Final day to vote
August 20th, 2010 at 11:54 am by David FarrarBusted Blonde is still in the lead, but it could be close.
Go to NBR and vote for her (click on thumbs up sign next to her entry), so BB wins her weight in Veuve Clicquot. This is the final day of voting.
If Busted Blonde wins, I have been told I will be allowed to bring a couple of blog readers along to the party, where the 100+ kgs of champagne will be consumed.
So if you are a fan of Veuve Clicquot, make your case in the comments section, for why you should be my guest at the party, if Busted Blonde wins. Busted and Cactus will help me select the winners.

100 kg???! Surely a misprint!

I have four very good reasons for you to pick me.
Moral blackmail – You have to take me because you failed to give me a hat tip for the threads about Jeanette Fitzsimons supporting wacky 9/11 conspiracy theories late last year.
Self indulgance self interest – My wife is on a zero alcohol regime at the moment, which pretty much means so am I. This will leave more for the rest of you.
Entertainment value – I have an amazing ability to find something to be disagreeable on with virtually anybody. This means you all can have a good laugh at my expense when I am forceably removed from the venue.
Romantic self interest I know several hot chicks that I can set you up with (only kidding, I wouldn’t subject you to any of the single women I know).

Sorry David, I went to the website to vote but found myself captivated by Michael Havill’s poem so voted for him instead. I guess that disqualifies me from consideration.

I’ve voted for her 15 times?

With that much of the stuff on hand, I’m disappointed that Cactus hasn’t decreed you must follow the VRWC rules and bathe in it while scoffing about the plight of the less fortunate.

Fan of Veuve? I think that’s a very mild statement. You love it or you drink one of the less classy French brands. No in betweens. I won’t be in Wellington, otherwise I’d be very keen to be there.

Rex: I’d be interested in a party at which Cactus bathes nude in Veuve. I think that would be a sight to behold.

Well I fit the ‘blog reader’ group, I read your blog everyday, but am too scared (well can’t be bothered arguing with some of the weirdo’s who post here prolifically) to comment much.
I could fit the bill of the ‘poor country cousin’ – someone who’s naivete, and curious hick factor may provide mild entertainment. Tthere would also be a touch of shyness, and awkwardness brought on by my sheer intimidation of talking to anyone who is much more intelligent than me.
As the at home Mum of 3, supported by my ‘classed by labour as rich’ husband (but there is no way in effing hell we could ever afford the luxury of Veuve) and living semi-rurally in the BOP, I would be completely out of my element hobnobbing it with a bunch of Wellington politics junkies.
However, like the NBR, I am too turning 40 this year – and would love an opportunity to abandon my children, and pretend I’m somebody for a few days. I might even get to feel like I’m a human being again – is it possible for you to do that????!!!!
PS. I will wear sunglasses on the top of my head if it means I’m in with more of a winning chance.

BOP is pout. You all vote national. Disqualified.

What happened to this sun glass wearing chicks big weight loss drive?

Well David, i would love to be considered for a spot as one of your guests.
My biggest claim to the prize is one that I’m sure other readers can replicate, however i have sent you private correspondence with information regarding a yet to be broken story. It wasn’t Heather Roy big, but it was better than nothing i guess.
Oh and the obligatory reading you blog daily, coupled with the fact i only comment when i have something constructive to say (Or want to get sozzled on the NBR’s dime ((take that subscription policy))), should help sway the decision.
Plus i think that a handsome, educated, and delightfully personable 25yr old, would be just the thing to keep the likes of Busted Blonde and Cactus Kate entertained.

I am happy to bring along the dead baby hors d’oeuvres in order to make it a true congregation of the right.
Always been a fan of the Perrier Jouet belle epoque (nice painted bottle) but Veuve does the same trick.

You’d best check first if you’re allowed to bring a guest

Oooo pick me DPF, pick me.
As one of your longest serving commenters (and probably one of nickle’s weirdos!) I’ve worked up a powerful thirst.
I also have a small number of stories of your high school pranks which, after a glass or two will turn into a large number of hilarious teenage gaffs (remind me how long Mr Copperwheat was locked in the music basement cupboard again?).

Interestingly the person currently in second place has stated the following on Whaleoil’s blog
“…if you read (I assume you can) the terms and conditions of the contest it makes no reference to the votes in any way, it actually says the judges will decide the winner. so really it could be any entry.”
So all this effort might come to naught if the judges take issue with anything they damn well want to.

DPF, you’re such a tease. BUt I’ll put my hand up only because I’m desperate for a good blonde, and a drink would go down well…
Vote:August 20th, 2010 at 5:03 pm
Well it is now closed and Busted Blonde has the most votes. If she isn’t declared the winner will there be an online protest organised? Perhaps we can invade the NBR site.

I’m devastated on 2 counts….
ONE: I am in Auckland and I am picking this shout to be in Wellington, and
TWO: I always had this shallow thought that BB was around 50kg NOT 100kg!!!
I guess this might be one of those times where a “tad” extra weight is a good thing.
And I’m guessing that should bring a good shout….. 20 bottles maybe?
Vote:No need to worry about Whale drinking to much but DPF and CK will get through half so hopefully only about another 4 are invited.

Huh! I just want to find out who she is. Won’t let on though.
Vote:August 20th, 2010 at 10:23 pm
You should pick me because, even though I play prop, I’m not afraid to publicly admit that I enjoying a glass or three of champagne

Expose of how repsonsibly Keep it 18 members can drink?

No news yet. Perhaps NBR are in negotiations with their underwriters about the likely cost of BB’s win.

1) I can shamelessly state that Kiwiblog and Cactus Kate and Roarprawn are the only non technology blogs I read and point others to.
Vote:2) I have just very rapidly moved away from Wellington to the big smoke of Auckland and would love an excuse to fly back down for a chance to say goodbye to it properly.
3) I have just started working for a large Chinese corporation and would love the opportunity to listen to Cactus’s views on New Zealand Chinese relations and how I can avoid losing my dream job to a ridiculous cultural faux pas.
4) Because I am not a moocher I will help cover the cost of the food and contribute if it winds up a charity gig.
