Good to see everyone has woken up on the right side this morning..Siddiq-Conlon has also woken up on the right side. As a big time sharia law advocate in Aussie , he has been charged with child pornography offences and using websites to make death threats against the recent gay and lesbian Mardi Gras..Good job..There is bound to be a backlash which just might wake up a few people.

Quoting from the Herald:

‘Labour’s priority would still be to take care of the needy.

“They deserve a share of the pie. And if people fall on hard times, we will help. But equally importantly, number two: everyone who can help to make that pie needs to be involved, and fairly rewarded for doing it.”‘

And also in the article, Shearer talks about the need to upskill people, and wants to make sure that “everyone gets a real chance to earn their share.”

Nice sensible statements, IMHO. Of course the devil will always be in the detail. But I can’t help wondering how the screaming harpies at some of the nastier left-wing blog sites (*cough* The Standard *cough*) will react. Will they praise Shearer and explain that he has the balance correct? Or will they cry “Betrayal!!! Judas!!!” at the revelation from their dear leader that (a) people who CAN work, should; and (b) the “evil-capitalist-type” statements that people with greater skills, should earn more money …

@ Murray The whole country is turning to hell. We’ll all be roasting soon.

Question: Why is it that the job that I do in an office at work using a computer and a phone for 40 hours a week can’t be done from home? Why the are employers so scared to trust their staff to work from home when the job suits?

Wouldn’t office rent overheads decrease? Wouldn’t traffic congestion decrease? Wouldn’t employees be held just as accountable as they will still be marked on results?

What do you think is holding back the whole tele-commuting thing?

Interesting link. No surprises,yet another attack on western culture that is rooted firmly in the Judeo Christian tradition.

The work is described as a cornerstone of world literature,a masterpiece that helped build the image of humanity etc.

It is an allegoric journey of the soul to God, a deeply Christian work.

Judging by some of this mornings’ comments I think quite a few of the “right wing” KB commenters would be in agreement with this Italian human rights NGO.

@ Alpha Kiwi 09 01, Lots of smart operators are employing the work from home systems allied to contracting out with massive advantages for the business and the employee.
Sounds like your job is with a slow learner, It was a growing activity in the Wairarapa 20 years ago when Aucklanders found they could enjoy a semi rural lifestyle and put a big chunk of the savings in living costs into their super scheme while doing what they needed to do for their work over the phone.

OPINION: The Aids Foundation supports the right of HIV-positive patients to conceal their condition from their sexual partners provided they use proper protection. It could not be more wrong.

Everybody who enters into a sexual relationship has a fundamental right to be fully informed about any risk they might be exposing themselves to.

Police shooting in Christchurch

Christchurch police say they’ve shot a man this morning.

They were called to a stabbing on the corner of Hoon Hay and Halswell Roads just after 8.

Police spokesman Stephen Hill says a man had serious stab wounds and has been taken to hospital.

He says in the course of the call out police shot a male in the shoulder but his injuries are not life threatening.

A media conference will be held later this morning.

Oh Dear, this makes three! for Christchurch. Guns are apparently easy to obtain.

The Urewera trial is at its summing up stage. The two defendants Ans..? and his girlfriend are being painted as being peaceful blah, blah. But if you read the vitriol from those such as the Rayna Fahey (was advisor to Nandor Tancos) etc, etc with a point of view which doesn’t have a language other than “racial masochist” or “anti western” these innocent peacefulls look a bit different. What is really on trial (or should be) is the “peace movement” (or elements of it: including Keith Locke and associates). What we are seeing in the videos is what’s really in the mind of the Lockes, Minto’s etc.

The support for the Auckland dock workers has just grown internationally by 400,000 dockers. I wonder what Gibson’s strategy was on the likelihood of this type of development. It’s a prospect that all shipping to and from NZ could be stopped as this dispute deepens. POAL are running a radio campaign talking about ‘your wharf’ and their plans for it – problem is it ain’t working, neither their campaign nor the wharf.

Unfortunately I think you muddy the waters by making an irrelevant remark about homosexual rights in your Stuff comment. Most homosexuals don’t have HIV/AIDs and wouldn’t want to. Presumably they would want to be informed like the rest of us.

A political movement should be on trial? Really? That sounds an awful lot like the environmentalists who want to put people on trial for disagreeing with the climate change consensus.

I don’t think it should be removed from classrooms but lets have a little perspective. People constantly want television and other media censored during certain hours for swearing, violence or other such material considered “unsuitable” for children. But when the censorship targets YOUR culture suddenly such concerns represent political correctness.

Myself I don’t see this as an issue of political correctness. It’s rather a part of this social attitude that sees children as needing to be wrapped up in cotton wool to protect their precious minds from anything that is not sunshine and rainbows.

If anything I suspect the Divine Comedy would bore them to tears rather than inciting them to be superstitious bigots.

The people who disagree with the climate change consensus don’t call themselves some sort of environmental movement. I’m just saying that some elements of the Peace Movement favour a result more than any disdain for political violence.

Suddenly the train went through a tunnel and as it was an old style train, there were no lights in the carriages and it went completely dark. Then there was a kissing noise and the sound of a really loud slap. When the train came out of the tunnel, Claudia Schiffer and the Englishman were sitting as if nothing had happened and the Frenchman had his hand against his face as if he had been slapped there. The Frenchman was thinking: ‘The English fella must have kissed Claudia Schiffer and she missed him and slapped me instead.’ Claudia Schiffer was thinking: ‘The French fella must have tried to kiss me and actually kissed the Englishman and got slapped for it.’ And the Englishman was thinking: ‘This is great. One day, all the human body parts started arguing about who was on top… The mouth said, ”I should be on top because, without me, you wouldn’t be able to eat.” Then the stomach said, ”Ya but if it weren’t for me, you wouldn’t be able to digest and transfer all the minerals and vitamins throughout the body, I should be on top.” Then the heart said, ”I should be on top because I’m the one who takes the blood from point A to point B. Without me, the body would die.” Then the brain said, ” Well, without me, you wouldn’t be able to move, eat, digest or allow circulation of blood, so I should be on top.” Now, the asshole was beginning to get annoyed, ”You know, I should be on top because I can just shut my hole and then shit will accumulate and block the digestive track and screw all of you up.” It was chaos, everyone was yelling and fighting. Finally, the asshole got fed up, ”That’s it, I’m fed up, I’m shutting up my hole.”

So for a few days, the body couldn’t shit and the brain had trouble moving, the stomach digesting, the mouth eating and the blood flow going, everyone was begging the asshole to open up, The brain said, ”Please open up, you made your point, your on top, just open up.” The asshole smiled, ”So everyone agrees that I’m on top?” ”YES” everyone shouted. ”OK!” so the asshole opened up and the body could shit again. The moral of this story is, you have to be an asshole to be on top…

So, up she went again. When she got up there, Luigi took off his socks, and on his left foot he was missing three toes. When Sophia saw this, she ran downstairs.
“Mama, Mama, Luigi’s got a foot and a half!”
“Stay here and stir the pasta”, says the mother. “This is a job for Mama!”

They each jump in a sack. In comes the copper and see’s these three bundles on the floor. Goes up to the first one and kicks it. The English man shout out, “Woof Woof”, and the copper thinking it’s just an old dog leaves it and kicks the second sack. The Scotsman yells out, “Me-ow me-ow”, he leaves this one as well thinking its just an old cat. He walks over to the last sack and kicks it, and the Irish man yells out.. “Potatoes Potatoes..!”

Paddy decided to rob a bank. He got all the gear together – stocking mask, sawn-off shotgun, getaway car and so on – but he realised his accent would mark him out as Irish, so he took elocution lessons for almost a year until he could finally pass as an Englishman.

On the day of the robbery, he donned his mask, rushed into the bank and said, “I say there, I’m terribly sorry but this is a robbery. Be a good chap and fill this sack with lots of lovely lolly.”

The teller said, “you’re Irish aren’t you?”

Paddy was astonished. “How the divil did ye figure dat out?” he asked.

The Englishman says, ”There’s a pub in the West Midlands where the landlord buys you a drink for every that you buy.” The Scot is not impressed and says, ”That’s nothing! In the Highlands every time you buy a drink the landlord buys you five.” At this point the Englishman is fairly impressed. The Irishman, totally unimpressed, says ”That’s nothing. In Dublin there’s this pub where the landlord buys your drinks all night, and then when the bar shuts he takes you into a room and makes love to you.” The Scot and Englishman are well impressed and ask if the Irishman goes there a lot. He replies ”No, but my sister told me about it.”

An 80-year-old man had always wanted to visit a nudest colony, and
finally got up the nerve. He was wandering around the place, admiring
the views, when he saw a woman ahead of him, bent over.
The old man’s equipment responded immediately, and he slipped up
quietly behind her and gave a good screwing.

Extreme Droughts Were More Common 200-300 Years Ago, Study

A paper published today in Environmental Research Letters uses tree-ring proxies to reconstruct drought conditions of the American Southeast from 1665 to 2010. The authors find “The reconstruction shows that the recent droughts are not unprecedented over the last 346 years. Indeed, droughts of extended duration occurred more frequently between 1696 and 1820. Our results indicate that the era in which local and state water supply decisions were developed and the period of instrumental data upon which it is based are amongst the wettest since at least 1665.”

I note they used tree-ring proxies, famous after Kevin Trenbirth hand picked the selected few that were used to launch the Hockey Stick fraud. Hope these climate researchers are more honest. Hard to be less honest.

Where are all the foaming CAGW supporters these days? It’s just not fun any more ….

Unfortunately it is a fact of life that people under real pressure sometimes lash out. I would have thought having to put up with people like David Garrett would have made that clear.

Like a budget client I was working with. He had an old Honda which had seen better days, A garage quoted him $5000 to fix it. So he went over to a car yard and found a good Mazda for $1000. Then went to WINZ for an advance.

There he was told WINZ didn’t advance money for a new car, but would pay him to fix his old one. Even the case officer just sat there shaking her head in wonder.
