Another example of how the NZ government just do not understand the internet (in the herald today).

They are proclaiming that unemployement is at an all time low, and that there are jobs aplenty. All you need to get a job is step off the plane and the employers will grab you.

    This is the website…
    http://www.newzealandnow.govt.nz/jobs-and-events~6.html

Foreigners ‘trust’ government websites. They will be reading and believing this misleading information.

Some govt. dept probably had a bright idea , made this website, then moved onto the next bright idea.

Typical of govt workers. Stupid people.

    Extremely sad.

    Thoughts to Zac and Deb.

  7. Murray (8,734) Says:

They deserved watching and still bloody do petal. the emotive language of the so called journalist did nothing to improve the perception of media bias either.

The only real issue is why the hell are people outside the law when they become politicians?

    You get spanked this morning?

  10. petal (683) Says:

“The only real issue is why the hell are people outside the law when they become politicians?”

It is at least interesting to note that some “subversives” have become politicians. This suggests, theoretically at least, that either all politicians should be watched ;) or more seriously, that those who decide who needs watching cast a wide net. Not sure I like the idea, in principle, that a Government shows official concern about people that are following their own path to Parliament.

  11. philu (10,919) Says:

    gee…!..about that ‘media bias’..

how about the ‘economic triumphalist’ bullshit they are currently bathing in..?

It seems that Neville Key gets pinker by the day, now he is looking at taking Comrade Bradford’s bill out of the Ballot box and making it government business.

Given that, I think I owe those at the Labour party & EPMU staffed and funded Standard an apology, they were right all along, Key is slippery, Key is a liar and Key is not a man that can be trusted.

Only if you have previously agreed on a safeword before having rough sex with them.

  17. MyNameIsJack (2,415) Says:

1000 jobs a week lost and all John Key can do is sit on his hands.

9 day fortnight? yep, that sure helped.

Cycleway to nowhere? $50 million “allocated”, $0 spent.

Closing the wage gap with Aushtraya? He can’t even close the wage gap in Auckland.

free trade deal with USA? Yep, crucify our financial sector.

It is time this waste of space and money was thrown out on his ear and a new, communist government took over.

  18. big bruv (9,837) Says:

    Phool

That is not the point, I detest you implying that you are part of society, you have NO place commenting on “banker bastards” when their actions are not a lot different to yours.

They are parasites, you are a parasite, they steal from innocent people, you steal from innocent people, they make a living from the hard work of others, you make a living from the hard work of others.

Perhaps it is you who should focus on the message Phool, get out and start contributing to our economy, then and only then can you have your say, until then shut the fuck up.

  19. Murray (8,734) Says:

When we want to hear from a Jew hating homophobe we’ll call you jackboot, till then labout fucked it, National is fixing it.
    Piss off.

  20. big bruv (9,837) Says:

I also note that the racists have started their annual “make matariki a holiday” bullshit.

  21. Murray (8,734) Says:

    Petal, watch them ALL.

  22. MyNameIsJack (2,415) Says:

big bruv, join the communist revolution. All bankers are bastards. Workers arise, you have nothing to lose but your chains.

  23. bananapants (107) Says:

Come on, surely someone has the intellectual nouse to actually have a real debate on this thing. Any takers? I’ll repeat the question for those who can’t read backwards.

Is it appropriate to smack intellectually disabled adults in order to correct their behaviour? Why / why not?

(Also, giving a ‘thumbs down’ to a question is kind of stupid. It’s a question, you noodle. Not a statement.)

  24. big bruv (9,837) Says:

    Murray

What the fuck is National “fixing” mate?

  25. Murray (8,734) Says:

They’re not fucking it as badly as Hullen and Doc Sullen planned to.

Higher taxes and increased government spending were the answer BB?

Which isn’t to say that Key couldn’t benefit from a smack upside the head every other day.

  26. MyNameIsJack (2,415) Says:

so much anger, there murray, I think you should get help.

Jew hating? how could anyone hate the “people who killed Jesus”? Just a shame they didn’t get mohammed too. Homophobe? No, I have many, many male friends. Even women frinds, too, so no, I am not afraid oh homo sapiens.

And National isn’t doing much of a job fixing anything, why they even have MPs who couldn’t get a fuck in a brothel so had to go looking at the opposition party for a root.

Or, by “fixing” do you mean Richard “the fix is in” Worth’s visits to india spruiking his private interests on the taxpayer $?

  27. bananapants (107) Says:

So, Murray thinks intellectually disabled people should be smacked…?

    Who else?

  28. ovation (191) Says:

Murray does seem like an angry chap. If it wasn’t for his expletive-ridden rebuttals to some (frankly, pathetic) posts here, we’d never hear from him.

  29. MT_Tinman (1,666) Says:

Big Bruv, history shows us that National has always been just left of the communists while in government – with the exception of the early ’90s when the great Sir Roger’s legacy and popularity forced them to promote Ruth’s policies.

What made you think they would change under Key?

I do think they are a step above the last lot though, sort of biggish govt. instead of big govt.

  30. starboard (2,447) Says:

Is it appropriate to smack intellectually disabled adults in order to correct their behaviour? Why / why not?

    Why ask such a question….eh…eh…

  31. Christopher (421) Says:

I find it immensely ironic that the avowed Statists Bradford, Locke and Delahunty are complaining about – wait for it – the State interfering in their private lives.

In the words of my generation: LOL

  32. big bruv (9,837) Says:

    MT_Tinman

“I do think they are a step above the last lot though”

I know you are right but I sure as hell struggle to see it most days.

I had hoped that Key would treat us as adults, sadly I was wrong about that.

  33. philu (10,919) Says:

bruv..is your obvious hatred of sole -parents raising a child on a dpb..

..is that related to traumas from your own childhood..?

..and you obviously totally sneer at childraising as ‘work’..

  34. Murray (8,734) Says:

Thanks for your contribution ovation. Such as it wasn’t.

Odly enough antisemitic bigots who the Nazis had the right idea piss me off. The only question I have it why it doesn’t make you angry.

  35. bananapants (107) Says:

Starboard – because it’s an interesting question.

Intellectually disabled adults may present with challenging behaviours which pose a risk to themselves or others.
    Children may as well.

Intellectually disabled adults are likely to be under the care of a parental type guardian, or otherwise the state.
    Children are as well.

Intellectually disabled adults need a lot of support in their daily living.
    Children need that too.

Intellectually disabled adults are not able to make important decisions about their own welfare.
Children aren’t able to do that either.

If the above premises are true, and the premise ‘parents should be able to smack children’ is true, then I can’t see any reason why caregivers shouldn’t be able to smack intellectually disabled people and individuals with low-functioning autism. But I’d be interested to see if there is a converse to that argument.

  36. big bruv (9,837) Says:

    Phool

My “hatred” is reserved for the likes of you and those who continue to bludge off the rest of us long after the temporary crisis alleviated by the DPB has passed.

Simply put Phool, you are vermin, there is no earthly reason why you have not been in work for the past ten years or so, YOUR lifestyle is one of choice, now I would never deny you that choice but I am fucked if I should be made to pay for it.

    Now, given that I have answered your questions would you be so good as to answer mine;

    1. Why do you think you have the right to steal from the rest of us every week?
    2. What has stopped you getting a job in the last five years?

  37. Sam Buchanan (272) Says:

“I also note that the racists have started their annual “make matariki a holiday” bullshit”

I’m all for a holiday for Matariki. I’m also happy for Big Bruv to ignore it and go to work as usual. Who are these racists that are advocating it?

  38. Chthoniid (1,709) Says:

With respect to what National has done, it may be pertinent to mention that compared to 12 months ago-

    Household debt levels have fallen
The Current Account deficit has reversed its trend and got smaller
    Interest rates have fallen
    The NZ dollar has depreciated
    - all of these being necessary steps to correct the macro-economic imbalances that grew under Cullen.

Plus an increase in debt servicing costs has been avoided by escaping a credit-downgrade.
Unemployment levels are still below most of our trading partners.

  39. bananapants (107) Says:

chthonlid – a bit of misattribution happening there, dear. Those things were happening anyway, as a result of the worldwide financial crisis. I know Johnny has a boyish grin which can be somewhat comforting at times, but he hasn’t actually DONE anything interesting in the past 6 months. And certainly nothing which would magically result in the outcomes you list above.

  40. philu (10,919) Says:

bruv..i am fucked if i am going to waste my time arguing the dpb with you..

..just one of your grab-bag of hysterical reactionaryism (new word..!)..

    ..meh..!

    phil(whoar.co.nz)

  41. MyNameIsJack (2,415) Says:

Household debt levels have fallen Did the government pay off the debt, or is there less borrowing? Less borrowing because of lowered capacity to repay.

The Current Account deficit has reversed its trend and got smaller Another function of a shrinking economy, we can afford less

Interest rates have fallen Shame about those relying on interest to fund their retirement.

The NZ dollar has depreciated again a function of a shrinking economy.

Plus an increase in debt servicing costs has been avoided by escaping a credit-downgrade.
Yet klower interest rates (see above) see borrowing costs lower. And why should anyone pay attention to S&P? Look at their track record with Citibank, AIG, etc.

  42. Lucia Maria (869) Says:

    Big Bruv

“It seems that Neville Key gets pinker by the day, now he is looking at taking Comrade Bradford’s bill out of the Ballot box and making it government business.”

    Are you kidding?

    Tell me you are kidding.

Because if that’s so, it certainly puts the Green Eggs and Ham comment of Key’s into context.

  43. philu (10,919) Says:

  44. Glutaemus Maximus (2,207) Says:

Quite interesting machinations in the voting of a new Speaker at Westminster.

Labour have tried to drop a poison pill into the role. A person in the Tory party with few friends, and a questionable expense trail.

However he did offer to increase the pay for MP’s up some £40k extra as a carrot to elect him. A jump from £60k.

And interestingly enough, even if he only lasts till the next election, some 10 months away he gets to claim half that copious salary for life.

    He is only 46!

Westminster hasn’t learned a thing. I still think that there needs to be full transparency in NZ

Why should we believe Politicians? They don’t believe each other.

  45. ovation (191) Says:

“Murray: …The only question I have it why it doesn’t make you angry.”

while any persecution of people purely because of their faith, or bloodline makes me angry I really cant find it in myself to jump up and down about a troll who probably doesn’t have an opinion either way about Judaism save the fact any mention gets Israel supporters all hot under the collar on trivial internet forums.

  46. starboard (2,447) Says:

“bruv..i am fucked if i am going to waste my time arguing the dpb with you..”

    oohh touched a nerve..eh?..eh?..

  47. philu (10,919) Says:

  48. big bruv (9,837) Says:

Come on Phool, they are two simple questions, the very least you could do is answer them for me and all the other you steal from.

  49. big bruv (9,837) Says:

    “Are you kidding?

    Tell me you are kidding.”

    Sadly it is true.

  50. Christopher (421) Says:

Come on guys, don’t feed the troll. Philu is a despicable creature who parasitically leaches from the good working people of this country, those hearty few that remain.

You also have to feel sorry for his son. Nobody asks to be born to such a shitbag father, and he’s probably a basically good kid who, sadly, will grow up thinking that it’s not rancidly immoral to steal other people’s money to fund your own lifestyle choices.

  51. Patrick Starr (3,662) Says:

    Philu

Bruvs right – I have had this debate with you before.
as a full time working former solo dad I’m telling you there is absolutely no good reason you cannot raise children through school and work in full paid employment.

    State your reasons again…..?

  52. Manolo (6,104) Says:

    Q. Why do you think you have the right to steal from the rest of us every week?
    A. Because he’s scum, a leech and parasite whose only objective in life is to sponge off other people.

    Q. What has stopped you getting a job in the last five years?
    A. His laziness and complete lack of drive, only matched by his preference for baking dubious goods.

  53. sbk (186) Says:

“..i am a pot-smoking ex-junkie vegan sole-dad.”…, to smoke, must have possession,to have possesion is illegal, therefore,PhilU is long term repeat offender/criminal…..those containers are starting to sound good..eh?

  54. Inventory2 (7,223) Says:

big bruv – I think that Philip Ure summed it all up neatly with one of his more informed comments this morning – it read:

    ..meh..!

That pretty much sums Phil up, don’t you think?

  55. Chicken Little (758) Says:

I quite like the way all the trolls gather on one thread now.

So tiring having to read through their crap on multiple threads.

Speaking of crap, normally I wouldn’t be seen dead promoting that shrine to political insanity – The Stranded, but, this is too good to miss.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you – The Return Of Millsy (starts around 10.20pm)

Priceless cheerleader of the left. Blood in the streets and all that.

  56. bananapants (107) Says:

Who here can formulate a logical argument? Anyone? Or are you all just farting into cyberspace to see what happens?

I walked past a table at a restaurant the other day and overhead the following conversation:

    “…..kiwiblog”
“is that where all those old talkback callers who have worked out how to use a computer go to die?”
    “yup”.

    And then:
“sometimes I look at that website just to see what that guy redbaiter is saying”.
    “I think he’s my grandfather”.

  57. Lucia Maria (869) Says:

    Big Bruv,

Yeah. I looked it up. And wrote a post on it.

John Key is so absolutely certain he is right on this one, that the hole he is digging for himself is getting bigger and bigger. He’s not going to be able to climb out soon.

  58. bananapants (107) Says:

Lucia, is it true you think that having sex with animals is the same as having sex with humans? Because that is quite gross.
    http://nzconservative.blogspot.com/2009/06/polish-satire-on-gay-marriage.html

  59. xxx (35) Says:

    ..i am a pot-smoking ex-junkie vegan sole-dad.

    with obvious leftist views.

    Question:

What exactly could this guy sell to an employer so that he could command any sort of wage? He’s angry, drugged, otherwise focused on his family. So which employer is to carry him? Is there a list we can refer to? Is he not better off where he is, costing less, doing no damage to clients or profits, until such time as he learns something new that changes his perspective? He doesn’t sound to me to be ready for employment.

  60. Ratbiter (1,265) Says:

Ban the marriage of religious homophobes!

  61. llew (1,532) Says:

If the above premises are true, and the premise ‘parents should be able to smack children’ is true, then I can’t see any reason why caregivers shouldn’t be able to smack intellectually disabled people and individuals with low-functioning autism. But I’d be interested to see if there is a converse to that argument.

You have to pretty it up a bit – how about as “part of good caregiving”?

  62. Lucia Maria (869) Says:

    Bananapants,

    Brilliant.

Ask a loaded question and give me heaps of incoming hits.

And the answer is how would I know?

  63. bananapants (107) Says:

Well, you compare the two as if they are the same. Apples and apples, and all that. I just hope that, if you are the sort of person who has sex with humans, that you don’t do that with animals too. Because that’s illegal, like smacking.

  64. philu (10,919) Says:

    see 10.46 am ..

    phil(whoar.co.nz)

  65. Lucia Maria (869) Says:

    Bananapants,

    No, I don’t.

The post is about marriage, a cartoon written by a Polish satirist and the outrage by pro-gay marriage groups over the inference that after gay marriage comes marriage to animals. There’s also a bit in there about pedophile groups wanting to legalise a whole lot of stuff with children.

The comparison of the experience of sex is not mentioned anywhere in the post.

Neither is what I think mentioned in the post, as I copied and pasted the part of the article that explained the cartoon.

If you want to know what I think, well, I think eventually sex with animals will eventually be legalised because in a hedonistic society is not about what is good for the person, it’s about what makes that person feel good.

I also find it interesting that Peter Singer, a person who advocates for bestiality, is a regular contributor to the Dominion Post.

Bruvs right – I have had this debate with you before.
as a full time working former solo dad I’m telling you there is absolutely no good reason you cannot raise children through school and work in full paid employment.

Did the same thing myself, raising my younger child as a single parent while working full time (plus).

Strangely neither of my children now sit in front of a TV set all day while others work for their benefit.

I wonder if there is a connection there?

  67. RightNow (3,915) Says:

bananapants, you’ve managed to transform from someone I gave kudos to for being actively involved in the community to someone who is displaying the characteristics of a troll. Did you get bored with talkback radio per chance?
It amuses me no end how many trolls come here and abuse ‘kiwibloggers’ when they are in fact avid kiwibloggers themselves. Clearly you don’t get satisfaction from other blogs (which doesn’t surprise me, few of them actually allow such diversity of opinions without having the onanists jump on them in hordes) but if I might suggest something, go and give philu some traffic, if he got some he might actually be able to sell some advertising on his site and then he could get off the benefit. Do some (more) social good and get more kudos, your halo has slipped and quite frankly it looks like it’s got poo on it.

  68. Christopher (421) Says:

I think eventually sex with animals will eventually be legalised because in a hedonistic society is not about what is good for the person, it’s about what makes that person feel good.

    1. Who decides what’s good for a person?

    2. Who gives a damn whether it makes them feel good? It’s their right to do whatever they please provided they don’t infringe the rights of others. Cruelty to animals arguments are clearly relevant to this, but moral judgements on whether or not someone should be “permitted” to have sex with animals (or members of their own sex) are not.

Now, FYI I’m straight as an arrow, and I don’t like homosexuality at all. I don’t like its pervasive culture of over-sexualisation of everything, the mannerisms of many gays, the rearing of children by gay couples (though I am open to persuasion in the face of scientific evidence). I just dislike it when anyone thinks that they have the right to tell me what to do.

  69. wreck1080 (2,009) Says:

To the people (peterwn) whom I was discussing about the banks and tax avoidance, what is legal and what is illegal.

    Peterwn said::

Selecting investments, etc for tax minimisation is OK – one is not entering into ’schemes’ to avoid tax

The media are reporting that one way to give away lotto money, is to ‘loan’ your money to someone at 0% interest, then forgive the debt 27k per year, then fully on death.

This appears to be a sham ‘scheme’ designed solely to completely avoid gift tax. And, if it is so easy to get around the ird rules, why do they even have a gift duty rule?

So, why is this ‘scheme’ legal when it is obviously dodgy?

  70. bananapants (107) Says:

RightNow, don’t feel too bad. I have the flu today and have a tendency to look troll-like under those circumstances.

But I don’t think it’s wrong to ask questions. Which no one actually answers. Hence the re-asking. Persistence isn’t a virtue, I realise, more an annoyance. I’ll go blow my nose now and see if things improve.

  71. big bruv (9,837) Says:

“I have the flu today and have a tendency to look troll-like under those circumstances”

You sound like a perfectly healthy Green party MP

  72. racer1 (354) Says:

So another question for you all:

Why do religious types like lucina always insist on using bestiality and pedophilia to compare with homosexuality, when “just like hetrosexuality but with someone of the same sex”, would be a much better description?

  73. bananapants (107) Says:

racer1 – exactly my point. It was good of you put it in slightly less ludicrous terms.
big bruv – don’t worry, I’m not. Those healthy Green MPs are a bit of a worry, because they might live forever. Darn fruit-eating, non-smoking mimsy do-gooders.

  74. Angus (525) Says:

Why do religious types like lucina….

Because some people believe homosexuality is not an innate and immutable human characteristic, but merely a form of behavior. And thus they relate these behaviors as occupying different points on a sliding scale of human sexual libertinism and fluidity, only inhibited by societal mores.

  75. bananapants (107) Says:

Angus, do you know about adopted twin studies? It’s when twins who have been adopted out to separate families at birth are examined for concordance of particular traits.

The biological basis of homosexuality is most strongly supported by the concordance between twins raised in different environments.

A book chapter like this might be a good place for a novice to start, if you’d like to know more about genetics. http://www.springerlink.com/content/p5j435705p54299h/
There’s also lots of scientific journals online which might be able to provide you with some good information in this area.

Why do religious types like lucina….

Because they believe their god hates homosexuality, conveniently ignoring that it is their god’s faulty design that generates homosexuality.

Because their god tells them what to do and they then think that gives them the right to tell the rest of us what to do.

And beacsue the “home school” they ensure their kids grow up with the identical hang ups and fuck ups thay have.

    Why homosexuality?

Things are beginning to look up for those of us on the right of centre, hell, we might even have a party to support if this keeps up.

Um, any ‘Bex’ in particular, I’ve met at least one that would do him the world of good. Perhaps he could also offer her a Becks, there’s a nice beer.

  82. paradigm (507) Says:

Is it appropriate to smack intellectually disabled adults in order to correct their behaviour? Why / why not?

Not sure about correcting their behaviour, depending on the level of disability they may not even have the associative reasoning to grasp that the smack is a response to their misbehaviour. However at the moment there is a related but far more clear cut issue that requires highlighting: caregivers to the autistic or similarly are often too scared to restrain their wards (lest they get an assault charge) that they allow them to do serious harm to themselves.

I recently became aware of one particular case that highlights this: an autistic child in the care of a school for disabled children would often headbutt her face against the floor or nearby objects and gauge her eyes with her hands. The staff, fearing the said assault charge and/or sacking did nothing. The child is now permanently blind in one eye.

Obviously the child should have been restrained to prevent self injury. Indeed a straight jacket would have been a suitable response. Instead we get teachers too political corrected to intervene, with the result that the mentally disabled child is now also physically disabled.

  83. Murray (8,734) Says:

ovation evidently you’re new here. jack is an adovcate of the forced deportation of Jews from Israel “back to Europe where they belong”.

He claims to be anti-Israeli but only mentions Jews in his frequent anti-Semetic outbursts, not Israelis, not Muslims Israelis, not Christian Israelis. Just the Jews. I find nothing less tolerable than outright nazism marqurading as something else.

  84. KiwiGreg (2,272) Says:

@wreck1080 “The media are reporting that one way to give away lotto money, is to ‘loan’ your money to someone at 0% interest, then forgive the debt 27k per year, then fully on death.

This appears to be a sham ’scheme’ designed solely to completely avoid gift tax. And, if it is so easy to get around the ird rules, why do they even have a gift duty rule?

So, why is this ’scheme’ legal when it is obviously dodgy?”

Well just because it’s in the media doesn’t mean it isnt dodgy, I certainly wouldn’t take tax advice from a journo! But in this particular case there is a clear tax distinction between a loan and a gift (and in particular specific provision for foregiveness of debt through operation of a will). The potential risk run is that the “interest free” value of the loan can be a gift (but there are ways around this as well which the courts have sanctioned).

  85. MyNameIsJack (2,415) Says:

And what’s wrong with that, Muzza?

The jews who came out from Europe caused all the strife with their neighbours, so send ém back to whence they came.

I don’t mention other jews, as jews in other countries seem to behave themselves, it is only when they get to Israel that they become a problem. Send the European jews back to europe and let the Palestinians have their land abck, let the middle east have some peace.

  86. big bruv (9,837) Says:

The way Neville Key is handling the whole Christine Rankin thing typifies his soft cock and left leaning style of leadership.

Rankin should be free to disagree with the families commission, she should be free to say what ever she likes however Neville Key is scared that Rankin will annoy his good friend the Greens.

Toward the end of the Klark years she became arrogant, she believed that she knew what was good for us and that the public should just shut up and follow her, it took her the better part of seven years to become that arrogant, John fucking Key has managed the same level of arrogance in eight months.

Trevor was saying something to Key. Something about Key being a liar. Then he was asked by the Speaker to withdraw the comment. From there he simply blew up and said he didn’t call Key a liar. That may have some truth to it but I wasn’t in the TV room when that happened. Then he had a go at the Speaker on his way out. I’m not very good at explaining it but hopefully it gets on Youtube or something.

Meantime, Mallard is making things much worse for himself by defending himself on Red Alert. I have just pasted his post onto Keeping Stock in anticpation of someone in Labour telling Mallard to pull his head in, and pulling the thread. He has, among other things, publicly accused Mr Speaker of bias, saying:

“Speaker Smith required me to withdraw and apologise for saying something I did not say. To do so would have been to admit saying it. Smith did not allow me to say that I had not made the comments and tossed me out in probably the most blatantly biased decision of the year.”

I would suggest that Trev is digging a rather large hole for himself.

I cannot vote national again if they carry on they way they are. And, I know lots who feel the same way.

There is a political vacuum developing, for a party that sits between far right act and dead-center national. I’d suggest, such a party could grab a lot of votes.

John Key has lost much respect. For someone who has probably had very little to do with bringing up children, he has the nerve to tell me how to bring up mine. Reminds me of someone else.

Also, National have done very little to fix the economic crisis. This jobs summit was a joke. So far, all they’ve done is try to prop up construction and building. It’s a tough problem, but, they have access to the best minds right?

Admittedly, labour have pretty much totalled the economy for national and I don’t see that we will be back to where we were for at least 10 years.

  107. getstaffed (7,395) Says:
