        Not just “a tad harsh”, Biscuit, but the type of comment most of us have experienced over time from a bitter and twisted milky. “Second-rate, imported players”, milky? Do you mean for example:
        
        – Van Dyke: the best centre-back in Europe, and the best buy in the Premier League in the last few seasons (Dutch, but purchased from Southampton)?
        – Alisson: brought in from Europe, an outstanding goal-keeper despite 3 expensive gift-goals to opposition teams this season.
        – Shaqiri: a bargain-basement 13.5m pounds mid-fielder back-up (Swiss, but purchased from Stoke?) who has scored 6 EPL goals so far and is now proving difficult to leave out of the starting line-up.
        
        Like most subjects that he chooses to address, top-level club football (soccer) is something that milky knows very little about. But he still has more than a few ‘weird obsessions’ of his own for the rest of us to chuckle about.

      It’s been probably 6,7,8ish years since I last went to RnV (damn I’m getting old!), but all tickets had to be registered to a named individual (which makes for a headache if plans change/relationships fail and someone wants to on-sell their ticket to include a name change etc) not sure if phone numbers were required or not at the time, but the event was promoting their phone app for festival goers which definitely would be capable of the push notifications, likewise if phone numbers are also included in ticket information

    I may be wrong, but from my understanding, the usual test kits only indicate basic results, i.e if test solution turns blue – amphetamine like substance, yellow – MDMA type substance, orange – opiate type substance etc etc….
    
    Unless they got sent off to a proper lab (that’s open/staffed/not busy at all over a weekend/new years period) I dont see how they know it was pesticide/paints/antibiotics as claimed….?
    
    Also, I know there are a lot of retards out there, but you’d have to be a special kind of stupid to go to the hassle of slapping all those ingredients items together into deadly fake pills just to make a buck over new years…. usually its just some panadols, caffeine, pre-workout supplements and some glucose to fake a little feeling of the pills working, without being life threatening (unless allergic to panadol or sugar etc, in which case you should know not to take random pills already hah)

      You are not wrong. The fast “onsite” tests only identify drug class, and even then b/c they are ELISA based they have a higher error rate.
      
      For proper identification you need a mass spec. And that’s EXPENSIVE equipment, requiring expensive technological expertise etc etc etc
      
      The pesticide/paint/antibiotic thing is likely one of the following two: (1) pesticides, paints, alcohols etc can be used to make drugs illegally (“cooking”) (2) using crude identification systems (e.g. ELISA with cross-reactivity) may mis-identify components of a complex chemical mixture as a different thing … i.e. oh well 2/3 of the molecule “looks like” penicillin (but its the last 1/3 that isn’t an antibiotics and actually gives the molecule its effect).

  Over a few visits he worked his way steadily through them, despite being told he shouldn’t eat too much chocolate.
  He gave this a brief moment’s thought before saying that there are some brown kids at his kindy and would that be because they ate a lot of chocolate?
  
  They do counting in Te Reo, know how to sing the national anthem in Maori and have stories in Te Reo.

    Never touched the stuff apart form the rite of passage ‘behind the bike shed’ along with the sex ed.

    When I look at the people buying them in the supermarket they look half starved and ill. I’m guessing that cigs take priority over food at this level of addiction. I’m all for expensive cigs to deter the young, but I think the hardened smokers who will never stop are now either starving themselves or finding illegal sources.       The annoying thing about all this partisan politics is that in this case both sides of the argument are correct. There is no one answer.
      We need high quality roads such as the new highways but we also need to work on the ones we can’t replace immediately.
      
      So the miserly 1.4 billion being spent on the various safety initiatives is money well spent.
      Had it not been for Twyford trying to scrimp and save and be a big noter so he could have a road train in Auckland the other highways could and should be progressed.
      
      And therein lies the problem with politics having control of vital assets.
      
      We should have Laws preventing politicians from interfering or controlling assets that belong to the taxpayer/ratepayers and their customers.

        Too many of the wrong type of people have licences to drive and too many unlicensed drivers are on the roads too.

    So, Climate is not Weather, so you can’t use these terms interchangeably.
    
    The hostility to all things climate related on this blog is typical of right of centre groups. you all seem quite happy to accept scientific thoughts, theory etc., on other subjects, and yet, not climate.

    In the absolute sense you are correct, the sun is the source of the heat. However, it’s the CO2 that’s trapping it, causing the world to heat up.
    
    The additional CO2 that humans are adding to the atmosphere is the problem.

  Could the Democrats actually be that bloody stupid! Elizabeth Warren is the last person that they should be considering as a candidate. It was that thinking that caused them to fail.
  
  If they are to have any chance in 2020, they need to move back to the center. Warren is a divisive standard bearer for minority issues and identity politics. There is a palpable backlash against this sort of thinking. A groundswell that is gaining momentum.
  
  The Left can’t see it.
  
  This does leave the door open somewhat for a more centrist Republican. I expect the Jockeying for position for the Republican Nominee to start in earnest.

  I was diagnosed with very low iron level, after a quadruple by-pass just over a year ago.
  
  It seems that if a blood loss occurs, during surgery, they only top you up with their filtered version of “trim blood” as the iron laden blood is given to more needy ones.
  Even more surprising was the length of time to be on such supplementary dosage to bring the iron level up.
  
  What was insufferable was going on the iron supplementation tablets, as that really aggravates things when taking the other cement making pills. Very difficult to pass at the end stage of digestion.
  Half dozen+ kiwi fruit per day, plus prunes, figs, and many fruits, supermarket laxatives, etc. just barely made things passable.
  
  Always a good meat eater, and so extra rations, plus liver, kidneys etc. now, and relish the blood too.
  That is to go with keeping the deep-freeze well stocked with “home kill” 🙂

    Yes, but be aware of Haemocromatosis – too much iron in your blood. Always see your doctor and get a blood test if you are feeling unwell and think you may be lacking iron. Could be the above which is dangerous to your health.

      Since my surgery I have been surprised to find out that a number of people have Haemocromatosis.
      
      A bleed off, as being treatment and works well as a “blood donation”. Just surprised when the Doc told me they had given me the “trim milk” version of blood.
      
      So it has been a life of regular blood tests, and pleased that blood Hemoglobin regained normal very quickly, but iron level just ever so slowly just makes the grade to be called “normal” level, and had maintained on a good diet of red meat, veges & fruit.
      
      Still very happy having knocked off the iron supplementation pills, and just feed on red meat in all its forms, kiwifruit, silver beet, etc..
      The beef lamb or hogget all receive Vitamin B12 supplements.
      
      Just a matter of re balancing the meds, getting over some ‘side effects’ in the changes of meds, all under Dr.’s surveillance, though I do question them now and again.
      
      I am so fortunate with the Doctors, surgeons, and Waikato Hospital in helping me to a full recovery.
      Onwards and upwards for the rest of 2019 🙂

I hope everyone on KB signs this petition launched by Nick Smith. The reason that cannabis should not be legal is that the level of impairment cannot be measured as accurately as alcohol. We also have a problem with other drugs that have caused deaths on the road. It is an outrage that JAG opposes testing and wants cannabis to be legal and Labour wants a soft approach on all drugs.

        That I agree with. A leader requires totally different skills to a researcher, organiser or policy wonk. Also, we have witnessed in NZ the emergence of “presidential politics” where the electorate identify with the party through the leader.
        
        Yet charismatic leaders remain thin on the ground. Key had the quality in spades…..so does Ardern & Lange was a prime example. Take Ardern out of the spotlight & Labour are fucked.
        
        Presently, Bridges is doing sterling work in undermining the lying show pony. If he succeeds in bringing Ardern down (& he has opened up multiple fronts) National will cruise to a win in 2020.

Two questions occur to me which are not mentioned in the article. What is the motive? Could this man possibly be a Muslim?

It’s almost comic the lack of serious action in the UK. Imagine if Baptists were doing this? The head of the Baptist church would be arrested. The churches would be shut down and the leaders prosecuted. This would be stopped.

But because its Muslims the reaction is completely different. Move on. Nothing to see here.

      The only problem here is the excluded middle ground and a lack of common sense.
      
      On one hand we have the white hating PC crowd running cover for extremists, and on the other racist nut jobs and religious bigots going the other way.
      
      All that is required is for equal treatment for all and if any real cultural conflict occurs, the guest culture must accept the hosts approach. In reality that is what most people do. Most of the cases of cultural conflict we read about are carefully staged and planned by extremists and do not reflect the prevailing view.
      
      Of course we are not even allowed to talk about such common sense because it’s been labelled hate speech.

      So even if you can’t bring yourself to get past the cultural conditioning, or even a terrible experience, acknowledge at least Christianity’s importance to the west’s survival. Even Richard Dawkins is doing so.
      
      And I would do so also out of simple self-preservation.
      
      The day is already here in Italy where people who disrespect it are reprimanded, sometimes severely. Just like Qatar. But people still visit Qatar. So it’s a good thing 🙂
