I often used to walk past Jim Moriarty’s garage… I thought all the kids there were part of his acting crew.
I had no idea that up to 12 kids in that locked garage were CYFS placements.

      Tamariki on display at a bird sanctuary yesterday:
      My wife and I were viewing birds in an aviary where there were a family of maori. A young girl, no more than four, picked up a stick and poked it through the netting continually at one of the birds, a young boy with her had also been involved. The mother or whatever it was in control did nothing.

  It will have no effect. State institutional care for young people is a wilderness inhabited by sadists and perverts. It continues from generation to generation. I hope they have ceased the solitary confinement and now provide underwear particularly in the cold weather.

    I wonder if there has been any assessment of the success of Moriarty’s transformational theatre on kids in CYFS care.
    
    This full-time, 24/7 residential programme, contracted through the Government’s National Bednight Provider Contract, Child Youth and Family, sees rangatahi live as whānau, marae style, alongside their mentor and tutors for somewhere between 18 months and three years.
    
    They eat, sleep, study and perform through an intensive series of education and rehabilitation programmes, where Māori theatre is key.

  I was once told by a young woman aspiring to be an actor that a certain well known Maori ‘director’ was a ‘bit naughty’ and had wandering hands. No names, no pack drill. I am of the opinion that the NZ theatre and film industries hold many Weinsteins, their stories just waiting to be told.

Wonder if anyone listened to interview on Red Radio this morning about a UN declaration re peasants.

New Zealand have seen sense and not signed this one but what was alarming was the UN guy that talked about Non binding agreements and how they were a mechanism to become embedded in International Law and through that mechanism they can become binding.
The sheer arrogance of the guy and his attitude toward NZ because we had not signed , was astonishing.
UN can foxtrot oscar.

      Well Gazza the truth about the Czech and politicians is so much discussed in public venues and gathering places, names and all. If this had happened in many western countries their parliaments would have exposed the whole sorry matter by now. Our MSM is too scared or too complicit, so that only leaves parliament. Interesting ‘open letter’ from drug dealing thug, Karel Sroubek, in today’s Herald. (It is also remarkably well written for someone for whom English is not a first language, but that’s another matter.)

He is, of course, extraordinarily unlucky that his bleating rant has been published so soon after the murder of Grace Millane. Yesterday your paper published a perfectly reasonable request from a number of respected NZ women (and, it must be said, a couple who are held in widespread contempt, such as the airheaded Lizzie Marvelley) that men should take greater ownership of their treatment of women; and that women must be taken seriously when they say they feel unsafe.

If the Czech druggie’s ex-wife feels unsafe, she is unsafe. He can’t blame the National Party or anyone else.

National need to pursue this to the very end. Did Sroubek’s clients include a part-time dad who likes to fish? Was that part-time dad’s number found on Sroubek’s phone when he was arrested? Did that part-time dad and/or his skanky girlfriend attend Sroubek’s wedding in Queenstown? And did Police try to do a favour for their former colleague, the NZ High Commissioner to Niue, by trying to shut down speculation about the fisherman earlier this year? The very precise wording of the statement seemed odd at the time, but now looks quite illuminating.

So many questions. If only we had a real media, and real investigative journalists who were prepared to ask them.

  Sroubek said Mitchell had failed to appreciate his former wife was a partner in the business which was used to import the MDMA drug.
  
  “He calls me a ‘gangster’ but, ironically, blindly (and conveniently) defends my business partner.”
  
  If Sroubek can’t see that those 2 sentences are THREATENING to his ex-wife, then he has a funny idea about not threatening anybody.

      How many people knew she was a business partner of her husband?

    Never criticise criminal defence lawyers because of the clients they represent. A lawyer is virtually essential for a fair trial and all things equal a lawyer must accept the case if asked. Judging guilt happens at the trial, it would be a abomination if lawyers pre-judge cases by declining to represent clients.
    A usually law abiding person if unlucky could be involved in an incident out of the blue and face a manslaughter charge or careless driving causing death charge. That person needs and would expect access to proper legal representation.

        I also have in mind the late Kevin Ryan QC. He was passed over being made a QC for a long time because as he put it ‘I did not have drinkies at the Northern Club’. He was made a QC soon after pointing this out.

Last night a guy rang talk back.
Devastated .
10 year relationship and a five year old daughter.
Two weeks ago after some arguing Mrs leaves.
Straight to cops and gets a non molestation order against him although all they did was argue.No violence.
Cops turn up 11 .30 one night take his air rifle.
He has spoken to his daughter on phone for 2 minutes in the last two weeks.
This morning one of the she men who signed the recent petition to prioritise gender based violence, (from Amnesty International ) talks of equality and more resources .
Stuff all those bent and twisted women that signed that petition.Stuff them and their hatred toward men and there continued destruction of our society.
Stuff them bigtime.

  I doubt the woman concerned, or any woman who uses the scape-goat of a phoney non-molestation order is worried about “their hatred toward men and there continued destruction of our society.” Their motivation is much more mercenary – to get as much control and sympathy out of the situation and therefore more financial control. Who wants to be seen to take their share of responsibility for a marriage breakup? It is so much easier to be seen as the victim and garner all that lovely sympathy.

I feel very sorry for fathers who are taken advantage of. There is a breakdown in all areas of society. Generations have been taught to take, take and take for their own benefit.   I was chatting to guy who had done research in prisons and interviewed some of the most violent criminals. A very high proportion of them had suffered child sex abuse as children. I think its and issue with both men and women as well. Some suggest that the reason it is never dealt with is because some influential people are involved. Who knows.

Still a lot of spin coming from the government, Mr Twyford in particular, about a housing crisis denied, deficit of 71,000 homes, 9 years of neglect. All to be fixed by Mr Twyford, one day, maybe. But hey, it’s hard so we might miss a few targets here and there.

Meantime, it will be interesting to see what happens to the number of private rentals nationwide, last (AFAIK) published as close to 600,000. The number of properties on the market is increasing according to Trademe listing numbers – 9% up on November last year in Auckland for example. One or two will be landlords selling up.

Equally of interest is whether landlords will continue to build new or buy off the plans, especially flow on impacts in the large new apartment market where many were traditionally bought as rentals. (Friend of mine lives in a 92 apartment complex, all tenanted except 2 owner occupied. That would not be unusual.

The following is from a professional investor, published elsewhere this week and reprinted with permission:

….. 2 years ago we invested multiples of our nett revenue to build more rental accommodation which had a large impact on capital values and a long term impact on nett profitability. This capital investment program has ceased. It will not restart until the business environment becomes less hostile. What this means in real terms is we won’t be building new housing and this could mean over the next decade 20 – 50 houses are not added to the rental supply.

Pretty much everything this govt has done with regard to housing has made it worse.

Wasted resources on building home that nobody wants. Changes to the rules around renting that, without exception, have caused rents to increase, demand to rise and supply to fall.

Probably the same in other policy areas too.

Answer me this. When will something actually stick and otherwise previously sensible people, often not solid labour supporters, stop giving them a pass and saying “at least they’re trying to do something.”

Since when did a govt trying and failing regularly become acceptable or indeed a good thing?

I would like to know how many other “institutions” the NZ government and the food banks around the country are sponsoring. If a family donates a tithe to the local church, then asks for more food from a food bank, is that sponsorship-by-stealth? If money is being sent overseas to assist families there and then hardship grants are being requested, is that money lost to the NZ economy? Likewise for family members living at home with no income. I would be interested to know what checks are performed before these extra “entitlements” are dished out, and whether the political right could make some traction over this with middle NZ.

  Yep, that’s happened to me before. We upgraded our lounge suite, they didn’t want our old one because it wasn’t good enough. It was perfectly good we just wanted a new look. I couldn’t believe the “needy” were so fussy. In the end we gave it to young friends just married and they were delighted. I’m rapidly going off the sallies who I used to admire.

We were suppliers to the Sallies for many years but gradually realised that while they were metaphorically buying short, they were actually selling very, very long; this for an organisation that supposedly assists the ‘poor’ by enabling them to purchase necessary items at a ‘discounted’ price.
      
      The ‘money’ has become the purpose.
      
      We switched to the Hospice and find that they don’t try to profit out of others misfortune and are more concerned wi.th the individual than the cash flow.

      That will stop tenants leaving and leaving behind all their belongings because its cheap to buy new ones from the opp shops. Its a bloody plague in the last couple of years. The landlord then has to store for 3 months and then dump.
      Off course the right thing to do is leave them on the front lawn of the new house.

A friend of a friend who lives in an outer arrondissement (spelling?) of Paris tells us that when taking the children to school she was threatened with severe damage to her car unless she donned a yellow vest to show her solidarity with the demonstrators. Her hubby has a construction company employing about 50 workers, predominantly Egyptian and Italian.

    The Liberty was a lightly armed surveillance ship.
    
    Only hours after the Liberty arrived it was spotted by the Israeli military. The IDF sent out reconnaissance planes to identify the ship. They made eight trips over a period of three hours. The Liberty was flying a large US flag and was easily recognizable as an American vessel.
    
    Soon more planes came. These were Israeli Mirage III fighters, armed with rockets and machine guns. As off-duty officers sunbathed on the deck, the fighters opened fire on the defenseless ship with rockets and machine guns.
    
    A few minutes later a second wave of planes streaked overhead, French-built Mystere jets, which not only pelted the ship with gunfire but also with napalm bomblets, coating the deck with the flaming jelly. By now, the Liberty was on fire and dozens were wounded and killed, excluding several of the ship’s top officers.
    
    The Liberty’s radio team tried to issue a distress call, but discovered the frequencies had been jammed by the Israeli planes with what one communications specialist called “a buzzsaw sound.”
    
    As the Liberty listed in the choppy seas, its deck aflame, crew members dropped life rafts into the water and prepared to scuttle the ship. Given the number of wounded, this was going to be a dangerous operation. But it soon proved impossible, as the Israeli attack boats strafed the rafts with machine gun fire. No body was going to get out alive that way.
    
    After more than two hours of unremitting assault, the Israelis finally halted their attack.

It was important that they never ever get the survivors together to discuss their ordeal. A most cunning stunt from stunning …. American Defence Forces.

Here is a good question.

Just who is Richie Hardcore?
1. We know that he has been involved with Cindy for some time. He was there at the launch of her bid for the Auckland Central seat (which she lost)
2. They have been together on numerous talk fests. Many aimed at lifting her profile
3. He was at the Hamilton Press club event Friday aggressively protecting the socialist left.
4. His name is Hardcore (by changing his name) but he appears to be a soyboy.
5. He appears to have major influence over Cindy but behind the scenes. Maybe her kindness, compassionite profile is being groomed by him.
6. This one is my view. They appear to have been intimately linked in the past.

Who is this guy, how is he benefiting or earning an income (OIA request any Govt money to Hardcore or associates)? What are his links to the gangs?

There are so many questions that need to be answered.

But what’s the story on NZ and the United Nations Compact on Migration? According to the UN web site an “intergovernmental” conference to adopt the compact took place in Marrakech, Morocco on December 10 and 11.

Where does NZ stand? On the Beehive site Winnie has one or two statements about horse racing, but I can’t see anything about the Compact on Migration.

Councils have been issuing non-notifed resource consents all over the place, knowing that people don’t have the 100k plus it takes to go to the environment court.

Happened near me, council gave a developer non-notified consent to exceed height rules which blocked off views to a whole bunch residents. But , affected residents didn’t want to stump up the 100k to go to court.

Finally, the first time I’ve seen a council given a trouncing by the nearby residents who are luckily wealthy enough to afford the environment court….

    What strikes me is how rare such qualities have become in the MSM. Usually, I see some airhead repeating their social media feed, or some even bigger airhead gunning for a job running Comms for the PM.

      People have been using substances to take the painful edge off their existences since forever Sam. Cannabis, kava, opium & alcohol are not recent inventions. Most people use social drugs occasionally yet regrettably there are & always will be those who want to live their lives in another dimension. It is for those that we suffer draconian social control laws.
      
      This allows conservatives power. It is they who say “alcohol good…..dope bad” & they get to dictate everyone else’s life according to their Skyfairies & prejudices.
      
      It is also why I’m determined to do everything I can to undermine & torment Chompers & her consort. The former has made it into a position where she can change laws but won’t because she’s scared of a few nutters in the electorate. On the other hand it would appear that people close to her are using whatever drugs they wish at will & with few consequences.
      
      More than anything on this planet I loathe hypocrisy.

January 2015: Virginia Roberts files court papers in Florida claiming that she was forced by Epstein to have sex with Prince Andrew and lawyer Alan Dershowitz when she was underage. In a sworn affidavit, she provides photographs of her with the prince and with Epstein’s close associate, British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell. She claims Maxwell worked as Epstein’s madam, which she denies. Dershowitz and the prince deny her claims as well, setting off a series of legal actions between Dershowitz and Roberts’ attorneys that are later resolved in an out-of-court settlement.

June 2016: A lawsuit is filed in Manhattan by a woman who once used the name Katie Johnson, claiming that she was raped by then-presidential candidate Donald Trump at a party at Epstein’s Manhattan mansion in 1994 when she was 13 years old. Trump and Epstein both categorically deny it ever happened.

November 2016: Johnson backs out of a press conference just days before Election Day, saying she had been threatened and was fearful. She later drops the lawsuit. ….
