ACT Member of Parliament Rodney Hide’s blog hacked

Kiwiblog has posted that ACT member of parliament, Rodney Hide, has had his blog hacked.Instead of Rodney's usual musings on dancing and occasional politics related comment, the site only reads:
by Thehacker iz birakanlar unutulmaz
My …

That is Turkish, and means “Those who leave traces are not fogotten” if I’m not mistaken.

There has been a lot of forum/blog hacking going around recently, I think a few security holes were recently discovered.

For those who don’t know, hackers usually leave their own ‘signature’ similar to graffiti etc.

Thanks to mikeybill’s translation it seems this is all the message is, it likely has no relevent meaning.

Actually, that’s almost right. More accurately, it’s: Those making deep impression aren’t forgotten.

  5. mikeybill Says:

Well, to quibble “iz” can be translated as trace, remanant, scar(in medicalese) or impression. There’s no qualifying adjective to give the sense of “deep” I would argue. You could also argue that a more accurate translation of unutulmaz is “can’t be forgotten”, but we’re just getting pety here ;-)
