdown in business, the deficit heading for $2 billion MORE than forecast (and the forecast was bad enough), and net Crown debt up $5B over forecasts of just a couple of months ago. Robertson can go on all day about how robust our economy is, but the fact is, it’s not robust at all.

An excellent article by Janet Wilson in Stuff. It clearly lays out Nationals and Luxon’s problems. As the cafe owner clearly explained “we don’t know you”. For many of us undecided we don’t see National as an alternative and ACT is a step to far.

    Phase 1. Sort out underperforming National caucus. DONE
    Phase 2. Finalize Nationals objectives and policies. DONE
    Phase 3. Negate the despicable NZ media by conducting nationwide meet and greet sessions. UNDERWAY.
    Phase 4. Unleash National’s record beaking campaign funds.

  Do you appreciate that the inflation that we are experiencing is totally Robertson’s responsibility? He was and is unable to curb this government’s spending. Read any book on economics and you will see that governments’ excessive spending always leads to inflation. The financial pain being experienced by everyday New Zealanders is totally Robertson’s responsibility.
  
  If you have any sense of reality, I don’t see how you could possibly vote Labour again until those on the Treasury benches are no longer in Parliament.

As an undecided was far from convinced about National and knowing the past policies of ACT and the characters who started it they are far too right for me. Yes I can assure KBs that I will not be voting Labour even though a life long labour supporter and a one time member when it was a Labour Party. This bunch of incompetents will not be getting my vote. Most likely will not vote not even the “happy baccy” party. Had my first puff at 75 did nothing except great laughter from others. So KBs there you have it a self confessed lefty who had a drag at 75. I presume I am joining Mike with automatic down ticks even if I state David Seymour walks on water. Have fun I do.

        From a statement on their principles –

        The above probably encapsulates the reason many who previously supported ACT are so angered by Seymour and his failure to support New Zealanders’ bodily autonomy and individual sovereignty during Ardern’s covid response. If he can’t stick to the primary principle of his party then he is just a windbag and lowers himself to the level of untrustworthiness that the past leader of NZ 1st.

    National is not getting as obsessed with the polls as Labour activists and the media are. National MP’s and candidates are out campaigning every day, and talking to literally thousands of people who are struggling, and in some cases drowning in debt. Most banks put their interest rates up again this week, and when money is already tight and household budgets are stretched to the limit, that’s the last thing people need. Rural, provincial and even suburban New Zealand will vote with their wallets in 98 days time, and the media pack following Luxon and Hipkins around won’t have seen it coming.

  I am no apologist for Labour, but piling the work of sacked ministers onto a minister that has had a relationship end, another ex defect to TPM, and has not only had to deal with a couple of major disasters covered by her portfolios, as well as dealing with Grade 3 cancer was never going to end well. As a Cancer survivor, I can tell you that this alone is a huge mental strain, and the worst times can often come after the battle is won.
  
  The fact that the talent pool is so shallow in the Labour Caucus is putting a huge strain on the few MP’s of competence that have to carry the diversity quota hires….

    Personally, I think Kiri Allan should go on leave of absence until the election. There are so few sitting days before Parliament dissolves that her absence won’t make the slightest bit of difference; to Parliament anyway.
    
    But for her, a complete break from the media, including social media, and from the pressures of her portfolios is what she needs. It’s up to her to decide whether she campaigns to remain the MP for East Coast, or she may even choose to take three years away from the limelight as SR notes, she has gone through a lot in the last few years, and none of us is immune from being overwhelmed; I can report that, as a mental health survivor.

  Met her once , was very impressed , she was working as associate minister , relates very well to the working man .
  Speaks extremely well off the cuff , knowledgeable and good sense of humour reminded me of Seymour .
  I think she’s a good politician with flaws , demanding results from a slack bloated public service , a lot whom are milking it at home doesn’t bother me .
  Prone at the moment to not thinking before she speaks or messages which is a major , it’s a female trait to let emotions blur the judgement , our brains are wired differently and women aren’t as good as men at compartmentalising. Issues are always there front of mind and that’s why they they talk things through so much and blokes generally shut down .
  My take is she would make a great mayor . Get some years in and hv another go .
  She needs to understand the gravitas of being a minister , not the swashbuckling provincial hero on a crusade to do good .
  People can’t whinge about media having a go , they eviscerate nationals candidates , what’s good for goose is good for the gander

    My Nana taught me, you can tell a lot about someone by the way they treat their staff and those that serve them. I guess also by the way they behave when the cameras aren’t on them.   As a nation it is vital to our prosperity and the wellbeing of ourselves and of the generations which follow us that we demand more from our politicians and our civil institutions.
  
  There are those who would have us believe that merely having Maori women in government, or Pacific people, or lesbians, or ex-refugees, or gay Mexicans is somehow an achievement. Something that we should be content with. Somehow enough.
  
  No. No. No.
  
  It is results and only results that we must always remain focussed on – and irrespective of who occupies our House of Representatives at any point in time.
  
  This preoccupation with our representatives’ gender, sexuality, ethnicity etc is just a sideshow, in my view solely and purposefully designed to distract us from what we should be focussed on; their performance. Their achievements.
  
  They don’t want us to focus on those things because that is where they are at their weakest. Far, far more preferable for them to draw our attention to how much money they’ve spent, or won for their communities, or how many lezzies or Maori they’ve for in caucus, or how wonderful they are for throwing at us some crumbs in the form of a public holiday or a minimum wage rise, which any monkey could do.
  
  It’a one of the greatest disappointments of my adult life to come to understand how easily bought off we are as a people, how little we demand or settle for by those who would lord over us.
  
  They treat us like mugs because time after time we let them get away with it. We really are a feeble lot.

  And according to the article and a deleted social media post, Allan’s girlfriend has already moved on and found new love within weeks (sounds more like she left her for someone else). Ms Allan must be a real piece of work.
  
  Now all this is very sad for her on a personal note, but ultimately she is paid 300k of taxpayer money per year to do a job which she isn’t doing.

  Private property used to be private and you could do things with your own private property. Increasingly restrictions are being implemented that require an owner to go through hoops and pay fees to do things you used to be able to do freely.
  
  I’m not talking about large scale modifications but small things like building a deck outside your bedroom ranchslider on a rural property where no-one but you can see it.

    The article does not spell out the practical effects of the decision. Does this mean that land cannot be developed? Because of mutton bird hunting and an historical trail? And the sky father was in play? Yeah that seems insane.
    
    Wayne’s analogy with heritage buildings is false equivalence. If you buy a property you know it is a heritage building. That’s is quite different to a farmer discovering that his land value has declined because the sky father used to be involved three centuries earlier.

      Sometimes houses are graded after an owner has bought. It would usually be only category 3. Done by local authorities. Plenty of people in Devonport have been so affected. Though as a general rule they don’t mind. The character of Devonport will have been one of the reason why they bought in the suburb. Nevertheless there have been some high profile planning hearings when owners wanted to do substantially more than the community considered appropriate.

      I was not at all aware that Maori had any religeous beliefs at all, until such time as Missinaries like Bishop Pompallier arrived after before the TOW.
      In 1836 it is claimed that he had some 36,000 converted Maori Catholics but this contradicts the reported total Maori at the time of the Treaty.

  The land hasn’t been taken. Rather part of it has been declared to be of culture significance.
  I would suggest that is not much different to a house or building being subject to a historic places listing. With such houses the owner is restricted in what they can do with the house, particularly in terms of alterations.

      Historic places buildings go from Grade 1 to Grade 3. Grade 1 buildings, though not all, are in some form of public owership. Most private buildings would be in 2 or 3, the latter being done by local council experts. My house is grade 3. I can do internal alterations, but I can’t change the external appearance.

The court is taking their word for something that was never written down, has a decent likelihood of being myth and which no actual proof can be provided.     We’ve got a few archaeological sites registered on our land and when we wanted to put in a pool, all we needed was a report from an archaeologist and everything went smoothly. Mind you that was some years ago.

I took the train from Auckland to Wellington the other day (it’s a great trip, BTW). It was a Monday, just before a block of Parliament sitting days.

I walked up & down the carriages. There are about 40 Auckland-based MPs: not one to be seen. You’d think they’d be riding the rails, walking the climate change talk. They could have been busy caucusing, tapping away on laptops, zooming into calls, glad-handing their fellow passengers. Not so.

If they’re not prepared to travel by train, presumably because their working time is too important to them, why would anyone one else?

  However I recall many vaping advocates laughing at the idea that non smokers would take up vaping, citing evidence that smoking in teenagers was no longer “cool”.
  
  The huge decline in teenage smoking rates over the last 25 years has indeed been a good thing. However teens are now embracing vaping. This raises an alternative hypothesis. Teenagers stopped smoking because as the price sky rocketed they could no longer afford to buy cigarettes. Now that a cheap source of nicotine is available they are all over it.

HOW TO STOP KILLER WHALES ATTACKING BOAT RUDDERS
Been reading about the multitude of attacks up around Spain and Gibraltar. They go for the rudders , sunk a couple of boats .
Differing theories why but I thought let’s as a group hv a serious/light hearted crack at how to stop the pests

My method would be to strap an anderwater speaker to the rudder or keel with celine dion screeching away full noise .
Be like those siren twats in Auckland . Surely no orca …. Or any living thing would go within cooeee of that !

Perhaps a jacinda or Kamala word salad speech blaring away would deter …. But we don’t want them to off themselves in sheer despair do we . Greenies would be up in arms if they beached themselves having given up on the world around them

  An Orca came alongside. It was way longer that the boat. It just turned on it’s side, had a look at me then went away. Very intelligent, very inquisitive.

While I don’t disagree with what he and others are saying, he then encourages the reader not to support any party who is in favour of it.

I assume he means Labour and the Greens but what about National and Act — what is their official position on co-governance ?

  Vote for the political party that is going to completely abandon (not partly abandon) co-governance, scrap the Waitangi Tribunal, repeal the Treaty of Waitangi Act 1975, and all race based legislation.
  
  Well, sounds good to me. Puts a lot of heat on National and Act. That is what it is meant to do. Labour and Greens are using this co-governance to try and stay in power. On that note, I will never vote Labour/Greens. Elite Maori know this, and welcome it.

The content is fine. However the headline is a shocker. “The seats that could decide the election”. Of course seats changing hands have no effect on which party forms government. It is all the Party Vote.

This matters because many folk will still have limited understanding of how MMP works. Is the problem poor editorial oversight, or worse, does the journalist not understand MMP?

Further revelations about Hipkins’ trip to China and the backup plane that accompanied him for part of the journey. Claimed by NZDF at the time that it was “nothing unusual” tended to dampen down criticism and deflect from the rank hypocrisy of a government that leaped to declare a “climate emergency” really meant an emergency for other people, not them.

Yep, there was nothing unusual about sending a backup plane – except for the fact that it had never been done before.

Reportedly they only have 40 tanks that are battle ready! Maybe they have a few more, who knows? But it’s not going to be hundreds or thousands is it? The rest of the EU aren’t much better.

    Russia has not used cluster bombs in Ukraine. I know they were accused of using them in Syria but that in itself does not mean they used them. They are using thermo-baric devices, not incendiary, which have never been banned. Are they any different to explosive warheads in effect?
    
    Lindsay Graham and Richard Blumenthall started the narrative of Russia using a nuclear device which was amplified by the media. Russia has been consistent in saying their nuclear doctrine does not allow a first strike, and Putin has reiterated they will only use them if their very existence is threatened. I’m glad you fell for the false flag narrative – which Ukraine has now walked back.
    
    And you also believe they destroyed the dam. I suppose pipelines as well! Kidnapped children – pure BBC propaganda. The Russians have been particularly good at sheltering civilians and orphaned kids.

  The issue with, and reason for banning cluster munitions is the cleanup of undetonated munitions after hostilities cease. Russia obviously gives no fucks about that, Ukraine, on their own lands, clearly does – their intent is to use them in suppressing infantry and breaching Russian lines clearly not in attacking civilians or generally making Ukraine land a dangerous hellscape.
  
  Ukraine mostly needs
  -weapons to enable long range destruction of logistics routes – 300km range missiles like storm shadow and ATACM.
  -Some means of taking down attack helicopters 5-10km behind the front lines which are a problem for Ukraine’s armoured assaults, and out of range of normal manpads and AA guns.
  -A lot more shell supplies for suppressing artillery to enable breakthrough assaults on Russian lines.
  
  F16 fighters would help, attack helicopters would probably be better.

An Auckland property developer contact of mine has pulled up the tools on his latest project to build 30 townhouses. He’s very reputable, excellent credentials.

Why?

Auckland Council development contributions gone from $20K per title to $80K per title. It’s made this project unviable.

Consider that when politicians moan, bitch and whinge about lack of housing, unaffordability, lack of competition and the like in the years to come.

Crisis? You betcha. Caused by idiotic local body politicians in Auckland over the last ten years or so. They’ve bled Auckland dry. And none of this includes the CRL which is projected to lose $300 million a year.

I read with shock that police trainees are missing out on vital swimming lessons because the police college swimming pool needs $1.2 million of repairs.

First off: Why are we even considering teaching cops to swim? Just make it a condition of entrance – part of the fitness test:
* Run 1.5km in under x minutes.
* Carry 100kg load 100 metres in less than y minutes.
* Swim 500 metres in less than z minutes.

But if they really **must** be taught to swim, then it is shocking that the government can find millions of dollars of koha for gangs, but not find $1.2 for crime fighting.

And I’m equally shocked by the picture in the article below: They really expect those small girls to be cops? Even at my age, and fitness I could carry one under each arm.

    I don’t think it is teaching the trainee Cops to swim per se… It is knowing how to carry out an effective rescue of someone drowning.
    
    Apart from kids/ teens attending Surf Clubs, I don’t know how many children in NZ are taught rescue Life-saving techniques.

    At my Primary Boarding school (back in the 1960s) we were all expected to train and attempt the Royal Life-Saving exams at a junior level (Bronze star, Bronze Cross).
    
    At my High School the P.E. teachers had no interest in Swimming (the school lacked a pool) – let alone training us for further Life-saving awards – So 4 us used to bike to one of the public pools and trained for some senior awards (Silver medallion……Which I failed as I wouldn’t headfirst dive from the 3m platform).
    
    It’s one thing to be a strong swimmer (which I was), but that’s no guarantee that you have the skills to deal with a panicking or an unconscious person in the water.

      Up here on the harbour, I will not drown if I am parted from my boat.

  Per the article, trainees are required to confirm they can swim, as part of the application process. But, they only get three hours of formal swimming anyway, which ain’t going to do much. I guess if they’re residential then they would be able to put in some after hours time in the pool. Instead, they could just do what everyone else & head down to the local pool.

  The pool itself actually doesn’t need “repairs” as such.
  
  Some engineers came in and said it was an earthquake risk, and there are changing rooms and lecture theaters (used to be squash courts) below it which could be suddenly flooded if it were to suffer a major failure in a shake.
  
  So because it wasn’t up to whatever new building standards that week, it had to be emptied.

There are a number of stories floating about claiming that the UK is about to dump its multi-billion pound climate pledge. The stories seem to have prompted lots of weasel words from the likes of Sunak, but maybe there’s something to the story.

I’ve heard a number of times now that NZ must attempt to commit economic suicide trying to achieve unneeded climate goals like ‘Net Zero’ (my interpretation), even though proponents admit we can make absolutely no difference to the climate, because other countries expect us to.

Would the UK be one of those countries?

Please God, is the ‘Climate Crisis’ finally starting to die?

  NZ produces around 20 million tons of wet milk a year. Milk is about 4% fat, 5% carbohydrates and 4% protein. Per ton, that’s 40kg fat, 50kg carbohydrates and 40kg protein.
  All of those contain carbon from CO2.
  40kg carbohydrates uses up 61kg of CO2.
  40kg of fat uses up about 125kg of CO2.
  40kg of protein uses up 40kg of CO2.
  
  So, all up a ton of milk has taken up around 225kg (almost a quarter of its weight) of CO2. (ie. 225g per litre).
  
  And we’re not even considering other outputs such as meat, bones, hides etc. Of course there’s also a lot of other by products like all the poo in fibre form (lots of carbon in that) which ends up in the soil.
  
  So NZ’s 20 million metric tons of milk production is soaking up around 4 to 5 million metric tons of CO2.
  
  At around $50/ton carbon credits that should be worth $250 million.
  
  Yet, somehow, the farmers are the bad guys and dairy is the worst!

  ‘Geoff Buys Cars’ just published a YT vid where he tells us that crash repair costs of EVs tend to cost significantly more and take longer as well (in no small part because of the extra storage space required).
  The there’s the extraordinary depreciation of EVs (~50% in the first two years).
  It’s no surprise that ordinary individuals aren’t that keen on EVs.

      If we believe the hype (I’m sceptical, but you never know), ev batteries are going to improve out of sight over the next few years. Given that, existing evs using the old technology will only drop in popularity/value.
      I wonder if NZ insurance companies are increasing premiums for people who store their EV in the garage, due to the increased fire risk. That might put people off a bit more as well.

    Chris Nisbet & KEVN – when I was in the business of costing depreciation of heavy commercial vehicles, the IRD allowed depreciation at 25% of the pre-GST cost for the first year on a new vehicle, and 20% per annum (recalculated) for each subsequent year.
    The first year for a used vehicle was 20%.
    So, for a new vehicle costing pre GST $50,000, its depreciated capital value would be $37,500 after its 1st year.
    After its 2nd year depreciated cap val would be $30,000.
    After 3rd year, depreciated cap val would be $24,000 – less than half its purchase cost.
    Those rates are probably still applicable today, and probably apply to any vehicle.

      Did these book values match actual market values? Geoff was showing us asking prices on some used car site, comparing similar age/mileage EV and ICE vehicles.
      ICE dropped from £23k new to £19 asking over two years. EV dropped from ~£37 to £19 over same time.

  It will be interesting to see what happens to EV demand in July 2024. EVs will be subject to RUC – currently $76 per 1,000 km. If there is a National Government, inevitably the insane EV subsidy will bite the dust.
  
  So finally there will be a level playing field. Of course EV purchases will remain attractive for many people. However compare an EV of similiar size with this Yaris Hybrid. $31,000. Gets 1,000 km from a tank of petrol.

    We recently bought a smaller car and considered a hybrid, but the numbers did not work out.
    
    Our manual Suzuki Ignis cost us around $22000 after all the onroad costs etc – including a 75000km/5year service package.
    
    It gives us around 4.6l/100km for our daily driving – including going over Evans Pass (Port Hills) a few times a week.
    
    That’s not much room for a hybrid to make a difference. Let’s suppose a small hybrid like a Suzuki Swift for an extra $7000 and shaved off 0.2l/100km or about $5/1000 km, we’d have to drive $1.4million km to break even.
    
    A Yaris hybrid is supposed to give around 3.6l/100km so a saving over our Ignis of 1l/100km or $25/1000km.
    That would have cost $9000 more and would have needed 360,000km to break even.
    
    On more realistic vehicle lifetimes (200,000km or so) these seldom seem to stack up.

      With a RUC charge of $76 per 1,000 km (and that is only going on one direction – up) I can see some EV owners suffering buyers remorse next July. Given the $30,000 capital premium over a similiar sized small hybrid, and EV looks like a very bad decision. (I had not really thought much about the RUC impact before I looked it up today.) Even accounting for the lower maintenance costs of an EV, it just does not make sense once you need to start paying RUC and the EV subsidy is axed.
      
      Happy to be challenged if I have missed something.

        They use petrol, but a bunch less. So they’re paying a smaller contribution to road tax than an equivalent ice, due to the battery.
        
        Ev’s will soon have to pay ruc (can’t come quick enough).
        
        But is there a place for a new ruc category for hybrids?

      Hybrid batteries are smaller and the older more ubiquitous models can have batteries replaced by fairly inexpensive reconditioned batteries (eg about $2500 installed for a reconditioned Prius/Corolla hybrid battery with decent warranty included). A new Prius/Corolla hybrid battery from Toyota costs about $5000 last time I looked. EV batteries are larger and significantly more expensive to replace.

If the others can’t make money at the prices they are now, things would only be worse if they dropped them to a price that made them attractive to customers.         EFT has been studied in over 100 clinical trials. They show that the approach is effective for a variety of psychological and physical conditions. EFT combines elements of popular therapies, such as CBT, with acupressure—in the form of tapping with the fingertips on acupuncture points. For this reason it’s often called “tapping.”
        
        Would you deny a person something that has changed their lives because it doesn’t fit into your belief system?
        
        Captain George Peters had this to say after completing 6 sessions through the Stress Project program: “For 35 years I was hard to get along with. Divorced, fired, and feared by my children because I over-reacted to any provocation. Six hours of therapy gave me the tools to change.”
        
        If something works for people and helps them get their lives back then great, and that should be all that matters, that these methods have been proven to help people.
