The rebels had been introducing sharia law throughout the teritories they had conquered.

The Eithiopians had aid from the states in terms of sat imagery and possibly cash to pay for the petrol they’ve used. Also the Ugandans were said to be involved perhaps by helping train the Eithiopians.

The reason the islamists caved apparently was because their militia comprising mainly teenage boys got slaughtered by the thousands in fighting the Ethiopian Army professionals.

But the Islamic Courts cleared up piracy, reopened ports and airports, restarted the education and health systems, ended much corruption, and are generally supported in their areas. The TFG has little support, and virtually no loyalty (even from its own members), and the country will fall back under the control of the warlords once Ethiopia pulls out.
The ICU are the best thing that happened to Somalia in 20 years.

You refer to a a motley collection of warlords and no bodys setup by international agencies.
The invasion is really a US takeover, since the US has decided its better that proxies do its invading these days.
