Winston at his finest
May 31st, 2012 at 2:27 pm by David FarrarHave a look at Winston in the Budget debate, at his finest. From around 7:50 to 11:30 he works through MPs and comments:
- Calls Paula Bennett a Kate Moss look-a-like
- Refers to Melissa Lee as Pyongyang (capital of North Korea)
- Asks if there is a corner dairy available for Bakshi Singh
- Then asks if there is a Chinese Restaurant left on Dominion Road for Dr Jian Yang
- Calls Katrina Shanks Miss South Carolina
- Calls Tau Henare an Uncle Tom
To think this man was Labour’s Minister of Foreign Affairs. And he is their path back to power.
Imagine if National MP had got up and spoke about Labour MPs in such a way. They would have denounced National as a racist and sexist party.

Love it! We should have more of this sort of behaviour in the house. It would certainly make it more entertaining.

Pauline Hanson and Bob Katter wrapped up in to one package of incoherent racism. And still Labour and the Greens won’t disown them as coalition partners.

Surely a major question is whether the Greens would dare to C&S with him and if so what possible reasoning they could give considering the outrage they have had over minor things in the recent weeks…. I wonder if he addresses Raymond Huo or Dr Prasad the same way on his side of the house and whether he would do so inside that government considering one of them would probably be a part of that Cabinet… A tad concerned the Speaker hasn’t called him out on it but maybe it is covered under parliamentary privilege

Too much mass debating going on there.

“Why don’t you direct your question to NZ First supporters, since that is the party he is leader of?”
The point is that Labour cries out that they are the party of the minorities and oppressed, the guardians of fairness and tolerance, and of fairness and respect for all. The demand that they are lauded for their righteousness in these issues.
But it’s bullshit because they’d through it all away for power.
My point, fish_boy, is that Labour is full of fucking hypocrites.

He can’t be racist because he’s part Maori. Only white people are racist. Come on, pay attention. Paula Bennett IS getting fatter and fatter every month. Sharpen up girl! 3 months on the Atkins diet would do the job.

Regardless of what Winston does or what racists say, there is still the issue of to what degree it is o.k to flog property within the state of New Zealand to the worlds well healed so that we see land beside the beautiful place we grew up advertised in crowded China.
There is still the issue of immigration and its effect on house prices, infrastructure and the quality of life for those who don’t own baches at Omaha Beach.

There is a political hole, because business people want continual population growth and Labour/ left (including the Greens) follow “the proud traditions of progressive movement” which turns up its nose at any notion that the effect of new arrivals on an existing population can be anything but positive.
=====================
“80% of our population growth in the last couple of decades has been the net inflow of non NZ citizens .
“Among policy and analytical circles in New Zealand there is a pretty high degree of enthusiasm for high levels of immigration. Some of that stems from the insights of literature on increasing returns to scale. Whatever the general global story, the actual productivity track record here in the wake of very strong inward migration is poor. In an Australian context, the Productivity Commission – hardly a hot-bed of xenophobia or populism – concluded that any benefits from migration to Australia were captured by migrants and there were few or no discernible economic benefits to Australians. And that was in a country already rich and successful and with materially higher national saving and domestic investment rates than those in NZ.”

Government policies blamed for house prices
Vote:“Immigration and tax breaks for investment in residential property are being cited as the underlying causes of steep increases in the cost of housing over the past decade.
New Zealand now boasts one of the highest rates of home unaffordability in the world as a result of prices rising far faster than incomes, and the government’s Savings Working Group blames that squarely on the policies of successive governments.
Although “the favourable tax treatment of property investment” accounted for about 50% of house price increases between 2001 and 2007, the working group said, there was also strong evidence that rapid swings in immigration brought about price-rise “shocks”.
There was a sharp spike in immigration in 2001, 2002 and 2003 and, said working group committee member Dr Andrew Coleman, it appeared that property prices did not fall anywhere near as greatly when immigration fell again.
The report added that there was little evidence that immigration boosted local incomes. In fact, the need to build roads and schools meant that net migration contributed to the national deficit. ”

re mara 384
I don’t know whether you’re playing to the cutes and the quaints here – but the fact is that any sort of disparagement of another’s race is racism by definition. Remarks only have to show prejudice, discrimination or antagonism towards another’s race or culture – and that can be accomplished by Maori or any “non-white” race speaking or acting against white persons as easily as the reverse.

National need Winston if they want to win a 3rd term. Who wouldn’t want to see Grin John making the famous naked John and Yoko pose like Jim Bolger and Winston did so many years ago? Grin John snuggling up to Winston! That would launch more than a thousand laughs.

Where are the PC wee willy Wankers from Labour and the Greens to bleat their bloviated outrage at these comments? If it was a National MP this would be all over the news and the various spokespeople for every single delineable minority group possible would be saying how this almost made them die with shame and upset.
But it’s Winston, and they need him, so hey, principle out the window. Personally I think it is hilarious, even though Winston is a useless arsehole, but the double standards from the PC brigade is hilarious.

Yesterday the charade was about running very close to getting his sorry arse tossed out of the coliseum today he makes a speech that in fact was no more than a rant.
He is just a demented, tired, old relic living in the nether world that is seen in many aged care facilities. Much of his current output is embarrassing to all, those who worship and those who just wish he would retire. Anything remaining in the way of dignity has long disappeared.

The political content aside, it’s good to hear a tub-thumping traditional public speaker, using the traditional mob-winning tools of the orator: repetition, humour, three-point statements, varying tempo, strong voice, addressing the farthest-away people present, looking the audience in the eye, varying his facial gestures, more repetition, and in each part little delays to build anticipation of who is the target that will emerge on this point.
Far more entertaining than the bland, made-for-TV style of the latest wave of politicians.

I’m not saying Winston can be trusted but the simple fact is, the public have tired of the treacherous Nat/Lab coalition and want change. Third Party representation is a reality the mainstream is aware of hence trying to get rid of MMP.
The public saw thru them. Nat/Lab due date after 60 years or more has expired
