What is happening in NZ under this Labour led Coalition with serious assaults leading to death weekly with murder on the rise also. When National were on power it was we didn’t have enough Police aggravated Robberies were happening daily but that has not been as prominent as more serious crime has taken over, with Labour wanting to cull our prison numbers and let the greater portion of our prison population back on the streets.

  I also believe that 2019 suicide stats will be really bad.
  
  It is hard for govt to fix these problems but they like to tell you that they have the solution.
  
  My concern is how bad it is despite the economy doing well for around 8 years. How bad is it going to get when we have the next recession??

  I suggest that women who belong to other faith- based groups should now contact the Prime Minister to ask that similar leadership training opportunities be made available for them.
  And funded by the Government as some sort of pay for votes scheme, presumably.
  For example:
  The NZ Catholic Women’s League
  The NZ Association of Anglican Women
  The Presbyterian Women of Aotearoa/NZ
  Etc, etc.

    Maybe her wearing the hijab to address Muslims after the Christchurch massacre might have been understandable.
    But waltzing up to a Muslim girls’ school in one is unnecessary and probably counterproductive.
    Even Muslim dads have complained about how sexist this school is (in the Manukau Courier).
    Last time I drove near it, I saw some twit in a burqa.

‘Bootcamp’ for Muslim women interested in politics?
After being asked about pathways for the Muslim community to be involved in leadership roles, Ms Ardern said she wanted to create what she called a “politics bootcamp”.
“I would love for us to create a forum where we can spend some time together as… politicians and women with those who are interested in taking on leadership roles.”
Ms Ardern said she wanted to come back to Auckland to have that discussion.

A Cabinet Paper reveals Shane Jones is dependent on commercial forestry to plant 770 million trees before 2028 so he will only ever have to hopefully plant 230 million of them, less than a quarter of the billion Labour has promised to help allay global warming, or weather change.

In the same time, though, commercial forestry has a 95% cutting rate, which one assumes means elsewhere in their holdings, they will fell 731.5 million trees, leaving Shane a balance of only 38.5 million to add to his 230 million, giving just over a quarter (268.5m) of the promised billion total.

This of course is an utter betrayal of all the school aged protesters who are about to again strike and march try to persuade the Government to act on climate change.

But meanwhile a very unpopular report says that such carbon sequestration as provided in forest “carbon sinks” is only temporary and just “kicks the can down the road”.

Ardern’s statement that weather change is this generations “nuclear moment” is one slogan that is correct in this respect – carbon sequestration in forestry is akin to the problem of dealing with nuclear waste – a future worry for someone else, such as today’s children.

So Shane’s ineptitude in getting the nephews off their couches to plant his forests is actually a blessing.
Mostly just bloody words (mangled pretentious so-called oratory in his case) or yet another empty conversation in Ardern’s terms.

Which one also hopes will be the case with Ardern’s talk of a ‘bootcamp’ for Muslim women interested in politics.

When the most hope you can have in a Government, is that they will just have endless “conversations” about stuff and actually do stuff all, it is a good indication voters should be looking elsewhere than at anything Winston can cobble together.

    The Labour party obviously have a real problem dealing with the fallout of depraved incidents that appear to occur on a regular basis, that could include the highest office in the land.
    Maybe you should be directing your question to the Prime Minister and all her office and minders.
    I would think Maggy has more morality in her little finger than the blockers of justice.

        Labour head Office made some rather disturbing decisions, no police involvement, no information to parents of “children” attending and allegedly assaulted some only 15 years old??? and little effort for provision of professional help for victims.
        
        Professional help for alleged victims offered one month after alleged offending.

You make a good point.
The Labour party is 0-2 with regard to sexual assaults against minors and women this past year that we know of.
Considering their propensity to cover up crimes by it’s members rather than be the most transparent government ever.

Maybe the NZ Police should investigate the Labour party leadership.
Ohh and especially for Liquor licensing law infringements, IE supplying alcohol to minors.

Although maybe that won’t work, as for some people I can understand that the NZ Police isn’t a fair and impartial organisation.

After all they pursue clubs and bars almost religiously with the Liquor Laws.
But appear to have done nothing in the Year since the Labour Party allegedly supplied alcohol to minors at a Labour Party Youth camp>
The Camp in June last year where some youths were sexually assaulted (allegedly) by a Labour party functionaries family member.

It’s nowhere near the same, but our local school, under an old fashioned headmaster now sadly retired, turned out highly literate and numerate kids who achieved above their age level. At 12, my daughter was able to proof read my stuff, and pick out the odd typo…I’m prepared to bet most of her peers could so the same…so long as they had been through Kaukapakapa School…

Kiwis are being FLEECED by cafes through the entirety of NZ. With bugger tax content the gross margins are huge. How dare they add a margin to cover costs and pay themselves.
According to the ‘PM’ Kiwis are being fleeced by petrol companies in NZ. The ‘PM’ is so concerned and angered by it that she has added further taxes to the price. Who is the main fleecer and is she going to look into all companies that she considers to have an unacceptable gross profit margin? Does she understand that companies pull out of investing when returns arent there? NO.

The China/US trade spat is interesting in that Trump is doing what past Presidents have failed to do. This time he has cross Party support and though the Dow will rock back and forth for a while, China’s economy is built on a shaky base, nowhere near as solid as the American one. With the advances in manufacturing it is not vital for goods to be made in China, and the tariffs being thrown about are merely posturing by both sides.

Reinstate oil and gas, make the announcement in Taranaki, but commit all royalties to subsidize electric vehicles for kiwis.

Main tax policy of adjusting the tax bracket creep every year, I believe they have already announced this, but make sure kiwis completely get it, by selling it hard.

A massive infrastructure project, with a four lane highway stretching the length of NZ. Alongside a railway line that does the same.

A massive increase in Pharmacs budget, alongside their cancer agency plan

An overhaul of local body governance, tie rate increases to inflation to begin with, Big selling point in the regions especially.

Consolidate DHBs, into 6 or 7 DHBs instead of 20

Overhaul of RMA to get this country building, untie kiwis hands

Massive increase in the conservation budget

Remove student bribe, remove working for families, set up spending card scheme for beneficiaries, bill’s and food paid for before pokies.

Do away with the provincial growth fund

Increase research and development

Reduce company tax rate

Compulsory kiwisaver and increase employer contribution to 5%

I know many wont agree with some or all of that, but that’s my opinion. Please share your own.

No provincial growth fund or tertiary education bribe, plus cut the fat off government and use that money for pharmac and conservation. Oil and gas royalties pay for the electric vehicle subsidy. There’s heaps of many to do all of that, it simply comes down to priorities. I believe kiwis would buy into a large infrastructure spend, as long as they can see the benefit of it.

In referring to the latest victims of Labour’s sexual harassment culture, she has omitted to mention that the alleged perpetrator works in the prime minister’s office. By omitting that, she is careful not to implicate Jacinda directly in any way, referring to it more as a Labour ‘culture’ issue. If it is true that the accused works in Jacinda’s office, then it is glaringly obvious that this problem goes right to the top.

But, it is understood, the Prime Minister can and has stated that so far she is yet to have an official complaint or that such a complaint has not been made to the Police.

Not that the Police have never acted without a complaint.

And I for one will never celebrate the gains we have made for women domestically, while internationally other women and girls experience a lack of the most basic of opportunity and dignity.

Walked out of mass this morning when the visiting priest devoted his sermon to the coming ‘climate change apocalypse’, the joy of banning plastic shopping bags and the need for us to reduce our carbon footprints. I don’t go to church to hear political speeches on behalf of the Green Party. The only time I have ever walked out before was when the priest lectured us on the virtues of socialism and the evils of capitalism. Not happy that I made a very obvious statement this morning by walking out in a very public and obvious manner but sometimes a guy has just gotta do what a guy’s gotta do.

Th language of New Zealanders being “fleeced” on petrol prices is invalid for two reasons.

Firstly, if, and it is a big if, you can get more competition into the wholesale market, you might reduce prices by 10 cents per litre. That is about 4 percent of current retail prices. That is not “fleeced”.

Secondly, if petrol prices fall, emissions go up. So the government would need to take more action to meet the Paris targets. So consumers would just pay some other way, eg a more stringent ETS. Logically, a government would only welcome lower petroleum prices if it had no policy of reducing greenhouse emissions. Because, other things being equal, every market driven fall in prices must be offset by an equivalent tax increase.

The elephant in the room for motorists is that the petrol tax is being diverted. As Steven Joyce points out in an opinion piece today, in the current forecast period, only 11 percent of petrol tax will be spent on new State Highway construction. And it is forecast to fall further. Now that is being fleeced.

Would be nice to seem some less hysterical reporting on the brazilian rainforest fires.

I did a quick check, and as at 2018, the brazilian rainforest is at 80% of the 1970 level.

I imagine it could drop a percentage or so due to this years fires.

The rainforests are incredible places , would be sad to see them replaced by desert. Brazil is a fairly lawless country, hard to see how they can solve this.

Another weekend goes by with more deaths on the road and it seems Twyford and Genters road safety plan or plans doesn’t seem to be working. Well it been nearly two years now and our road toll keeps increasing even after spouting about how we would get a zero road toll under the Greens, so the same old story pushing the same shit on how they will fix this major problem.

Okay so I costed our trip to Europe and for business AirNZ want to sting us for $21k. So off to Emirates where first class feckin’ suites are only $28k. Biz is $13k.

Same with our Bali flights, mixed-class AirNZ is $11k and Emirates $4k – and you have to go via Singapore with AirNZ to get lie-flat.

Even better to find out that the same UK route 35% cheaper if you happen to be travelling ex-UK.

Seriously why is anyone flying with Air New Zealand? I’m completely baffled by it.
