    When not ONE legacy media outlet whatsoever (as far as I have been able to ascertain) has reported on the recently released official court documents from witnesses who testified that, among many others, Bill Clinton and Al Gore were frequent guests of Jeffrey Epstein on his aircraft and on his underage-orgy island, you know that the corporate media in no way objective and devoted to disseminating the truth. Rather, they are simply part of the machine that either participates in such events themselves, and/or provides cover for the ultra-powerful crowd who do. I don’t believe a word that they print or broadcast. The media’s job is to construct a false perception of the way the world works in the minds of their viewers and readers.

      It appears from their records that Clinton went on Epsteins plane a number of times.
      But never went to the Island.

        In what substantive sense does “being on [convicted pedophile] Epstein’s plane” differ from “being on [convicted pedophile] Epstein’s island”? You are being obtuse.
        
        “Hand’s off until we land, fellas” doesn’t sound like a rule of thumb that would be observed by the plane’s passengers. Testimony indicates sexual activity on both the plane and on the ground.
        
        Much more likely is, the reason that reports of these events – and the unsealed court documents containing witness testimony – aren’t widely covered, if at all, is because they seriously implicate the people I refer to, rather than that these testimonies are false. Truth is a defence for defamation.

  The protest industry is usually there for the news media to cover it. To maximise media coverage the protest industry have placards written in English in places as diverse as Kiev and Athens.
  All those Kraut signs were in German. It was a genuine protest aimed at the local politicians, as distinct from the international media.

You could count any young and healthy people on one hand, and there aren’t any at all in New Zealand.     Yes, we (NZ) are getting on with it. Despite being told we eliminated/eradicated community transmission. Which clearly, has not happened given two cases from NZ leaving NZ, and turning up as kiwi citizens/residents then arrive in Australia and South Korea.
    
    Yesterday, stretching credibility we had media stories that the one of the two cases arriving in Aust from NZ, was a probable case from March and the person was asymptomatic for 3.5 months.
    
    Then on Friday, we had peas for people who were in Queenstown and also may have made the excursion to Milford sound on or around 1st 4th July because that was when the gentleman who went to Korea was in the region.
    
    There were also stories of “Chippie” Hipkins imploring people to get tested and acknowledgement that GPs are reluctant to test people, even if patients are showing potential sympotoms. All indicating the potential that the virus is still in the co
    
    So, “no community transmission” in NZ, how true is that?
    
    The frightening thought is, if there is still a level of the virus in the community, do we really want another Rosewood?

        In the 1960s and 1970s – when I was at school just 50 years – consensus rejected continental drift.
        
        Consensus was that land masses rose up in place and people had PhDs etc explaining how it all worked.
        
        People trying to research this new fangled continental drift stuff were getting their research budgets cut and being threatened with being fired.
        
        You can understand why. The guy in charge of the research institute has a PhD thesis in it and has published numerous papers. Last thing he wants is for someone to show his whole career, and his whole ego, was based on dodgy science.
        
        The general population believes scientists are slaves to knowledge and the scientific method. Not so. They have egos. They have mortgages. They are no different to anyone else.

        Science is the practice of stating falsifiable hypotheses, and then repeatedly testing them for their soundness.
        
        Roughly, a proposition such as “Water boils at 100 degrees celsius at normal atmospheric pressure” is a scientific statement: anyone can test this. Similarly, “All unsupported bodies fall to the centre of the Earth” is also a testable, falsifiable hypothesis.
        
        “Locking down the economy prevented x number of deaths” is not a scientific statement, because this would require a control involving every other variable remaing identical, except for not introducing any lockdown measures. It cannot be falsified, so this is not a scientific statement.
        
        Similarly, another popularly accepted claim like “Unless we take drastic action to reduce CO2 emissions, global sea levels will rise by 100 cm in 100 years” cannot be falsified, so it too is not a scientific statement. It’s just a prophecy.

    The real cynical move has to be stopping the wage support to 1.7 million just before the election. They know that if they kept it going to the election they would be accused of buying votes.
    They also know the economy is like a super tanker turn the wheel and its takes time for the ship to turn.
    I suspect between 10% and 20% of the 1.7 million will lose their jobs over the next 6 months to a year as business owners struggle to survive and finally close their doors.
    
    But Labour/Green dont care a toss. All that matters is they hang onto power and power at any cost.
    
    BTW IMHO the weed referendum will get the Greens over the line as their pothead brain dead supporters struggle to the poll so they can keep addling their brains.

      The thing about the weed referendum is that those who already use it – a lot of people – have a supplier or grow their own. And know that consequences in the unlikely event if caught with personal use amounts are trivial if any.
      
      Some might prefer to pay more in a controlled and taxed situation, but for the most part why would they make the change? Not a lot of incentive to vote unless planning to anyway.

      I don’t know about that in your last sentence Lastman.
      If I was a user (aka addict) of cannabis, I would suspect that the current situation of buying cheap product off a somewhat anonymous dealer would suit me just fine.
      I am too lazy to bother cultivating four plants in my own garden (even if I could sell them on) when I can just call dial-a-weed and get it delivered and ready to use.
      I wouldn’t want officials of the state approving, monitoring and taxing my cannabis smoking habit.
      I know someone who regularly smokes legal tobacco cigarettes and they are very defensive about it because of the scrutiny and state promoted hate that using tobacco presents. While smoking cannabis is seen as cool and not “smoking” at all.
      No, if the “brain dead” can still think at all, I reckon they would vote no in the referendum because that would be more in their own interests rather than the interests of this tax and spend CoL.

  I’m pleased to see a kind of consensus showing up on KB now about this now. Some of us were fighting a VERY lonely battle back at the time of actual lockdown. Of course we had all the time in the world then to be doing the right research, if the gummint was paying us fairy gold to stay at home 23/7. But even then it appeared far too easy to fool most of the people most of the time.

My conclusion about the drug Hydroxychloroquine after following both sides of the argument, is “too horrific to be plausible”, therefore the evil side will get away with it, like the old “big lie” principle.

This drug in the right doses, in combination with other drugs and supplements, early in the disease of COVID-19, is a CURE.

It is not people who go to the beach or get their hair cut “illegally”, who are “granny killers”, it is the progressive-media complex, including people in the medical system who should be prosecuted, who have hundreds of thousands of deaths on their hands because they have waged a campaign of lies against an actual cure to this disease.

Motives? Easy. These people will exploit any opportunity to bring about the ruin of western civilization and build their own imagined utopia on the ruins. ANY pretext will do. There does not even need to be an organized conspiracy; they all think the same way, and know it.

Progressives constantly claim good faith, and claim to be insulted by allegations from conservatives that they are intellectual descendants of communist mass-murderers. Actually, they ARE. It is time for people to wake up about this. As I said at the start, these people get away with unthinkable evil, because like Goebbels and P T Barnum with their “Big Lies”, it is unthinkable to ordinary, decent, moral people.

Question: why would even “The Lancet” publish a completely fabricated “study” purporting to prove the deadliness of Hydroxychloroquine? This is not all of it – medical researchers, including Doctors who took the Hyppocratic Oath, have conducted “trials” of this drug where they administered KNOWN TOXIC DOSES (several times as much as the successful protocol of Roualt et al), or administered it only to people who were almost dead anyway after several weeks with COVID-19; when the successful treatments have always been early. Prophylactic use of this drug would be practical and cheap, especially in Rest Homes.

Doctors speaking out are having their sites shut down by Big Tech, who are claiming that the WHO is the sole arbiter of everything in this pandemic – excuse me? What has the WHO been right about so far? Anything???

  After spending afternoon reading a lot of the study summaries I have come to the decision that if Healthy people who previously had good lungs take Hydroxychloroquine it reduces the symptoms and gives them a fighting chance. If however you have smoked for 40 years and are over 65 even if you drink all the water from the River Conwy it will not help.

      with respect, I don’t have time to fisk all of those studies in depth, but did give you the courtesy of looking them up. I am well acquainted with the first one. the baseline matching is not solid and the doctor performed an open label study so in addition to the placebo effect, there was also problem of expectation bias.
      (2) and (3) are news articles, hard to tell if the journalist even understood the actual studies.
      (4) This gets trotted out all the time, it doesn’t translate into in vivo (in the body). Likely a cell culture/test tube artifact (it happens)
      (5) Small study, underpowered, likely an [alpha] = 0.05 artifact (type 1/false positive error).

The recent US House Judiciary committee’s interrogation of Attorney General Bill Barr was a real eye opener. The Democrats showed themselves to be quite the most unpleasant hate-driven bunch of misfits imagineable. I doubt that there could be any nastier politician than the somewhat odd little man chairman Jerry Nadler. Quite the ‘class act’ as Barr himself said when Nadler refused to allow Barr a 5 minute bathroom break.

Trump seems a true gentleman in contrast!

  I’d never seen such hate, bile and vemon drip from someone as it did from Nadler and his Democrat cohort. As a reporter later stated, they may as well just set up a portrait photograph of Barr to yell it. It would have had the same outcome. They never wanted him to respond, just to castigate him in public. It was really just anger therapy for Nadler. A chance to spit out his hate of Trump, the helplessness they feel of not being in charge and the awareness that all their dirty tricks against Trump have failed.

  It is now probable that catching the virus does not provide permanent antibodies. So you can catch it again. If that is correct, neither will a vaccine provide permanent immunity.
  
  Two years from now it will be endemic. There will probably be a vaccine just like there is a flu vaccine. And in New Zealand at any one time, thousands of people will have COVID and hundreds of people will die from COVID each year, mostly elderly, just like they die now from other causes.

  Yes exactly. The best case scenario is that the virus will become endemic but there will be an annual vaccine that provides good but not complete protection.
  
  Itis too early to be sure but there’s growing evidence that contracting the virus does not provide permanent immunity from catching it again. In summary there is no scenario where we hunker down for a year, wait for a vaccine and reopen. However that plan is exactly what Chris Hipkins set out last week.

    Big problem with the stats: countries count different deaths as ‘Covid’ deaths, some really had serious comorbidities and were at death’s door. Some didn’t even have proven covid virus.
    
    I’m not taking this lightly: someone I care about often has bad lung infections. But I still think closing down all local shops and tradies was way too extreme a lockdown. Anyone who could safely trade should have been allowed to do so.

Of the tiny proportion who have died the median age of death is 81, and >98% have one of more serious pre-existing conditions. Charts depicting life expectancy by age in 2019 vs 2020 are indistinguishable. There are 16,300,000 people aged 0-19 in the UK. Fewer than 40 have died of/with Covid-19.

      The first two studies are in vitro (i.e. test tube), the latter case a fraudulent fabrication by a discredited Physician. These findings get trotted out (apart from the last one) every time a new virus turns up. They don’t translate to working in vivo (i.e. in the human body). Also, the scaled concentrations from the first study are off the charts high – salt would almost be antiviral in those quantities.

        It is very rare for a major medical journal to retract a paper, especially one that supports an entire orthodoxy. This paper pinned together the very trinity of Covid-19’s economic and political faith: By taking down HCQ, as “dangerous,” it took direct aim also at President Trump.
        
        Incredibly, after The Lancet paper was published, after The WHO stopped all HCQ studies. “Independent peer reviewers” informed the paper’s authors that the private data collection company “Surgisphere,” owned by co-author –Sapan Desai–would not provide the full dataset for analysis. “As such,” they wrote, “our reviewers were not able to conduct an independent and private peer review and therefore notified us of their withdrawal from the peer-review process.”

        Absent a vaccine… and I am sceptical they will achieve one, but would love to be wrong since there’s NEVER been such a concerted effort as we are seeing now, so maybe they can back-hack a vaccine… then likely we would have to have it annually or even more often like seasonal flu vaccine. But absent a vaccine for therapeutics/drugs I think Regeneron are on to something with their antibody therapy approach, the same way they came up with a therapeutic for Ebola. Problem with their technology is its massively expensive to scale up and manufacture. Lilly and Roche have classic drug molecules in Clinical Trials already. Also the international SOLIDARITY study is due to report soon, they canned their HCQ arm over 2 months ago.

        Unfortunately it is not, happens on roughly a monthly basis.
        
        Remdesivir has limited usefulness – if given to critical patients (ICU) can shorten symptomatic days by 3-4 days. Might not sound like much, but I’m guessing if we were in ICU we’d give anything for a 3-4 day respite. And anyway, the international supply of Remdesivir is vanishingly small , Donald Trump bought almost all of it. Won;’t be properly available internationally until ~February or March next year, apart from small quantities given to governments by Gilead in a quiet agreement last month.

Has anyone else read the two Newsroom stories this week on Sarah Dowie’s experience of being in a relationship with the esteemed MP for Botany, Jami-Lee Ross? They make for harrowing reading and the videos are good too. One of Dowie’s closest friends died when he was struck by a train. Dowie says JLR got annoyed that she was taking too long to get over the grief of her friend’s death. Whenever he wanted to get inside her head he would send her a message with a train emoji in it. Does anyone else think that’s absolutely disgusting and pretty sadistic? How is this guy still an MP?

        The sub-editing of that RNZ report is the main offender, Maggy, when it comes to bias and nastiness.
        
        An anonymous sub-editor shows bias both in the heading, and in a sub-heading which brutally brands the MP “‘New Zealand’s scarlet woman”.

  I just did and it was great reading! I thought it was brave and honest of Newsroom to publish the words of the staffer who takes a swipe at the media and their complicity. It was real journalism, the kind democracy deserves, and I hope those in the media who saw JLR as merely an opportunity to try to damage Bridges and/or the National Party get their karma in due time.

  He talked of the “hell” he’d been through since a dark text he sent sparked a manhunt which eventually saw Ross picked up by police and mental health workers, genuinely ready to end it, on train tracks. – stuff
  
  So a matter which may have drawn sympathy from an amazed public likely had further sinister implications despite how mental health workers at the time may have viewed it.
  And how, as an aside, people may in his electorate may feel a little disillusioned with his continued, up to the Election, supposed representation for them in Parliament.

Also seems to get into either Nation most arrivals travel through only one main Airport . Should be easier to monitor .   I love the English language. I have for most of my life. English is a language that (like many energetic languages including Japanese) is alive and growing daily. It takes words directly from other languages, and makes these its own. Examples include “sushi,” “mirin,” and “sake.”
  Japanese is the same (even more so). It transliterates English directly, representing the “acquired” words with katakana phonetic symbols. For example: Smartphone in Japanese is スマートフォン or “sumaatofon”. Japanese youth further modify this to the slang term スマホ “sumaho” (which is rapidly becoming mainstream).
  
  English has taken on many Maori place names as its own. “Taupo” is English. The Te Reo word (Taupō) has a macron and is pronouced diferently.
  
  The governments of New Zealand, both Labour and National, seem to feel a sense of shame at the way that the English language has transliterated Te Reo terms. State officials see this as a form of oppression, of colonialism, of appropriation or some other form of disrespect. There is almost a self-hatred of the natural way that living languages go about their business; English doesn’t merely “borrow” from other languages: it follows them down dark alleys, knocks them over, and goes through their pockets for loose grammar and valuable vocabulary. Some say that this must stop!
  
  I ask any of these do-gooding officials in New Zealand: when you speak of the capital of France, how do you pronounce it?
  
  Perhaps this cringing homage is reserved for cultures that are higher up on the intersectional totem pole. If so, then I would guess that broadcasters in the US take pains to pronounce all Mexican place names as the people of Mexico would. Americans certainly don’t pronounce Japanese place names correctly, and for that I am grateful.

    English and Maori should be treated and respected as separate languages, but parallel in New Zealand. The problem is coming from those who want to “Maorify” New Zealand English.
    
    When people wish to use the Maori version of a place name there is no rational reason against Anglicised pronunciation of the Maori name being used.
    
    This is what Maori do. When they wish to use “New Zealand” rather than “Aotearoa” they will sometimes say “Niu Tīrene”, and that’s fine.

And indeed some have not followed medical stipulations, but instead of being severely fined or imprisoned, they have been lightly treated, which may be because not all of the Government’s actions to date have been quite legal. (One lie can often generate a few more – like the Woods “racist” deflect, instead of a moment’s rational “conversation”)

Any way, so much for another Ardern slogan: team of five million.
Along with LET’S DO THIS (title of a series of porno films), THEY ARE US (the Islamic Womens Community pre-released contribution to the Royal Commission so far shows THEY ARE NOT, with more to come) and LET’S KEEP MOVING is an invitation to tread water, which we have been doing for three years now … waiting … for a few houses, some trees, light rail, $10 doctors fees … anything but empty slogans …

I am disappointed but not surprised to see some are wanting the virus to break quarantine. They not only see this as a help in getting the government of their choice but it gets them off the hook. Their friends and family remember them saying how the elimination strategy is nonsense, how the Australians are handling it much better etc they remember that you weren’t part of the 5 million. You are like conchies in 1945. To be neither forgiven nor forgotten. However enjoy the fruits of successful elimination our treat. Yes there is an economic crisis coming but it won’t be worse here in fact we will probably come out better than most.

  There are many indicators of intelligence (be it in a collective or an individual context), but two significant signs are:
  
  1) The ability to recognise patterns; and
  
  2) The ability to foresee the consequences of future actions, weigh-up one’s viable options, and therefore to act accordingly.

    He’s laughing all the way to the bank. Paid a fortune to install 6 charging stations in an apartment building of 30 units and about 25 cars.

I have been reading about a dreadful employer whom the Department of Labour have been going easy on. How come dreadful employers usually, but not always, know a hell of lot more about curry powder than they do about whanau support groups.
If the Department of Labour would extract digit and get to work on disgraceful employers we would have no need for labour unions.
And don’t call me a left wing nut job. When your own name, as mine has in the recent past, has appeared at the top of an IR348 form (Employer Monthly Schedule) it galvanises your mind.

Someone commented recently that in the brave new world comments that were not favourably disposed towards “dear leader” would be labelled “hate speech” or censored.

“NewSpeak” would be required and all who failed to comply would be “deleted”.

Sounds like “moderation” to me…….. What do you think?

Judith Collins is proving her worth. 20% approval rating this early is excellent; puts the lie to the belief that she would be unpopular. Her no nonsense approach to issues -albeit with humour – is very appealing; she has served notice to the media that she will not be intimidated nor trifled with. The difference between her and Ardern was demonstrated this week; Collins proposes a flat $3000 quarantine fee across the board for incoming adult Kiwis; Ardern proposes a similar fee with a myriad of exceptions (as a sop to the Greens) . 75% of the population agree with Collins; a sign perhaps that definitive policy trumps ‘feelz’?

  I am very agreeably surprised with Judith Collins public performance. Her ability has never been in question but now she is showing the characteristics of the best of past leaders. Ardern is a weakling by comparison.
  
  I respect all the leaders that National have chosen, they do not do inconsequentials. They respect the mandate of the people not the rules of ideologues.
  Should the $50M electoral bribe succeed, Judith, even as Leader of HM’s Opposition, will still politically destroy Ardern.

  I think there is some cherry picking of results here. She has also overseen a drop of the party vote (which is the one that matters) over Muller of 6%.
  
  Fool yourself if you wish that they are doing great, but in the real world massive changes need to be made now to prevent many Nat MP’s losing their jobs next month. They are in serious trouble.

Finally, a little ‘normalcy’ has returned to our Sundays. Was able to attend Confession again this morning. First time in months.
What i found a little disconcerting, is that they’ve now covered the latticework screens in the Confessional with a sort of Plexiglass or something.. Penitents now need to pick up a telephone handset in order to converse with the Priest. TBH, I found it just a little disconcerting.
Reminded me of a scene from a doco we watched recently, ‘Confessions of a Serial Rapist’

    I can think of practicing catholics I know who are atheists but still enjoy the community, prayer and hymns etc I think a lot of people don’t agree with every teaching but still get a lot out of it. There is obviously a lot of debate in churches on the rights and wrongs of such matters.

  I don’t think you have it quite right. Labour’s plan is to give the public the impression that people are paying, when really they’re not (or hardly anyone is)
  It’s a win-win-win for Labour.
  People who think (according to what I’ve read recently) that it’s just not fair to charge people and it’s “not the kiwi way” aren’t paying
  People (taxpayers) who think people should pay, think that they are.
  People who are capable of reading beyond the headlines, and of thinking for themselves, see through the policy but wouldn’t have voted for Labour anyway so nothing is lost.

If National wants to build for the general election after next, it could do much worse than go on the warpath in local bodies. This would help find general election candidates and reduce poor choices of the last few years. One big, clear, easy target would be the Labour-dominated Christchurch City Council.

      Well Mods, I have reviewed the comments policy again and I can clearly state that none of my deleted comments today have breached any rule within that policy.
      
      Suggesting that your moderation views and your activities this morning are linked, albeit humourously, is an opinion, not abuse, not abusive nor anything else nasty yet it was deleted.
      
      There were others and not just today.
      
      Questioning the actions of moderators is not excluded within the comments policy and I see it as healthy and not to be seen as abusive in any way. Surely moderation is fluid and not entrenched.
      
      Also, I saw the following within the policy and it would be helpful to have it followed up on.
      
      “I may post some extracts from that group at some stage so people can see examples of what we are ruling in or out.”

All religious gatherings and ceremonies with the exception of those relevant to Muslims are forbidden in NSW and VIC due to COVID-19 regulations. BUT, BUT, BUT, Muslims in NSW are permitted to gather in groups of up to 400 to celebrate Eid-Al-Adha.

Can there be such a thing as “Maori science”?

The concept of “Maori science” applies to a culture that didn’t have a written language and whose technology hadn’t reached the stage of the wheel.

A Wikipedia article says:

“Maori science also called Te Putaiao Maori (literally Maori knowledge of the natural world), is an academic discipline at the intersection of Western science and matauranga Maori (literally Maori knowledge or traditional knowledge of the Maori people). It can be viewed as a decolonization of science.”

The Wikipedia article talks of “women have made great contributions to Maori science” and gives as an example one Wahakaotirangi. Her scientific achievements?

She … brought kumara to the Waikato region and built gardens in which she experimented with growing edible and medicinal plants, in particular studying how to make the kumara grow in the cooler climate of Waikato.

“Wahakaotirangi was also a part of the invention and launch of the Tainui canoe.”

All this is from oral history.

Maori “science” is nonsense.

A reasoned demolition of the concept is made in the 1994 article from NZ Skeptics linked to below. A sample:

“Maori knowledge — a mixture of religion, mythology and observed facts — is sometimes inconsistent and often resorts to an appeal to authority to justify a statement. It has different aims and standards to science.”

Portland’s Black Lives Matter protests are some of the strongest in America.

The state population is 77 per cent white, and less than 2 per cent African American. Portland is 71.6 per cent white, and 5.7 per cent African American. Hispanics are separated in these statistics and make up 12.3 per cent of the population of the state, and 9.4 per cent of the population of Portland.

Today will be day 66 of BLM street protests in Portland, a city of 650,000 people.

Meanwhile, Wuhan flu statistics for the state of Oregon (population 4.3 million): 330 new cases and three deaths yesterday. Oregon has now reported 18,817 confirmed or presumed infections and 325 deaths.
