  The cops run around with activist domestic violence (what ever that is) badges on their lapels . You have to question their impartiality when dealing with these allegations. I think the badges are a very bad idea.

      GoVege, No they did not ignore it. They based it on evidence. If a woman’s accusation is all that is required to prosecute, then a mans denial should be a complete defense.
      
      Women do lie about this, particularly during messy break ups an custody battles.
      
      If you want to stop DV then you should demand extremely harsh penalties for false accusers.

      Dad was probably just worried about his daughter and grandkids being left in penury.
      
      How is the woman going to the Medical Council going to help the woman financially? I quote from the Herald below.
      
      The doctor said defending the case had left him penniless and he claimed in contrast his father-in-law was a millionaire.
      
      If the father was that concerned about his daughter finances he could have helped her out instead of paying someone to testify.
      
      I am a man and I have to problem accepting there can be some pretty abusive men. However, there can be pretty abusive woman as well as vindictive liars as well.
      
      Do you think you did anything wrong in your marriage? You seem to be a very bitter woman who thinks most of societies problems are caused by men.

        I was talking about what grandad did and his possible motivations.
        I’m not bitter and I do NOT hold men responsible for most of society’s problems, except in non-western countries where women’s lives are terrible. Even there, a lot of their problems are exacerbated by other women’s lack of support and loyalty.
        Family violence is a massive problem in this country and world-wide.
        Male violence is far more likely to be lethal but plenty of bullying women make men’s lives hell too.
        It’s not a question of blame but of trying to solve the problem and that involves facing up to the reality.
        I have seen men getting bullied and abused and had a male friend who committed suicide as a result.
        We need to address abuse, no matter who is at fault.

  In any case, this is why we need special domestic violence courts so bullies can be dealt with without destroying the family’s livelihood.

      The implication seems to be that grandad paid witnesses to say they saw the doc assault his wife.
      Paying witnesses is bad…and if they are paid to lie, that is obviously criminal.
      My own experience is most grandparents want to keep their children’s families together, and I thought he was defending his son in law!

    The jails are already full and overflowing, starboard.
    What we need us to ask ourselves why our country is producing kids who commit crimes of violence.
    Partly it’s because we pay people with serious problems to produce kids, instead of paying them a benefit sufficient enough to live on.
    Then we let parents shoot through instead of holding them accountable for the kids they brought into the world.
    Then we have backward cultures that teach their followers that a woman’s only real purpose in life is to produce as many kids as possible, and a man’s virility is determined by how many women he gets in the club, regardless of whether he sticks around to be a father to any of the kids.
    And then we have moronic political parties that encourage this mindset.

I’m sure many of you have seen the Facebook post “going viral” that shows a Malawian teenager who “harnessed the wind” and built a windmill “out of junk” to power his village. The social activist group Anonymous, then created a meme telling people to share this story as the media won’t and it has subsequently been “shared” 527 thousand times by ~~morons~~ people who will believe anything they see as long as it fits their narrative.

Fortunately, the folks at the Spectator took umbrage at this and did a bit of digging and it turns out this guy has been on the WSJ, CNN, BBC, CNBC, Time, The Today Show, has done TED talks (basically talks for douchebags who read Monocle) and even Rupert Murdoch’s outfit, Harper Collins published a book on him. Hardly “ignored by the MSM”…

I’d long forgot about this story but the Spectator article triggered a flashback as it was this story that first bought to my attention The Irish Savant who back in 2009, did a hilarious takedown of this story and how the MSM were hyping up this non-achievement push their agenda:

Final five paragraphs:

The paradox about this farce, and it is a farce, just like Obama’s Peace Prize, is that it unintentionally reinforces the black stereotype. Had this achievement been made by a white or an Asian it wouldn’t have attracted a flicker of attention. But an African doing something useful makes world headlines. Even thoughtful blacks realise that this is the ultimate, albeit unintentional, put-down. The tyranny of low expectations.

And an interesting coda: If you look at the myriad of comments on the various blogs you’ll not find a single one which isn’t gushing and tremulous at this stunning achievement. Truly, mass hypnosis has set in.

  I think the problem with your post is that Irish Savant like youself has a prefdermination and bias when it comes to “negroes ” or Jews .Yes a wind mill might be unremarkable when it comes to both Irish Savant , Voltaire net etc and you but it would also depend on the context e.g remoteness of the village and availability of raw materials.

        Looking at thr 10/10 up/downvote ratio, is a reminder that I find irritating how many on the right oppose Muslim mass immigration and yet see nothing wrong with non-white mass immigration from everywhere else, just so long as they’re not Muslims.
        
        I see this a lot on Kiwiblog, they massively criticise Muslims, and yet won’t say a bad word about blacks and if I point out how high the violent crime rate of blacks is in the USA/UK/ South Afruca/France/Australia (seen what’s been going on in Melbourne) etc. they usually just dismiss such statistics as racism and portray blacks as somehow victims of society.
        
        On a day to day basis I would argue that blacks pose more of a threat to civilised countries than Muslims do, by far the majority of violent street thugs in major European & American cities are black, and yet most civic nationalists totally ignore this because it doesn’t fit into their incessant anti-Muslim agenda.

How disappointed we were to see TVNZ News last evening taking the anti Government lead in the Teachers Union meeting in Auckland – the first of 52 teacher’s protest meetings.
What we saw was the bitterness of Angela Roberts one of the union leaders against the duly elected Government. Not by her of course, and her well paid cohorts.
We saw many hundreds of well fed lady middle aged so called protesters, taking the afternoon off to have a scream against Hekia Parata, who after a poor start, created by her own Ministry staff initially, has stood her ground and has said the we – the country, need to look at a better way of doing things. After all it was the unions who objected to David Lange’s created decile system which is now considered unfair – this is what the unions wanted remember.
What the Unions cannot understand that they do not control the Education system despite their belief otherwise. We the people of New Zealand elected this Government to protect the Taxpayer.
The Teachers Union only looks to its own interest not that of the children. It protects the system whereby all teachers are considered equal despite there being many very good teachers, some good but mediocre teachers plus many very poor teachers who in any other business would have been let go long ago. I understand that young teachers are having second thoughts about teaching as they can only see their futures blocked by poor elderly teachers, control over which the Principle cannot get as the unions will not allow anything but mediocrity.

To illustrate this look at the AIMS Games in Tauranga currently (National and International Intermediate children). There are 9,000 children taking part with 3,000 parents and teachers attending.
The enthusiasm at the official opening when the Rio Olympic Medal winners, many fro the BOP, went on stage. This is their example whereby all these athletes worked their guts out over many years to achieve their best performances at RIO.
The games children afterwards talked to many of them and the sheer delight that was to be seen shows what a great country we are. The pursuit of excellence is paramount and should be the role which our Teachers should strive to attain.

Not the whinging, whining by the “Haters and Wreckers” of the Teacher Unions (c/- H Clarke).

    The union and the teachers do not have the same interests. Teachers are generally decent people doing the best they can for our kids.
    
    Unions want to maximize the number of union members and that means small classes so lots of teachers are needed even if the limited budget means teachers therefore get paid less.
    
    Union don’t want any kind of performance measurement because that could lead to performance based pay which then leads to people being treated as individuals and maybe negotiating as individuals, which would make the union a lot less useful.

    Can probably blame National for this. In 1894 the Liberal Government (the Liberal Party later merged with the Reform Party to form the National Party) enacted the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act. This recognised unions and effectively required most employer and employee groups to form ‘unions’. Perhaps the term ‘union’ was too ‘blue collar’ for many workers and their unions, so they called themselves ‘Associations’ (Public Servants, Post Office workers, Post Primary Teachers, Police, etc), Institutes (Police Officers – Inspectors and higher, Primary Teachers, Marine Engineers, etc) or Societies (Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants). Some unions were unitary eg Public Service Association (originally represented ‘core’ public servants from cadets to General Manager) and Post Office for example while others represented different groups in an employer’s workforce (Police had 3 for sworn & commissioned officers + PSA for civilians while Railways had 4 – loco drivers, tradespeople, clerks guards shunters etc and professional/management). They were all effectively unions and Post Office staff finally called a spade a spade and renamed their union Post Office Union.

4. Were your 26 failures to recall information as set forth in the FBI interview notes in regard to the e-mail scandals due to health problems?

5. Why do you often have severe coughing fits?

6.       If you haven’t been keeping up with the news, the Democrat nominee for Vice-President is Tim Kaine. He’s a drug addict and epileptic.
      Should the President die (Roosevelt), be assassinated (Kennedy) or resign for being a crook (Nixon), the Vice-President takes over.
      This essentially means that the election choice is between Kaine, who will take office when (not if) Clinton dies or is incarcerated, and Pence, who will be delegated the presidency while Trump is busy doing something more interesting.

Andrew Little on Red Radio this am was praising those employers who go round and pick their workers up and make sure they have lunch etc. Then he said he would stop the schemes to get temporary workers in to do the jobs NZers won’t do. Does he want to bring the horticultural and other industries to their knees? Imagine having to go and pick up every lazy worker who can’t get out of bed to get them to an orchard for example and how would he cope with them suddenly buggering off when the work gets too much. Hold their hands and say it’s not your fault?!!! Another ballsup.

    I employ lads to work for me on occasion. landscaping is as hard yakka as any job.
    I have found plenty who turn up reliably and do a days work.
    The difference? I dont pay the bare minimum allowed by law and expect to get results .
    Pay peanuts get monkeys.

      In the last few years the corporates have planted acres and acres of trees and have trouble getting the numbers required to do the work.They pay the minimum and of course the work is mainly seasonal.
      Many of the family owned businesses still get locals and pay more than the minimum wage.

World University Rankings are in, and New Zealand’s eight universities remain in the top 3 per cent globally.

Despite competition internationally, six of the eight universities improved their rankings and two largely held their places.

This year the University of Auckland defended its position as New Zealand’s top ranked university, standing at 81 internationally.

Otago University rose four places to 169, closely followed by Canterbury and Victoria at 214 and 228th place.

Waikato moved up 77 places to rank 324, and Lincoln is up 68 places to 343.

The Auckland University of Technology also made significant gains – up 60 places to move into the top 450.

The QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) rankings assess universities across research, resourcing, graduate employability and internationalisation.

Chris Whelan, the executive director of Universities New Zealand, said the rankings are an extraordinary result and “something that New Zealanders should be proud of”.

“We are the only country in the world to have all our universities ranked within the top 500. If you are a young New Zealander thinking about where to do a degree, you can be confident of getting a world-class education at any of our universities.”

She could only handle approximately 10 minutes and then excused herself because if a coughing fit. She also looked terrible and very uncomfortable facing the press. She is not well stephieboy. There is a story bubbling up in the US regarding a payment made by the Trump Foundation to Bondi , the Florida attorney general in 2013 of $25,000 shortly after she advised her office was looking at complaints raised about Trump University. The case was then dropped. This has been a thing for months but has now surfaced because the Foundation is not permitted to make political donations and has paid a fine to the IRS because of this. It was further complicated by the Foundation reporting the donation as being to a genuine charity with a name similar to Bondi’s PAC. Trump is saying the payments were channelled through the Foundation in error although a cynical person might think that making the payment this way and claiming it was to a different entity with a similar name might make it look less like a bribe.
This could be the story of the week.

  And if someone wants to trade up they’ll need to go into hock again for about that in their 40’s even if they’ve already paid off their previous,

  To right nasska. Clearly houses are not expensive enough in Auckland as they continue to sell like hot cakes.
  
  Efforts to reduce the prices will, yet again, result in the rest of the country paying to support Aucklanders, to buy votes.
  
  Billions of dollars are taken out of productive regions to support Auckland and it is that which has fueled the price rises. If we cut Auckland welfare house prices will reduce.

    We started with a crappy old cottage financed with two mortgages & with the wife pregnant with our first. Within seven years we had bloody nice place with ten acres on the town boundary. All on a drivers wage & a part time job at the pub.

    The sheeple’s views on housing is truly one of the biggest mysteries of modern times.
    
    – If they haven’t got more than one then house prices rising don’t benefit them.
    – Why people would possibly think increasing the cost of shelter is a good thing. The inverse of the equation is that it requires a larger and larger % of ones wages to live. This is actually a sign of a country getting poorer, not wealthier.
    – To “buy” the house requires borrowing money a foreign bank creates out of thin air. They then spend 30 years working to pay of this money these Banksters created out of thin air.
    – who are they going to sell these fabulouslypriced houses to when the era of ponzi finance comes to an end and where will their kids buy (or do we just sell it all to foreigners and become serfs in our own land?)
    
    It was the norm to pay off mortgages in 5-7 years in my grandparents generation – don’t the sheeple ever wonder how such a wonderful situation could have arose?

Everyone with a mortgage is renting the banks house. Not only are they renting the banks house, but they are renting the money to pay for the rented house.

If the bank puts up the price of the rented money, then the rented house decreases in value, but you pay more in rent.

Hard to believe we accept this as normal, especially when you consider the money did not exist until you borrowed it. Money is created through lending when you promise to pay. This simple reality is not known, or believed, by the average gape jawed dimwit with $$ signs in their eyes.

    Our entire monetary system requires constant growth. If does not grow it will not remain static, but will collapse. We have a infinite growth model with finite resources.

Some Asian woman who has been in NZ thirteen years – I would believe just arrived. English level of a six year old. I’m not a fan of heavy non-adapting Asian accents.

Another Asian woman – family reunification – parents, brother or whatever. Buy two, get ten free. I wouldn’t be able to look at her face. She talks with an open-circled mouth that stays perfectly open and circular constantly. You can see *both* sets of teeth all the time – and gums. She could talk with a pastry cutter in her mouth. It reminds me of Alien or Predator or a piranha fish. It’s ugly and weird – I hate slack-jawed kiwis, the rates of which are lower but with Asians – there’s a heap of Asians with all kinds of weird crap like that. They don’t have the best teeth – and there they all are. She’s showing every last one of them. They way you do when then dentist wants a good look. Not attractive. Close your mouth a bit. You’re not catching ping pong balls mate.
