Hi all, I’m the fellow who lodged the complaint/ responses to Labour’s appeal.
I love a Friday when dirty politics are shown for what they are – scummy, misleading and a bad look for New Zealand.
Go anyone but Labour tomorrow!!!!

Straws in the wind? Imagine the psychic shock that some of the Labour apparatchiks will get when they realise that people who were kissing their asses last year, this year will be telling them to get f**d.

Dave Strings, you have no idea what your talking about.

But yet again, they suffer no consequences.
Actually they do. They suffer every time it’s played.
For this reason, I think National should protest the ASA decision. ‘Two Johns’ is a brilliant ad – for National. Every time it plays my wife goes “Yuck” and loathes Helen a little more.
The trick to doing that kind of attack ad is to put some sugar on the pill with humour.
Oh, and to get your facts right.

The appeal board strengthened the previous decision by pointing out that the line “cut Kiwisaver in half” was misleadingly presented as if it was a direct quote from Key.

Agreed John Ansell. It will be an interesting post election discussion on the effectiveness of the Labour attack ads. My view is that it appeals to the hardcore left who genuinely believe that Tories will bbq the children of poor people but beyond that demographic they are turning people off. That particularly nasty ad with the solo mother actor saying ‘you might know a bit about money trading Mr Key but when it comes to my family I just can’t trust you’ I sense is turning voters off.
Hell, most New Zealanders would still blance at calling Winston a liar in such a public forum (even although he blatantly is) b/c by and large they are polite people. That’s not how we do politics here. Attacking Key from a position of weakness on trust just seems rude – and desperate.

I hope it’s a quick kill, and not a 6 week slow aspyxiation by the maoris like Peters did to Labour back in the mid 90′s
