Can’t even organise a coup in a Council
June 27th, 2007 at 8:14 am by David FarrarHow incompetent do you have to be to give the Deputy Mayor an ultimatum to resign or be sacked, and then when he refuses, it turns out you don’t even have the numbers and one of your own team won’t even be voting with you.
Again I am mystified about why they think rolling Hucker 90% of the way through his term will achieve anything. And more bizarrely they are keeping him on as a candidate yet trying to sack him as Deputy Mayor.
The first rule in politics is do not announce your coup until you have the numbers.

This is an interesting event. We have Hucker staying true to his socialist principles by wanting to stick high water costs to the Ratepayers so he can pay for his social subsidies.
Vote:We have the Cit Rats not wanting high water costs because they believe in low rates.
And then there is City Vision, who want to drop the high water rates because, well because it will be unpopular and they might get voted out!
Have to admire Hucker for his stand but love the way the City Vision descend immediately into self serving “do anything to stay in power” policy.Ahh, the hypocrisy of the left.
And its everywhere. Who would bet against Tax Cuts next year from labour?

I believe it was Niccolo Macchiavellii who was reputed to have said “In a coup, first bring out the body”.

That loser Richard Northey clucked up his interview on Radio NZ this morning. He said that Hucker was being rolled for overall performance issues, not because of the water issue – but then he repeatedly refused to cite one example of a performance issue that City Vision and Labour had with Hucker.
Simply astonishing. No wonder Hucker can hold on – its just not hard to outfox his incompetent left-wing colleagues.

“Bruce, you’ve got until 11am to resign. And if you don’t, we’ll give you an extension to think about it some more. And if you still don’t comply, we’ll start counting the numbers against you

Your’ve got to love C&R Now voting to keep him in place as they now this will drive the final nail into the coffin for the left.
Brilliant move. Why waste time making the opposition party look bad when they do a fine job at it themeselves.
Bring on the council elections.
National should release a local government policy that they would legislate that all of Auckland can only have one council and finally get 70 wankers down to 10 wankers.

And these turkeys think they can run a city they couldnt even run a bath. Bring on October and throw the whole of the current lot out.We need a Council who will hold rates to inflation plus one percent per year and who will cut out the pen pushers and blood sucking “consultants”

We’re a smallish municipality in the global context. Can anyone understand why we need so much local government? Why not let Central Government look after most of the “services” they provide and leave local commissioners or some such structure for ensuring local issues are appropriately dealt with? With today’s communications and information tools, it’s ridiculous to assume we cannot have a better system of managing local services than a bunch of middle-aged busy bodies who don’t really have a mandate other than the few people who could give a fuck voting randomly chose them or used the old “I’ve heard of him/her” method. I think it’s ridiculous and wasteful. Moreover, as the ACC recently showed, the bylaw making power of these small minded busy bodies is really too much authority. Fuck local democracy. It’s a myth. Let’s centralise. Let’s eliminate one whole tier of government. And that gets me onto the second issue which is that within this tier of government there a multitude of entities such as city and regional authorities. Let’s dispense with them all. Centralise. The antics of these monkeys in Auckland just reinforces the need for action.
