SFO Powers

April 3rd, 2008 at 8:24 am by David Farrar

NZ First has said it has concerns over the plans by the Government to reduce the powers of the SFO’s successor to investigate serious fraud.

The NZ Herald editorial says axing the SFO is a serious mistake.

Labour is embarrassed that NZ is listed as one of the least corrupt countries in the world. This clashes with their own philosophy and actions. Serous Fraud investigations will shortly be outsourced to our friends in China.

It makes sense to have a well funded and resourced unit to investigate fraud etc although you could argue that joining up the Police prosecution unit, SFO and Police wiretapping departments is very Muldoonesque.

Hmm. Let’s see. A Labour led government that has muzzled it’s political opponents and yet disregards those self-same rules. A Labour led government that has effective control over the police force through intimidation and other tactics. (Not in the public interest to prosecute for theft?) A Labour led government that has changed legislation to favour them and their supporters.

Why am I not surprised that such a Labour led government would be working to not only remove the SFO but also alter the powers of their successor?

Because it is but another step towards their total control over state, religion, police and everything else in this country. Part of the grand, totalitarian socialist scheme.

Of course the Liarbour corrupt ones would want to undermine the investigate abilities of the SFO and hand it to the politicized nanny police. What else would you expect Aunty Hulun and Annutte the super justice womun minister to do FFS.

How do you guys expect the Liarbore party to win the next election without a bit of old fashion fraud?. Heaven forbid we should have some nasty little organisation like the SFO opening the books, I mean it’s just not cricket is it.

There was something pungent about the closure of the Serious Fraud Office. But I did not know where the smell was coming from. The Herald editorial helped. I can understand the Labour Party thinking that the right to silence is basic. After all, they have been challenged on Section KD 2 (4) of the Income Tax Act 2004, because, although the section was set up to persuade bludgers that it is better to be in work than on the benefit, the Child Tax Credit mentioned in that section discriminates against welfare bludgers. Accordingly it is an affront to Labour voters. Also, some of those nefarious characters in the Hawkes Bay D.H.B. saga will want the right to remain silent. I imagine that the SFO would be awful for them.
