  What an embarrassing spectacle that was. The classy response to an insult, especially an unintentional one, is not to respond, or laugh it off as beneath you. But no, these are professional offense-takers, and they couldn’t resist the opportunity to take offense in front of the cameras.

  Watching the Coronation last night I saw two people who have dedicated their lives to serving as King and Queen of New Zealand. I trust them and respect them to do just that.
  Contrast this with the vile feral misfits who call themselves a Parliament. In the past week two have demonstarted their only interest in self interest or the interests of their Party. They have no interest in serving the citizens. They regard the citizens as peasants a problem to be tolerated while they get on with the real work of enriching themselves their rellies and their mates.
  I say any citizens who has any respect for these pond lives are sad naive fools. They are playing you like a fiddle.

  The above video includes one, a blue box below the video, the purpose of which, according to YT:

  What I find unsurprising about this is Carlson’s hypocrisy. He was happy to tell lies for Fox in exchange for a healthy salary, right up until he got fired.
  
  And Dominion wasn’t the first time.
  People seemed to have forgotten that Fox had previously argued in court that people should not believe what Carlson stated were facts.
  He didn’t seem to mind a lack of truth in the media landscape then.

    Without considering the merits of Carlson’s case in particular, they all tell lies (or at least avoid the truth when it suits) for a healthy salary. That is their job.
    
    The amazing thing here is that you seem to genuinely think that this model is restricted to Fox, when that is the essential purpose of the entire MSM without exception.

  So why did Fox dump its best performer?
  More commentators including Scott Adams are coming out with the idea Blackrock invested in Fox to oust Carlson because of his far reaching opposition to ESG.

    Short term profits sometimes have to make way for ensuring that the public’s information access continues to be well-regulated, and along with it, their attitudes and opinions. The status quo is maintained by strict narrative conformity, and an emphasis towards focusing the mass-mind on things that are “right” to think about, while distracting from those that are “wrong.” Sure, Fox is a business, but, more significantly, it also part of a wider power elite network, a set of institutions that has an even bigger investment in keeping the masses unaware and acting and thinking in the interests of the power elite.
    
    I always found Tucker relatively orthodox and establishment-friendly, compared to the true truth-tellers who would never have been allowed on Fox and have been heavily de-platformed, but he obviously got close enough to the taboos that he finally had to go.

        I largely agree. Get him in an informal interview setting, and he’s not a million miles away from an MSNBC host. I guess even the fake opposition started to get a bit too spicy! I think that Tucker’s role was to offer an “alternative” narrative that was safe enough to act as a pressure valve and steer people away from what led to the 2016 “revolution.”

        Carlson is a true child of the Elites.
        His father is from a rich Californian farming family and his mother from a rich Californian industrial family. The marriage of two dynasties.
        He went to Private schools and had all the benefit of their wealth.
        MSNBC, CNN and then Fox.
        Quite Conservative I think he wore bow ties until his 30’s.
        But now he has seen how corrupt and manipulative the MSM is today and their alliance with Tech coys and Government- especially all the Democrats in Govt (cough Intelligence community)
        He is not Foxs friend or of any mainstream MSM.

Been thinking about the way Maori in politics may be considered outside the beltway, by actual voters and their families. I don’t know really, and suppose it would not be considered a suitable question for polls. Or for people to air opinions outside family and close friends, And even then, maybe not.

I think though that commenters on Kiwiblog have been on the negative side, but suspect there is a turning of the tide out there in voter land. Ordinary folk who try to do the right thing but don’t like what they are seeing – headlines, co-governance, politicians including the previous Prime Minister bailing, Ihumatao (big hat, no cattle). It all adds up.

We may not have a different government later this year, but if we do they will have to tread carefully. Like quietly turning down the flow of taxpayer money to some initiatives. Best not to call it a policy bonfire.

Shy Tories. Quiet Australians. Uneasy Kiwis?

  As we saw during Covid, there are so many who are completely clueless, naive and unable to think critically, who will accept whatever the idiot box or their curated Facebook and Twitter feeds tell them to believe. We also saw that, even if some others have an awareness and unease, they will nonetheless just go along to get along, because that is considered preferable to the horrific prospect of standing out from the docile herd.
  
  So I think that, overall, things are not looking good at the moment – only a severe case of “buyer’s remorse” may change attitudes, when they start to see the concrete negative implications of what seems to them like a fluffy “social justice” fairytale at this point. But the more it entrenches itself, the more impossible it becomes to extract later on.
  
  Both political courage and public foresight are seriously lacking at the moment. And think about it: this situation is mostly due to wanting to avoid being called “racist.” It’s actually quite unbelievable how effective and how deep this pseudo-moral mind virus is amongst the masses.

        Because the wider issue is an ongoing top-down transformative socio-political agenda. It isn’t now and has never been about minorities in themselves – minorities are dispensable agents of social subversion.
        
        If this agenda required tomorrow that so-called trans people were open to being abused and insulted (for the benefit of some new minority group), that change would happen in a heart beat, and a new minority du jour would arise. Mr/Ms (or whatever) Lal is just a tool in more ways than one, just like Feminists are/were.
        
        What does it tell us? It tells us that women’s rights were themselves merely an instrument for radical social subversion. That instrument isn’t needed to the extent that it was previously. Now that trans is the new instrument of subversion, women are becoming dispensable as political instruments (although higher up the victim hierarchy than men). “Women” (i.e. as a rights cause) have already been weaponised against society, and they have done the damage they were intended to do, so they can be subordinated to their successors, the trannies.
        
        While, say, women and gays are still higher up the totem pole of victimhood than White straight males, they have lost some of their status and have been supplanted to some degree by the new victims, the “trans” community. However, they’ll eventually be displaced too when their time comes.

  Stuff had an article about NZ becoming a republic. They are delusional to think that such a future will happen. Removing the current constitutional arrangements will I assume lead to Iwi wanting full control of the country based on the nullification of the Treaty. This will end up in the Supreme Court who will most likely come down in favour of a Tribal governance structure. I am in favour of retaining the status quo.

    This is the issue that needs to be debated with every person wanting NZ to dump the monarchy.
    
    Ask them one question. “What do we replace it with?”
    
    The simple fact is, love it or loathe it, it works.
    
    We live in a self governing country, based on democratic principles.
    
    The overthrow of the English Monarchy ended with Cromwell installing himself as monarch in all but name, so much so that his Son assumed the role of lord Protector after his death.
    
    I find the idea of Monarchy promotes stability. We should not be so quick as to overlook it’s positives. They no longer Rule, and the idea that we should be subject to the new King is outdated and archaic, but we do exist in the largest network of free and independent nations, and for that, I am thankful.

    My argument against becoming a republic is mostly financial.
    
    Our current obligations is to cover the costs of any visit by them and we can expect a visit roughly every 5 years. As far as ahead of state goes, this would probably be less than $2 per person, per year.
    
    if we become a republic, we have the one off costs associated with changing all government letterheads, flags, titles, a constitution, updating all laws and probably a whole host of other things I can’t be bothered researching.
    
    Then there would be the ongoing costs for an entourage, a residence as anything currently existing just wouldn’t do, security, and probably a whole raft of other new holidays that would need to be implemented.
    
    All I see is more tax dollars being wasted to achieve a worse situation than we have right now.

      Not if it is done properly.
      When South Africa became a republic they continued to use the old stationery etc until it got used up. In some areas the old letterheads were still used for many years.
      Of course in the Rep of Aotearoa they would likely just burn it.

  To be fair to King Charles, his undemocratic existence doesn’t include voting rights on the Auckland City Council and its committees, nor any involvement in our health systems, nor any powers over my water supply and disposal. Nor does he impose obscurantism on NZ science research and education, despite some of own his wacky views, nor impose a highly politicised interpretation of our history in NZ education, nor demand I begin meetings with a nod to his god.
  
  I tend towards republicanism but, given the minimal cost of the monarchy to NZ, see value for money in our head of state arrangements.
  
  So, Shaneel, we’ve seen your notions of democracy recently on TV; what better deal are you offering?

      Any opinion piece with the comments turned off just tells me that the opinion piece writer doesn’t stand behind the convictions of their argument.
      
      Can’t be bothered with anything that Lal writes as I suspect it will be below the level of what a ten year old could write, but Mau never has comments on and her pieces are usually full of arguments that can be ripped apart with basic logic and actual stats.

  This is a person who can’t use Google. The royal.uk website starts its page on greeting royals with “There are no obligatory codes of behaviour when meeting The Queen or a member of the Royal Family, but many people wish to observe the traditional forms.”
  
  Obviously, they haven’t updated for the change of monarch yet, but can you imagine Shaneel ever accepting that there is no obligatory code of behaviour when meeting him? I’m guessing the meaning of the King’s first words at the Abbey, “I come not to be served, but to serve” were completely lost on him. But come to think of it, this is someone who believes anyone he might disagree with must be shouted down and drowned out, so there is no chance of Shaneel hearing anything.
  
  As for the suggestion that the Royal Family believe in a white Christian God, that is incredibly offensive, I would suggest, to all follower of the Abrahamic faiths – Jews, Christians and Muslims.

  That ceremony was so full of our constitutional history.
  From the spoon that was the only item to survive the extremist Cromwell , to the King’s oaths to preserve protestantism ( going back to the Restoration of C R II and parliament’s distrust of absolutist Catholic( and High Church Anglican) monarchs) .
  It’s not actually all about royalty , it’s about royalty as servants of God and of the people .
  That’s where the Crown has it’s true legitimacy and meaning.

  I see on the Maori King’s Wikipedia page the pains someone has taken to stress that he is ‘an elected King’.
  
  Somewhat cute I would have throughly given that since the coronation of the first Maori King, each monarch has been succeeded by a child with one exception and that was where the crown went from one king to his brother.
  
  So when they say ‘elected’ I guess they mean like how the Kim dynasty in North Korea is ‘elected’.

  I don’t believe in the polls and never have – they are invariably wrong, often by orders of magnitude. This is not necessarily the fault of the pollsters, or the methodology, but a reflection of human nature.
  
  There’s only one poll that counts, and it closes on October 14. Side note – I’d be 10 times happier if there was but one polling day, the date announced. There should be provision for early voting only if you can prove that you’re not able to attend a polling booth on Election Day.

    Let’s say she was giving a Nazi salute, and even started goose-stepping around the place – I fail to see how this would in any way affect anything she has to say. Of course, we know why the association is used, but its a complete logical fallacy.
    
    Nazis designed the first jet aircraft – does that mean the principles of jet propulsion are erroneous, and that we all shouldn’t fly in jets? If Nazis liked a nice steak and cheese pie, does that diminish steak and cheese pies in any way? I wouldn’t have thought so. And similarly, if Nazis were opposed to transsexuals, then I guess the Nazis were completely right about that too.

    Princess Anne, 72, is a hard working woman.
    In 2022 she attended 214 official engagements.
    That means she gets up, dresses up, travels up and contributes to various functions and ceremonies to which she is invited on a regular basis.
    I very much doubt that Princess Anne actively seeks these invitations just to shore up the reputation of the royal family.
    Why do universities, military bases, schools, fashion houses, not for profit orgs, businesses, animal charities, councils etc bother to ask for a member of the Monarch’s family to turn up at their events?
    Because it adds value and respect.
    We live in an isolated back water full of the self-important.
    Many people here aged 72 are living in rest homes being looked after – not willing, able or expected to work.
    People can mock and criticise the British Monarchy, no problem, but at least be informed about what they actually do.
    The King is nearly 75. He is committed, by birth, to serve his country, whether he feels like it or not.
    What will the likes of the conceited Mr Lal be contributing to society when he is 75?
    Probably only writing his boring columns in a second rate newspaper.
    As for the Maori King, how many attendances at NZ fund raisers and other NFP public ceremonies (not just for a chosen few) does he commit to during the year?

outside a few small factions, this did not increase the desire for “leadership by expert” it likely undermined it for a generation. they woke up silent center and they lost them.

team clown may not get it yet, but the vast mobile middle of western societies does and enough have had enough that they now distrust these erstwhile imperials on every vector.

that’s the price you pay for believing your own fairy stories. everyone saw them fail. and they, who thought they were getting ready for the glorious drive into the capitol for their truimph instead bear the blame for having turned lives and economies into a catastrophically careening clown car.

The next few years will be telling. None of what is happening is conspiracy. The covid circus, climate circus and now the gender circus are all deliberately implemented programmes to continue the erosion of true democracy. That’s the reason many of us have been struggling to work out what the he’ll is going on. The confusion is deliberate. Confused people are easy to control.
When you spot bullshit call it out instantly. Chaneel Lal, Michael Baker, Greta, every single Green MP. Ridicule them, don’t argue with them. Doing that gives them meerut which they don’t deserve.
Laugh at them. Then ignore them. It’s all they deserve especially after the last three years. They certainly don’t deserve respect.

    We’re in trouble, but the good news in enough now seem to know it, especially when you look at the collapse in uptake of boosters everywhere.

  I have moved to the idea this was planned, how that means it will give the weak government more support. How I don’t know, MP will take vote from Labour and the greens, no votes will come from the right, I think Labour will lose some vote to Nats snd ACT , and Nats will take a small amount of votes from MP in the the Māori seats simply because they will stand candidates.

    Let me explain……
    
    The Maori Party MUST gain an electorate seat to remain in Parliament.
    
    They didn’t win one in 2017 and were out of Parliament.
    
    In 2020 Rawiri Waititi defeated Tamati Coffey in Waiariki by a small margin of votes (836)… So this is not a safe seat and could turn to Labour again.
    
    Debbie Ngarewa-Packer came in as a list MP…as The Maori Party scored above 1% for Total votes… but she wouldn’t have been in Parliament if the Maori Party hadn’t won the Waiariki seat.
    
    Meka Whaitiri won her seat of Ikirao-Rawhiti easily..
    (by 4210 votes). She stands a very good chance of retaining the seat, even though she won’t be a Labour candidate. She will thus ensure that the Maori Party retains its presence in Parliament…and its alliance with Labour.

Why on earth was Hipkins wearing a Maori feather cloak? He is not Maori as far as I know. Looks more Scottish with that ginger crop. It is cultural appropriation and a wonder the Maori don’t make a song and dance about it. I noticed that delegations from other Pacific countries did not dress up in tribal outfits even when they could legitimately. I am increasingly embarrassed about New Zealand.

Just a final follow up on my previous posts this morning. I don’t apologise for seeming single issue. The events of the last few years, and the current insanity pervading all aspects of our lives, truly is the biggest threat to democracy we have seen in almost a century. We all need to be paying attention. In my opinion the whole co-governance thing is just another spoke in the wheel that is driving this.

Sure, focus on it, but remember it’s part of a bigger plan.

This was an excellent article. The author asks an excellent question.

Is there a readily available and simple diagnostic test to confirm ones credentials as a critical thinker? Something you can shove up your nose, send to a lab somewhere and wait for your phone to ping.

Perhaps not, but in Westminster Hall on April 17th, approximately 1 hour 40 minutes into the WHO Pandemic Prevention and Preparedness Parliamentary debate, we were gifted with the perfect assessment tool.

To take the test, read this short passage, courtesy of the member for Birmingham, Edgbaston (Labour/Co-operative Party), Preet Kaur Gill:

Read these astonishing comments from a sitting MP in the UK Parliament.

Climate change and globalisation mean that natural biological threats are becoming more common… The lesson of the pandemic was that no one is safe until everyone is safe, and that global health is local health, so global co-operation on pandemic preparedness and biological threats clearly needs to be strengthened. That is why the Opposition absolutely supports the principle of a legally binding WHO treaty.

The author says:

If, as you read these words, you feel your blood pressure rising and the vessels in your neck pulsating with rage, then congratulations, your reaction is appropriate.

It certainly triggered me. Read the whole article, great analysis and observations.

A final quote from it.

Put on your double-thinking cap, because now you must accept that “global health is local health” and “climate change and globalisation mean that natural biological threats are becoming more common”. These statements are at odds with the facts.

First UNICEF, followed by GAVI, the WHO, the UN, the Council of Europe, the BMJ, the Guardian, the Financial Times, Save the Children and now the Labour Party have all told you: “No one is safe until everyone is safe.” This slogan is designed to garner ideals of equity and togetherness and induce a warm, fuzzy feeling whilst in actual fact it is cold and calculating. The ultimate purpose of this slogan is to diminish the range of your thought and to perpetuate the state of emergency. Its teaching is a top-down imposition with no grounding in reality, amplified with mantra-like repetition by many (seemingly) independent voices until it is no longer questioned by the masses. This is an insidious form of indoctrination.

The techniques employed by these sloganeers are not new and echo those of totalitarian regimes. Unless we are able to comprehend the power of this manipulation then we cannot safeguard ourselves from the danger that it poses.

We have seen this in practice over the last 3 years. It has been universal. It truly is insidious and it truly is indoctrination.

  If you run a business you hire the best people qualified to do the jobs than need doing.
  
  If you’re required to hire people based on their professed gender, color of their skin, religious preferences, etc. then you might be able to compete with other businesses saddled with the same restrictions but you won’t be able to compete as an exporter.

For what other crimes do the government or the police promise that they won’t knock at your door before you’re up and had your breakfast?

So drug dealers or burglars or street thugs know they’ll be exempt from arrest before certain times of the day?

Overstaying is an offence. For the last few days there’s been story after story making out that overstayers are some sort of victims.

“Please, sir, just give me my piece of paper and I’ll work hard for the rest of my life…”

Translation: “Give me a pass and thereby reward me for my breaking the law and overstaying my visa, often for years, and in doing so provide a huge incentive for more overstayers abusing their privileges and breaking our laws.”

As for this amnesty crap – fuck off.

You can tell exactly what is being cooked up here and it’s Labour doing favours for the Pacific community with an election looming, or at least Labour MPs loudly promising that they will be looking into it. Hint hint. (Vote for us and we’ll look into it even harder.)

Why is it that not once have I ever seen or heard Sua William Sio or any other so-called Pacific community leaders strongly calling for Pacific people to follow the damn law and to honour their pledges to depart the country before their visas expire?

And to not overstay! There are legal channels for immigration, they can bloody well use them, like everyone else.

I tell you what’s shameful, and it’s not holding overstayers accountable for lying to and deceiving us and not keeping their promises – it’s Pacific overstayers, and their enablers, who are lying and cheating their way into the country and then crying ‘victim’ when they are held to account.

A 16-year-old student got knocked out by another teenager at an Auckland school on Friday afternoon.

The incident happened at Mount Roskill Grammar School, and was filmed by a student that gathered around the fight.

In the video, a group of teenagers could be seen in what appeared to be one of the school’s corridors.

  (1) keeping them safe from assaults
  (2) Providing them with first-aid/ emergency assistance if needed.
  
  There’s something peculiar with how the media are handling this story… When RNZ first reported the assault, they gave the name of the brother of the assault victim….. a very memorable Moslem name.

Surely it is time we had a register of ‘real Maoris’, rather than this self-naming trusting system we have now, to distribute Government largesse.
DNA testing and a country-wide register that states whether a person is Maori or not.

  Without some objective metric (i.e. the presence/level of Maori DNA), it’s pretty hard to have race-based distinction, because this would presuppose a way to distinguish one race from the other. On the one hand, the claim is “race isn’t real” yet on the other hand, they want to discriminate on the basis of race. Of course, when they say that “race isn’t real” what they really mean is “White people, don’t have a collective identity.” In contrast, nobody is telling an African American that their racial identity is just a construct of the mind.

  In related news, anyone can self-identify gender in NZ, and have this changed on their birth certificate by just signing a piece of paper (and the payment of a small fee of course).     I am genuinely interested in the thinking behind this Ehlana.
    
    This fantastical reparation talk, as you say, $millions and millions per qualifying individual, is spreading around the States and at pace.
    
    I’ve seen some of the proponents interviewed and they plainly admit they’ve given not a single moment of thought as to either how it will be paid, or the effects on the economy, the social effects etc should it be paid. There has been no thought to practical implementation and resultant consequences.
    
    But still they claim “it’s the right thing to do.”
    
    I can understand some few extremists, nutters or race-grifters calling for this (anything to get attention) but to see actual elected representatives throwing their hat in too is just unbelievable.
    
    This is just nuts. It’s insane. They’ve lost all grasp with reality.
    
    Good grief, the quality of leadership in the States on show recently is just appalling.
    
    They’ve lost their minds. It’s like they actually WANT massive social division, WANT economic ruin, WANT a civil war.
