Shame

January 6th, 2010 at 9:27 am by David Farrar

The ODT reports:

Speight’s, a long-time sponsor of the Students Association Orientation Week, will no longer be associated with the annual event on campus, following a move by the University of Otago to ban and sponsorship.

This is heresy. O Week without the Speights posters will not be the same. People will still drink just as much Speights I predict.

The headline band this year is United States-based Health, described as a “fluid, spiky maelstrom of blood and neon, mirrorball and icepick”, which “mashes together disco and punk into a noisy, spastic tribal inhalation of sound”.

See you need to be under the influence of Speights to be able to cope with that music!

On behalf of all students here, watch closely while I give a crap what the Otago students get up in their quest for self inflicted mental retardation.

    Agree with Murray.

Bunch of lame immature Marxists indoctrinated with Progressive propaganda that some of them never get over.

    Banning Speights?

    The symptom not the disease.

That is not music but noise of the worst possible kind. A minute of it must be equivalent to days of Chinese torture.

Victoria banned alcohol advertising on campus is October 2008, although the 2009 dairies were already printed with advertising. Despite the ban and an agreement with local pubs and liquor stores not to target discount booze directly to students the Vic students still managed to drink heavily but they didn’t invite Canterbury students to join in! Perhaps they listened to torture and had to revive themselves in Courtenay place

Bollocks, crap, shit…….. I think that those words encapsulate what I think about this situation.

When I was there (that phrase is almost as bad as “back in my day”!) the same pinko, socialist, marxist…….. errrrrr………….. whats the word I’m looking for here, Hone?………. oh yes, right………….. muthaf*****s were doing the same thing.

Now it seems the bastards have succeeded.

    Groan.

There will be a backlash against this. Even though varsities are the breeding ground for the righteous, inexperienced and self conscious who lack any confidence and therefore become megalomaniacs then join the Labour Party and end up fucking the country (draw breath), Sense will surely prevail.

    I hope.

    Bastards.

I’m an Otago student – Have never attended a student association organised orientation event (my hall did their own) and have never been attracted to one either.

The type of people at Otago that go to an OUSA organised gig are also the type that celebrate 4:20 ‘smoke-up protest’, who take six years to complete a BA and believe that the OUSA is a substitute religion for socialism.

I think I can still get smashed without the advertising and I guarantee retards who can’t handle their piss will still break shit and get arrested without the encouragement of James Speights logo.

Atleast only one more year to go till I can leave the stench of self-righteous socialism..

That destroys the already well known myth that OUSA provides students with a decent O week of any description. Something else for the VSM campaign :)

All other recreational drugs are illegal why not just ban alcohol and this wouldn’t be a problem would it?
