Overheard at the State Tower Food Court
November 9th, 2010 at 4:00 pm by David FarrarOverheard at lunch a comment along the lines of:
“According to Kiwiblog and Whale Oil, the guy leading the charge is a Labour Party candidate”
It was a group having lunch. I resisted the urge to introduce me, and just kept the quiet satisfaction to myself.

Sarcasm, as they say, is the lowest form of wit – best left to those who are so capably representative of the Left
I think DPF’s entitled enjoyment stemmed from such evidence of KiwiBlog’s marketplace penetration, and also from the clear fact that both his and Whale’s efforts are accepted as determinable reflectors of the way things are.
Surely too, while inanity might be the baseline of Red Alert and hardly the sort of contribution intelligent blogs might be expected to foster – given DPF’s and Whale’s intensive efforts over such a lengthy time – congratulations here are far more in order.

Now, if you want humour and intelligence, copy big bruv.
“Do you have a job or are you a DPB/Dole bludger?” is hilarious, full of wit and insight, a truly original piece of humour.
Unfortunately, on this blog, that is almost true.

hey bruv you asked me something similar. i answered and asked you this a couple of days ago ?
do you structure your income to avoid paying all the tax you should and claim allowances from the gov’t as a top up ?
you didnt answer, so i can only take that as yes.
in my books people like that are bludgers of the worst kind. defrauding the country of it’s rightful dues and ripping off the system like a parasite sucking the life blood out of society.
what a fucking scumbag piece of shit that would make you if you were like that. way worse than some hard done by unemployed person or solo mum who’s struggling to get by and can’t get ahead.

“hey bruv you asked me something similar. i answered and asked you this a couple of days ago ?”
I missed both your answer (pity, as I suspect you are a bludger) and your question, of course I try and pay as little tax as I can, successive governments have wasted so much of my money I would be mad to pay the bastards more than I should.
However, i do not claim any allowances from the tax payer (only a pinko would say that money comes from the gov’t, the gov’t has no money)
The only parasites are those who think their fellow citizens owe them a living, those who can work but choose not to do so, or those who stay at home producing unwanted children so they can live off the hard work of others.
BTW pollywog, given you are a socialist and therefore a lying bastard at the best of times I think I should take the opportunity to clear up something you said, I have no problem at all with those on the dole who are genuinely looking for work, most of them will take whatever job they can get (as they should), the people I have a problem with are the parasites who choose not to work.
As for the DPB….I would get rid of that tomorrow if I could.
Vote:November 10th, 2010 at 7:31 am
I do agree with BB in trying to minimise tax exposure and liability.
I have no time for bludgers and parasites who abuse the welfare state. Benefits should target the needy, the infirm, the people in real need of support, not able-bodied individuals who choose not to work as a lifestyle.

in my world those who can pay more should pay more and the gov’t should legislate to make it so, instead of burdening the less well off to make up the shortfall by rewarding the fatcats with a taxcut NZ cant afford.
taxing the fuck out of poor people while cutting public services isn’t going to make NZ a first world economy and neither is having dead end scumbags like yourself running round society thinkng your shit doesn’t stink and pissing on the less fortunate.
now i’m off to look up what a socialist or a pinko is so’s i know whether i should feel insulted or complimented.

Maggie, wash your mouth before you mention Lindsay Mitchelll’s name.
Lindsay is a tireless advocate for the reform of the welfate state, not a crusader against people in real need. Her campaign for DPB reform deserves success, and it’s something that escapes your socialistic approach to life.
Go away, establish your own blog and wait for comments.

“That people choose to live on welfare is a mantra, of course. Where is the proof? Or do you all worship Lindsay Mitchell the way you adore the great god Farrar?”
I can give you the details of two people right now who have chosen this way of life.
One has just got off welfare after five years, because he ran out of ‘sickness’ excuses and the welfare people finally put the screws on him. And guess what, he’s now a national manager of a large corporate just like that again (back to where he was before he fell off the rails through his own substance abuse lifestyle). Meanwhile, while he was too ‘sick’ to work so taxpayers had to fork out for him, he was working under the table, and doing all kinds of things like having meetings with councils and lawyers etc helping with a family members’ business.
The other is a ‘sickness’ beneficiary, who spends a lot of time going on holiday to Aus and the Pacific Islands – got some lovely postcards from her -, hiking on tramps and doing other physical activities like the Otago rail trail. But she’s far too sick to get out of bed to go to work though. She’s got the wind up her because she’s had her tame welfare officer taken away (and did she squeal) and is having to deal with one who is actually starting to question her extra carricular activities. And guess what she is now ramping up her business activities – while at the same time putting in a huge effort to get every available benefit she can before it all goes belly up for her.
Only now that Paula Bennet is dealing to people like these two are they finding they aren’t quite as ‘unemployable’ or ‘sick’ as they would have you apologists believe.
So don’t you and Pollywog give us this ideological crap about red necks and bile hatred. Most people on this blog, except for trolls like you and Pollywog get up every day and go to work whether they like it or not, and often when they are sick but have no choice to stay home because there is no one else to look after the business or do the work. They work bloody hard, raise their kids, do their best to be good citizens and obey the law and DON’T think it is their god given right to go around ripping off taxpayers so they can enjoy their drugs of choice and booze every day of the week.

Sarkozygroupie, you right wingers are nothing if not predictable.
Ask for proof of lifestyle welfare and you get back stories of a cousin’s aunty’s mother in law’s boarder who gets the dole and then goes surfing at Whangamata.
Two people do not constitute proof, they are just two people. You will have to do a lot better than that.
I worked for five years in a voluntary capacity, yes, big bruv, there are some people who work for nothing, and I met hundreds of beneficiaries. Not one of them enjoyed the lifestyle and all wanted to get off the benefit as quickly as possible.
Why you would want to spend a lifetime struggling to make ends meet on $120 dole a week I do not know.
Then comes the “we are so much better than anyone else” routine.
Benefit levels in NZ are deliberately kept low, they are at survival level. A good budgeter can just manage so long as nothing goes wrong. But if the washing machine packs up or the fridge breaks down a beneficiary has to go cap in hand to a WINZ case manager to beg for an advance. Why would anyone choose such a lifestyle?
Vote:November 10th, 2010 at 3:40 pm

Surely pollywog is taking the piss. It has spoilt my lunch thinking that pollywog, or anyone for that matter, really thinks that governments exist to take money from the hard working (earning) and redistribute it to people who don’t have enough motivation to earn it themselves and a sense of entitlement to boot. And that they should legislate? “They” are our elected representatives and much as I am generally happy with the democratic process (i.e. that elected MPs of any persuasion do the job and not me) I do not vote to elect people to legislate to take any more of my hard earned off me than is absolutely necessary. Absolutely necessary stops just after law and order, education, health, economic development and core infrastructure. Pollywog why don’t you and your “poor people” with a sense of entitlement just fuck off and live off your means?
