CREWE Homicide Investigation Review Analytical Report (2014) New Zealand Police

I have been following this case on a Stuff podcast series. There are very many issues in this case but one that I have focused on was who feed 18 month baby Rochelle Crewe.

I refer to para 18 of the review final report where they say it is improbable that Rochelle CREWE was fed or provided with fluids after being put to bed on the evening of Wednesday 17 June 1970 and prior to being found on Monday 22 June 1970 in a state of neglect.it is improbable that Rochelle CREWE was fed or provided with fluids after being put to bed on the evening of Wednesday 17 June 1970 and prior to being found on Monday 22 June 1970 in a state of neglect.

I then refer to the report by the Independent Counsel, David Jones. He states, “All
experts are of the opinion that Rochelle would have been able to survive 5 days or longer.

Jones is either lying or incompetent. There were pediatricians not paid for by the government with a different view. One only has to look at Dr Google to find that many adults will not last 5 days without fluid. A child is less likely to.

If Rochelle had not been given fluid for almost 5 days she would have been in a very distressed state and any grandfather who was not a monster would have got her immediate medical treatment. Len Demler first call was to the stock agent.

Not of this proves Demler was the murderer. It may have been a murder suicide. Demler could have known the killer or encouraged or paid the killer.

The thing I find disturbing is that the police reveiw says that Demler was in no way involved, However, they are still trying to link the Thomas family to the murder.

If Rochelle was fed then someone connected to the killer had to have fed her. There is not way Thomas’s wife would have done so. It was likely Demler’s widow Norma who fed Rochelle.

Des Thomas has been fobbed off by Ardern and Little. What does that say for Little’s innocent project which I agree with in in principle?

  Although the topic is difficult to study in experiments due to ethical issues, dehydration is a serious medical issue. The consensus appears to be that an adult can survive up to 100-120 hours without any fluid intake in ideal conditions, and babies typically considerably less because of their higher metabolic rate and lower overall volume.
  
  So the chances of Rochelle Crewe surviving the around 100 hours or so that she appeared to have to emerge in a non-emergency treatment state would appear to be negligible. Thus either the reported time gap is wrong, or she was fed (with liquids) at least once and probably more often.
  
  That the police report still attempts to pin the crime on Thomas strongly suggests that those responsible for the report should be removed from their duties immediately and cashiered; along with an introductory course on police ethics which includes instruction on how planting evidence to attempt to gain a conviction is strictly illegal.

  The Police took the child to four different pediatricians (who were unaware that the Police were shopping around) and used the opinion that best suited the case. The Defence was unaware of the opinions from the other three (this incident led to the rule that Prosecution must disclose to the defence all evidence, not just the evidence it plans to present (exception – the Prosecution need not present evidence to be used to blow an alibi out of the water). The main question put to the pediatricians was how long the baby had been left untended and unfed.
  It is unfair to say that the pediatrician whose evidence was used gave the evidence the Police wanted. He was one of Auckland’s most prominent pediatricians who strongly advocated for Starship Hospital. He would not have been ‘brought off’ by the Police or anyone else.

    If Rochelle was not given fluid for four and a half days she would have been in very poor shape and Demler would have sought immediate medical help.
    
    The fact that he didn’t indicates she was at least given fluid and he knew she had been feed.
    
    Bush is a disgrace and so is David Jones, QC. How can they say Demler did not feed Rochelle or know she had been feed.

So a whole lot of beaches in Auckland are unsafe for swimming. https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=12182749 Where are the Greens, or their activist surrogate Dr Mike Joy, leading protest marches and vocally decrying the problem in the press? Could it be that this is caused by human sewage and not dirty dairying? No virtue signalling bonus points being reminded of that.
I note that many of the beaches are in the catchment of the high Green voter turnout electorates. Maybe they should clean up their own mess first, rather than preaching what others should do. Or how about rather than seeking diversity ticks and pursuing vanity projects, council just fixes the infrastructure. After all, that is only the main reason for their existance.

    G152, you are correct there. However, the farms of Rodney and Franklin that all have there own on property sewerage systems are obligated to pay Goofy’s targeted rate to fix the problem.
    
    The issue is ridiculous, and the media press releases are patronisingly ignorant in the extreme.
    
    The problem is portrayed as a modern problem caused by infill housing, this is BS, as the problem has been known about for more than 20 years. The problem is simple the areas Auckland on the city side of the harbour have drains that mix sewerage with storm water that flows into the harbour. As C James so eloquently wrote, this is the voting catchment areas of the Green Party in Auckland.

      Perhaps hullkiwi tah nobody is looking at how many properties in the areas of contamination have their down pipes hooked into the sewer lines? The simple smoke test is the quickest way to see this is the case. However after more than 3 decades of ignoring infrastructure even the ACC are frightened to look as they will have signed off all that pipe work. Luckily Labour has stepped in to the breach to shoulder all this past neglect. They will be hoping that none of the boat race crews do not end up in the harbor with as many as 24 beaches contaminated to various levels. Be interesting to see a map of all the dirty beaches and how they surround the event?

  I was saddened to realise from the news reports, some of those beaches have been closed for swimming for 20 years! When all the rush for in-fill housing was being approved by the council why did they not delay approvals until the infrastructure was in place? If the regulatory requirements were not in place, there was certainly the Green party and it’s long list of environmental activists. Where were they, why have we not seen wailing and gnashing of teeth from them and their supporters on every closed beach in Auckland?!! Where are you Greens???

  Completely agree. But that article is riddled with inaccuracies and looks like a press release from the current Mayor to drum up hysteria and appear as if he is fixing it. Fake news 1. Piha and Bethells Beaches are listed as dirty. They are not. Their water quality is measured as some of the cleanest in the city. It’s the Piha and Bethells lagoons that have the issues. 2. Goff says that the Western suburbs are receiving the investment from the Water targeted rate. False. The Western Isthmus Water project that receives the bulk of the funding stormwater seperation is Stormwater seperation for St Marys Bay, Westhaven marina etc. Nothing to do with the Titirangi Beaches or the Western beaches. Who are receiving next to nothing from that rate. 3. The Safeswim monitor isn’t actually real time data. It is predictions based on historical data and water flows. Apparently, they stopped monitoring those beaches. 4. Safeswim also said Piha wasn’t patrolled yesterday – it was. 5. Completely agree stop spending our council money on “green education” and virtue signalling” and fix the infrastructure.

  Ashburton River, for decades greens decry dirty farming as cause of high levels of intestinal bacteria in river water. Recent intensive study has proven it is bird life in the riverbed.   I looked at some of the links. Then I recalled that Michael Reddell at Croaking Cassandra had done some excellent posts on the targets set by Shaw and the Productivity Commission report so beloved of Griff. Mr Reddell’s posts pointed out the many deficiencies in the report and the problems with Shaw’s claims. however, there was no point suggesting to Griff that he read them, as he would dismiss them out of hand as they do not accord with his frankly nonsensical views.

    Rendell’s point was not to contest the science of climate change. It was to argue that the Greens’ proposals for dealing with it are likely to be economically damaging and environmentally counterproductive. It’s the same point that Damien Grant was making in a recent Stuff article. You don’t have to put yourself in opposition to science to be opposed to Shaw.

      I agree with you. I do not deny climate change, nor was my comment on Your NZ a denial. It was a condemnation of the claims made by Shaw and the apparent failure to fully understand the economic and political consequences of the approach proposed. Griff just assumed that I was anti climate change, simply because I questioned some of the nonsense arguments advanced. However, I adopt a sceptical view of arguments adavnced by cultists such as Griff.

    You don’t have to read many of his posts, if you wade through the gratuitous abuse, to realise he is a very authoritive idiot. He doesn’t know what he is talking about, just reposts from stuff that confirms his bias.

    Yes it seems the British Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt attended church on Christmas Day and had his conscience pricked over his government’s refusal to give asylum to Asia Bibi, the Pakistani Christian who spent 10 years on death row for blasphemy, because of protests from the British Muslim Council. So he’s asked the Anglican bishop of Truro to look into the question of the persecution of Christians in the Middle East and elsewhere and to report back to him by Easter. Just kicking the can down the road…but it made him feel better while tucking into his turkey.

  i don’t think it makes a mockery of my intentions. I keep encouraging reasonable standard of etiquette and discourage rude and obnoxious comments. It works fairly well most of the time, but there will always be challenges when moderating – and it’s impossible to please all of the people all of the time, especially when people have agendas and others try to discredit and shut down views they have opposing agendas for.
  
  I’m well aware of attempts to influence who should be free to speak – and attempts to shut down speech they don’t want aired.
  
  And as with any blog I’m not babysitting 24/7, especially at present when I’m as much on holiday as I can be.
  
  I find it a bit ironic that standards of behaviour elsewhere are being criticised here at Kiwiblog, where I think the standards are frequently as bad as or worse than what is being complained about here.

      I have done volunteer work helping people on a one-to-one basis for the past 26 years and I am currently volunteering in two different positions with one particular organisation. None of my volunteer work has ever involved trying to change people’s minds for or against any religion, nor has it involved lobbying government in any way or pushing any particular social or political agenda.

One evening, after watching a play, two gentlemen were walking down the street when they observed a rather well dressed and attractive young lady walking ahead of them. One of them turned to the other and remarked, “I’ll give you $500 to spend the night with that woman.”

To their surprise, the young lady overheard their remark, turned around, and replied, “I’ll take you up on that offer.”
After bidding his friend good night, the man accompanied the beautiful young lady to her apartment.

The following morning, as he prepared to leave, the man gave her $250. She demanded the rest of the money, stating, “If you don’t give me the other $250, I’ll sue you for it”.   He laughed, saying “I’d like to see you get it on these grounds.”
Within a few days, he was surprised when he received a summons ordering his presence in court as a defendant in a lawsuit. He hurried to his lawyer and explained the details of the case. His lawyer said, “She can’t possibly get a judgment against you on such grounds, but it will be interesting to see how her case will be presented”.
After the usual preliminaries, the lady’s lawyer addressed the court as follows:
“Your honor, my client, this lady, is the owner of a piece of property, a garden spot, surrounded by a profuse growth of shrubbery, which property she agreed to rent to the defendant for a specified length of time for the sum of $500. The defendant took possession of the property, used it extensively for the purposes for which it was rented, but upon evacuating the premises, he paid only $250, one-half of the amount agreed upon. The rent was not excessive since it is restricted property, and we ask judgment be granted against the defendant to assure payment of the balance.”
The defendant’s lawyer was not only surprised but also impressed and amused by the way his opponent had presented the case. Naturally, his defense of his client was somewhat different from the way he originally planned to present it. He rose to the occasion:
“Your honor,” he said, “My client agrees that the lady has a fine piece of property, that he did rent such property for a time, and a degree of pleasure was derived from the transaction. However, my client found a well on the property around which he placed his own stones, sunk a shaft, and erected a pump, all labor performed personally by him. We claim these improvements to the property were sufficient to offset the unpaid amount, and that the plaintiff was adequately compensated for the rental of said property. We, therefore ask that judgment not be granted.”
The young lady’s lawyer answered:
“Your honor, my client agrees that the defendant did find a well on her property. However, had the defendant not known that the well existed; he would never have rented the property. Also, upon evacuating the premises, the defendant removed the stones, pulled out the shaft, and took the pump with him. In doing so, he not only dragged the equipment through the shrubbery, but left the hole much larger than it was prior to his occupancy, making the property much less desirable to others. We, therefore, ask that judgment be granted.”
In the Judge’s decision, he provided for two options: (a) Pay the remaining balance of $250 to the plaintiff; or (b) have the equipment (the stones, shaft, and pump) detached from its current location and provide it to the plaintiff for damages.”
The defendant wrote out a check immediately.

Why can’t we have judges this astute here.

To re-iterate, they found NONE of the antigens the vaccine was supposed to contain. ZERO. That means this particular vaccine is completely useless in the best case scenario, worst case it’s population control/human experimentation.

        Measles, mumps, rubella, smallpox, polio, diphtheria and TB are all largely or entirely absent in the population because of vaccination. Anti-vaxxers are protected by herd immunity, but they shouldn’t be allowed to compromise it.

  Oh, here we go again with more vaccine pseudoscience that makes the anti-vaccine religion fall on their knees and genuflect as if real science was presented. This time it is garbage science from an Italian anti-vaccine group, Corvelva, that tries to claim that vaccines don’t contain anything but toxins. They laughably believe that vaccines don’t even contain antigens.
  
  Yes, you read that right. This amateur group “published” (and by published, I don’t mean in a real peer-reviewed journal, I mean a pdf file on the internet). Obviously, this ranks near the bottom, if not the bottom, of the hierarchy of scientific research. But we’ll get to all of that – let’s take the time to dig through the nonsense presented by this fake “study.”
  
  WTF is Corvelva?
  
  This is a valid question since it goes to the respectability of research. First of all, Corvelva doesn’t even have a Wikipedia page. The online encyclopedia has a standard of “notability” for any new articles, so apparently, either no one has bothered to give them an article. Or they have, and it’s been deleted by administrators for not being notable. That’s a small point.
  
  Their website is 100% or so in Italian, so it’s difficult to get a full grasp of what they do or don’t do. But, as far as I can tell, it is pure, unadulterated, science denying anti-vaccine junk. They talk about how the Incredible Hulk, Lou Ferrigno, having to go to the hospital after receiving the pneumococcal vaccine. According to a thorough analysis by the indignent Orac, “my best guess is that he either had a really bad local reaction or a hematoma and went to the ER. For some reason, it appears that he was briefly admitted to the hospital. Neither of these is life-threatening or reasons not to get vaccinated according to the CDC recommended schedule.” In other words, there’s nothing there, but Corvelva is all over it.
  
  In addition, Corvelva mentions Sheri Tenpenny several times. Tenpenny is a lunatic who pushes lies about vaccines, despite zero published evidence supporting any of her claims. Tenpenny, who has no background in any field of science related to vaccines, is a favorite of that ultra-nationalist nutjob, Alex Jones…..”

    The main study cited against ‘loons’ is from De Stefano et al 2004. The CDC did a long study looking specifically at autism and vaccines.
    
    They said there was no correlation.
    
    CHD board member Dr Brian Hooker reanalysed the data to duplicate it using the CDCs own method and data after a CDC whistle blower contacted him. Hooker is an expert biochemist etc with decades of experience.
    
    He found a very strong statistically significant relationship between the timing of MMR vaccinations and autism. From the CDCs own study. Said study claiming the opposite.
    
    Hookers’ findings were published 7 December 2018 on the Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons.
    
    Dr William Thompson who was a senior scientist at the CDC was a whistle blower and said they were instructed to leave out statistically significant findings. By ((inidividuals)) at the CDC who love to talk about all their Nobel Prizes for string theory and gender theory etc.

Let’s assume the assertion “man is causing dangerous levels of global warming” is true.

What I want to know is – what specific actions to people need to take in order to reduce the warming to safe levels?

Is it “changing lightbulbs”? Is it “not driving cars”? Is it “not having babies”?

What, exactly, are the actions that lead to the desirable temperature state? There appears to be quite random acts of virtue signalling, like “shutting down Taranaki”. Well, does “shutting down Taranaki” reduce global temperature by x? How does one know?

If humans are the cause, shouldn’t there be less humans? In which case, shouldn’t the Greens be openly opposed to child benefits in the same way they are openly opposed to fossil fuel exploration? If not, why not?

For what it is worth, I think the science has been hijacked by political agendas, and is drenched in virtue signalling fanaticism – but curious to know what actions adherents consider sufficient to avoid catastrophe and for them to explain why, illustrating the cause and effect.

Just come back from an overnighter in Hamilton where we stayed at a prebooked mid range motel that we had been to many times before.
Only problem this time was it had changed hands with a Chinese guy in charge now who is obviously money hungry as he has filled the place up with Social Welfare clients.
What a bloody shithole it has become with people just sitting outside the units smoking all day, poorly dressed kids running riot and body odour ever present.
I complained to the owner about the situation and all he said was “the government pays very good” so that pretty much summed it up for me as I told him that I hoped all the savages he had there would completely wreck the place then he would find out that there is more to running a business than just taking money from anyone who waves it under your nose in this case WINZ.
Will get into the habit in future if prebooking accommodation to ask first if they take welfare referrals so I can make sure I don’t stay there.
Disgusting experience.

  We used to go to a nice motel in Lower Hutt when we went down there. They also now have the place filled with bennies. Like your place in Hamilton this one is a shithole now too. People up all night talking, drinking, yelling and cars coming and going. It was a very unpleasant stay. Not owned by Chinese – this one by Indians.

I can remember a time, not so long ago, when they were adequately housed. The “homelessness” that we see now is directly due to under supply of housing, meaning rents have become unaffordable for this same seam of dysfunctional people in our society. The Telegraph reports that 300 people have been rescued from the English Channel since November.

After 7 years of medical training and hard work, a very good friend of mine has been struck off after one minor indiscretion.

He slept with one of his patients (they were best friends) and can now no longer work in the profession he loves.

What a feckin’ waste of time, effort, training and money.

She (Ashley Insley) is quoted in the final kicker of the report:

Recently, a Maori patient came into the hospital. Insley watched as he refused to engage with the consultant, and then disappeared from the ward. When security brought him back, she approached, said kia ora, and told him her name.

“As soon as he knew I was Maori he was really engaged. It turns out we were related,” she says. “He listened, and understood we wanted him to get better. And that is why this stuff is important, so we can help people.”

An interesting question is, if you refuse to “engage” with a person on racial grounds, are you being racist?

As a “physically inferior Quisling Uriah Heap bugman soy gurgling types worm type” I must have been bloody lucky to make 18 years chauffeuring stock, five years part time as a pub bouncer, doing a stint at forestry & finishing off with thirty years as a cocky. All that on red meat & full cream milk!
