Ridge vs Mallard Add this story to Scoopit!.

They are having a hilarious time on One’s Breakfast TV reading out extracts from some sort of who we trust survey.

Paul Henry just read out that Matthew Ridge is more trusted than Trevor Mallard, and they all burst into laughter. Took a while for them to be able to carry on.

UPDATE: Oh it gets even better. Henry just announced that Ian Wishart was at no 57 on the trusted list – one spot ahead of Helen Clark. Ha ha ha ha ha. Priceless.

Stuff has further details here.

UPDATE II: The full list is at Readers Digest. Ian Wishart is also ahead of John Key, but the difference is that this won’t worry John Key, while I am sure it pisses off Helen. If John had been behind Winston, then that might be another matter!

  2. kiwisan Says:

I wouldn’t crow too much, John Key was beaten by both Wishart and Helen…I wonder how Taito Phillip Field rated…

  3. Graeme Edgeler Says:

“The only religious figure to make the list is Destiny Church founder Brian Tamaki – in 75th place.”

If only they hadn’t just mentioned that the head of the Chruch of England came 19th…

  4. pdm Says:

Interesting that Kevin Brady at 51 is ahead of Clark, Cullen and Co.

Daniel Vettori is 12 ahead of his captain Stephen Fleming and I don’t recall seeing John Bracewell at all.

  5. krazykiwi Says:

Think Eric Watson should have made it onto the other list …

  6. Andrew Bannister Says:

Good list. Out of 4 million people, Brian Tamaki is the 75th most trusted New Zealander.

    Christine Rankin???

Subway is the 23 most trusted brand.

No wonder people question the democratic process.

    No wonder the public of this country are worried about parental rights in a society devoid of any moral integrity and ethical honesty and it is the vulnerable children I feel sorry for after reading the scroll of shame, which proves the sad state of affairs regarding privileged people in authority. The sad indictment is the professions ranked in order of trust ;
13 Judges – Justice Goddard and her corrupt PCA is a prime example of a shambolic and sinister judicial system, not to mention Justice Fishers fixation with child porn!
15 Police – The average cop has the IQ of a lamppost.
28 Lawyers – Show me an honest lawyer and I will buy you a keg of Speights
34 Journalists – Liarbore shrill puppets
40 Politicians – at least sex workers and car salesmen are above them on the leader board!

We can expect the number of people leaving this cess –pit country to increase from 600 a week. Trust is a delusion in kiwiland and who can blame them , and if the corrupt cops didn’t have my passport I would be long gone !!

you may like to know that we’re regular cited as on of the least corrupt countries in the world – so cheer up old fella, it’s not all bad :-)

It’s the Readers Digest self-selected survey with no scientific value whatsoever.

  10. MrTips Says:

I just wish those buggers at RD would stop trying to get me to enter their silly prize competitions..where would RD come on the list, eh?

  11. ZenTiger Says:

Well Mr Tips (or should I say “Doctor Doom?), telemarketers were one of the most hated professions, so some-where near there perhaps?

  12. slightlyrighty Says:

Why are Sex Workers rated so low on the most trusted profession?

As far as I know they are the only profession where you know you are going to get screwed!

  13. El Sift Says:

Clearly the best thing about the list is Colin Meads rating at 15.
    Provincial Finance anyone?

  14. chiz Says:

And Ian Wishart is trusted more than Hager!!

  15. pdm Says:

    El Sift

I think you are being a bit tough on Colin Meads. He was only the figure head for their advertising campaign and to my knowledge not involved in any way with the mangagement of the company.

In fact I suspect he is probably a loser in the sense he has investments with Provincial on which he will not receive his interest entitlements but fortunately should get his capital back.

Jesus, a polster spruiking the Readers Digest; times must be tough. Oh look over there, the Watchtower says the moon’s made of cheese!

  17. Southern Man Says:

That’s the most stupid poll of all time.
May as well titled the personality one “name your favourite sports star”.
